Simply loved it. We came in for lunch ahead of a gig nearby and it fit the bill. We saw it listed and it looked to have a history. We love places like that and this felt authentic. The décor was an homage to classic diner down to the Coca-Cola wallpaper. I haven't had a frito chili pie like Bill's often. Growing up we called that version "Mexican salad" as it was more salad-like, but definitely not taco salad. I ain't complainin', mind you. I loved what I got. Wifey got the patty melt. She's a bit of an aficionado with those, so when she tells me it's really good, I know it must be. You don't often see pickles come on a patty melt. The ones that came on the side with this were thin, sharp and crunchy -perfect. Okay, this is going to sound stupid, but the crushed ice got me. You don't get a lot of crushed ice where we're at and it's something I had all the time growing up in OKC. My uncle drags me here every time I come out from Arizona to visit with him. The place is small and pretty busy but well worth the stop. The burgers are very fresh and not from a freezer. The fries and rings are excellent but the main show starts when the milkshakes hit the table. They are so thick, so don't even attempt to use a straw or you're never going to make it, and man are they good. I've driven past this place for years and never stopped. To be honest I was always a little bit confused because they called in a drive-in and I don't see any way to drive him. Still don't understand that. Anyway, there is sitting inside. It's about what you'd expect out of a diner. Cheeseburgers and sandwiches and french fries. The inside was crowded and didn't appear to be especially clean or well-maintained. The patty melt which didn't come with the side so I ordered a side of cottage cheese and had water to drink. Total was $13.69 before leaving a tip. but the bread with soggy. All in all I don't think I'll come back. There are far better options in Leavenworth. read more

This was amazing!!! I ordered the bacon burger and onion rings. The burger was a good size not too big but not small either. After a long weekend after meeting my new in laws, this was so filling and hit a spot I haven't felt in a long time. Always drive by this place and not once have I stopped in until now. Small little hole in the wall diner. I got the Homer Classic with French fries and it was delicious! I could have done without the second patty, but my overall experience was good. We got our drinks right away and it didn't take long for our food to come out either. The sandwich was delicious & fries were nice and crispy. If you want a ToGo order you pull up out front and wait for someone to come outside and take your order. Very unique, but works. Stopped in here for a good old greasy cheeseburger. The place is very small with a few booths and a few tables. There is nothing new in the joint, all old vinyl booths, antique Coca Cola memorabilia on the walls, and uses glass water cups. I ordered a frito pie in hopes for a great tasting chili on chips. My son ordered a double cheeseburger and fries. The frito pie was unfortunately bland and I left half of it there. The fries were plain as well, had to salt them well for any taste. This place is horrible. I went in there today and I ordered some scrambled eggs with some hashbrowns that are cooked all the way through. They brought me eggs with soggy hashbrowns soaked in butter. I asked them if they could cook them all the way, I want them crunchy. They brought them to me again with more butter and soggy. If I could give no stars I would. How hard is it to make some crunchy hashbrowns? What a waste of fucking money. read more

