The menu is unique with dishes like fig & bacon omelette and chorizo chilaquiles skillet, both of which are delicious. i would give this place five stars if it were not for the slowness of their service. It is friendly and courteous, but for the amount of customers they have and the number of wait staff I observe, others have commented to me the lag in their service. But go for the food! I often visit the Honey berry in South Elgin. Since we had a game in Schaumburg we decided to come to the one in South Barrington. Very disappointing experience. They told us to wait would be 15 minutes. But the hostess decided that because we were a party of three she would let the big parties go ahead of us and so we ended up waiting 35 minutes. Our waitress got our order incorrect. It was just a very disappointing experience especially when the waitresses and the hostess has had a lot of time to talk and giggle and we sat and waited another 15 minutes for our order to be taken once finally seated. read more

I have given Honey Berry the benefit of the doubt since they first opened. I have eaten there numerous times. With each visit the service has gotten increasingly worse. This goes beyond being understaffed. The last time I was there, 2 of the very limited wait staff were laughing and holding lengthy conversations with what appeared to be friends of theirs eating at the restaurant. Seating is almost always an issue, even when there are clearly tables available. My last visit included a dirty table and a hostess manhandled silverware I was expected to eat off of. We went on a Sunday, before even walking inside we knew there will be a wait and we were okay with it. The wait time was 45 min. We were seated after waiting for 42 minutes not bad. BUT we were waiting at our table for 20 minutes, no waitress ever came to us. I had to get up and ask for a menu, no server ever came to even ask for our drink order. No one came to even tell us "I'll be with you shortly". My partner finally got up asked if we can speak to a manger or can we at least have a cup of water. The 3 young ladies up front just stared at my partner. A host with short hair came with 2 cups of water and with her attitude and said "my manager will be here". Food was great! We all had omelettes and they were fluffy and delicious. Would give 5 stars on the food alone , however the service is why I've given 3 stars as a whole. We will be back for sure , but our waitress could've definitely benefited from more training. She never asked how our food was, didn't refill our coffees, had zero personality, and dropped the check off when we were half way done eating. So the food is pretty good, we like their Eggs Benedict and savory options better than their sweet breakfast food options. I also like how they have outdoor seating if you choose to eat there. But honestly I'm baffled at how they don't take orders over the phone? Especially during COVID, giving customers options to order remotely is so important for safety reasons if you're going to be open. I was at Target with my child and I didn't have the ability or time to order online, so I called to place an order over the phone and they said don't take phone orders. I am just confused, I guess, considering every other restaurant I've ever called takes orders over the phone. You just need one person to cover phones or even the manager could. Used the wait list app on a Saturday. We were second in line when we arrived. The hostess told us it would be an additional 10 minutes wait. It was 30 additional minutes before we were seated. We sat waiting for our table to be ready as the hostess was wrapping silverware. She was touching the tines of the fork with bare hands. Definitely a turn off during COVID times. There were many tables that were empty and many people waiting to be seated. Poor hostess operation of seating. Making people wait and plenty of empty tables. The service was slow and the waiter brought a watered down pop to the table. When I asked for a refill he said they ran out of Coke Zero.
