Had to have an Easter breakfast! Hubby may be outta town, but this boy loves at least one breakfast at a restaurant on a weekend! So I headed to the Egg Basket because- well - why not? Ok, I was the first customer for the day (Yes, I wake up early!). I was seated, ordered a decaf coffee (sorry; had to go unleaded for health reasons, darn it). I reviewed the menu and - well - tried to find a comfy seating position on the upholstered booth table I was seated at. I'm sorry, but the springs on this thing had sprung, and there wasn't a comfy spot to be found. Ok. So there was that..... I liked the style of the place- but what in the world was with the 5,000 kelvin can lights in the ceiling? Folks, I want warm and comfy lighting - no more than 3500 Kelvin is what you had elsewhere in the restaurant. The 5,000 kelvin was just way, way too harsh. For shame. Pull out the "daylight" and put in a soft/warm kelvin bulb please! Hurts my eyes. Ok- the food. I ordered a 2-egg breakfast; subbed the hashies for rye toast, chose the sausage option, and upped the order to include two crepes with lingonberry sauce (always a sucker for lingonberry sauce, you know?). I was told the food would take a bit longer due to the crepes - didn't matter to me, really; couldn't be a huge delays could it? Naw, it wasn't. The food came out- ok, then! Let's check it out - the scrambled eggs and sausage were perfectly acceptable. The toast was not buttered (NO!) but was right outta the toaster- and man, that counted! As I started munchin' away, I noted the crepes seemed- well- a bit well done? Well, yeah. Like, on one crepe? The end of the crepe was hard and almost- but not quite- burnt. Yikes. I still ate it. It was relatively good, sure. But who over-cooks crepes? Can't say it was fantastic. Now, I don't have anything bad to say about the server- she was super nice and awesome! I've been a customer of Egg Basket restaurant for years, both dining in and ordering takeout for breakfast and the food is normally very good. As recently as January 12th around 8:00 a.m., I placed this same order to go, the restaurant was busy and it was cooked perfectly, which is why today's experience was so disappointing. Today, January 20th with the temperature at 17 degrees, I placed a pickup order at 11:43 a.m. (Order #07). The restaurant was not busy, only two tables were occupied so I fully expected my order to be prepared correctly. I ordered crepes with fresh strawberries, eggs, sausage, and a second order with bacon. When I opened the containers, the food was clearly overcooked. One crepe was so hard I couldn't cut it, and the second crepe was three-quarters burned. The eggs were also overcooked. Unfortunately, I didn't have time and it was too cold outside to return to the restaurant. Because this is a place I frequent, I attempted to call three times before writing this review, letting the phone ring each time but no one answered. With recent price increases and a total of $44.90 before tax, I expect much better quality and consistency. This experience was extremely disappointing. To management: please retrain your cooks and reinforce quality control. Burned, overcooked food should never be sent out especially at these prices. If this continues, I will not be returning. I truly hope this feedback is taken seriously, as I've enjoyed this neighborhood restaurant for many years and would like to continue supporting it. read more

Suggested by a friend. It's in the Walmart parking lot. Came by on a Friday morning with some friends after the gym. Wasn't crazy busy, music playing was kind of sad...thought uh oh! BUT service was good and the food was great. Tried the Greek skillet. Sounded like a strange combo but it worked! I would totally order that again. First time visiting and the service was outstanding!! We sat down with 3 adults plus a toddler and waited for 2 more in our party. My son started to get a little fussy as toddlers and kids do. The manager/owner was super nice and asked if we needed anything for him. He was so kind to bring out a complimentary soup and plate of fries to keep him entertained while we waited. The rest of the staff was also super nice asking if he was ok. Ultimately my kid was just tired and needed a nap but the fact that they won't out of their way to ensure he was comfortable was awesome. Thank you!! read more

