Ben and his team are amazing. I have had him out three times for three different services for my upstairs tenant. 1. They installed two mini splits units in my upstairs tenant. She couldn't be happier. 2. The came back removed the double wall heater, shut the gas off, drywalled and painted the two rather large holes in the wall. 3. Emergency call, the pilot light wouldn't light on the water heater after numerous times. This was a Saturday and my tenant needed hot water. Called Ben, he had his crew there in a few hours. The older water heater needed to be replaced. again, great job. The tenant had to leave and they did the job, she came home and couldn't tell they had been there. Until she opened the cabinet and saw the new water heater. She said that the water heater works great and no more issues. One thing I learned from Ben, he recommended that the water heater be emptied at least once a year. Apparently we have very hard water and he said that it was as if there were rocks on the bottom. The name says it all. Ben and his crew were amazing during a very stressful time! Right in the middle of the Coronavirus pandemic, our septic leach field failed. If you don't know about septic systems, let me tell you that this is the absolute worst thing that can happen! In our case, the leach field was beneath our beautiful backyard, which we had recently completely landscaped ourselves during the quarantine. We were so proud of our work! Ben was super personable, knowledgeable and he worked with our budget. His crew dug trenches by HAND 6 feet deep in the July heat with no shade! These guys are amazing!!! But it gets better: No plants, not ONE FLOWER, we're damaged in the process. I am serious! The icing on the cake was the pvc pipe 'chute' they built to transport gravel down a staircase on the side of the house. Genius. Worst plumbing service ever. They came for minor issues and ended up finding more and more. I had to leave and my dad ending up paying him thousands and thousands. We could have gotten the whole house replumbed for what we paid. When we talked with Ben to confront him he just never cam back to our house after that. Ben has now been my plumber for several years. Just last week, we had a ridiculous situation where one of the young adults in my house managed to get a JUUL pod lodged in our garbage disposal. Not only did Ben show up within a couple of hours, he charged me the most minimal amount to take care of the problem and he could easily have used this opportunity to sell us a new disposal, but he DIDN'T and in fact said he thought it was unnecessary at this time. Please note that somebody in the area has apparently been using the company's name and, as a result, their Yelp reviews are being unfairly clouded. I respectfully request that you read my previous reviews! Ben and I got off to a pretty rocky start and he has nevertheless stood by our family ever since the first time we needed a plumber in an emergency situation back when I was a new homeowner (five years ago now). He ALWAYS gets back to me right away and usually makes time for me within the same day to at least come diagnose the issue. I had Honest Plumbing take care of some exploded pipe damage that was covered by my insurance. They insisted on doing all the work, including replacing the whole kitchen, floors and loads of other things. Besides the experience working with them as harrowing (missed appointments, weird estimates, miscommunication with the insurance company, screaming fights with the wife). The plumbing work I assume was done fairly correctly, however, any other work that needed contractor was done in a shabby and unprofessional way: they never came to fix the crappy work they've done, as they promised me MANY times, and now I'm stuck with a kitchen backsplash that makes me seasick (see pic) and a bunch of other things that there better before they put their hands on it. Ben from Honest plumbing was recommended by my contractor and I have been working with his company ever since. Ben and his team have done several major jobs for me at several properties in Hermosa Beach and the Hollywood Hills near West Hollywood over the past several months. Ben has been very fair. He and his team have worked extra hours and on weekends to get the jobs done. I have referred him to neighbors as well who have had the same experience. The jobs have ranged from large to small including replacement of old gas pipes, installation of gas lines to a grill and fire pit, repair of an old sump pump system, and replacement of a shower faucet. These are jobs that I would only use someone I can trust since faulty gas lines can lead to dangerous explosions. Fortunately, I have full trust and faith in Ben and his team since I know their quality and standard is very high. I've never used YELP before but I feel an obligation to let people know about a wonderful "family owned " plumbing company, HONEST PLUMBING. First of all, they certainly live up to their name. In the 4 years I've used their services, I've never once been surprised with additional charges or hidden fees. In fact, they've often recommended a less expensive way or tool to