Not my first time here, but it is my first review for them! This is really good pizza! (Is there…read morebad pizza?) very traditional, thin, Neopolitan style crust. Not huge, but two or three people could enjoy. (6 slices cut) I wanted to try something different so we got two and boxed the rest. Shelby greeted and seated us, and although she lacked a little knowledge on the beer menu, she made up for that with a trip to the bar to investigate our questions on sour beer, and came back with two excellent samples! We settled on a Dr. Robot and the Charcut-a-pie. I loved the toppings and balsamic drizzle. Goat cheese and arugula just go together. A little honey and I was in heaven! The crust on this one was a little well done, which disappointed but, the overall flavor was on point. Next, we sampled the Spicy Italian. I'm usually pretty good with spicy things, and while this was no exception, it did have both of us in a small sweat! If you are averse to spicy, stick with something else. This crust was also cooked and not over done. I'm not sure what McDonoughs' obsession is with vaults, but it seems to be a recurring theme around the square. You'll find vaults or at least doors that look like vaults all over. The rest of the decor inside and outside was well done. Exposed brick gives it immediate rustic charm, while black floors, raw wood art, and leather stools wrap the package nicely. I definitely like their lighting! Oversized bulbs hung around the pizza oven bar (which you can sit at if there's space) and giant hoop rings finish the rest of the space. It isn't that glaring light that spotlights your table, it's just a nice warm ambient light that makes you wanna pour a vintage red into a wine glass over and over. Oh! I almost forgot, they do have an outdoor patio up front, so on those less humid days and nights, I'll definitely be hanging out there!

The restaurant wasn't very crowded. Our waitress was great. Very high energy. She offered great recommendations. Everything was perfect. We ordered Cheesy Bread as an appetizer and we split a Philly Fry Pie pizza! The drinks were also good -especially for the price. This is definitely a place we will come back to in the future.

Today, the pizza is just like how we remember it!! They have MORE THAN GREAT pizza. They make their dough fresh daily, and use quality ingredients. I would like more sauce, but next time I can remember to ask for extra. They also put this parmesan mix on the dough which makes it even better!! They have good tea, and have a great atmosphere! You feel like you are in an old brick-walled pizza establishment. The staff are attentive, also! (Pro tip: Get a seat towards the front to watch the trains go by). If you are in the area, I highly recommend you stopping by. Great food!

It was pretty busy, but we were seated right away, so far, so good. Unfortunately, things went downhill from there. Drinks (two waters and three kid cokes) took about 20 minutes to arrive, and our food came out even later. The mini garlic breadsticks and cheese bread hit the table around 6:10, and our two slices (The 1893 and the Lovin Spicy Southern) didn't show up until 6:25. For just two slices and a couple of apps, the wait felt excessive especially with kids in tow and a time crunch. The food itself was underwhelming. Nothing was bad, but nothing stood out either. Definitely not the "wow" factor I was hoping for when searching for a go-to hometown pizza joint for our family Friday nights. That said, the service was friendly and the place has a local vibe I really wanted to love. I just wish the food and timing matched the warm welcome. Still on the hunt for that perfect neighborhood pizza spot.

The waitress was very friendly. Our food came out in a decent amount of time and it was hot and delicious. I ordered Angel hair pasta with chicken and. My husband ordered pecan chicken. They were both so delicious but huge portions so I had a pretty big take home meal.. I also had for dessert some crème brûlée. It was delicious as well. I did not get a picture of it. I forgot. I highly recommend this place. We've been here twice and it has been a perfect experience both times

My recommendation is to Uber and then enjoy the square. I was meeting someone for lunch and this was in the middle from our destination. It had great reviews and pasta and was what I was craving. It's a small, warm and inviting little place. Service is fast and good. Menu is limited which is not a bad thing but enough variety. I absolutely loved my fettuccine. The pasta was made fresh and you could seriously taste the difference between fresh made and boxed pasta. The crème brûlée was on point and a great finish to lunch. I had plenty of left overs. If you're in the area, definitely stop in and get you some fresh pasta! This is located on the corner next to Queen Bee's Coffee shop.

Simple order... but executed the right way. Let me start with the pizza, because that's the headline. That crust? Straight up made with love. Crispy on the outside with that perfect golden finish, but still soft with just the right bounce on the inside. Flavor was on point--nothing bland, nothing overdone. You can tell whoever was on the oven knew exactly what they were doing. Hats off to the cook for that one. The cheese pizza kept it clean and classic--melty, well-balanced, and let that crust shine. The pepperoni had a nice crisp on the edges with a little grease pop, exactly how you want it. Now, everything else? Solid. The garlic knots were soft and buttery with good garlic flavor--not overpowering, just right. The cheese breadsticks came out hot, loaded, and satisfying--definitely a good add-on to the order. I grabbed my food to go, but had a few minutes to look around while I waited. The spot has that laid-back, local pizza shop feel--nothing fancy, just real, comfortable, and focused on the food. You can tell it's a place people come back to. Final verdict: If you're in McDonough and want a legit New York-style pizza experience, Johnny's delivers--especially on that crust. That alone makes it worth the stop.

Unfortunately, after the way this situation was handled, I will not be returning. I placed and paid for an order online. When my husband picked up the pizzas, he was charged again at the store for the same order. I understand that mistakes happen, but what matters is how a business responds when a mistake is brought to their attention. The next day, I went in person to address the issue and was told the manager was not there. I then called for the next two days and was told I would receive a call back, which never happened. After receiving no response, I returned in person with my bank statements showing the duplicate charges. Instead of taking responsibility or even attempting to resolve the issue, I was told it did not happen and was refused a refund. That is unacceptable. A loyal customer should not have to chase a business for days, provide proof, and still be dismissed. This was not about the amount of money. This was about integrity, accountability, and basic customer service. The previous ownership would have made this right without hesitation. Sadly, that is clearly not the standard anymore. Word of mouth is one of the most powerful forms of advertisement, and I will make sure people know about my experience. I strongly caution anyone considering ordering from this location. Check your receipts, check your bank statements, and do not assume that a mistake will be corrected. Based on my experience, loyalty and proof meant nothing.

If you love beer, then you will experience a very long list of various beers and I like that's it's broken down by variety and flavor. The pizza was good but if you prefer NY Style pizza you might not like how thick the crust is. Overall the pizza was good and fairly priced. This was our first time here so I'm not sure if it was normal but even though it wasn't really busy, service was slow. Our waitress was really friendly but she was working both inside and outside so we did have to wait around a while for our check.
