On multiple occasions, I was asked to accept shifts that required lengthy commutes, transforming my role into something akin to that of an "Uber driver" rather than allowing me to engage in meaningful caregiving. One particular incident stands out: I was sent to a location where no client was present, as the company had arranged a ride without confirming the appointment. After attempting to contact the "24-hour emergency line" for over half an hour without any response, I found myself needing the assistance of police officers to reach the correct site. This experience highlighted the inadequacies in communication and support within the company, and to my disappointment, I received no acknowledgment or apology for the distress it caused. When I resigned, I requested to receive my final paycheck for all hours worked, yet I only received payment for one day. HR informed me that the remaining pay would be processed in the next pay period, which seemed inconsistent and unfair. Such practices may undermine the trust and morale of employees who are dedicated to their roles. I genuinely believe that Freedom Home Care has immense potential to create a positive impact in the lives of both its clients and staff. Daria was fabulous. My procedure meant I needed to be at the hospital at 5:30am. Ugh. We left my home at 4:30am and Daria didn't bat an eye at the time. Afterward, Daria pulled the car up to the hospital door, helped me in and took me to Target to help me get the one lens from my glasses removed that corresponded with the eye that just had surgery. Unfortunately, I was in a tremendous amount of pain and Daria was there every step of the way. I have already requested her for my second cataract surgery. I cannot say enough praise for Comfort Keepers and especially for Daria.

Then for the next 5 weeks a different nurse came out first twice a week and then once a week to change the dressing and just check up on things. All went well until the course of antibiotics was finished. The nurse was supposed to come and remove the PICC line on Wednesday (February 22nd). First there was a miscommunication between Lifecare and the doctor. The doctor's office claimed Lifecare was supposed to contact them to get the order to remove the PICC line; Lifecare claimed that the doctor was supposed to contact them. In whatever case, the doctor's office contacted Lifecare on Wednesday afternoon to authorize the removal of the PICC line. But now, Lifecare is unable to find a nurse to remove the PICC line and they have stopped communicating with me at all. I have no idea if or when I can get the PICC line removed and in the meantime I am breaking out from the tape keeping the PICC line in place.

After an intense knee surgery, I was in need of additional PT, and from my very first session, Carrie was consistently a good listener, respected my feelings, and honored my pain, progress, and situation. She always put me first and acknowledged that I knew my body best. Every session was catered and personalized to what I needed at the moment and she never defaulted to a standard routine. From icing to taping, to using a variety of PT tools, I was always impressed with her dedication to my case and her genuine desire to heal me. Carrie never seized to impress me with her knowledge as she would be quick to grab a knee model and name ligaments, tendons, and their functions to help my understanding. I really valued how she stayed on top of my health by being in constant communication with my surgeon, knee specialist, and keeping records of my images and paperwork. What I most appreciated about my over two months of being Carrie's patient, is how in tune she was with how I was feeling and what I needed. She never questioned my pain or tolerance--at every stage, she acknowledged and respected my sentiments. In addition, my insurance says I owe less than what I am being billed. I have brought this to Athletico's attention and provided the EOB's from my insurance and they continue to text that my statements are ready to be paid but they haven't made any changes to the statements or reached out with an explanation of the discrepancy. Based on this I feel they are trying to balance bill me which they are not allowed to do based on negotiated discounts with my insurance. If you use Athletico I would review your statements carefully before paying.
