Went here for quotes on new exhaust and alternator replacement. They quoted me almost 400 dollars more for the repairs than the two other shops I went to. I went to Austin's muffler shop and got a quote on my exhaust of 256 dollars.. Honest-1 quote. 510 dollars. They were nice enough to find out that my alternator was shot while I was there. They did charge me 30 bucks for that. The quote I was given to replace it was 437 dollars. I was able to make one phone call to another shop while I was at Honest-1 to a shop I used to go to in North St Paul called Jake's auto. He quoted me 286 bucks over the phone and that's what he charged me when I them replace it. Bottom line. Do your research when your in need of repairs. All shops charge different prices. I'm sure Honest-1 is a good shop but I just couldn't afford to have them do the work. read more

Never bring your vehicle here!! Jeremy is the worst and downright rude, and the shop name is the complete opposite of what I experienced. They were so dishonest and now my son is out money because of their dishonestly! We told them the issue with his vehicle and payed to have it towed their to find out they wouldn't work on it even after they were told everything that was wrong with it before hand. They wouldn't even apologize for their mistake. So disappointed in this business. As far as the manager Jeremy, I find it extremely unprofessional to advise customers to "come and see me in person" insinuating a threat. Such a terrible experience. read more

My wifes car was towed here and this is the long story made short. Diagnosed as a bad turbo, cam sensor seals and valve cover gasket. $3100 and the vehicle was FINISHED. Later that day we get another $700 bill for head gasket. It was never diagnosed properly in the first place so we were never given the choice to not repair it. They conned us into it. read more

If you want a good honest mechanic then this is the place to be, I have been using this establishment for the last 3 years and would not trust anyone else to look at my vehicles. I feel like I am completely listened too and never ripped off on prices they are always fair!! If your vehicle has to been in the shop for more than 24 hours (they are usually very quick at fixing and getting needed parts unless something extreme pops up during inspection/service) then they do have a couple loaner cars available. They have ASE certified mechanics who really know there stuff, the warrantee you get on parts and labor can't be beat with free added roadside assistance!!! The waiting area (if you want to wait) is huge clean and comfortable with big cushy leather chairs and a big screen TV - they offer you treats/chocolates and water/coffee whilst you wait. If you have kiddies with you then there is a very nice play area with toys, books, crayons Etc.. and a TV in the corner to keep them occupied for a few mins. I also believe they have free wifi so you can catch up on emails and work or whatever in comfort, if your wait is going to be a lengthily one then right across the parking lot you have a choice of Taco Bell/Burger King or take a stroll to the end of the block and there is a holiday station for you to grab lunch or a snack or whatever. Avoid these jokers at all costs. Took my vehicle in for an oil change. Once the oil change was due again I took it to my original mechanic and he asked me who did your last oil change. I said honest one in Blaine. He said the oil filter and drain plug were both loose and could be turned by hand. I said, I did see an oil leak on my garage floor. All in all, stay away from these clowns. If they can't handle a simple oil change, I wonder how they'd handle other jobs. read more

Went in to get rear rotors and brakes changed.After a few weeks of driving noticed a grinding noise on the passinger side and took it into another shop.We told them that the rotors and brakes were just replaced and after they had a look they told us that the brakes on one side were changed but not the other.Both sides had different brand brakes and yet when we brought it back to Honest-1 they insisted that they switched both out and even implied we were lying. Seemed like they were trying to cover their tracks after we told them we brought it to another shop.They did replace the brake and rotor,however they were insisting it was another problem and started pushing us to pay for another fix.....Needless to say,we will not be going back to "Honest"-1. read more

When I brought my truck in I specifically said that my truck was leaking gear oil in the area of the driver's side wheel well by the differential vent hose, and that I didn't know why. I also said that prior to the leaking, I recently changed the gear oil in the front differential. The mechanic working on my truck, in my opinion, misdiagnosed where the leak was coming from, and he replaced the oil cooling lines that run into the radiator. He said that they were leaking, which I doubted because the motor oil level never dropped. Also the smell between gear/differential oil is very distinct compared to motor oil. $400 later, and immediately after my drive home the leak was still there. After writing a email to your service department about my un satisfaction, I decided to try and tackle the problem myself because the mechanic also left the cap off my engine when he overfilled the truck with oil. And later, when I was removing my truck tire I noticed that the center cap was chipped from what I suspect was the mechanic also. After contacting a local Chevrolet dealership, I learned what the problem most likely was and I fixed the problem myself. It was a faulty "connector" that Chevy had a great deal of problems with about ten years ago. There is a valve in the connector that becomes stuck upside down, and takes in gear oil. When enough pressure builds up, mostly during highway speeds, it blows out the gear oil through the vent hose. The "new and improved" version is white, and the faulty version is black. Please pass this info on to the mechanic that worked on my truck so the next guy gets spared $400. read more

