One of the best filets I have ever had! Our waitress Nicole was outstanding. She was very personable and knew my boyfriend and I were visiting Greenbay for the first time. She gave us a lot of wonderful recommendations. The old fashion was amazing you could smell the smoke as soon as it was on our table. It was strong and sweet. This is located in the Northland Hotel and is just a fabulous restaurant/bar because it's beautiful with hi ceilings and a beautiful bar. The restaurant has a wine rack wall and the whole room is very elegant with tall windows, wood paneling and nice furniture. They have a private dining room off to the side. To my amazement this was the first place to actually know what a gin Rickey was and I didn't have to explain to the bartender how to make one, the other bar didn't know how to make one. read more

I knew the Ham looked bad in my eggs Benedict. I was ill within about an hour. Ruined my day.

Party of five for brunch. It was over an hour after placing our order that we received our meals. These were all egg dishes which should be a "no brainer" in the kitchen. To say it was frustrating watching tables seated after us receiving their meals is an understatement. What made matters worse? The situation was never acknowledged by our waitperson. After 45 minutes waiting, we inquired about our order and was told it would be out shortly. No apology given. One individual had ordered the coddled eggs and they were delivered to the table a good 10 minutes after everyone else had received their food. And to be clear, the restaurant wasn't particularly busy! For the life of me, I can't understand why a 5 top took so long to service. Where do I begin!? The old Hollywood glam vibe upon entering the walnut is enough in itself. The seating, the dining area, the glassware all of it is right up my alley. Just beautiful. The menu is on a tablet, which each person at the table gets - this is new to me I have never experienced this. Not only is the menu on this tablet but each item you click it will show you a photo and a well written description of whatever it is. (Kids enjoyed that haha) they served a little crostini starter plate with hummus, fresh bread and butter. I ordered the bone in sirloin and when I say perfection I mean perfection Tender and cooked just how I wanted. The wasabi mashed potatoes and au gratin potatoes were also delicious. My least favorite was the calamari I felt it lacked flavor and the oil to cook it was maybe old but everything else made up for it. Great wine and cocktail list as well. We had dined at the Walnut A few months earlier and enjoyed the food and service very much. However, on our return the menu had been changed drastically and many of the best items had been taken off. I ordered the sage linguini w duck ragout. What I received was a bowl of tepid bland broth and a few noodles. It was absolutely the worst food I've eaten in a restaurant in a long time. Sadly, the bartender realized dish was wrong, but made no effort to remove the offensive, overpriced item from our bill and I ate only the salad and bazaar soup of the day. I ordered a dessert and was served a product of Sysco tiramisu. We are staying at the hotel in a couple of weeks but will make arrangements to dine elsewhere. So sad and disappointing and terribly expensive. I shall miss my $200 and say farwell to what was once a good restaurant. Phooey!!!! read more

This is a 5-star experience from beginning to end. The location and decoration of the restaurant were beautiful and calming, and the staff top notch. Managers were engaging and interested in every aspect or my experience. The Ambiance is beautiful but freezing. The service was horrible. Waited for 45 minutes for drinks and early an hour and half for food. Our waitress was less than enthused to help and my husbands chicken Marsala was just chicken with brown gravy. My "risotto" was actually cooked barley. No thank you. Went here for our anniversary over a Packer weekend. The highlight of our dinner was our waiter Guy. He went out of his way to hand stuff some olives with Blue cheese to my wife's request. I did have an issue with my steak coming out cold. They offered to make a new one and the manager was genuinely apologetic. I chose to eat it and they chose to remove it from the bill. I would give it five stars. However we had a drink at the bar before we sat down and the bartender was kind of gruff. He looked like he did not want to be there. We stopped in on a busy Saturday night for a glass of wine and dessert. The bartender was super quick, witty and had a really cool personal story connection to the hotel that she shared with us. I loved it! I got a white wine that was really dry and my husband ordered a red that was sweet so we swapped wine because we prefer the opposite in our wines. Which was totally okay. The red was slightly sweet and worth the price point on the menu. The bar area was gorgeous. I would love those floors in my home. Leather chairs are roomy and comfortable. The Tres Leche cake was really a wonderful way to finish our evening out. It was not too sweet and the cream sauce they poured on top was rich and divine. This is a high class 1920s style restaurant with incredibly knowledgeable staff. The experience of being in a building built in the 20s is what makes this a five star place. The atmosphere is one of a kind. You feel as if you are taken to a different time period. The craft cocktails are incredible especially the smoked cocktails. The 304 is an original cocktail and it is a must try. The calamari is very tender and makes for a great appetizer. I also recommend the baby spinach salad. If you are looking for an elegant location do not hesitate to come to The Walnut Room. The price is worth EVERY penny. read more

