Hometown is just what you would expect from an independently run restaurant. Food is hearty, not too greasy, large array of menu items concentrating on breakfast, burger and fries and sandwiches for lunch. Service can be spotty but usually pretty good with friendly servers. Coffee more along the lines of food service plain but works well if made fresh. Weekend brunches are a specialty and it does draw a crown so be advised. read more

I should have known not to enter this establishment as I was entering the parking lot on a Saturday evening at 7pm, busiest time of the week for restaurant businesses, and the parking lot was empty but one car. I took my chances with my granddaughter and regretted it. Prices way to high for the quality of the food and service. Service was poor, waitress cussed a few times trying to make humor...not cool with my 11 year old granddaughter in tow. Plates piled up on our table as I tried taste testing something of quality on the buffet and had to hunt down waitress for check. I would hate to see what would happen if they were actually busy. Soup was salty as heck and my friends agreed Ed and it was later in the day so salad stuff picked over.. place was clean. Staff friendly and professional. ' First order the beast was so big it was raw. So I had to reorder. No a knock. Meaning look it is the luck of the draw and they had a special broasted. I had to get it to go. This places is locally owned. They have hard working ppl here. The locals support this place too. Decided to go here rather than where we were going to go. It was okay, nothing special. The salad bar has no cheese! This is WI people!! We eat cheese with just about everything. It also looked as if it was fresh express bagged up lettuce thrown into a bin. They didn't have the buffet stocked up good all the time either. My real complaint is the waitress. Kim is a total bitch. She rolled her eyes at me when she saw me go for a 2nd plate on the buffet and oh my gosh if you break the rules and share something from the buffet with someone not having it she comes over and threatens to charge you for it. I also wish they would have said the Diet Mountain Dew was a can and not fountain. Having a can of soda at a restraurant is a total rip off. Also had to ask for bill at the end. read more

One of my favorite spots in Green Bay. There are quirky farmhouse antiques on the walls, most of which are for sale. They carry a fun atmosphere and a lunch buffet. I highly recommend their breakfast dishes or steak. I believe that is where they really outdo similar diners. I loved the steak and eggs, cooked to perfection. And they even serve beer, wine, or margaritas to your table at a very competitively low price. read more

They seated everyone behind us before they got us. A waitress ignored us the whole time we were there! She serve all the other tables around us but not us once. Bad service!!! Didn't serve us new drinks when our cups were empty and not even pick up the plates that we finished! Food wasn't all that great! Wasn't too please and thrilled when they charged us on our lunch. We had a free card which they said buy 10 breakfast or lunch meals and get the 11th one free! They made us paid for everything!!! This is a great breakfast place. They always make the food exactly how I ask them too. If you want hoity-toity fancy don't go there. This is a down home atmosphere. I like the antiques they have around the restaurant plus some of them are for sale. The service is good as expected. Like I said this is a down-home restaurant and the wait staff spends a little extra time at your table actually talking with you. I have not tried the dinners there. This place was terrible! Went this morning with my husband and I had the worst service I've had at a restaurant in years, combined with dreadful food. We were lured in by their breakfast buffet and it was awful. I had a total of 3-4 bites of food - the bacon was rubber, the sausage was greasy and gritty, the pancake was tough to bite through. I couldn't finish my plate. Told the waitress how bad it was and she rolled her eyes and left the table without saying a single word to me. No apology, no offer to get me a different meal, no offer to take a few dollars off since I had paid NINE DOLLARS for 3-4 bites of food... nothing. Called over the manager and she assured me I *must* be getting sick since everyone else loves their food, so it had to be me. Went on to tell me that her waitress is amazing and everyone loves her. I've never seen anyone so rude or in denial managing a restaurant! A google search showed numerous other reviews like mine, one of which stating that the waitress in question is her daughter. She charged us full price for a meal I took a few bites of and continued to lecture us all the way out the door about how she's done this for 20 years and knows her stuff. Honey, if you've been at this 20 years and that's all the better your food is it is time to RETIRE! Terrible food, atrocious service, and bad management. Avoid this place! read more

Went in for dinner. It was all you can eat chicken and salad bar. Broasted chicken was ok. I've eaten better. There's salad bar was screaming for the health inspector. Temps weren't right, it was cross-contaminating other parts of the bar and there was hardly anything to choose from salad, cheese, a few relishes and three dressing. Ranch you can't screw up, but these folks found a way for that and it was warm. No, thank you. For those who love to stuff their faces and put on the calories, this is an attraction for you. Sunday for brunch came in to eat with my family. Waiting at the please wait to be seated sign for about 5 minutes before the girl checking people out at the counter pointed to a table and told us to sit there. I let her know we were expecting 5 and that we needed a bigger table. At that point we had to wait another 5 minutes for another waitress to clean off a table and seat us. She was quick to order our drinks but then disappeared for about 20 minutes. Once we got her attention again we ordered. My dad and husband got the buffet so they happily ate while my mom and I waited for eggs for about 25 minutes. I know it was Sunday and they were busy but two plates of eggs should not take that long to come out of the kitchen. Nothing was seasoned when I got it and the bread was way over toasted. The sausage patties were past the point of being greasy. Overall not a good experience for us and I will go elsewhere for better food quality and service. read more

We thought that we would give our normal breakfast spot a break and try this place for dinner, I know you're wondering why would we try a breakfast place for dinner. Typically we would go for dinner at our breakfast place also. So we had heard that this place had really good dinners also. Well, it was pretty good and good sized portions for the price. It's a basic "German" or "Midwest" style menu, broiled pork chops, meatloaf, mashed potatoes and gravy. They also have roast and sauerkraut and fish dinners. But if you are watching your diet, they have a variety of salads to choose from. I've been told that they have really good pancakes and we have tried to get there for them but we always end up going to our old standby, so I can't tell you if they're good or great. The people who work on the floor are pretty friendly and seem to like their job, which makes for a more enjoyable experience. Also, I think on Saturday night they have a Buffet set-up. It had a lot on it from what I could see, but it gets crowded for that. They also have call and order for pick up with a drive thru, pretty cool. read more

Because this restaurant is very close to our home, we really wanted to like it. Unfortunately, the food prevented us from doing so. the first time we went there, it was for breakfast. the Mexican omelet was just OK at best. don't bother with the breakfast buffet; it sucked. This place was disgusting! As we were seated...eating our just okay meal....I watched the cook at the window handle his long hair without gloves. He did not wash his hands. He continued to work with the food. We complained. We waited for the manager for over 15 minutes. The manager, Dan, did nothing to correct the situation with their cook. He continued to work with his hair down and no gloves. I would never recommend this restaurant to anyone! I'm sure that the owners, Steve and Brenda Hecker, could care less. read more
