Paul's might be an KCK institution to some, but I suggest they are more of an embarrassment. The entire premises is filthy and dilapidated. I don't think anyone has painted in decades, the lobby has exposed cords, non-working lighting, handwritten signs with poor penmanship that are torn and barely hanging and a menu board that is falling off the window. Such simple and cheap issues to rectify but it appears no one gives a damn. The open view of the grill and kitchen is less than spectacular also with clutter and old equipment. The burgers are reminiscent of Hi-boys; fresh meat smash grilled and topped with lettuce, tomato onion and sauce; quite adequate, although the onion rings were some of the worst I've ever had - doughy and greasy. Sorry, I can't jump on the nostalgia bandwagon for this old hamburger joint, someone needs to pull the plug and start fresh.

    Tiny onion rings now

I'm sad , they shrunk their onion rings!!!! Raised the prices too. But good nonetheless.

My family has been going to Paul's since before I was born. I remember getting cheeseburger baskets with fries and onion rings when I was around 3! We lived on Miami when I was born. My uncle and I both worked at Firestone on Kansas ave and we got lunch from there all the time! So for my birthday this year I made the trip down there and got me a cheeseburger basket. Only to find out they may be closing! I hate to see a place like this go away so please support this place it is delicious!

He was friendly, kind, and happy to answer all of our questions. He made us feel welcome and really added to the experience. The fish tacos were to die for, and the High On The Hog was amazing with the cheese on top! BJ brought us the Rangoon Fries to try, and wow. So goooood! The restaurant itself is such a neat place with a great atmosphere. We can't wait to come back and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for delicious food and exceptional service! He told me about this spot so I went and picked us up some lunch. He ordered oxtails and grits with a side of cabbage and some peach cobbler. I ordered the tackle box with shrimp, fish and chicken wings and a side of greens. I thought I was getting fries and greens, but I only got the greens and they were okay, but I gave them to my brother. The cabbage was also just OK because there wasn't much juice in them, so they were pretty dry. Everything else was absolutely delicious. I had never had Basa fish, but I loved it loved it loved it ! I will definitely go back when I am in town next. Matter fact, I ordered two to go plates: oxtail and grits for my son and Basa fish and yams for his wife. They loved their orders as well. My only recommendation would be that they put the grits and oxtails in a different kind of container. Even though it was double bagged the Styrofoam does not accommodate the grits. Customer service was great. The tall young man who served me made a little mistake on my ticket, but it was OK. They fixed it....everybody was nice. Totally enjoyed myself.

We filled up on those happy hour apps and even have food leftover for lunch tomorrow. We also got the banana cream cheesecake. It was so rich and sweet. We only had a few bites left and Tina offered to get us a box. Service was wonderful. I never had an empty drink and never had to ask for a refill. Bathrooms were super clean. As for our main courses I got a French Dip and my husband ordered the filet mignon. Both cooked perfectly.
