    King suite

I'm staying here for a work trip and extending for the weekend. Reasonable distance to Boulder downtown. The hotel is inside a shopping center that has rental car drop-off (Avis, very convenient). I stayed in a king suite, quite decent. Would recommend anyone who is visiting boulder.

What more can you say? Hilton, you really have this low standards? How is this acceptable? And 9Kb/s Premium $4.95 per day Internet? Fantastic deal! Although, 5 Stars to Michael from the front desk! He was super helpful with great customer service skills and friendly attitude!

Passenger side window vandalized in hotel parking lot.

While I appreciate the friendliness of the staff, I was dismayed that my new truck was vandalized on the hotel grounds. I parked it around 7:00pm and when I went back out at 10:00pm the passenger window was broken with a rock. The hotel backs up to the rear side of a shopping center and it is poorly lit and obviously not secure. Otherwise, the room was clean and adequate. In need of some minor repairs (toilet paper holder broken, window screens in disrepair). It has a complete kitchen which is great but there is no vent fan so food smells linger. The hotel is offering a much better breakfast than other area hotels and with a friendly manner.

We drove thirty minutes to boulder and she had the alpine massage which she raved about and loved but I had the mountain lavender massage and it was average at best. We had called the day prior to reserve the crystal mat for me and when I arrived they didn't have it. The lady doing my massage went out from the room, went to talk to some people and then came back and told me it was "in use". She then said she'd add on hot stones at no charge. They also cut my massage short as a result of it and yes we were about 4-5 minutes late but they were a bit disorganized. I paid for a 50 minute and really only got about a 30-35 minute and it wasn't all my fault. My therapist was alright but flustered and didn't ask me about pressure etc. It felt very rushed and I wasn't relaxed so for the price I paid I was honestly was pretty unhappy about it. Facilities were nice though- there is a sauna and steam room and you do get to use the hotel jacuzzi and pool. Again, to that add however the facilities were being taken up by a large bridal shower group and they were using all of the two personal change rooms and get ready space. It was very inconvenient to say the least and for someone paying, it felt like I was overlooked and maybe even a little in the way. I wouldn't be back based on the experience, for such a high end price tag I really felt service and experience would have been better. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend either.

The rooms are very ordinary, not as they appear when you are booking. It's also in a great location--very close to the University of Colorado Boulder and walkable to a lot of shops and restaurants. The lobby is definitely the highlight--absolutely beautiful with intricate details, a vintage glass ceiling, and a grand, elegant feel that gives you a sense of the building's history. Our room was clean, and the bathroom was also well-maintained. The surrounding area felt safe, which we appreciated. That said, the room itself was a bit dark, which seems pretty typical for many American hotels. The biggest downside for us was the required valet parking. It meant we never really had easy access to our car unless we wanted to go through the hassle of requesting it every time. Because of that, we ended up just using Uber the whole stay. Personally, I would much rather just pay to park and have direct access to my own vehicle. To be fair, the valet staff were always very friendly and welcoming whenever we came and went. We also ran into some minor inconveniences--there didn't seem to be enough robes, towels, or washcloths available during our stay. Overall, it was fine for a short visit. The lobby is stunning and the location is excellent, but the valet situation alone would make me choose somewhere else next time.

I also liked the lobby where we could all cowork a bit. The average: the cost was manageable for a work trip, but it's still pricey like all things in Boulder. It's the value option but would be a high end price point in a lot of places. Location? Pretty good. Not a walk to the farmers' market or Pearl Street, but certainly very close to many things (including breakfast at The Buff across the street) and a very short drive to many things you'd want to be near. The main issue this time was they only had one working elevator the entire weekend we were here. It's the only way to the parking garage and there were times I was waiting 10-15 minutes per session which was insane. Staff sort of tried to play it off (what are they supposed to do?) but it was a thing. The parking garage was also jam packed on this weekend, which wasn't the case last time. We struggled to find spots multiple times, and if I hadn't committed to already adding the $27 parking fee per day, I might've tried for some street parking to save time and money. It can be very tight turning into it as well. A couple other nice touches: I liked that they had decent coffee available in the lobby during the mornings, and a cold filtered water station. The bar wasn't open which would've been nice as we all unwound after an event, but it is what it is. This one hit most boxes the first time around, but didn't quite pan out perfectly on round two. I'll consider it if traveling to Boulder, but will probably look elsewhere first.

