I have done business with homewood lumber for 30 years. I used to recomend them to everyone i met in the construction business. The people that worked there bent over backwards to help. Times have changed. I went to the location in roseville near blue oaks where they sell trim and do windows and doors. I think the door shop has moved there also. I went to the reception desk to order some crown that they no longer stock, and i knew that. I asked the girl if she knew an approximate time the truck that delivers the trim delivered there. She said she didnt. I said does someone know maybe in the warehouse what window i would have. She said no. I went to another desk and that lady said the same thing. I was getting annoyed that no one would give me a window. Another guy came out and he said the same thing. I went out to my truck got on the phone to the other home wood in rocklin and jenny said usually by ten but the keleher truck is here now. How come no one at the roseville location knows this. Because they dont want to tske the time to help. I oredered the trim there to be shipped to the rocklin store and they told me my credit card was declined. I gave them my debit card and they told me it was declined. I said i see what you are doing. Left there went to rocklin and ordered my crown there ans asked chris what time keleher gets there and he said there alreday gone but they were early. How come the rocklin homewood formerly meeks knows this and not one of the five people at roseville do. Well its because the folks at rosevill homewood dont care. Thats why i was the only customer in that whole store. I dont use them for doors since ron left and wont go back. I will follow through and get in touch with the corporste office. Home wood is pretty interesting place because they have stuff that no one else has in Sacramento area. We needed a door for one of our properties. And home wood had it. Great customer services. Great people working there. The customer service is excellent. When you buy something the loaders were loaded on your truck. There's a lot of parking spot. They also have different kinds of patio on the display which is outside. So if you are looking for a door that no one else has, or are you just looking to build a patio that's the place for you to go they will be more than happy to help you read more

