Combination platter
Bridget S.

First the service was fantastic. They knew right away that we didn't know what we were doing. They let us try some of the fresh juices before ordering. We wound up with the combination platter and papusas. We enjoyed all of the food and the fruit juice was really unique. Yes the outside seems sketchy (per other reviews) but that seems to be the case with a lot of authentic places. The interior is clean and cute.

1st time having Honduran food! Got the carne asada plate! It comes with grilled beef, rice, beans, stick of cheese, fried plantains, and a spicy cabbage radish salad. The plantains, salad, and beef were outstanding. The beef was a little tough and salty, but it was so flavorful and nicely grilled. The fried plantains topped with a thousand island like sauce were my favorite! It's was crispy and tasted exactly like potato fries. The cabbage salad had a nice spicy kick from the pickled jalapeños and radishes and balanced the plate fairly well. Rice and beans were average. Overall, very good!

Delicious soups (marisco con coco & sopa de res) served with lime, corn tortillas and rice.

Good food. Ordered empanadas and 2 soups. Fast and friendly service! Lots on the menu to try.

Restaurant has been in the same location for the past 10 years cannot believe it took us all that time to come in and eat. We started off the meal with aguas frescas- Horchata and pineapple. Both absolutely delicious sweet and perfectly good mix of cinnamon to milk ratio in the Horchata. We ordered the carne asada which came on the bed of plantains with pink sauce a perfectly seasoned white rice with sautéed carrots bell pepper onion with beans. We also got the pupusa plate , very good.! We will return for the fried chicken. The owner was so friendly and accommodating, made it a great family experience.

The food was delicious. It looks and tastes similar to Mexican but with its own unique flavor and they call them different things. Service was good and very helpful. I got the combination plate and liked everything but could only eat half and took to go.

This bean dip is ah-mazeing!!

We were driving around Galveston this evening looking for a new unique place to try. All the places we found on Yelp are either too busy or closed. We finally decided to just go back to our usual go-to place (Mercadito Taqueria) since we ran out of options, it's getting late and we're hangry! Before we got to the Mexican place, I noticed the Honduras sign and told my husband to turn around so we can check it out. We saw a few people inside and then I checked on yelp. They had a decent review so we went for it! And I'm glad we did!! At first we were confused about what to do since the counter isn't very visible from when you enter the door. The customers in there are all Hispanics and of course we get the weird looks. We don't speak Spanish so we don't know who to ask what to do either. Then this nice lady came up to us and told us to pick a table. She gave us menus and patiently waited for us to place our order. I ordered the chicken breast dinner for me and my boys shared the fried chicken meal. My husband ordered #6 (forgot what it's called but it looks like an empanada). She served chips and a bean dip. That bean dip is amazing! My youngest kid doesn't eat bananas at all but he ate those banana chips like a champ! The fried chicken is very crunchy and very flavorful. My husband really enjoyed his meal too. We also tried a Honduras soda (grape flavor) and it was interestingly good as well. This is our first time to eat a Honduras meal and it's been a great and delicious first experience! It turns out also, that the lady who welcomed us in is the owner of the place. Such as very nice lady! If there's one thing I would suggest that needed to be changed in her restaurant, that would be a BIGGER sign! I didn't realize they've been around for 3 years! And we also ways drive by here and have eaten at the next door restaurants and have never seen this one! We sure will be back here again!

