We often visited this location, so it is only fitting we had our first new year breakfast outing here. Nothing too surprising as a breakfast location. Each month, the restaurant offers 25% discount on a selected item - for example, it's blueberry pancakes currently. The service it always great, and every wait staffs here are friendly. They have gluten free pancake and waffle. I love to substitute (with an up charge) pancake option with Swedish pancake (1 piece only), and they give you a generous portion of lingonberry sauce, which I always bring home the extra. If you are looking for a place for breakfast or brunch, check out this Walker Bros location.

We came on a Friday brunch time. It was busy but not to the point we had to wait with was great. The crispy crunchy french toast was the highlight of the meal out of everything we ordered. The service was wonderful. Our waitress was on point with service and we truly appreciated him. Definitely want to come back for the French toast. Next time I will definitely be sharing it. Great portions.

Visited yesterday. Nice building - staff was very attentive. Friend had a latte that she said was delicious and she raved about her cherry crepes. I just ordered pancakes which were good. Couple of thoughts on our meal. I asked if I could have one pancake. I can't eat a lot and one is enough. I wish restaurants would allow for smaller portions (like kids menu size) for adults. Most won't and I do understand. My iced tea came in the smallest glass. With all the ice it was like 3 sips. Server was not around a lot for refills so for the price of my drink / I got very little. I would totally recommend checking out this place / it is very nice and in a great location too.

This was our first visit here. It's simple and cute inside. Our service was fine. Our waitress was lovely and friendly, The cinnamon apple pancakes were extremely too hot to eat. Had to wait a while so before we could eat them. In which made the apples very soggy Also way too much brown sugar on top. Could barely taste the pancake The Mediterranean omelette was ok but it was way too hot. Had to wait a while before I could eat it. I would not order either of the two again. And the coffee was quite strong On a brighter note if I'm in the area, I may try out this place again.

Big Party, Big Appetites, Big Breakfast, Fully satisfied. We were a party of 9, getting together to celebrate a birthday. I have been to a couple of different locations around Chicagoland, but never on a Sunday, so didn't completely know what to expect. Walker Bros does not accept reservations, but as we found out, the turn-over of tables is really fast and it truly is a family restaurant, being able to handle very young kids. Walker Bros was founded by brothers in 1960, and expanded throughout Chicagoland by their sons. One of the sons expanded to Southern California as Richard Walkers Pancake House, and we had been to the location in San Diego. So we kinda knew what to expect. The three of us were the first to arrive around 10:30 for a 11 start, so was able to ask for a table for 10 for 11 am. Sure enough, at 11 am, we were seated. Between 10:30 and 11, a bunch of people came in, but everyone was seated within 10 minutes (this is good since the waiting area was not designed to handle a lot of people). Later I realized that it wasn't THAT crowded...probably because of the mid 30 degree day that we were having. The food was excellent throughout. I like to eat non- breakfast food if there is something on the menu that interests me...this time it was the Strawberry Pecan Blue Cheese Salad ($14.50). It was good, though I wish the dressing had been on the side. The pecans were doubly glazed (candied), the strawberries were fresh...blue cheese crumbles would have taken this dish over the top. Luckily, my relatives know how I like to sample, so they offered me parts of their meal as well (though none of them took any share of my salad...I'm sure they were thinking.."Doesn't he know it is brunch time"). I was able to create a beautiful smorgasbord plate. I love hash browns, and the Spicy Habanero Cheese Hash Browns ($8.00) is a must to share. Perfectly cooked, with quite an initial kick from the Habanero; this is the perfect example of using very hot peppers to totally enhance the flavor and experience of a dish. I also got to sample a slice of the Apple Cinnamon Pancake ($15.75 which is more like a fully realized glazed cinnamon roll cake, but a lot more satisfying). Thus with a plate that had these ingredients, the salad went PERFECTLY with the hashbrowns and the pancake...it was marvelous. Service throughout was wonderful. Our waitress and manager constantly came to check on us, and when they found out it was my SiL's birthday, came at the end of meal to sing 'Happy Birthday' (along with complementary ice cream). Everything about the timing of the service was excellent, and there were no mistakes. And there was enough space for the young children to not feel too constricted. Considering how busy it was, and the size of our party, this was a real achievement and was really appreciated. I now fully understand why Walker Bros is so popular.