My mom and I came here to purchase a large amount of lumber to redo her large and small decks. However, we will not be returning after the experience we just encountered. Whoever the short, heavyweight, bald headed man who intercepted us, was incredibly rude and dismissive. Even if by chance Homewood could accommodate her with better prices, she would rather pay more out of pocket then deal with a company who hires people who represent them like this. We will be sure the contractor who sent us, also knows to not shop here. Customer service is hard and taxing, I get it. People are rude and talk down to you at every opportunity, but if you think it's appropriate to treat your customers like your worst experience, it may be time to move on. Homewood stocks quality lumber at very reasonable prices. Less expensive than Home Depot and much better quality wood. Very quick and efficient delivery. Call for a quote and see how competitive they are in comparison to the big box stores. I also found their metal fasteners, post bases, and connectors to be less expensive than the competition. Unbelievably unprofessional! In mid-December, we visited Homewood and met with sales (un)professional Cynthia Brazell. We are in the midst of a major remodel and were looking for a specific entry door and hardware. Cynthia was helpful and within an hour we had completed the purchase (we thought). She prepared a quote with all specifics and pricing on the door and hardware and we gave her our credit card in payment for the $2,000+ order. She said that she wanted to verify the existing entry jam dimensions with our general contractor and we told her that we'd have him contact her the following day. Which he did. This week, six weeks later, we learned that she never ordered the door. I called and her associate said they would give her a message to contact us. The following day, I called and left a DETAILED voicemail message and also sent an email, asking for a prompt reply. She never did. This project is not new construction, but a remodel with a specific timeline for both the general and his subs (the door will be painted). Cynthia obviously totally dropped the ball or is downright incompetent. That she has totally ghosted us suggests that neither she, nor her company, value customer service, even to a small degree. I am unimpressed with the customer service at Homewood Lumber in Loomis. I attempted to contact the person who was given our truss account twice over a weeks time. I did not receive a call back from him until I got in contact with his supervisor. He also continued to not call back when he said he would, and I had to call him back again for scheduling the delivery of our trusses. We tried to stop in and pay our bill, and had to wait 15 minutes for someone to get off the phone to help us. He didn't know the amount, and was not willing to look it up for us. We ended up taking a guess, which was wrong, and now we will have to write another check. While waiting in the store to pay our bill, I overheard another customer come in who had got the wrong supplies delivered. When he told the person at the counter, they rudely denied that he had ordered through them. When you visit Homewood Lumber in Loomis CA, if you're lucky enough to be hooked up with either Ron Horton or Adam, you have my word that you will be well-taken-care-of. My family and I owe a debt of gratitude to both Ron and Adam for pulling apart a sticky situation that had occurred, and not stopping until they had made the situation right. This meant a great deal to my parents, money was involved, and they're in their 80's and on a fixed income. A lot of companies would have just brushed us under the nearest piece of carpet but, Ron Horton and Adam both went out of their way to see that the situation got fixed, and got fixed correctly. I've got to agree with many of the other reviews I've seen in here about customer service. Went in today to spend a couple of grand in a new entry door. As I walked in and looked around for about 10 minutes, I was expecting someone to approach and ask if I needed any assistance. Ah, I see a person sitting at 'Customer Service', maybe that's where I start. Nope, "Go talk to the guy in the green shirt" sitting at a desk. Not to interested in helping, but finally Jeremy gets up from behind his desk and shows us where the exterior door are and went back to his desk. Got the feeling I wasn't high on the priority list. When I had some questions about a door, got really vague answers and didn't seem really concerned about helping. Honestly, I went to Home Depot after this and got better service. What started off as a good experience ended with the worse experience I've ever had yet. We ordered doors back in May and one of them was a "custom" door to which we agreed with. We got our doors ordered in May and delivered in the beginning of June. All the doors were stacked so when the guy delivered them, he just placed them in my garage. Finally as we were getting ready for have our doors put in, my husband and I started looking at them and counted and realized we are missing our custom door. I looked at the receipt and sure enough, we paid for it. We went into the office on Monday and we explained our situation and they did notice that they were "back ordered" cause they didn't have the "dimensions"??? Like what??? We gave all the dimensions when we ordered them with Bill. I didn't stress much about it and told her that we are getting our doors installed this Saturday and we need to get them by Friday and she promised us that we will. Bill called me on Tuesday and asked me again for the dimensions, which I told him again! He said the doors will be ready by Friday. I called again on Wednesday to confirm that we will still get our doors delivered by Friday and she said she spoke to her manager and said we will have them by Friday at our house. Sure enough, Friday comes and nothing! We called them over 10 times and all we hear our lies. "The hinges are back ordered" "we didn't know the size" my husband got so fed up and went to the store (which is a 40 min drive one way) and he came to the same lies. Bill kept on telling him different stories from "today is the first day I'm hearing that your door is missing" (I emailed him on Monday and explained it all to him & spoke to him on Tuesday on the phone). Pretty much, we won't have our doors by Saturday and don't even know when we will get them cause it's all lies after lies with them there. So upset and so stressed. We have waited for the contractor for over a month to come do the doors and they won't even be able to do them all cause of a mistake that the salesperson made. Common, you had since May to fix this mistake. Long story short, I DON'T RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYONE!!!!!!! Save your time and you headaches and buy your stuff elsewhere. They feed you with lies over and over again just so you leave them alone! Don't know how business is done around there. They won't even compensate you. Bill even dared and tried to blame this on my husband??? He is a liar and I'm never doing business with this place ever again! Our contractor had a terrible time trying with them continuing to get the truss order right. Turns out they shorted us one. They also did not crown two of them, to the carpenters had to fix that problem. And the hardware connectors were sometimes loose or randomly placed in the middle of a board. He has only recently had trouble with this, but it has been constant. He's looking at dropping them for truss orders. read more

