We enjoyed a Homestyle takeout lunch with my daughter and two grands. Menu is well organized into categories. Prices are moderate. The Chicken/eggplant/cheese/pesto Panini was excellent. The in store made Italian bread was grilled nicely. The crust was crispy and spread with pesto. My daughter and I split the generous Panini. Yum. Grandpa enjoyed half of the Chicken Parm Sub. Ordered a round Cheese Pizza for the children plus nicely breaded and fried large Chicken tenders. Food was well received. I added to my phone order when I went for pickup from the two large cases of ready to go foods. I got a large serving of Sausage and Peppers and a square of Eggplant Parm. Two fresh in-house made rolls were included --Fresh and outstanding as always. We sampled my selections, and the rest will be served for dinner. The Italian sausage was spiced mildly, had fennel seeds as it should have, and lean. The peppers used were red, yellow, and orange --not less desirable green ones. Five Stars. The Eggplant Parm was heavily breaded and fried until too soft. 3 Stars. I love how you do not have to preorder many items. They have available two large cases of food ready to go including: Chick Parm, Eggplant Parm, Lasagne, Ziti, Alfredo pasta, and Orzo Soup with Greens. Slices of pizza are also available: tomato pie, broccoli, and pepperoni. pizza. And there is more! Stromboli, garlic knots, and Parmesan bread sticks adorn the ready to go cases. The service was horrible and one of the owner's attitude was just as bad. I had a complaint and when the owner called me back, he asked me if I was having a bad day. Updated review: since I last reviewed, this "pizza joint" has expanded to add in sit-down restaurant service. Delays & issues in my last reviews are fixed. Owner has become more approachable (appreciates feedback when things don't go right and actually corrects them) and while they seem to have lots of front counter staff over turn- are usually well trained. Pizza quality depends on who makes it. Sometimes it's perfect, other times it's just okay. The thick pizza/slices stand out when made correctly and are allowed to proof & rise enough. Steamtable food is very convenient when you want a grab n go, but food is not uniformly yummy - some is better than others. Parking is easy, getting out of the lot sometimes dicey due to high volume of traffic & partially blocked sight lines. Get the steak sandwich with sauce, onions & mozz..their rolls are unique & amazing and perfectly firm and crispy. Be warned- they often pitch out the steam table food & slices 1/2 and hour before closing, so no last minute bites for you. read more

When I did an order on Friday July 11 and got the pizza in my delivery, I did not expect that the price for a 24 cut pizza was $45. But when I tasted it, the pizza tasted like it was bathed in salt. I had called and made a complaint on Saturday. No manager was available called today they stated because of it being two days past, they could not doing anything. Homestyle pizza is a place where you can get a good slice of pizza and some other good products to go quickly and efficiently. I have never gone there to sit down for dinner so I can't really speak on the ambience except for what I see when I walk in, but I will say that it does Look like it has some serious facelift improvements that have been done to this building. There's now a beautiful dining room it looks like in the front and it definitely looks like a huge improvement. The food is stellar and definitely recommend it if anyone is in the area to stop in and try it, as far as the customer service goes, we are always impressed by the customer service because they are always fast and friendly and always try to do their best to make sure that we get what we want when we want it and how we want it. How the mighty have fallen. A once great pizza has become a half cooked mess. It was easy to see no care went in to the pizza I ordered. This is by far the most expensive pizza in the area and considering how long they've been in business, you'd think they'd have it down to a science. I'm not sure what happened or why, but having to throw out 3/4 of a pizza I spent over $20 for was the last straw. There are frozen pizzas in the supermarket that are less expensive and better quality than what we were served. I'm sorry I have to rate Homestyle one star. Yelp should offer a negative star system for times like this. We are long standing customers, over 25 yrs., and we always had reliably good food from Homestyle. Takeout tonite was very disappointing. We had Eggplant Parm..and it was actually Mozzarella Parm.. thick layers of cheese with 2 THIN layers of eggplant. The sauce was good, as always but the entre was poor. Probably one of the worse experiences I have ever had with a pizzeria. My father was visiting from Naples. He wanted a marinara pie. So I knew I had to find a skilled Pizzeria. Because most of the new generation of kids have no clue about quality. I have heard good things about Homestyle. I called to place my order for delivery. The kid who was taking my order sounded confused and with no real knowledge of the pizza industry. Uggh. So I tried to explain. A 12 cut pizza with marinara, fresh