Based on reviews, I was expecting more. It was a fine restaurant and meal, but nothing spectacular. Perhaps it was because it was close to closing time, but service was less than optimal. They will stop serving and letting you in even before they close. We showed up 35 min before closed and they told us they were closed when we clearly could see multiple people seated both eating and waiting to order. Looks like they remodeled as the place has a nice modern touch now. The floors are new and pretty much everything looks modern. It's interesting that there are several different light fixtures. I don't know, it was just worth noting. With the remodel, it seems like their menu has shrunk too. The menu is now one giant card, double-sided, with 90% of the menu being breakfast. So it's great if you're in the mood for breakfast, such as omelettes, skillets, crepes, and or pancakes. Not so much if you're not in a breakfast mood. I ordered the turkey club, which although not listed on the menu, had mayo on it. The club sandwich was cut into 4 mini triangles and came with fries. The turkey was very dry, so I guess that's what the mayo masked. The entree also included cream of chicken with rice. The soup was very salty and a little bit sour. It didn't come with any crackers. Overall, lunch was meh. We had 6 adults and 2 kids and bless her soul, but our waitress was a little overwhelmed. Most of our waters were left empty until near the end of our meal and I really wished she did mention the turkey club had mayo on it, although the menu did point out what came on the sandwich, like lettuce, turkey, tomato, and bacon. I guess you could argue a turkey club with mayo is implied anyways. Because it's like saying I was surprised the turkey club came with bread, even though the menu didn't list it came with bread. Although I hate sending things back, after some convincing from my friends, I decided to. They were nice enough to remake the sandwich without the mayo. Plus 1 star for that! Prices have always been a little high here, but the food has always been good. A couple years back new owners took over and we haven't been in since due to habit and then Covid. Walked in Sunday morning. Party of 1. Receptionist was just standing there not welcoming people walking in. I had to walk up to her and ask. Even though she is right by the entrance. I was sat down at about 15 minutes of wait. Which is fair since it was a busy morning. I was given a menu and another 15 minutes passed by until a waiter finally came over. I then placed my order. 15 more minutes passed and nothing. Waiter would walk by and not say anything. I usually like to tip 20% or more since I used to work in the service industry. Janine took our order over the phone Sunday morning and did not get flustered as I needed her assistance in how to best order for 10 people. Coffee delivered promptly. One thing kinda cheezed me off was that I ordered short stack of blueberry pancakes. After looking at what I thought was a high breakfast bill I noticed that short stack of cakes was $7.10 with blueberries adding an additional $2.00 making it a total of $9.10. A regular order of blueberry pancakes is only $9.00. That's bass ackwards right? Proper waitstaff would have noted that. That's a lotta green for average pancakes. So $28 (not incuding tip) for pancakes, waffle, hash browns and coffee (wife drinks water) is a bit pricey in my book. You can find similar quality elsewhere for a bit less money. read more

We sat at a booth and there was not enough room between the chair and the table so the table was sticking into our stomachs making the entire experience miserable. Since they've moved to a new location I thought I should bring over my previous review, which still holds true, and add my thoughts on their new spot. I don't know, maybe it's because we had been going to their original location for so many years that the new place just seems strange. There's nothing really wrong with it. It's in the old Applebee's spot so there's plenty of booths and tables, though it is not as huge of a location as their original so you may be more likely to wait for a table if you come at a peak time. I do miss the high ceiling and the bright airiness from all the windows at their previous location, though. With that said - everything I've said about their good food & service still stands: They have a HUGE menu and there are always some specials. We've been coming here for many years and my husband's family for many more prior to my appearance. All the servers and staff are very friendly and the food typically comes out pretty quick. I especially like how many meals (not all, for breakfast & lunch) come with fruit. It may not say this on the menu but I've been surprised a number of times to have two big slices of melon and an orange wedge garnishing my plate. I haven't had anything here I didn't like. My hubby is a pancake snob, however, and he says their pancakes are "too grainy" for his taste. I tried 'em and they seemed like fine normal pancakes to me. I really love their French Toast. Big, thick fluffy slices cooked to golden perfection. Slather on some butter and that warm syrup and I'm content. read more