complete the job. A year ago, at 2:00 am, I discovered major flooding in my house. There was extensive water damage on the ceiling, walls, and carpeting in two rooms. I called HONEST PLUMBING and the owner arrived a half hour later. He assessed the damage, made a few phone calls and four of his workers arrived at 8:00 AM, that same day, to rip out any sections that could be a health hazard. They showed up consistently after that until the job was completed. Because of health issues I was experiencing at the time, the wife volunteered to advocate for me with the insurance co. She handled every insurance request including phone calls, photos, correspondence and an update of progress being made. She made sure any replaced items would be of the same quality as the item being replaced. There is no way that I would have been able to understand or accomplish what she was able to do but because of her knowledge and caring. and the professionalism, diligence and commitment of the crew, my home has been restored beautifully, and in a timely manner. Stay away from these guys!! I'd give minus stars if I could. Ben Garcia is the most dishonest, incompetent contractor I have ever seen. I was away at the time and he totally took advantage of my tenant who didn't know anything about plumbing but there was a backup and flooding so it was urgent. He failed to find the reason for this (a simple case of roots in a pipe outside,) and proceeded to rip open my whole kitchen and replace pipes, and then rip open the street and redo the mains! I had an inspector come see the work when I came back from abroad and he said that not only was it unnecessary but the pipes in the kitchen were not done up to code so it had to be redone. I lost thousands of $. I tried to sue but unfortunately I had signed contracts, so there was nothing I could do. Since so many of his customers are unhappy, would a class action suit be worth it? In my case, there's a statute of limitation as this was a while ago, but someone has to stop this man before somebody gets hurt because of his deficient work. read more

His company charged $5k for relining 7ft of 3inch sewer pipe and turned around to replace it at an additional cost between $12k-14k. Ben literally saved our lives. We were on a super old and poorly installed septic system and got quoted at over $100k to switch to sewer. Why? Because the city wanted us to extend the mainline in case our neighbors ever wanted to switch. Thanks, city. Obviously, we couldn't afford anything NEAR that amount. About to give up and live our lives with this awful septic system, Ben swooped in and heard us out. He asked us to give him a day to talk to the city, and we did. A day later, he came back with the green light from the city to just connect to the sewer system that was about 13 feet away from our property. No other company was able to get the city to OK this. We signed a contract for a FRACTION of what every other company quoted us at, and he got the job done fast. He also filled our septic system with slurry and closed it off permanently. Throughout the whole process, Ben was communicative and friendly and professional. My fiancé and I cannot recommend Honest highly enough. Thank you, Ben. Called them they state they give free estimates which is highly not the truth I was charged 60.00 and when I called to confront them I was called by one of the plumbers really rude telling me he has a master degree umm yea sure you do.then he proceeded to tell me the plumber who was at my residence didn't speak English I said it's funny cause he,spoke perfect English. Excellent service started with the pleasantness of the woman who answered the phone and took the message when we called the Honest Plumbing phone number. Joel and I were impressed by how quickly Ryan got back to us, his professionalism and knowledge, the quality of the work done by Ryan, Stanley, Augustine and his other worker, the thorough clean up and the fair price. We needed a leak repaired in old plumbing and it was a tricky job since we also needed the bathroom faucet handles replaced in the tub with ADA faucet handles. The new faucet multi assembly, which was the only one that worked for us, did not fit into the existing plumbing. Ryan found a way to re-pipe by accessing the pipes from the linen closet in back of the bathroom, and thus was able to install the new assembly without any damage to the existing tile over the bathtub. He also created a great access from the linen closet, with a handy door in the event that work needs to be done on that plumbing in the future. Thank you, Ryan, and team for your great work! .......HOMEOWNERS BEWARE ...... READ ALL THE REVIEWS BEFORE CONTACTING. We have been through hell and back with these jokers. We had a leak under the house. These jokers came out and insisted on doing the job when I wanted to call SERVPRO instead. I went with them only because they were the only ones available to come right away. Yes, they come in at a very low and attractive price to get you to sign and do the work. But that's where Ben and his wife (especially his wife) play their he said she said game with you. Ben is the one