Pizza is such a personal preference. Derby City is locally owned and they've opened quite a few spots in Louisville. While less than 2 miles from my house, I'd forgotten about this spot and ordered it for a Friday night dinner. Easy to order online and no issues to pick up on time. This spot has plenty of parking because it shares space in a shopping center. My pepperoni pizza was thin and cut in squares. It lacked in sauce so it was a bit less flavorful than expected, even with the pepperoni. Plenty of cheese. Okay for a quick pick up; however, not my pizza preference for Louisville. read more

Was waiting for it and didn't get a knock on the door it was just left on the ground... was waiting by the door so I would have answered with no wait. I had the meat lovers pizza because I love meat. I was not disappointed. They have an app to tell you when the pizza is ready.... It did not. Ordered on a Monday afternoon. It took an hour to get one large 3 topping delivered from 4 miles away. Arrived lukewarm. Crust was tough, felt like I was eating a cardboard liner. It had that feel. However the toppings were tasty, and that created a strange mix. Delicious on top, subpar flooring underneath. Like beautiful carpet laid on bare concrete. Recently visited Derby City Pizza as part of Louisville Pizza Week! Great opportunity to try pies from several eateries for $9, and the pie we had here did not disappoint! Covid season--so I won't review the interior as we got take out. For our pie we had The Champ--a delicious mix of pepperoni, mushrooms, olives (black and green, onions, peppers and a nice layer of melted cheese. The crust was crisp and flaky (in a good way) but was able to support the pile of toppings above. Sauce was tangy and tasty and a classic pizza seasoning. My daughter wanted pizza tonight so we went and got it. We've never been to a Derby city and after everyone has told us how good it is we figured we would give it a shot too. I ordered the barbecue chicken pizza just for a change. Well I'm glad I did because it was delicious after eating majority of the pie. The barbecue sauce was pretty tangy and it did get kind of old, but it was still quite good. My daughter got a kids cheese pizza which she devoured three of the four little wedges. My son got the pepperoni and he realized he didn't really like it but he did go for the barbecue chicken. I thought the pepperoni was fine but nothing special. The first time I ever tried Derby City Pizza was last week and I ordered it on Uber Eats. Even though it was basically lukewarm when it got to me, it was still excellent and the pizza was even still crispy. Ever since then, I have been wanting to dine in from the location we ordered Uber eats from. I wasn't expecting the place to be so tiny. Despite that, it looks like it can seat a lot of people. We ordered our food on their kiosk (although I believe you can also have your order taken by a person at the other register) and took our seats. The young lady who was not making pizzas (the other two people behind the counter were prepping them) immediately went to grab our drinks. Service was fast and friendly and the food came out in no time! We were also really impressed with the girl running food/drinks and cashing people out. She really was working her butt off! And she had a great attitude. I should've got her name because I would come back just to receive service from her (that and the great food). The pizza was just as delicious as I remember, but this time it was hot. The cheese bread was excellent. Also, they have big red on the fountain here. We dined in at this restaurant over the weekend during lunchtime. We were the only ones in the restaurant, but they had plenty of seating inside and outside. They not only have pizzas, but also a few pasta dishes and some sandwiches. I got the Buffalo chicken pizza on thin crust, and I thought it was nice. Some small chunks of chicken and a perfect amount of Buffalo sauce drizzled on top, with a thin crispy crust that wasn't overcooked. The person I was with got the lasagna, which looked great in the picture on the menu but was mediocre in reality. It was very cheesy, but the pasta was way overcooked. While my meal was fine, other aspects left a lot to be desired. Our drinking classes looked dirty, like they were stained from sodas. The teenagers working in the store were talking loudly about personal business and playing videos on their phones. The actual waitress who helped us was nice, and even offered us drinks to go, but the whole atmosphere was awkward. I've had pretty good takeout from here before, and I'd get the Buffalo chicken pizza again. But I definitely wouldn't recommend dining in, or opting for something other than pizza. read more

The thin crust pizzas take me back to my youth back in Southern Indiana (Arnie's & Pizza King), this pizza is a bit different though, where the crust is crispier and the topping are not chopped and diced. I think the pizza was warm, not hot, due to the long drive, who knows maybe the driver drove through Indiana from Planview to Middletown, lol. I was excited to learn that Derby City Pizza has a crustless pizza for those of us who eat low-carb, and that they have a location on the east end of town (Plainview). I love supporting local pizza shops instead of national chain pizza joints! Derby City Pizza is located in a strip mall on Linn Station Rd, adjacent to Kroger on South Hurstbourne Parkway. This location is open for indoor dining and the tables were compliant with 6' restrictions, but we opted to do a carry out instead. Our pizzas were ready when we arrived and the helpful, courteous staff were all wearing masks. My favorite part about the pizza was the sauce. It is not sweet like many other pizza sauces and there was a decent amount of each topping that I had requested (I really dislike ordering green olives on a pizza and finding 1-2 small slices on the entire pizza!).