The atmosphere of this beautiful vintage hotel is a treat. When they first opened, I was a fan of their creative menu. This time I was disappointed. The menu is pretty ordinary. As a vegan, I struggled to find anything that I wanted to order. The waitress suggested doubling the squash veloute appetizer. While delicious, it was so high in fat that I couldn't eat more than a few bites. My husband liked his small beef tenderloin, but it was overpriced at $42. read more

I can't say enough good things about the Walnut Room. From start to finish, our experience was excellent. New to town and our first Christmas away from family, we decided to go out for Christmas Eve dinner. I made reservations in early November through Open Table (which I also highly recommend) for a 5:30 seating. We arrived on time and were immediately seated by a very kind and welcoming hostess. We had a table next to a window overlooking the YMCA across the street. The restaurant ambiance is warm and inviting, with tasteful decor throughout. Our server, Laura, was top notch. Knowledgeable, funny, down to earth and personable, she answered all of our (many) questions and made the experience classy and upscale while still being fun, comfortable and unstuffy. She was a gem! There food was outstanding. I went with the prix fixe 3 course meal that was featured. Appetizer: Roquefort souffle. This was incredible. Decadent yet light, it was a perfect starter. Entree: Ham with red currant glaze, sautéed green beans with roasted hazelnuts and sweet potato wedges. The ham had an excellent flavor and the red currant sauce complimented it well. The green beans were good but the addition of the hazelnuts took them to an entirely next level of goodness. The sweet potatoes were seasoned perfectly, soft on the inside with a slightly crispy outside that made them incredibly rich. Dessert: Dessert trio consisting of figgy pudding, egg nog brûlée and chocolate hazelnut pudding. I almost couldn't have another bite after the app and entree but I couldn't help myself. Everything on the dessert plate was outstanding, though my personal favorite was the egg nog brûlée. The Walnut Room has it all-excellent service, atmosphere and food in a beautiful, historic setting. Roam the hotel lobby area for some Instagram worthy photo ops. Again, Laura was an incredible server and we recommend requesting her. My husband and I will absolutely be back to the Walnut Room to try more of what they have to offer on the regular menu. I have not been in Green Bay for years and years. My attorney husband has a conference today in town and we came up together last minute to check out the re-done and re-opened Hotel Northland. (Another review on the hotel this afternoon!) We had a 7 PM reservation at The Walnut Room - the fine dining restaurant within the hotel. A fellow Green Bay GK attorney gave the place a high rating and mentioned to ask for the waiter Brian. Lucky for us, Brian was "in the house" and our server BF made the difference - we had a great night. The menus are on tablets - I am an old school girl so my husband read to me and Brain laughed. We shared one cold vodka martini - had ice crystals too and enjoyed the oysters Rockefeller - could have been served while bubbling - but flavor very good - classic style, and no burned upper mouth. The Cesar salad was divine - gorgeous green and purple baby Bibb lettuces/anchovies/light on the dressing - just what we asked. We are sharing diners (we like to finish all of the food on the plate when it is done well.). For main course we ordered the salmon, green beans and wasabi-mashed potatoes. WOW - we complimented the chef - salmon poached - gorgeous - beans spot-on - not overcooked - but the combo with the wasabi-mashed was new to us both and we loved it. We lingered over the entire meal and had fun with Brian - talked love - life - where to live - and more. We had a simple pinot noir with supper and were served two sweet meringues when we got our bill. All fairly priced for a fine-dining restaurant. Very nice ambience. The food was excellent. Unfortunately, we only ate the appetizers we ordered. We waited an hour and ten minutes for our mains. There were two tables (six people total) who had ordered ahead of us. Our waitress was friendly but would disappear for long periods of time even though we couldn't see much else going on in the restaurant. Eventually we canceled our mains and asked to pay. The manager was nice enough to comp the entire meal even though we insisted on paying for what we ordered. He said it was normal to wait one and a half to two hours while eating there. That makes no sense to me. The food we ate was five stars but the service (wait time and waitress availability) was one star. Overall, I give it three stars. Won't be going back as I typically like my main course in front of me within about 35 minutes of ordering. I don't think that's unreasonable. read more