on site and comes across as very nice and easy going, but that is just an act to get you to feel as though he is willing to do anything to take care of you. I attempted almost 2 dozen times to clarify and resolve this with his wife. She will ignore your calls and if you do mange to catch her, she'll tell you she's busy and will get back to you when she has a chance. She never will. A year later, we put our house up for sale and found out she had put a lien on the house, which I was ok with. The problem was that it was for a totally different amount than what Ben her husband had quoted me on paper. That's where it got even uglier. I wanted it all behind me and was willing to pay the alternate amount but that wasn't good enough for Ben and his wife. They wanted me to take down my original bad review. Which I did or they wouldn't remove the lien. That wasn't good enough either. Now they wanted me to write a good review. These F****n people were crazy. I am writing this review to make everyone aware of who these people really are and to not ever trust any company with the word "Honest" in it. It is my right to inform other consumers of my horrible experience with these jokers. Unbelievably incredible service. I had an emergency with the main sewer line. I called so many people and no one could come out or even answered there phone. I'm was in a real stress situation. So I got to honest plumbing and gave them a call and they answered right away. I told them my situation and they calmed me down and they said they will have someone out right away. After hanging up with them, a they had a technician at my door with in 45min. I was so happy to see them. They came fully prepared and ready to work. They got my job done and did a great job. The crew did an excellent job, worked professionally, and clean-up after their mess. They worked for 9 hours without a lunch break, and they were careful and were expertly experienced. Ben showed up, surveyed the situation and ultimately we came to a decision on what was needed. Ben and his crew came back the next day and repiped the backyard. He ran into a few problems due to prior non standard installation but was able to handle it. After all was done, they cleaned up very nicely. They did a lot of work at a reasonable price. Our mainline was blocked and backing up into our house. Tom showed up at 11am - Quote was $1100 right off the bat Tried snaking from the vent in the roof - $350. Said he'd apply to the total cost. Knocked several shingles loose, wasn't going to fix until we pointed it out. (This was yesterday, it still isn't fixed, he said he'd come back tomorrow). He removed the toilet to try to snake from there. No luck. Left the toilet off. Another worker came and dug in the front yard to reach the pipe and add a relief pipe so that in the meantime the water in the house could drain. Once that was in place the worker left. Tom had already left. No status was communicated to us, ie if we could flush a toilet, esp considering one was still completely removed or when they'd be back to finish. Placed 2 calls asking when they would come back to finish the job. Didn't hear from Tom until 7:30pm. He had left for another emergency and tried to make me feel bad for expecting him to come back to finish the job. He told me that since he couldn't snake that he'd have to hydro-jet and that he would "only charge us $500". I asked him to put the toilet back and he said he'd do it the next day so he could hydro-jet from there. He could have hydro-jetted from the relief pipe, which in fact he did. Then came the hard sell to completely replace the pipe that meets the city line. $10k job. Not interested. Then owner showed up to back up the hard sell. We were not happy with the work so far so he agreed the hydro-jet wouldn't be extra and he put the toilet back himself. Then Tom mopped up the floor with my nice hand towel that was hanging up. Seriously? In all, it took 3 days for them to finish a 4 hour job. Turns out these guys work on commission hence the add-ons in price and the hard sell to do an expensive job. read more

STAY AWAY from this business. My 74 year old mother called in a panic because her water heater was leaking. She had already called these guys and luckily I got there in time. The guy's looking at the 40 gallon gas water heater in the garage and shaking his head. "Where do you want me to start?" he says. I've remodeled homes, and was confused. Sure, there was a lot of water, but it's just the heater leaking, right? "Right, he says and luckily, he happens to have a 40 gallon heater in his truck for $1,400. What about labor? "No, just the tank" I ask him to leave ( he goes to his truck) and I'm already calling to make other arrangements when he comes back "so, I talked to my boss and he's willing to...". I interrupted him and simply told him since I actually knew what a hot water heater costs and he was willing to cheat a 74 year old living on social security I had no desire to do business with them. Not sure how people like this sleep at night. Btw, had the heater delivered and installed the next day for a total of $700 (everything included). read more
