Homer's Barbecue is a casual spot with some awesome and unique barbecue selections to choose from. They have a regular menu and they also put out monthly specials. They have inside and outside seating. When you arrive, they ask you to order at the counter. After ordering, they give you a number and have you seat yourself, then bring your food out pretty quickly. We started with the briskitos and they were hot, crunchy, filled with tender brisket. Very tasty! My date got the rib plate with a double order of fries and he tried the sauce of the month, gochu-lime glaze. The glaze was super sweet and had a nice kick. The ribs were smoky and tender and the fries were seasoned very well. I ordered the chef salad with ranch. I loved the tender pulled chicken. I had difficulty with the way my salad was plated, in a shallow bowl. It was crazy full and everything tried to fall out. Overall a good experience! Very nice place with great atmosphere and delicious food. The pulled pork was delicious! Well seasoned and bbq'd perfectly to a tender delicious state. The "plate" is served with two sides, the baked beans and seasoned fries were my choice and they paired wonderfully. The iced tea is fresh and delicious as well. The food comes out quickly, but could have been a little warmer. They also have a decent beer selection and a full bar to top off the great bbq. The thick and spicy sauce is my favorite so far! Went on Saturday to watch the Derby and have some good Bar-B-Q. Left disappointed in the food. I had the sampler and so did my husband. The brisket was fatty, the ribs were just ok, chopped chicken had no flavor. The sides were just as bad. The baked beans were salty, Mac and cheese tasted like it was from a box, and the Cole slaw was just a mess. The bread on the plate was good and so were the pickled onions. I travel for work and like to try BBQ in other states and cities in Kentucky. What I noticed was there was no consistency in the quality of food. My family and I got to meet and speak with the General Manager AND the fella who owns Homer's and Hometown Roots. Both of them were really welcoming. They had a live band which was really nice for bar patrons. We were hungry and waited like an hour and a half for a table at Hometown Roots. The staff suggested we go to Homer's if we couldn't contain our hunger. We sat at the bar and listened to the music. It was fun and relaxing. We ordered nachos, which were served on thick potato chips which is an interesting spin. The one criticism is that we paid for chopped brisket to be added to the nachos. I make my own brisket and we appreciate how expensive that stuff is, but there was hardly any brisket on the nachos. What was there was tender, lean, and juicy. It is hard to get that combination just right. Would we get it again? Yes. We would. As we talked, the General Manager introduced us to the jalapeño cornbread served at Hometown Roots. Yep! As busy as he was, he ran next door to get us some cornbread. Dang. That was probably better than the stuff I make! read more

If you leave Homers BBQ hungry, it's your own fault!!!! They had catered a meeting at my husband's office, and he said we HAD to go try it in person. Big platters of succulent BBQ, served Texas-Style. Everything comes on a big tray. We tried 4 different BBQ meats, and all were outstanding. Melt in your mouth brisket, big juicy ribs.... And 5 different sauces to enjoy. Creative sides, all were perfect accompaniment to the rich BBQ. Noted was the Cowboy Caviar, and the Street Corn. The host and server were friendly, polite, smiling, and our server was on top of drinks and service without hovering. Homers is family friendly, and adults can enjoy a grown- up drink as well. The only thing I could have wished for was a hot n spicy BBQ sauce, because I like my BBQ with a little kick. We will return to Homers!!!! read more

I just moved to Henderson and had already used Yelp to search for BBQ. My apartment manager recommended Homer's. No wonder I could not find it because it hadn't been added to Yelp yet. I took care of that and will be back ....A LOT! Homer's is in a downtown building that looks like it is remodeled with TVs on the wall and music playing through the restaurant. There are garage doors to open out into the street. Homer's has been open for only 2 months. I was greeted promptly and made my way to the counter to order. I did not see a combo plate but the owner was happy to oblige. I chose the brisket plate with an add on of pulled pork for 4 dollars with potato salad and Mac and cheese. It was all phenomenal! The brisket is rubbed with chili powder and it was smoked to perfection. The pulled pork was juicy and tender. The mac and cheese was solid. And the potato salad was made with red potatoes in some kind of sour cream conglomeration with cheese. It was fabulous! There are 5 sauces on the table like BBQ joints should have. The 5 with a description are: Western Kentucky - sweet vinegar base, Alabama White, Carolina Mustard, Thick and Spicy - ketchup base with a little kick, and Sweet and Tangy - also a ketchup base. All were phenomenal but I believe I liked the Alabama White the best. Roll Tide! Sweet tea was refreshingly sweet! This was AMAZING BBQ and don't pass it up! read more

This is my third time here but my first time for dinner. The food was delicious but the portions were a little on the small side. For dinner they do full service sit down and our waitress was fantastic. Fantastic food and great service. I've tried many dishes there but my favorite is the brisket dip. Man is it delicious. Pork is great and they have some really good sauces and there should be a sauce for every taste. I don't use sauce because the meats there are delicious and they do not need any. Homer's has a nice vibe with the garage doors on the front of the building. I was there during the summer kick off that was going on in the streets. They were busy and having computer issues so that didn't help. I sat at the bar and heard a bunch of complaining from the staff. That's my primary reason for the 4 star review. The food was delicious. The brisket was nice and smokey and the fries were fantastic and perfectly cooked. I also had to try a cup of the burgoo, which in my best description is spiked up beef stew with smoked pork and chicken. It was very tasty as well. The absolute driest bone-in chicken I have EVER had. All pieces were completely charbroiled. My husband's ribs were decent.