The food was really good, Camila our waitress was very friendly next time I'm in Chicago I will definitely come here again.

Well within walking distance of our home, we decided it was time to give this popular spot a try - we received a warm welcome, and were pleased with the attentive and welcoming service. The ambiance almost seemed like that of the type of place you'd find in a mountain lodge - yet here it was, right in Schaumburg! My hubby was taken in by the apple pancake - and with special pricing for October, he couldn't resist. Me? I'm definitely into pecans, and the thought of a good pecan pancake was enough to get me into the door! A short time after we ordered on a crisp October morn, the food arrived! First up? My god. The Apple Pancake was absolutely delicious (yes, I had to try it!) - wow. What a GREAT pancake - flavorful, tasty,yummy---- delicious! Sadly, I couldn't say the same about my woe-begotten order of pecan pancakes. I had visions of pecans folded into the batter and pan-fried - but that's not what I got. I got a few dry little pecans "sprinkled" over regular pancakes. Really? You kicked butt on the Apple pancakes but punted on the Pecan pancakes? That's where the 1 pt demerit came from. Wow. Can you fix this up? Granted my little review won't impact the business of this local favorite- but maybe? I can hope!

Ask the Community - Walker Bros Original Pancake House

Do they have call ahead seating?

There is not call ahead seating, or reservations.

Is there outdoor dining area open?

They do have a patio on one side of the restaurant, by the parking lot. I think they can close it off if it's raining too

Our waiter this day was super nice and friendly, so no complaints whatsoever and the food came out very quickly. My only complaints here have been perhaps I've only realized it now is that they give you the coffee carafe they give you the water Kara and then you have to further serve yourself for the rest of the meal. Then, if you have leftovers, they give you the box and you have to go pack it yourself. If I have to do this amount of work myself, then why am I tipping a server who only came to actually take my order because I completely different group of people actually brought my plates and a completely different group of people cleaned off the table and the plates. Wow, this is not necessarily a crime or unique to first watch. I will say that delicious food is only enhanced by incredible service and experience. So they really need to up their game.

If you're a beer drinker, they have a massive selection on tap (about 90 taps--and no, that's not a typo!). They also have a large patio that looks like a great spot when the weather is nice. Inside, there's a good mix of low-tops, high-tops, banquettes, and booths. All the tabletops feature copper tops with wood trim, and exposure to water and food over time has given each table a unique patina. We arrived right as they were switching over from the brunch menu to dinner, and the staff made us feel very welcome. What We Ordered: Smoked Brisket Reuben Eggrolls: We ordered these special eggrolls for the table. My friend has a shellfish allergy, and since many traditional eggrolls contain shrimp, he was excited to try these. He said they were the best eggrolls he's ever had (though he admitted he doesn't eat them often!). He paired it with a Guinness Zero non-alcoholic draught and was amazed by how close it tasted to the original. Fish Tacos ($19): Recommended by another reviewer, these come with three cornmeal-battered, fried Mahi-Mahi tacos topped with cilantro lime cream and fresh micro cilantro. They were crispy and very tasty. If you're usually sensitive to cilantro, you might still enjoy these--I mostly tasted a bright, lemony freshness rather than heavy cilantro. Sides (Broccoli Rabe & Asparagus): I substituted chips for a vegetable side. Due to a mix-up in the kitchen, I got to try the broccoli rabe first, though it turned out way too spicy for anyone at our table. My actual order was asparagus--my absolute favorite--but it was a bit disappointing, as the bottom half of each stalk was woody and fibrous. Fish & Chips ($21.50): My friend went with this traditional entry. At that price point, he was expecting three fillets, but he couldn't finish the two that were served and took some home. Overall, a solid entrée. Classic Breakfast ($15.50): My husband got this from the brunch menu. He was very pleased with the scrambled eggs, potatoes, thick-sliced bacon, and sausage links. Overall, a solid visit with great variety on the menu!
