I recently started getting Brazilian's done after years of shaving. I hadn't had a wax in about 5 months plus my hair was coarse (from said past shaving), and this was my 4th time ever getting a Brazilian. Out of 3 other places I've visisted, HoneyBee was by far the best experience, especially for a noob like me. Deborah was my aesthetician and the amount of patience and kindness this woman has is so reassuring. She took the time to make sure I was fully comfortable and really worked with me to get the best results while trying to minimize discomfort as much as possible. By the end of the session, I knew I'd be coming back to her. I feel bad for writing such a low-star review, but I think it's important to share my experience in case it applies to anyone else. Viviane is very sweet and professional; she absolutely made me feel at ease. The location of her unit, in Portofino's, is very well-kept, and I love that there's a TV to watch while getting waxed. So, the sole reason for my negative review is the wax itself. It just didn't last for me - I felt stubbly soon after and had to get re-waxed at about 3 weeks. Other waxes have lasted me up to 5 weeks. I found it remarkably painless compared to other waxes I've had - I'd never had a honey wax before. I think that what happened was the wax ripped my hair close to the skin instead of pulling it at the root. My hair grew back rough instead of downy like it does after a good wax, probably because of the ripping. I'm glad that Viviane has great reviews and I wish her well. Just putting out my cautionary tale in case anyone else has the same issue. read more

I rarely sit down and write reviews. BUT- I have to let anyone contemplating getting a wax from Portifino's Brazillian Honey Wax know it is hands down the BEST waxing in LA! Please know that if you go, you will never go any where else again!! I used to go to Russian ladies, who are good, but their waxing rooms are stale, they often use a double dip method into the gross wax pot, and they basically just rip your hair out as fast as they can and I would leave with stray hairs everywhere! OH- and I would be in full sweats during it- NOT OK. At Portifino, I've found my Forever Waxer, Vivian! She is so sweet, easy to talk to, she knows exactly how to make you comfortable (I have always dreaded going for a wax.) On top of that, shes actually from Brazil, and she cares about the condition of your skin/hair. She is like a doctor of wax/hair! Enough said. - She uses a separate bowl for your wax (no dipping in community pot) - Theres always something playing on a flat screen in the room... Beyonce is always dancing up a storm while you are laying there. - The wax table is not your usual doctor type bed... its a plush table with pillows and Viv is always making sure you are super comfortable. - She does a super thorough job! - Afterwards, you can book a spray tan! A one stop shop! Portifino is also the only place in LA you can get a true custom spray tan! They custom blend a color, scent, and offer so many other amenities, you really get your moneys worth! I love Portofino's honey waxing! First of all, I am the most picky person when it comes to getting my eyebrows done, but Vivianne did an exceptionally great job at shaping my brows and getting every hair off that didn't belong. She has amazing hands and even gave me a little massage on my brows to calm my skin which felt amazing. Vivianne is super sweet, gentle, and efficient. The honey wax is great, completely organic and less painful than normal waxing. To put it simply, Viviane is the best. I moved to LA in January and bought Groupon deals for a couple different salons, expecting to look around until I found my favorite. I went to Viviane first, and knew immediately that I would never go anywhere else-- I didn't even wind up using the other Groupons I had paid for! I've been getting waxes at various salons in other cities for about 3 years now, and Viviane is miles better than the rest! She is friendly, kind and incredibly schedule accommodating. Viviane's Brazilian waxes are efficient, thorough and the closest to painless I've ever experienced. She never takes more than half hour, and always leaves me perfectly clean and hair-free. I also have sensitive skin, but the honey she uses is fabulous and never irritates or dries out my skin. I love the honey brazilian waxing! It is great! Everyone there does a great job. The honey removed the hair flawlessly and there is NO sticky messy aftermath. The honey is water soluble so it wipes away clean. They even condition the skin afterwards so I walk away feeling so fresh and so clean! :-) They also take their time after the waxing to tweeze any minor little hairs that were stubborn and stayed behind. They do a GREAT job and there is no need to go anywhere else. I highly recommend it! Save money by getting the three packet deal. ...I know money can be tight and sometimes it doesn't fit into your budget to get waxed but try to work it into your budget because it's totally worth it. I have had some horrifying wax experiences. Trust me, I could tell you stories that would make even a man cringe. This experience was heavenly. I would almost go as far as to say it was ALMOST relaxing. Viviane is amazing. She will be invited to my wedding, in fact, I might even have her officiate it. As long as I'm in LA, I won't go anywhere else! I go to the one on Montana Ave. in Santa Monica and all of the women there are pros. I've gone to Germana several times and she's done a fantastic job. The salon is clean, elegant, understated and discreet. Prices are great considering the amazing results. I am visiting L.A. Needed to get my full arms, legs & stomach waxed so came across this salon which had amazing ratings on yelp. However, for me it didn't live up to my expectations and nor to the good reviews that I read on it. Very very disappointed with the service!! Ariana did all my services. She was very nice at first but as time got closer to their closing hours i.e. 9 pm she just started getting very agitated & started doing my waxing very haphazardly. My appointment started at 7.45 pm & it takes at least an hour. She didn't care if she left patches of hair unwaxed, in fact, she just behaved very rude when pointed out to her. My worst experience ever since I felt like she was doing me a favour. Highly unprofessional and rude. Wouldn't recommend her to anyone. read more