The server was very nice and amazing. She was very sweet and helpful with our menu. She did a phenomenal job. Staff and everyone was amazing. We got the filet mignon, chicken pasta Marsala, French onion soup, grapefruit salad. All were decent food. I wouldn't say the best. We got the old fashioned for drinks and smoked walnut old fashioned. Both were decent. It seemed like they were trying too hard with the food. I would say just try it and go from there. Tried this resteraunt as a special "date night" with my wife. The food was excellent, the atmosphere was amazing, and our waiter was very attentive. So why only 2 stars? First, the prices are INSANE! We did not order drinks (had water), did not order appetizers, did not order dessert...and the price for a 2 person dinner? EIGHTY SIX DOLLARS!!!!! The entres and the veggies were sold separately. To make matters worse, we used two $25 gift cards to help defray the cost, the rest we put on a standard credit card. Days later we found that the resteraunt only validated one of the cards. When we called to straighten things out, we were treated rudely and were not helped. Where our 2nd gift card ended up who knows. Clearly this place is meant for the ultra wealthy. Tonight we waited THREE HOURS for our food. Were told TWICE that they lost our food ticket. I love the atmosphere, but there's something seriously wrong with the staffing of this place. When we finally got our food, the wedge salad and gnocchi were sublime, but the pork chop was dry and overcooked and the veal was tender but had no seasoning at all. We've been here four times now, and every time there have been redeeming elements that have brought us back, but every time there have also been serious flaws. We come back because there are so few fine dining options in Green Bay, but really hope they get their stuff together. read more

Wanted my daughter to see the Northland so we came for breakfast yesterday, Christmas Eve. The coffee was way to strong ( and I like strong coffee) I couldn't drink it. I ordered eggs over medium and they were over easy and the hash browns were freezer burned with chunks of very hard pieces I had to spit out. Bacon was good. No children's menu as we had a 5 year old with us. They were not very busy but the service was slow at best. I did not complain because I didn't want to wait any longer. Too bad. The restaurant had recently opened after being closed for five months. We stayed at the hotel and decided to eat here. Very pleasantly surprised. I had the Elk Loin and my wife had the scallops. She had a crab and squash salad and i had a wedge. Also a side of augratin potatoes. Each dish was well prepared and presented. Will definitely come back. My husband and I walked in with our toddler and baby for brunch on a Sunday morning. The dining room had a 4-5 tables already seated, so no big deal. After ordering, we noticed the service was getting pretty slow. A 4-top table wasn't even getting their meals brought out at the same time. We were being patient but hoping that our son's waffle would come out soon since he was doing well thus far but getting fidgety. We were told several times that our food was just about done. Thankfully our son's waffle showed up with some sketchy looking strawberries but at least he was eating after a 45 minute wait. We had to go to another event, so we asked if we could get our undelivered food boxed up. After a few minutes of scrambling, the hostess came over and said the kitchen had lost our food ticket. My husband and I looked at each other in disbelief, wondering how our son got his waffle but the rest of the meal was lost. In short, my husband and I left extremely hungry. Maybe there was only one cook back there, but considering it's a hotel restaurant for Sunday brunch, you'd think there would be more. Definitely would not recommend ever. read more
