In what has to be the most anticipated and protracted restaurant opening in the Northland's history. After years and years of a vacant Taco Bueno, multides of rumours, false starts and setbacks - Go Chicken Go has finally opened on Vivion Rd at N. Oak. I'm ecstatic and a bit nervous because I've been a fan and regular customer of GCG since the early 80's. I've never lived close to one, but have always made frequent trips to the OG 7th St. shop. Nervous because the new joint is on a direct route between home and work and about a mile from either, so I'm scared of GCG burn-out and I don't want that to be a part of my future. On their 2nd evening in operation, I slipped away from work and grabbed my favorite - a half order of gizzards with roll and GCG sauce. We tried Go Chicken Go for the first time ever tonight and we're not too impressed. The "value" meals are definitely not a good value. We got 9 pieces of very small so so tasting chicken with one pint side and 6 rolls for $30. We also paid $3 for the tiniest cup of Cole slaw you've ever seen. No drinks and just the one side of as disappointing. The rolls are very basic, surely just some Sysco product. The mashed potatoes are from powder. The chicken gravy is ok. The Cole slaw is as ok. The chicken gravy as very small, esp the breasts. Taste was ok. We'd been wanting to try it, and now we have. We won't get it again, as there's at better fried chicken and sides out there for the money. read more

Let me preface by saying I really like Go Chicken Go. I was introduced to it in kcmo on Troost. Then reintroduced to it at the one on 7th Street in kck. When the new one opened in North Oak, it was great out the gate. The last few times though the gizzards seemed like they were old. The chicken is still good, but the gizzards have gone down hill. The workers are always polite and the service is always quick. I can't speak on the ambiance breviary i don't go inside. Over all, i think I'll just have to nix the gizzards at this location from now on. read more

Very bad experience with the one at 380 NE Vivian rd went for the 1st time. Walking in i saw a young employee wiping something from the floor and tables using the same rag and chemicals. Afterwards went directly to the food and started preparing orders, i asked if he had washed his hands he said no. I asked can you please wash your hands before you make my order he said no im not touching your food. I spoke with the manager who's name is James told him what happened he shrugged his shoulders and said " I don't see what the problem is, since he's not touching the bare floor it's ok". I said well he should not be using chemicals and coming into contact with germs and bacteria then touching food before washing his hands. He said whatever do what you have to do , yelling creating a scene he said get out of my store. Then told his employees not to serve us. Everything was easy to order and this place was a hit. place is clean inside and plenty of seatings. Waited for over 30 minutes inside to get our gizzards with that delicious G Sauce, Wing Pack with full wings, and a chicken sandwich. Food came out piping hot and fresh even when we had it to-go. Go Chicken Go never disappoints. The service is smooth and the food is always on point. I did a drive through order on my first visit to this location, but I plan to go back soon to go inside to check out the place. This place stays pretty busy but that's a great thing. I ordered 2 chicken sandwiches each with a side of potato salad. I would not order the sandwiches again. We each found the bun to be oddly chewy. Not stale or hard but unpleasantly chewy and dense. The Mayo was tangy but not like Miracle Whip. It tasted of tartar sauce without the chunks of pickle relish. The chicken strips themselves were dry and under seasoned. Perhaps they'd been sitting under a heat lamp for a while because the coating on them was tough. The small bright spot was the potato salad. It was very good. They offer two sizes. The individual size could be a bit bigger to make it a proper side item and the large is for two so if I may suggest a medium size or making the individual serving a bit bigger that would be appreciated. read more

I went to the new go chicken go off vivion rd and the line was long so I went in to order. They took my order and within 5 minutes my food was hot and fresh. I ordered the half liver and gizzards box that comes with a dinner roll and their sauce. Hardly anyone sells livers and gizzards anymore it brought back memories so I will be back. read more

Went through drive-thru last Thursday night. Got two snack packs and the girl charged me for sauce but didn't give it to me so I had Go inside to get it. She was apologetic but that defeats the whole purpose of drive-thru. Then when I got home and ate the chicken I thought it had a weird aftertaste and I just had Church's Chicken snack pack 2 weeks ago and it was good. Came here today line moved very fast about 2 minutes per car! We ordered 3 of the wing dinners all with double mashed potatoes and 2 - G spot sauces & had my wings fried 2 minutes longer to have that crispy crunch to them! Love this place! They have great gizzards and livers, and that Go sauce is out of this world. Service is always quick, whether you go inside or use the drive thru. Inside is clean and spacious. Most customers seem to do the take out or drive thru options. Always busy but never crowded. read more

I went to the new Go Chicken Go yesterday on 380 NE Vivion Road and we were very disappointed with the service and the food. The chicken was good and it was hot and fresh but the mashed potatoes and gravy were cold and the roll was dry like it had been sitting out for a while. The order taker Lee was very unfriendly and very very slowwww. I wish I would have gone thru the drive thru it looked like they were getting waited on a lot quicker. The booths looked dirty and the place unkept for such a new restaurant I was not impressed.