I grew up on Homers as my parents were from Leavenworth. I will never come to Leavenworth and not go to Homers. My most recent visit, the food was very good and the server was pleasant and very accommodating. I hope for as long as I frequent Leavenworth this establishment is there to make me feel "at home and comforted". This place is open until 7pm on Sundays which is a plus. The tables are small. The food was not that great. The Frito Pie was soggy and the meat was too spicy; it was more of a taco salad. The burgers are small. The fried mushrooms are definitely not fresh and were frozen. The French fries could have used a little longer in the fryer to get more of a golden crisp. I wish I could give this place 3.5 stars. It's time to fix that Yelp!!! Time to bring in the half stars! Homer's is such a cute hometown diner. Love the atmosphere and decor...takes you back in time. They weren't busy at all when I arrived which isn't necessarily that strange on a Sunday late afternoon/early evening. I read the reviews before coming in and they were marginal. But I was super rooting for them. So, the first bite of my cheeseburger was delicious, the same with my onion rings, and my French fries. (A note: the fries come unsalted. Luckily, they were still piping hot fresh out the grease when they got to the table so I could properly salt them.) I was so happy with my choice. But I will say, as I continued to eat my fries, I could understand the two comments I saw about the fries and the onion rings, that they taste frozen and the fries are not cooked all the way. Which is surprising because they have a nice golden fried crisp to them, but some were not cooked all the way through. My shake was bomb though! Cheeseburger was good, again first two or three bites were delicious, then I could see what the other reviews were talking about the flavor. The burgers here really are the bomb!! We've eaten here quite a few times and they have more than compensated for their previous orders error on our charge. We always call in our order for pick-up since we are a family of 7 and seating is very limited. The order is always fresh and correct and they are one of the few places not price gouging through COVID. They are more expensive than fast food, but you definitely get what you pay for. Today was my first & sadly, probably my last time eating at Homer's. After reading the great reviews & seeing photos of delicious appearing food, I took my mom & my son here for lunch. Our order consisted of: hamburger & fries, cheeseburger & onion rings and a chicken strip kids meal. WOW. this place was amazing. the vibe of it was so wonderful and the atmosphere really felt like it was an old retro diner, just like the inside is dressed as. i loved all coke related things and all the booths had hat/coat hanging poles connected to them really adding to the retro feel!! i had the double cheeseburger, which was LOVELY. i will say i recommend going with the bigger patties because they are on the thinner side, but it was delicious overall. i also got a side of mozzarella sticks because why not!! and my goodness were they gooey, stringy and just the right amount of grease oozed from it (which was very minimal). my mother had the pork tenderloin sandwich which was not only HUGE but also EXTREMELY tasty. it wasn't tough or chewy at all, but was "soft" if you will. the crinkle cut fries were also amazing. they are definitely one of my favorite kind of fries. the service was amazing too!! i didn't catch the name of our waitress, but she was quick with getting us menus, drinks and our order. we received the food quite quick as well. she was also attentive and was sure to check on us a good amount of times. this is a wonderful little diner that is an amazing lunch spot!!! they also serve breakfast though i have yet to try. definitely worth the visit!! read more

So I came here due to my fellow elite leaving reviews that were good, so I decided to give it a try. I ordered the chicken sandwich with a chocolate sundae and my husband ordered the cheeseburger and fries and a shake (I forget the flavor). As a wife the first thing I went after was his food lol. The fries were good and the shake was a bit too icy for me. Wasn't creamy at all, sorry wouldn't order that at all. I tried to order my chicken sandwich protein style, when brought to the table some pieces were missing, or it doesn't come with it. I had to ask for tomatoes and onions, basically toppings. The chicken itself was really good and had some flavor I would come back for. My chocolate sundae was very messy but I loved every minute of it. Wasn't anything spectacular like you would find at a Ghirardelli shop, but it served its purpose. The second time I was going to come here to try the cheeseburger the doors were locked but the sign said open. I then went to Wendy's and drove pass and seen people walking into the place! Homers is a Leavenworth institution (sort of like the Fort and the Pen there). It hasn't changed much in the 50 years since my last visit there - the food is still very good and prices reasonable. The service was a lot slower than the old days, but the new owner is still probably working on that. We both ordered the hamburger which is perfectly cooked on a flat top with c nice crust. Its not large, but is quite satisfying. The onion rings were perfectly battered and crisp and the serving abundant for the two of us. I had the pumpkin shake and it was totally delicious! read more

I really love this place - the quality of food is impressive and the staff is awesome. I've had their hamburgers, onion rings, traditional malts and family style diners (21 piece shrimp is the best)...it's all been really good. All the food has a very home-cooked and delicious flavor. I also commend the cook - he definitely has some skills. He always seems to cook the food perfectly, regardless of the size of the order. The table wait staff are very friendly and do a great job at balancing the busy times so you never wait very long. Homers has been in the area since the 1930's ... This is from a February 10, 2016 visit. We were in town for a workshop at Fort Leavenworth when my coworker remembered this diner from years ago. So we stopped by for lunch to see how the legend held up. We found a retro style diner, last renovation in the 1960's I believe. It shouts greasy spoon, but that isn't a bad thing. I appreciated the prompt friendly service for lunch. In keeping with the red leather or vinyl upholstered booths, I ordered up meatloaf with mashed potatoes and gravy. For sides I had green beans with bacon and, in a gesture to my arteries, an order of steamed broccoli. The food came out of the kitchen without delay. Good portion size. The meal was good but the flavor did not stand out. I left full and searching for strong coffee to fend off impending food coma that afternoon. read more

I haven't been to Homer's since I was a youth. I was in town visiting family when we went to Homer's. I ordered onion rings . Not only were they very small, there were only 5 of them. They were overcooked, and tough. Nearly $1.00 per onion ring. This is not acceptable. The hamburger's were very small, too. Total of $18.56, and left there hungry. This is very sad.