garlic, fresh basil, extra virgin olive oil. I even called back afterwards to speak to someone else to make sure it was understood correctly. I wanted my father to be atleast fairly happy. Huge disappointment. I paid the same price that someone would pay for a Margarite Pizza. With no cheese on it and no Sliced tomatoes. So I figured whoever was making the pizza would put alil extra work into a simpler pizza without the more expensive items on it. I was wrong what I received was an insult. A disappointment. It took 30 minutes from time we arrived for the food to be served. Only one waitress in duty and fairly busy during the noon hour. If you are on your lunch break, forget about eating here. Stopped in last week with parents after a daytime show at Proctors. We ate in the newly renovated dining room and was greeted right away by a waitress. We got the table we requested and the girl that sat us ended up being our waitress. She was great. Very attentive and took great care of us. Apps included some Buffalo Mac & Cheese and 2 bowls of Pasta Fagioli. Soup was excellent, and the BMC hit the spot. I recently tried Homestyle hoping to have a dine in experience. The dining room has still not been completed. Since we were already there we did take out. I wasn't impressed with the selection and even after we ordered they didn't heat the food up before giving it to us. If I go out for food I do not want to have to cook it. Now we have ordered here about ten times in the last year we have lived in Schenectady. This place doesn't seem to want your business. Just yesterday we placed an order for a pucillo pozza. No flavor whatsoever. I went from a four star review of this place to 1. The team here slacks in all ways from their cooking, customer service, to the rude people they hire. Four out of the 10 times the orders were completely wrong and we had to drive back to fix it. Although they are affordable and my preferred pizza place in the area we will have to look elsewhere. Bland pizza, raw dough, undercooked bacon those are just a couple of the things that bothered me with their pizzas. I cannot say all of the food is not good since I have not tried anything but their pizzas but we are in New York after all shouldn't we be eating decent pizza? Coming from the West Coast and living in the south I didn't know much about pizza but homestyle just needs to kick it up a notch or else they're going to lose so many customers, the latest reviews are so sad and if I was in management I'd go a further step to try to get those customers back. First disappointment in years of ordering. I've eaten in, done take out and get delivery a bit at work. Work orders are usually $80 to $100 and we tip 20% or more. Tonight it was highly disappointing. 2 paninis, which are supposed to come with fries, didn't. Upon calling I was told they no longer did and the online menu was outdated. They should update it or clarify upon ordering. One panini ( an all American burger panini) was a clump of hamburger , smaller than a small meatball, in the middle of two huge pieces of bread. So, we wanted to reward our students for their hard work and decided to have a pizza party. We ordered 2 x-large pies and half tray salad-$75! First of all that alone should have turned us off! The worse decision ever! The pizza arrived burnt, cheese wasn't cooked properly and did not stay on the dough. The pizza was bitter because it was so burnt and the students complained the entire time. It was a series of; "This is nasty, this taste bitter, the cheese just fell off my pizza, Mrs. blank I am sorry you wasted you money on this, Why didn't you buy Dominos?" It was terrible. Then to top it off, we looked at the receipt and discovered they took more money for the tip than permitted! Who does that? We called and they wanted us to hold on to the pizza and have them send 2 new ones. Students were already seated and ready to have their party. I told the manager/owner (did not let me know who he was) I took pictures; he asked us to forward them and that he would place a $17 credit for the next order, as if there would ever be another. This was the worse experience!!!!! Don't even give them the benefit of the doubt. You will not be satisfied. It literally tasted like curdled milk! Omg this place is amazing! Started off with a dozen wing medium and they were cooked perfect. Huge wings that were really crispy and just the right amount of heat! Food is good. Restaurant is outdated, cold and uncomfortable. Food is good. Pizza is comparable to other places in the area. The dinners are really good. The deserts seem old but I've only had the cheesecake so maybe that part of my review is biased. They don't have a small salad on the menu as a side but will make it if you ask. I wish they'd include that as an actual menu item. Their homemade dressing is delicious, too. My only gripe is the atmosphere - it's dark, cold and the seats are incredibly uncomfortable. Wendy and Michelle are the best!! One of my favorite pizza places in the entire world. Tomato pie was my favorite every time we'd come here growing up. I can't have it anymore (dairy allergy) and they were still able to accommodate me with WAY more than I was expecting.