Seems like with all the other reviews it falls all together that the sales reps only want to help contractors. Well Jeremy is different. He welcomed us and asked us if we needed any help. I let him know about the custom door that we wanted and he knocked it out. He also wanted to make sure that I was sending in the right measurements and educated me on the different doors. He suggested to me to ask our contractor to double check the measurements so that we order the right door, so we did. Good thing we did, or the door would have been too small. Thanks Jeremy. Jeremy, keep up with what you are doing and you make more sales then the other sales rep at Homewood because you know how to take care of the outside customer and also help with the contractors. Keep up the good work! Last comment: I started with Chris Kurshy and he never answers the phone or emails. I always had to wait on the phone or call back. (Operator wasn't always friendly either) I even had to come down to the store and wait at his desk until he was ready one time. Out of control. Was very rare that he would ever pick up. I even told him he must be making some good money with just helping contractors and not homeowners to not return calls or emails and he laughed. I usually do not write negative reviews, but their recent behavior warrants some comment. I have been a regular customer of Homewood over the years purchasing doors, mill work , etc. and service was acceptable. Recent visits have met with rude, arrogant behavior and little in the way of help, plus virtually none of the staff even bother to wear masks. there is a "don't care" attitude permeating the store. I can appreciate these are tough times and they may be going through some restructuring pains after acquiring Meeks, but enough is enough! Consistently inconsistent. We placed an order and was expecting it to arrive on the day they told us last week Thursday. Surprise! Not there. Reconfirmed for next week Monday. Next week arrives. Surprise! No delivery. I know people get busy and things slip occasionally. So, I called and followed up for the next delivery date, reconfirming since my crew that has already come to my project twice with no work to do two times = money out of my pocket two times. I thought giving them a two-star review would be too harsh until I saw the many one-star reviews. Here's my story.... A general contractor that we almost hired ordered the initial plans for trusses for our small addition. At one point, we switched to a new contractor, and I called Homewood to finalize the order. The person I talked to, Jackie, was not very friendly and had difficulty finding the order. Eventually, she found it. Ok, so then we had a several month delay on our side, and ended up with yet another contractor. I called again to really, truly finalize the truss order, get them ordered, and get a delivery date. Well, hate to tell you, but their software changed, so they needed to redo the drawings. No problem, as we had plenty of time. I'm asked if the specs are accurate. Yes. Do you have a framer/contractor? Yes. Well, he has to approve them? Excuse me? Nothing has changed, so I signed the form. Ok. So, I pay, the trusses get made, and a delivery date is scheduled. They send out someone, apparently before first light to "assess" the situation. How he could possibly see anything is a mystery of the sea. He decides that the trusses can't be put on the roof. Excuse me? I call and he comes back, we discuss the options, and he agrees that it shouldn't be an issue. They can put them on the garage section, and the contractor can walk them over. My bad, I have to delay the delivery due to rain. I try to reschedule, but suddenly that's a big deal. After a lot of back and forth, along with people not returning calls, we finally get a date/time certain. The delivery date arrives, and the driver shows up. Hooray! Except that he's such a total jerk, that it was unclear he was going to put them where we need them. He wants me to sign a liability waiver for a couple of things, with the only relevant one being roof placement. I note on the sheet that the others are not applicable. Ok, so he puts the damn trusses on the damn roof. Hooray! The contractor realizes prior to inspection that the Alpine specs that Homewood uses for the truss manufacturing call for hardware. No such hardware was included. I called the guy would came over.. a salesman, actually. While he was nice in person, he also was kind of a jerk on the phone, but put me in touch with a manager to sort things out. Now, that guy was totally rude, and at one point claimed that they only sell trusses to contractors. Seriously? Well, they sold them to me, and they knew I wasn't one. Then, he said, well, just have the building inspector give him a call, and he'll tell him the hardware isn't needed. Hate to break it to you, but if the approved building plans call for something, they're specified in the documents you've provided, then they better be there, because no building inspector is going to take the word of some guy on the phone. When I insisted, he told me, in essence, to screw off. I got back in touch with the salesman, who decided to block my calls. What a lovely guy! I called Jim Stockman, who's the president. Even he was not very nice about it either, but he finally agreed to reimburse for the cost of the hardware.. a whopping $30. It took yet another week to actually get the check. read more

I ordered custom double doors for a closet I was building. The basic door was 8', but I needed the doors shortened by 3.25". I believe when I placed the order, I requested that the trimming occur at the top. When I received the doors, I discovered that the doors were trimmed at the bottom and the order itself didn't specify which end to trim. I do recall the person taking the order observing that the cut would never be perfectly straight so it was better to remove the excess from the bottom (I pretty much thought that it was strange that a door shop didn't have a saw that could cut a straight line). These are 6 panel doors with a natural space for handles at the appropriate height above the floor and were a few feet down the hall from another door of the same style. Removing 3.25" from the bottom positioned that space too low and looked silly next to the other door. A fact that any door shop person should anticipate as a visual issue. I went back to complain and was assured that they'd make it right, but he'd have to have his manager call me. A week later I had to call back to find out what was going on. Finally, the manager called. Absolutely no concern about customer satisfaction. He claimed "that they would NEVER remove the excess from the top," the reason being that the rail at the top was smaller than the bottom. Two problems with that: a) for my doors, the amount removed exceeded the size of either rail; b) I was not told they wouldn't take such an order, only discouraged by the supposed incompetence for their door shop to cut a straight line. Before moving to this area, I placed multiple orders for custom doors with another door shop and never had an issue. For the next project, I'll either find another shop or just order from Lowe's or Home Depot. read more