Staff was very friendly, knowledgeable & professional. I had a a nail in my tire leaking air, I called mid afternoon on a Friday excepting a long wait or to not have any appointments open. Since I was in the area close by, they told me to come on by and they would get me in no problem. I arrived within 30 minutes, was greeted by the gentlemen I spoke with on the phone and my car was pulled in to the shop a short time later as promised. "Never go to a place that has 'Honest' in their name." Why would they need that? They told me I needed to replace the whole brake system for $2500-$300. Replace Master cylinder, fluid, calipers, and brake lines. Reason: they found what they claimed was oil in line saying, "this will rot all the lines." No evidence that this had happened. All they offered was fear: "If you don't do this, your brakes could go out completely." When I asked how much it would cost to only do the master cylinder and replace the fluid, they didn't give me a price. They said, "We'll have to talk with the manager to see if we can do that." As if they have to get permission to only do the work I want them to do. They mentioned "liability" of course to try and scare me. I felt like I had to get permission from them to not do all the work they wanted to do. I took it somewhere else and got the master cylinder and brake fluid replaced for about $600. read more

I was in constant worry-- every time I put my keys in my ignition, I wasn't sure if my Honda would start up or not. I'm driving a salvaged car in which I have no prior history. (Bad deal buying privately owned). It has been a very interesting year with my car, to say the least. Anyway, I started having problems a couple of months after moving to MN, and when I called Honest-1, these gentlemen (whose names I do believe are Scott, Brad, and Josh) were quick to take my car in. Every single time I have come in with a new issue (which has been no less than five times), the guys have gone above and beyond to take care of me. They've always been very fast yet thorough with their research; when my genuinely car needed repairing, I never felt like they were leaving me in the dark about my options. I have never had a recurring issue once they've patched me up. And plus, free loaner car while yours is in the shop! I wish I could bring them with me when I move again, because you just don't see that genuine kindness or know-how in the automotive business very often. They're always going to be a fond memory of mine, and as long as they're still around, I will always recommend Honest-1 here in Blaine! read more

was completely screwed by the Blaine store. I had over $1,000 worth of  brake work done. Long story short. They placed a bad  part, refused to fix it, blamed me for ruining it,  and caused damage to our vehicle. We urgently went to a tires plus near our house as our car was making a terrible grinding sound. They quickly identified that the caliber on the back rear break was bad and was destroying our new pad and rotor on one side. It was so bad that the break line was at risk of blowing. They instructed us to call the store we got the breaks placed immediately as all breaks were replaced in 2019.  We were ASSURED they would have no problem fixing their mistake as it was without a doubt a BAD part that was placed. We were also instructed not to drive the vehicle unless going straight to the store to get the brakes fixed due to the risk of break line blowing.  I called Honest 1 ftom Tires plus. I explained the issue in front of the tires plus mechanic. Honest one said they would "fix it, that it sounds like a bad part, and that they had a loaner car for me."  I arrived to the store to be told that they would not replace the bad part due to it being out of warranty. Lucky for them i was a little over a month. In the meantime the had been ruining my car. They didn't care, the operations manger, Brad, refused to fix the problem, proceeded to tell me it was my fault that the parts went bad. At the same time a pizza delivery worker from Marcos came next store for an oil change. Honest one  told him the price would be $65 for the oli change. The operations Manger then proceeded to tell the Marcos employee his oil change is free in exchange for pizza. They exchanged the order of toppings and shook hands. This interaction made me  visibly upset. I stated that I cannot believe that someone would get work done there and then have this type of costumer service.  He blamed me for taking in front of other costumers when their was one lady in the store. I could not believe the disrespect, dishonesty, the blaming, and the treatment. He even proceeded to say, "Tires plus warranty is worse then ours they cover for 2 years," as he laughed. I was just at Tires plus who confirmed that their warranty is a lifetine on calipers. I called 4 others stores who also confirmed that this was indeed a bad caliper and that there is no company that would deny it wasn't and would gladly fix. This company and their employees don't car about your car, stand by their work, and are a disrectful humans. It is so sad how in our world, companies like these take advantage of people. I Highly recommend Honest 1 for an oil change or other service. They were extremely pleasant on the phone and from beginning to end, they were professional and very nice. I took my 2006 Jaguar X-type to Honest-1 to have an alignment done, and to have them diagnose a rotational noise I was hearing (caused by something spinning). The alignment was needed as I had just replaced a tie rod end (this effects toe-in). When I went to pickup the car the steering wheel was not in the correct location (on slanted for horizontal) and they wanted me to pay for a diagnosis they obtained with a simple OBD scanner -- this was all useless and old information of faults stored in the ECM. Everything in the fault history recorded in the ECM had already been corrected. I left the car and asked the service writer to have the mechanic put the steering wheel into the correct horizontal position. This is done by adjustment of the tie rod ends. When I went to pick up the car, the steering wheel was still crooked. The service writer gave me a cock and bull story that the front end springs and struts were worn out and the mechanic could not adjust the steering wheel. The steering wheel had been in the correct position when the car was brought to Honest-1. The reason the steering wheel position wasn't corrected wasn't due to springs or struts (controls camber and caster) , but was due to the mechanic not wanting to put anymore time into the alignment because he would not make rate (how mechanics are paid). Bottom line, this place should have DIS in front of their name. By the way, I am a retired certified ASE mechanic, as well as A&P certified mechanic (aircraft). In addition, I hold a BS in Mechanical Engineering from the U of MN. I know what I am talking about. My advice stay away from Honest-1. I plan to take them to court. While their mechanics may be ASE certified, they are on the lazy side, and don't want to correct their mistakes. I'm taking the car to Hoovers to get the issues corrected and to get honest service. read more

