We went with Homeowner Design Center to do our Kitchen and Bathroom Renovation. It was a simple renovation just upgrading cabinets, counter tops, bath tub to a shower and flooring. We met with Randall Omoto he looked over our project and gave us valuble advice and information about the process of our renovation. He helped us get started. He referred us to C & E Construction for our general contractor. Randall explained what kind of quality cabinets, countertops, and flooring to go with. We bought our cabinets, cabinet hardware and flooring through HDC. The Renovation took longer than agreed upon, we had some hiccups along the way nothing major. Randall and Jessica along with the General contractor helped make everything right. The whole process of the renovation was less stressful with Homeowners Design Center guidance and expertise. We are approaching 1 year since we met with and paid HDC. There were/are several issues with HDC beginning with their diagram which included errors; one left 4 inches between bottom of upper cabinet and counter top. The cabinet doors could not fully open because they hit the beams. The wrong cabinet doors were ordered despite HDC's own design showing the correct doors. I am still missing pieces and am awaiting delivery. The sad part is our kitchen is small with a simple layout. Randall is easy to talk with when he wants your business, but after HDC received $$$$ he has hard to reach. HDC seems to be overwhelmed and disorganized, which has caused us much frustration! read more

I gave this business a 2-star because at least the receptionist gave me a call about my appointment cancelation - albeit 9 minutes before my reservation time otherwise I would have given a 1-star. I made an appointment yesterday (Thursday, 1/09/2020) for this morning (1/10/2020) with Alex (Flooring Specialist) for 08:30 am. I pulled into the parking garage at 08:20am. Just as!I was about to exit my car at 08:21am I received a phone call from the receptionist informing me that Alex called out sick. I asked if there was anyone else and apparently the other Flooring person had also called in sick as well. She asked if I wanted to reschedule and I said no, I was already at the business so could I come into the showroom and look at the Luxury Vinyl Plank flooring. She said that would be fine. So I went upstairs and signed in and went to the Flooring area. I must add, there was nary an employee to be found/seen on this Friday morning in any department. After conducting a lot of research on flooring with Consumer Reports and online reviews I decided on a Luxury Vinyl Plank (LVP) "Pro Level" product. This design center was referred by Armstrong online for the Vivero Diamond 10 LVP in Honolulu. I saw one of the samples with a color/design I would be interested in. Couldn't find much info on the specs. These are a very thin LVP (about 4 mm) but there was no information about the protective thickness (should be 20 mils for light commercial/commercial duty or residences with rambunctious children and/or large dogs). Also, the protective layer is usually either made of acrylic; polyurethane, polyurethane with ceramic beads or the toughest coating of all the Vicero Diamond 10 that uses diamond dust for hardness/scuff resistance. The next most protective layer are the ones with polyurethane and ceramic beads. Anyway, there are other companies on Oahu with information online that I will be doing business with in the next two weeks. Most unfortunate because this company with a great floor room and product selection for your home remodeling looked like they could use some business. read more

Sisley there was never anybody before homeowners design center. There was Anna who came to do the first quote but she didn't even turn up for the first appointment. I should've nine then that this company was tardy and can't keep any timelines or any appointments. Homeowners design center didn't decline to go ahead with my kitchen I decided to get rid of them when the writing was on the wall. After two attempts, I give up! 1st attempt: Went to showroom. Designer that we ended up talking to was all about the upsell and putting down our current products from the developer of our home. After convincing from the lovely woman at the front desk, came to a seminar they offer to meet with a different designer as well. Seminar was good. Set up an on site appointment for them to see our kitchen. Was told designer would bring a contractor with him as well. 2nd attempt: Designer shows up at home with the window covering guy that we were talking to at the showroom. No contractor. No explanation for no contractor. We discuss options. He says we should just buy a different fridge but would work up some options. Within a week, the window guy contacts us with an estimate for blinds. Months later, still waiting for the designer's potential ideas for our kitchen. There will not be a third attempt! This company is a joke. How have they been in business for so long is beyond me! read more

We met Randall 2 years ago at the Home show. We talked to several designer/contractors and picked up brochures. At that time, we had just started to look at renovating our kitchen and was just "looking" for someone to help us coordinate our renovation. A few months later, we met with Randall to see what he might have in mind for our renovation. Much of his recommendation was based on his extensive experience and he gave us ideas we could use. He visited our home during the CoVid pandemic, did some measurements and put together a working layout. We visited many showrooms he recommended and also extended our renovation area to include our family room. He found contractors that we could work with, met several and picked one that was competent and reliable and started our renovation. The end product gave us all of the conveniences we wanted, the additional work spaces and modernization of appliances. I would not recommend Homeowners Design Center. We made an appointment for a complete kitchen remodeling estimate and a designer and flooring professional arrived at our home on Feb 2. We were very impressed with the flooring guy who was very knowledgeable and gave us excellent tips about vinyl planking versus refinishing our existing oak floor. The designer, however, walked around, taking measurements and barely spoke with us. Before leaving, she said she'd meet with us at their showroom the following week. She never called us to schedule a meeting. A month later, I called the showroom, left my name and number and asked that she return my call. She never called back! I expected an established company like HDC would at least extend us the courtesy of a follow-up call! Very unprofessional! read more