That being said, it had been some time since I've gotten some proper fish-n-chips. I had to remedy that. Especially since the BBQ fiasco the other day, I was going to go on a hunger strike, but once I made the sign, I got potato chip fingers on it and started to eat it. So, I decided to fight fire with fire, and figured I would eat myself happy again. Which I'm never mad about. Sometimes I make myself angry just so I can eat myself happy. And now, the rest of the story. I have learned that I enjoy Cod fish for my fish-n-chips. And I think also Haddock. I am not a fisher nor a fish. So it's hard for me to say. But I know Cod is one for sure. I also sometimes have baby mouth and am afraid of new things. I do know I love my fish battered and deep fried. I also know that Shark Shack had good reviews for their fish, so, that was all I needed to hear. Plus, it was a perfect little eatery with bar seating, table seating, and gifts! So you can bet your bottom dollar tomorrow I ordered the English fish-n-chips. Boy oh boy. Just like how Britain colonized all those countries back when it was the cool thing to do, these fish and chips colonized my taste buds. Respectfully. This plate came with FIVE logs of fish. FIVE! Maybe they were tubes of fish? Honestly, I don't care what shape they came in, they looked perfectly crunchy and perfectly brown and perfectly fish. The super cool extra bonus? These fish came with CRISPIES! I've only ever seen crisps with fish from Long John Silvers, whose fish is probably as far from Cod or Haddock as legally possible. I actually think one of my pieces of fish from there had shoelaces. Didn't matter. Still ate it. Respectfully. (If you aren't privileged enough to know what fish crispies are, there little batter pieces that fry or fall off the fish as they cook. Basically little crumblies. If you make a wish over a fork of them and get the forkful in your mouth without dropping any, your wish will come true). Homemade tartar sauce was good, but there was a certain flavor profile that I wasn't a fan of. It was still good to use on the fish rods, it just tasted a little too much out of the tartar sauce field for me. The meal was wrapped up nice and tight with lovely square-cut fries. Perfect doneness. Perfect Ketchup vessel. I could just stare at a pile of them all night. Mostly because I'm weird. Perfect Fish Capsules: 12/10 Ideal Fry Sticks: 12/10 Times I Would Re-visit: Infinite

Why 5 stars? Because this might be my new favorite restaurant in Galveston…read more --- --- --- We had been in Galveston for a couple of days, and while we had some solid meals, we were feeling kind of gross and overstuffed. Fish Company Taco proved to be like finding water in the desert. A lot of Galveston eateries are very similar, in that there's an ample amount of fried seafood on the menu, which is not exactly what you're looking for when you're in the bloated, but wanting to eat *something* state that we were in. My thought was: fish tacos are relatively light and we can walk there from our hotel - how do you beat that? What I didn't realize is that this place probably belongs more in the Heights than Galveston. And I mean that in a good way. The menu is very hipster-coded. And the food matches with hipster quality. It's hard to say what my favorite item even was. The one thing I wasn't a huge fan of was the fish dip - it was just okay. Everything else ranged from good to great. We tried... The burger: FYI, it's more like a double stacked slider than a burger, but delicious. 3 Tacos: Dirty South, Empire and Korean Flavors. I really liked the empire and the korean flavors, but thought the dirty south had a little too much going on with the pimento cheese and chips. Sticky Shrimp: I don't even know how to describe this, but it was delicious. I thought it as more like bang bang shrimp, but it was more fried that I expected. But not hardcore fried - they almost had the airy texture of fried pork skins, but were much tastier. Chili marinated Cucumbers and corn ribs: Simple, refreshing and addicting. But I liked the cucumbers a bit more. They also had some fresh juices and we enjoyed both the mango and the coconut lime concoctions. An easy 5-stars for me and a place I will definitely recommend to anyone visiting Galveston.

The Vietnamese taco stood out the most for me, while the Baja and Korean flavors were just okay, not really my favorites. Overall, it's a chill spot with a relaxed vibe and not too crowded. I'd recommend coming during happy hour to get the best experience.

After you finally order you get to try and find one of their dirty tables to sit at then wait way too long for terrible food. The food could not be more terrible, this is what they call biscuits and gravy and it tasted as bad as it looks, I think the best way to describe the color of the gravy is orange, which is weird. I had one bite of the biscuit and gravy and it was so bad that the stray cat that jumped on our table did not even want it, but it could have also been because of all the flies because the little fly fan at our table did not work but it also might have been from the constant smell from the sewer drain located right in the seating area. My wife had a chicken bagel egg sandwich- not good....all our food went in the trash. This is not a restaurant it is a disaster, do not believe the positive reviews.

It works well and the servers are attentive and numerous. We ordered the Diablo Grilled Shrimp, Onion Rings and a Rum Punch. My Diablo Grilled Shrimp were spicy but not overly hot. They were cooked perfectly with that crisp snap. Grilled vegetables were well seasoned and crisp, not grilled to death. The green chili rice burst with flavor and clumped together the way I love, not in tiny individual pieces of rice. The Onion Rings had great flavor and expertly fried The Rum Punch a let down. It was a good drink it just wasn't cold, cold even with the ice. Shake it then pour it over new ice. But it was good for $11. I really like The Spot! It's fun and the food is great.
