I've been here a few times and loved it, but the last time I went my food sat on the counter for over ten minutes before the guy calling out the orders finally put it in a bag and called my name. I didn't say anything sooner because I didn't think it was mine since it was just sitting there and he kept looking at the receipt on it and then went and did other stuff. I'm not sure why he didn't give it to me when it was ready. I took it back to my office and then discovered the vegan salad I ordered had chicken in it! So not only did he make me wait for no good reason, my order was wrong! I emailed to complain and have yet to hear back from them, so I won't be returning. I was surprised to see mixed reviews because I previously had a chance to try some Honeygrow products thanks to some free offerings at a Trail Creek Series Race and enjoyed them so I gave it a go. Ordering was quick and painless with their easy to use and attractive kiosks and despite the fact the place was packed it took less five minutes to get my salad out. It was much higher quality than the salad works salads I've had previously. I'd probably eat there again but it's a little too much money to make it a routine. read more

I like restaurants like honeygrow, which offer fast, healthy, and affordable food. I was happy with the quality of the ingredients and the ability to customize your meals. Ordering process was very cool, as you use touchscreen computers to order and customize your meal. Staff was friendly, and the restaurant atmosphere is just right for a casual lunch or dinner. Called over the phone and was greeted by a young man with a very outgoing bright personality!!! This already had me and my boyfriend very excited to eat here, especially since they offer vegan options! We went in and used a digital screen which was very easy to navigate through, and we used a create your own stir fry and a honey bar bowl as well! HoneybarOur orders were ready within about 5-7 minutes!! And the food was absolutely SO flavorful and DELICIOUS!! I took my 6 year old here for some healthy eating. We both loved it. I loved being able to go through exactly what I want on my food at the kiosk. My daughter had a fruit salad with yogurt and granola. I had an entree with noodles, shrimp, and mushrooms. My daughter is an athlete and practices nearby, so I was looking for a reliable place where we could have healthy eating in this area. I definitely found it. Went here for lunch. The ordering is via screen to add what you want. It's difficult to ask questions because everyone is busy filling orders. I ordered red curry with chicken. When I got my order I thought it was strange to have no sauce- but my ticket clearly said red curry sauce. Don't know how staff "forgets" to put on the sauce and no one checked to make sure the order was correct. My friend had garlic tofu with sesame and that was probably the better choice. There was plenty of tofu in hers and barely any chicken in mine oh and I had three pieces of pineapple. Mine was mostly noodles and hers looked so much better. Our friends wanted to go here really badly last night, so we went with them for our first time. We really expected a lot better. We ordered as two couples, and their food came out long before ours did. My wife ordered a chicken stirfry, and I ordered a pork stirfry. A girl called us up and told us they were out of bell peppers, and would we like to substitute something else? We each ordered something different to substitute and they said they would finish making it. When they finally called us up for the order, there was only one stirfry. We asked what happened to the second one, and they said that it didn't print out, but they would start making that one, using my receipt as the guide. (How did this happen when we were both called up earlier to make substitutions- they had to know a second one existed - where did that one go?) When they were both finally ready about 20 minutes after our other friends got their food, the orders were completely wrong. I had ordered the pork over noodles; she ordered the chicken over brown rice. We both got chicken, we both got brown rice, and we both had bell peppers instead of our substitutions. Ultimately, my wife got something close to what she ordered and I got nothing like what I ordered at all. Not true; I did get the bell peppers they were supposedly out of; the rest was all wrong. The guy at the counter couldn't tell them apart, though. What if I'd been allergic to something in the wrong one? He couldn't even tell me if it was rice or noodles in it. It's kind of amazing how there can be computer and verbal and written confirmations after all the mistakes, and still the order was completely wrong. I went to the counter again to tell them, and they were very apologetic. By this point though, I just needed to eat because we'd been waiting over a half an hour for this to be done correctly, our friends (and my wife) were done eating, and so I just ate when I was given. What I did get tasted ok except for not liking brown rice, but it wasn't what I wanted (or what we paid for, and no difference in price was offered back, just apologies). The guy at the counter said that he would take my name and email address and phone number and the general manager would be contacting me in a little while. That was yesterday; I still haven't been contacted by anyone. Although, I don't know what he would offer me at this point, or if we would even want to go back. Overall, just a very disappointing experience. With all of their fancy touchscreen ordering systems, do you would think it wouldn't be that hard to get an order correct, let alone two. There are a lot of options on Main Street, including some very similar-type places. I'm not sure what would have me coming back here when I can walk elsewhere and have a much better experience. One star for terrible experience, a second for tasting ok even though it was wrong. * * Update ** As you can see in the comments, they asked me to shoot them an email so they can make things right. So excited that this restaurant is open! This place is amazing and I highly recommend going. The food here is delicious and they get their ingredients from local good places, this is very important to me and thank goodness a restaurant has opened that cares about this. They offer stir fry bowls, salads, smoothies, and wonderful fruit bowls with your choice of fresh honey and other good for you toppings. You order with a touch screen (love this) but if you do have any questions the staff is always close to help you in any way. They have thought of all of the little things when ordering on a touch touchscreen as well such as options for extra or on the side with toppings and other ingredients. This restaurant is fantastic. I choose to eat here almost every day using my Off Campus Meal Plan. The service is always quick, and each of the workers is always there to help out if you have a question or need help using one of the machines. Kaylyn is one of the most invested employees I've ever seen, especially at a fast food restaurant. She greets every customer when they come in, asks how the food is and is happy to accommodate if something doesn't come out right. Wow. Bad. Lunchroom style ordering with lunchroom style food. My friend and I ordered stir fries that were equally terrible in how badly they were prepared. I ordered spicy tofu stir fry with carrots, edamame with boston lettuce. There was no lettuce, also a random mushroom found its way in there. It was swimming in the watery 5 spice soy sauce that had little to no flavor. My friend got a stir fry with noodles and the curry "sauce" that is more of a mayonaise. She ordered vegetable add ins, but the whole thing was basically just ramen noodles in mayonaise. At almost $10 per plate, this experience was nothing short of a ripoff. honeygrow claims to be healthy and organic, however their food was greasy and left us feeling like we needed to hit the gym. This is a new location and it was busy, but damn.. that sucked. read more