This place doesn't deserve a star in the first place. I'm a college student and single mother and my truck has had issues starting. Usually I'm pretty good at fixing my truck but I thought bringing it to Honest-1 Auto Care would help and I was completely wrong. I was expecting to pay $64 for a diagnostic test that they told me on the Friday before Labor Day. When I got in today they told me that the price was going to be $364. My heart dropped to the floor. When I corrected them about the price, the man at the front desk gave me an attitude for correcting him about the price. If I am told by one man that my price was going to be $64, and now it's $364 I feel cheated so I get upset. He finished with that they had to check the spark plugs and broke my spark plugs in the process. Now because they failed to give me the service I was intending to pay, they are forcing me to pay another $300. Why do I have to spend money on something that I was not only looking to fix, but more importantly something they broke on their property with their employees working on it? I want them to pay for what they broke. Not me. I intend to spread my experience with (Dis)honest-1 auto "care." read more

I was quoted a price of 100 dollars to put in a strut on my car when we went to drop it off the price was jacked up to 245 dollars. They said it was because I had my own part but they knew that when they quoted me 100 dollars. They never even offered to honor the original quote said the guy that gave me the price was a hired back employee that shouldn't be quoting, like that's the customers problem. Pulled the car out and took it to a repair shop that dose not charge 245 dollars an hour or change their mind after you come in. read more

I brought my car in to have some work done and to get an oil change. The amount of money they wanted to fix a few things was OUTRAGEOUS, so I just had them do the oil change. I brought it to another shop and they fixed everything else for about $700 less. They also checked my oil again and it turns out that "Honest" One never even changed my oil!!! What a scam. Of course, they thought they could take advantage of me because I am a young female. I will never, ever go back there and do not recommend them at all. You will get overcharged to end up not even getting what you paid for. They should probably change their name. read more

TThis one can be named as DISHONEST-1 car repair, they will try to rip you off with made up repair, they don't even show you which parts they repaired. They don't know what they are doing and call you to repair one problem after another until they can fix your car then you will be ripped off by unneeded repairs. Avoid this rip off place read more

Honest-1? If you go to their website, all reviews are 5 stars so they obviously weed out any negative ones (this would be the only business in the world with all perfect reviews) but they charge $85 for a synthetic oil change. We even bought one of their oil change cards and it was still only $25 off. I asked how much it would be when I made the appointment after I mentioned the card, I was told "we'll talk about it when you get here." Went down the road and got a synthetic oil change for $50...still cheaper than with the Honest-1 card! Not to mention on different vehicle that is only worth about $4,000, they wanted to do $2,000 in repairs lol read more

This has been my regular auto shop since I came here first about 2 years ago. I've always had a great experience. They dealt with me very kindly and honestly and not pushy, telling me what can wait and what needed to be done right away. Their prices are very fair (cheaper than the nearby NTB, which I also called to get a quote). Yes, it is probably more expensive than the one-man auto shop, but they provide higher-end parts with a 3-year warranty and have a very nice and comfortable lobby and bathrooms. I've used their loaner car for free once, and I've also gotten a free ride home from them once. I am just impressed with their care for their customers. read more