The young lady at the front desk had to deal with me after I had not slept for 36 hours, I have to give her a very high rating for fixing my reservation and allowing me to sleep in one of the cabin room for one night instead of on a hostel cot in a unit with five other people. I did go out and make a reservation at a different establishment for the other two nights that I was going to stay in Boulder. Second of all, I just needed to sleep... So this was a perfect place to lay my head until the morning. The three stars is definitely for the staff as they were very kind and very accommodating. I don't know how to rate the room itself. The railing that led to my room was rickety so I did not use it to climb the stairs that were also questionable. The room itself and the bed and linen were clean, but the floor of the tub was so brown that I could not take a shower in it. The TV did not work, and there was no air-conditioning. They did supply a box fan, which I set up in front of the TV (that was not functional) and slept with the fan blowing on me all night. Yes, I was in Colorado, but during the summer it's as warm as Georgia! For those of you who hate your phone, this is the perfect place for you as there is NO... And I mean zero... Cell service. Board games and books were available for use. Bicycles were available to rent for $5 an hour but it was raining so we didn't use them. There was no shortage of blankets or pillows. We burrowed under them and slept deeply. Complimentary breakfast was served until 9am and the offerings were delicious: coffee, juices (orange, apple, cranberry), milk (dairy, soy, almond). Bagels and English Muffins with butter, jelly, peanut butter and cream cheese. Four kinds of cereals (including Cinnamon Toast Crunch, my fave). Oatmeal. Fruit and hard boiled eggs. Postcards, hats, posters and mugs were available for purchase. I bought a postcard to send to my daughter in Nebraska. Jess offered to stamp and mail it for me! I was attending a conference in downtown Boulder, but looking for inexpensive, yet safe, accommodation. The reviews for Boulder University Inn were remarkably good for the price point, so I booked. When we arrived, I was a bit skeptical given the outside appearance. It looked like an old motel. Checking in at the front desk was easy and pleasant enough. It felt like a small, old school motel, which was different than the big hotel chains I'm used to, but it had its own kind of charm. The room was basic, but clean and comfortable. The real charm came from the service though. Samantha was at the front desk and when my sister and I asked about the safety of the area (in terms of walking to Downtown Boulder and back, possibly at night), she gave us great info and made us feel comfortable. Beyond giving us a quick lay of the land, we were extremely thirsty after a long walk and she was so kind as to offer us some extra complimentary waters. This $300 stay was in a room that can be seen at a $120 La Quinta Inn. I travel for a living and am in roughly 30+ hotels a year. I was thankful though that the bed and pillows were comfortable enough to sleep well in. The towels are rough and cheap or old maybe? The bathroom counter needed repair. Just overall not good. Upon first arrival to the inn we walked in to be greeted by one in tact and one half eaten small muffin on the food bar which I guess was the snack offering as it was on a little service dish not an individuals plate. Super uninviting. The parking was great though and appreciated. We did enjoy the Great Room a little while during our stay which was cozy. When we got back from our dinner on Friday evening just before 9pm we wanted a cup of hot tea for bed and there was no longer any hot water on the beverage bar. What a disappointment. I will also say the tea choices were worse than that at a Hampton Inn. Very basic and not even close to even what a mid level hotel offers. The breakfast was nice. Quiche looked amazing but by the time we came down to eat at 9:45 which I understand is 15 minutes before it ended - the warmer was off and the quiche was cold. We did grab a muffin which tasted like it was from Safeway or Costco but it helped as we were hungry. Instead we had to eat a light bite across the street at the cafe. Another disappointment. Overall what could and should have been a really special experience felt like a run down room with a mediocre breakfast experience. I came with my adult daughter to celebrate her 26th birthday and I have to be honest and say that I felt terrible that I chose this inn.