AWFUL customer service!! Similar experience as John Y.'s in regards to the truss order for our house build. They shorted us over a half dozen trusses and tried to blame our architect for why they were missing. The engineer who originally did the truss order wasn't there anymore and they sub out truss engineering to people in Texas now. It took 2 weeks and a lot of yelling on the phone by our contractor to finally get the missing trusses. No apology, no taking responsibility for shorting our order and of course no offer to refund us some of the money for the 2 weeks of lost work waiting on the missing trusses. We should have used Diamond Trusses like several contractors recommended to us. read more

HORRIBLE! Do not chop here. We took our front doors in for them to be measured and to buy new ones. They sold us doors that are too short for our frame. We had to take our old doors off the frame and into the store twice, first to be measured and then again to have the hinge slots cut into it. Neither time did anyone tell us that the doors were 2 inches shorter then our current doors. I called and talked to the manager and they informed me that the doors could not be returned as they already had the hinge slots cut and they would give my a 3 inch door shoe to fill in the gap between the door and the ground. Such a joke! So frustrating. No customer service. I even have the sales slip that states that their sales guy measured the doors. That same sales guy sold us doors too short for our frame. They should take responsibility for their mistake. Do NOT shop here. read more

Nothing short but the best materials for your home money can buy. I'm blown-away by the high quality, attention to detail, and the service excellence of this local hometown gem. Always want to patronize business that keep the local economy thriving. The moment I first stepped-in, I wanted to buy a few items to enhance my own home....like a big kid in a candy store. This time an old man wanting items for his castle. That became a reality a few weeks later when I went back to purchase a door. Man, was the selection endless. Never seen so many sizes, designs, and styles. Their salesman, Ron was kind and helpful. After haggling back and forth, I took the door home for another one of my projects. I think it's funny that the review before this is about how great Jeremy is, when I'm giving this place a 1 solely due to his inability to return calls. I ordered doors from a guy that retired before I picked them up. When I went to get them the order was all wrong. Jeremy worked out my order told me he would have to make a few calls and would call me back by the end of the day. A week passed with me leaving 3 voicemails and still never hearing back. Finally I called and asked to speak to someone above him. I was transferred to Ron, Ron said Jeremy was working on it and he would have him return my call by the end of the day. Now here it is a day from being two weeks and still no call back from any individual.. It's extremely frustrating when you have spent over a $1000 and can't even get someone on the phone.. Maybe this place is good for contractors, but home owners beware - we purchased nearly $5000 in custom doors and hardware. From the beginning the experience was doomed for failure, our account rep Sam was unknowledgeable and disorganized. But they had the doors and knobs my wife really wanted. After going into the store and after MULTIPLE emails they finally seemed to have the order right. We paid a $2,500 deposit and placed the order... the delivery date came and went with no communication. I called... MULTIPLE times before Sam finally called me back. He just said, there was a delay it would be a few more weeks! Having already seen the writing on the wall I reached out to the supervisor Ron H. He told me Sam had ordered the wrong doors but the new ones were coming in and they would expedite cutting them to match the old doors. I told him I never wanted to talk to Sam again and asked for someone else to take the account. Delivery day arrived I brought in my old doors. They cut them in a day. But 5/13 we're wrong. I realized this later when hanging them. I came to pick them up, Ron was in Florida and Sam completed the order. I asked if I was getting a discount for all the trouble. He said it was all taken care of - invoiced me for an additional dead bolt that I bought and matching hinges, handed me a $0 invoice and sent me to the warehouse. My new doors were there -UNFINISHED!!! Not like on the showroom floor - they failed to mention that! And my old doors - which were solid core and in pretty good shape and which I planned on reselling -were not there. As the office had closed at this point I asked the guy helping me load to tables to remind Sam I wanted my doors back. I never heard back from him, but having gotten a pretty sweet discount I let it go so I wouldn't have to deal with Sam any more. HERE IS WHERE IT GETS RIDICULOUS!!! A month later I get a call - "um.... Sam doesn't work here any more, and we were looking though his desk and it looks like you have a balance with us" ARE YOU KIDDING?!!! Your authorized agent -that you hired and that I said I didn't want to work with but you stuck me with him anyway - made a decision to reduce the price of my order and when he is gone you think you are going to extort money from me because of YOUR EMPLOYEE?!!! Zero stars! Homewood is now corporate owned and the service is horrific! I Ordered Milgard Tuscany windows (I wanted Jeld -Wen, due to a previous positive experience. They told me how poor Jeld -Wen windows are now and said that Milgard was local and had a quick turn around and great customer service) I was promised my Milgard windows by May 17, 2 were late, arrived May 31. They were the wrong grid pattern, sales rep supposedly ordered them again, except that she didn't! Then when she finally did re-order the correct ones she ordered the wrong ones again. This goes on and on. Then she had to re-order them again, except she accidentally only ordered 1. Now they say the other one won't be here until Sept 18. I paid for the upgraded screens and received cheap stretched out screens, they re-ordered them but delivered the same ones again, re-ordered and the 3rd bundle had a hole punched through the screens. Still no screens on the windows. We own a heavy equip construction co and these were for our personal home. As a contractor and homeowner I would never use them again. The sales rep has never once called me back, she keeps calling the siding contractor, even though I'm the one that purchased the windows. When I sent her an email saying how disappointed I was, her response was that I should have ordered Jeld Wen, that Milgard has really gone downhill! Wow! I guess Milgard and Homewood have gone downhill. I live in Loomis and wanted to use a local company, from now on it will be Meeks for me. I would give zero stars but Yelp requires at least 1 star to post. read more