We highly recommend Homeowners Design Center. We found it difficult to envision how our kitchen would look by viewing our architects blueprints. Randall inputted the measurements into his program and created 3d visuals for us to review. Based on numerous meetings with him, we made changes based on his recommendations, to improve the flow and functionality of our kitchen. He came to our house, measured the spaces to ensure that things would fit, and connected us with suppliers and craftsmen who did excellent work. We purchased our cabinets from HDC and are happy with the design and value that we got for them. Spoke to a guy named Bert regarding a possible remodel/renovation job. This guy is a piece of work - he's rude, pushy and doesn't have time to hear what you want. He will run over whatever you have to say and make sure he exhausts you until you go with what his choice is. If you ask a question or state your opinion, the look on his face says it all - he makes you feel stupid and ashamed for saying anything at all. He rushed us, as if he had more important things to do. Customers beware, if this is how one employee treats you, I can only imagine how the other ones are. 1 star is too kind. Went to HDC and spoke with rep Galen Chun who was really nice. He followed my husband & I around the showroom and wrote down everything we wanted for our kitchen renovation. He made an appointment with us to take estimation of our kitchen, which he did. Galen was quite professional and told us he would get back to us in 2 weeks. We are getting ready to renovate our kitchen soon. Everyone here was friendly and knowledgeable in showing us the different products and explaining the differences when we were in the "just looking" stage. Once our contractor sent the measurements and plans to Randall, Randall input the info into his software program and came up with a 3-D design of our kitchen. When we met with him, he was extremely helpful in designing the placement of the cabinets and drawers according to the space available and to our needs. What a great service! I would not recommend HDC to anyone! It took almost six months before our kitchen was completed! And this was only a townhouse! Whenever we called HDC they did not return our call. The contractor that HDC recommended did a terrible job! It took almost 3 months before our cabinets came and another 3 months to complete the installation! When it should have been only 6-8 weeks for our cabinets to come and a week for installation! The contractor only worked 2-3 hours a week and kept having to come back every week for almost 3 months! The workmanship was awful and unacceptable! Please save yourself from the disappointment and stress that it caused us!!!!!! Don't go to HDC!!!! read more

After researching the window coverings market we went here for a quote. Sales rep was friendly in the show room. However after a few cancelled site visits and other excuses the revised quote was significantly more. I questioned why it was so high and no believable reason was given. Needless to say they didn't follow up with me after that. Wasted a few months with this company going back and forth. We decided to go with another company subcontract through the big orange store. Don't hold your breath waiting for an estimate from this company! I think we were a "small potatoes" job for them. The estimator arrived promptly, gave me some excellent recommendations for our townhouse rental we were renovating, measured our unit, and said he'd be back with an estimate the week after Thanksgiving (he came the second week of November 2014). Fair enough since the Thanksgiving holiday was coming up. Well, it's January 8, 2015 and it appears that our estimate is MIA. Agree with some of the other reviewers--service is not one of their strong points. Every time I see their commercial TV, I say, good luck in procuring HDC, because it appears that unless you have big $$$ to spend, they will not follow up with you. We were disappointed because our General Contractor recommended them. We eventually went with another firm. Too bad, HDC, you lost over $35,000 in business (like I said, small potatoes for your firm, I guess). The $35K was just for bathroom and kitchen countertops and cabinets. read more

We went to Homeowners design center two weeks ago, and had building plans for our existing kitchen and bath and wanted to sit down with someone to get a quote. The sales rep said "oh no we don't quotes like that we like to come into your home and measure and see your kitchen then we'll sit down with you." Okay so we made an appointment. I got childcare for someone to watch my three kids. Well.. the appointment was at 12:30. Come 1pm no one was here. I spoke to the sales manager and she said that the rep thought that the meeting was in the office. Um no. you took our address, you told us you wouldn't quote us until you measured our house. They asked us if we still wanted them to come. They apologized but you know what? NO. If I'm going to spend BIG MONEY $80k plus to redo my kitchen and two bathrooms I'm NOT doing business with a company that can't keep their appointments. If that kind of money is not important to them I'm not giving it to them. Good luck to anyone that uses this company. They spend money on big fancy commercials and showrooms but their customer service is questionable. read more

If I had to give a rating I would give this company "0" stars. My friends recently had their kitchen cabinets replaced by this company. Breakdown cost of each cabinet was not even provided on the receipt, wrong size cabinets were ordered and then cut down to modify to correct size. Friends were overcharged. Sub- contracter who installed cabinets did a lousy job with screws going thru closet in bedroom from kitchen along with other numerous errors. Lousy job done with damage to many areas. Attitude of homeowners design owner and sub- contracter was cocky and made it seem like it was homeowners fault. Highly overpriced for labor cost and crappy customer service from this company. Not once did the Homeowners Design Center admit to fault or apologize or offer to compensate for the incorrect order and damage done. A project that supposed to be done within two weeks did not get completed till two months later. This project turned out to be Hell"s Kitchen! Their logo looks impressive but I am so thankful to say I will never recommend this company to any homeowner in need of remodeling! HE'LL NO!!!! read more