First try.. Very good, food quality was very good as well. One irritation - I substituted shrimp for turkey in my red curry stir fry, which was about a $2 upcharge over the $8 base price. That's fine, but the volume of shrimp was a lot less than the pork in my husband's bowl. Didn't think to count, but fewer than 8 very small shrimp. We stopped at this location for the first time after having many great experiences at the Philly location. Unfortunately, we will leave our future Honeygrow experiences to Philly. The chefs at this location need a lesson on portioning appropriately. My husband and I each created our own stirfry. He orders his own stirfry with extra veggies and double meat, yet somehow, his was a significantly smaller portion than mine. I came in Honeygrow in order to get a quick takeout and also try out their new pear salad today but I was really disappointed. First, the waiting time for the salad was extremely long, and it was only 11am, not even crowded lunch hour yet! All the stir-fries came out before I could get my salad. When I got my takeout, half an hour has already passed. Is it even harder to mix all ingredients for a salad than to stir-fry them?! Second, I added chicken as the protein on my order but I rushed out without checking. When I got back to my office, I found out that they forgot to add the protein at all! AND it took that long for them to make this salad and they didn't even get the order right! How efficient was that! Not to mention that this is actually the second time I have experienced the missing of added protein. Only last time I dined in so they were able to fix it. I love the ordering kiosks because they are fast, accurate and it's very easy to customize your meal. The noise level didn't bother me and I was there twice for lunch in the summer. I like the atmosphere. I'm not normally a soda drinker, but their natural soft drinks are good and worth the calories. I did a white egg noodles bowl with chili garlic sauce, chicken, carrots, snap peas, broccoli and red onions topped with cilantro and crushed red pepper. I had the same order on both visits. The second visit was a bit too heavy on the sauce, but both were good. It's a nice addition to Main St. in Newark and I like that it can satisfy meat-eaters, vegetarians and vegans. My food was prepared quickly and accurately. I do think the price point is a wee bit high for the portion (I paid about $13 for my noodle dish and a drink), but the presentation and quality of ingredients is great. I wouldn't go here every week and I wouldn't bring my entire family (once you hit $13-15/per person I'm looking for table service), but for once a month it works. read more

Like most of the restaurants on Main Street, their portions get smaller and the prices get higher as they go. This is one of the many places on Main Street with the "build-your-own" style but it usually ends up costing around $11 where as other restaurants cost about $8-9. Wasn't too expensive and we got all the way to the hotel and up to our room and the salad was still cold and crisp and the stir-fry was very warm! First and last visit to HoneyGrow yesterday. I love the concept of fresh organic food but the delivery lacks a couple of things. First my food wasn't cooked all the way. Second the music is so loud in the place you can't even converse with the person across the table from you. An employee ask me how everything was and I told her that my noodles were undercooked she offered to make me a new on and I said no it was alright. Then the manager came over and I explained to her I didn't want anything for free I was asked how everything was and I gave an honest answer. For an $11.00 bowl I did expect to get food that was cooked all the way but the entire staff is hollering at the cooks about how long it was since the customer ordered your not going to get well cooked food. read more