Beware!!! If you are buying a building product from this business you should consider that it is without warranty. I purchased three sets of french doors from Homewood. The doors were defective and they ordered new doors, TWICE. The replacement doors were also defective in the same way. They were missing the block of wood where the door hardware attaches, so the doorknobs would not attach, they just hang and fall off. We requested a refund and they agreed, but ONLY AFTER WE RETURN THE DEFECTIVE DOOR. As these doors are already installed in our home, as exterior doors, this meams that we would have to front the money (nearly $2,000) for the new doors, or go without three exterior doors for 6 - 8 weeks while the replacement doors are ordered, while trusting them to give us the refund after we pay, forthe second time, for the doors. The doors were DEFECTIVE, and Homewood will not stand behind the defective product that they sold us. They expect us to bear the cost. BEWARE! read more

I needed a price for one wood plank/board with uncommon dimensions. I sent the email (per their web page) and got an email response back with wood boards that didn't come close on my request. Then a phone call from Homewood lumber and the sales rep asked how many boards I needed. I said just one (like my original email stated). He acted surprised and told me he would get back to me shortly. He never did. Also, no email follow up after I respond back to their email. I had originally given Homewood a 5 star rating, but something happened and their customer service went to hell. I had a great experience working with Dave Gutierrez when building a barn. He was on top of his game and made things so easy. We recently had some fencing material delivered. We called to sort out delivery and first thing they said is they were going to deliver on a Tuesday without asking us. We asked for Friday, which they agreed to, then they delivered it on Tuesday when we weren't home. The delivery guy dumped it in the middle of our driveway and one of the flats of lumber was half on some other lumber and half on the ground so we couldn't even get forks under it to move it without making some adjustments first. They also substituted 16' lumber when we ordered 8' lumber and didn't even bother to ask if that was ok. I called and talked to the manager (Chris). I told him I wasn't looking to get any restitution or anything fixed, but I wanted to make them aware of the issues we had and I didn't even get a simple apology. He seemed annoyed I had called. I told him how we we had loved working with them in the past and hoped this wouldn't happen again and all he could say is "ok". If I could leave a zero, I would. I walked in their showroom to purchase a brand new wood front entry door which would have easily been a few thousand dollars. I walked around for 15 minutes and stood at the counter waiting for help. There were plenty of people walking in and behind the counter and no one said a thing to me or even looked up. My 3 year old made enough noise to announce we were there, trust me. Every male contractor type that walked through was approached and greeted by name. I've purchased doors, windows, lumber, etc. from Homewood for years as a general contractor. Always had a good experience until I decided to buy some trusses. The truss department is the most disfunctional entity I've delt with in years. You never know who your dealing with due to the fact that the employees are are either terminated or quit. In the two months I worked on getting trusses for one job, I delt with four different people. The last one, James, is a real beauty. This guy tells you your trusses are made one day, then denies saying it the next. Good luck trying to call someone, they don't return phone calls. They have delayed my job by more than three weeks, and have made me look like a fool with my customer. The only thing they got right was refunding my money when I finally went somewhere else. It's been such a disaster that I'll probably go somewhere else from now on for all my needs. read more

Nearly a year ago we were recommended to Homewood by the designer of our yet-to-be built house. We wandered in just to get information and happened upon Cory whose specialty is cabinets but who offered to show us windows and doors as well. Cory worked up a plan and sent us separate bids for windows, doors and cabinets. This was our fifth stop for cabinets, our third for windows and doors. Cory's bid came in absolutely on par but his attention and professionalism was so far above everyone else we talked to that we had no doubt about giving him the entire contract.
