This has to the be THE WORST Thai food in New York. I eat Thai food all the time. I've been to hundreds of Thai restaurants. I recently moved to Pelham bay and this is the only place around so I figured I would try. Once I walked in I had a bad feeling about the restaurant because of the weird smell. But I decided to give it a shot. I ordered chicken green curry and the sauce was absolutely horrid. It was so sweet and tasted terrible. Green curry should have some sweetness but this was way too much. But it wasn't just the sweetness, the taste itself was putrid. The chicken also had no flavor. I called the restaurant after to let them know about this and the manager said that other customers love the food and that she will tell the chef and then hung up. Really great customer service...this place should be ashamed of themselves. I don't even think anybody in there is Thai. She claimed the chef is Thai but there is NO WAY any Thai chef would cook that garbage. Stay away from this place read more

I was so uncomfortable with the waitress who turned out to be so rude and aggressive I hope the place will speak with her because I did like my main dish (not so much the appetizer, roti canai). They're also using old menus with a sticker I didn't see that says all the prices for virtually every item were around $2.50 less than what they're charging, and of course I didn't see this sticker and of course the waitress didn't make any note of it, just handing me a ticket that was $9.00 more than I expected, including assessing the tip. For years I've passed this restaurant and wanted to try it, finally I made the time over the weekend. Unexpectedly, there was BLASTING salsa and no customers or employees were in there. Eventually a Latina waitress came out and called me "mi amor" and "sweetheart". I told her the music was so loud I didn't know if I could stay and she turned the music down. Then she went back into the back and started talking SO LOUD with whoever else was back there, and I could barely hear their voices but only hers. Five minutes later I got up to approach the kitchen and ask if she could take my order. When she came out again told her I'd like to eat outside, but I didn't tell her it was because I also didn't want to hear her loud talking. I didn't need anything, but the whole time I ate she never came out to ask me if I did, and I was happy to bring my dishes into the place when I finished. She had turned the music up REALLY loud again and I winced, and she said "sweetheart, you REALLY don't like Spanish music" which I told her was not true at all, I just wasn't expecting disco-level volume at what I thought was a delightful Thai restaurant. Then she gave me the check and I was trying to politely explain that if I'm going to be charged $34 instead of $24 that I was expecting, they should make people aware that the prices are old; she wouldn't let me even make my point and said she didn't need customers' "negativity" and that she would give me a "discount" (which is not what it is). She also said I had "demanded" she turned the music down which was ridiculous. While I was leaving I overheard her in Spanish tell people in the kitchen she was sick of customers who complained. Honey's food is delicious. The curry puffs appetizers are so good. The outer pastry is light and scrumptious and the filling is superb. The shrimp on a skewer covered in peanut sauce is another one of my faves. Love the many choices of pad thai, I have had the chicken and also the shrimp, and both are excellent. The Thai Tea is very cool and refreshing. I love the purple rice dessert and mango sticky rice. The soups here are tops. As far as I'm concerned this is a rare neighborhood gem. We don't have very many choices for exotic food around here, and this place shines. The owner is a bright and sunny lady who is always smiling and makes going to Honey's a fantastic experience. I have always enjoyed every single dish at Honey's and am especially pleased that they added Rendang back to the menu. They now have a bar with great exotic drinks. A plus all the way!!!! This restaurant is a joke. My noodles with shrimp was salty when I asked if I could get coconut rice to off set the saltiness I was given rice with sweet syrupy coconut on top of it which I refused to eat. The prices on the menu was not the same price on the receipt. When I brought this to their attention she directed me to a small sticker on the front of the menu that stated they are charging 2-3 dollars more for items on the menu and she did not like the fact that I was asking questions by her facial expressions. The food was not good at all and the taste of true Thai food was not present plus a person came back into the restaurant for an order he purchased and was upset because he told them no egg product in his order and there was egg products in his meal which he is very allergic too. The service was poor and one star is being generous. WILL NOT BE RETURNING!! read more

Went there for dinner. Wasnt impressed with rolls the wrap was too tough and seemed stale. The fill was mostly lettuce and u could not taste the tofu or anything. My Main course was Laab with beef which was ok to be the honest. We shared (my girl friend) the Tom Yum soup but..... Overall went there as its close to where I live and I love Thai food. When I first saw the awning, I was thinking of doing a pool of how long it would take for the business to fail and post the "for rent" sign. This area is terrible in terms of restaurant turnover, as I remember the last two businesses this used to be. Maybe it's time to build a Starbucks? I've experienced the delivery, take out and dine in. Delivery is fast and for some reason, I feel as if I receive the most food volume (versus dining in) but it could just be an optical illusion. When I do a take out order, I sit and wait, while enjoying a Chang (Thailand) beer and making small talk with the owner. But when I have dined in, I feel obligated to stare at the plasma television. The decor is simple, not ostentatious. The owner/hostess is a very friendly and happy lady. She is attentive and I like that. The waitstaff, however, not so much. Curry puffs, crispy spring rolls, basil beef and pad thai taste fine, but illustrate the same enthusiasm of a 10 year-old-boy being told to do homework on a Saturday morning. Curries can be made spicy upon request which I appreciate. Impressive is the "scary-looking" fried whole red snapper. Is everything on the menu good? No. I've been given recommendations to try the duck salad and it's sweet every time. I've tried the other salads and they are just ruined by the sweet dressing. It's a shame this can't be done right (or maybe this "works as poorly designed"). I am happy this restaurant is here in my neighborhood and I hope it continues to do well, but let's face it. Came here in search of a lunch special. The place was empty, I don't know why, their food was outstanding ! Lunch special price was reasonable, and I really liked they let me get club soda as my soda (some places are weird with that). When I ordered my pad Thai she asked if I had any egg or nut allergy so I thought it was really nice how attentive she was. Food was brought out quickly and hot and beautifully presented. I ordered here from the past, was ok. But lately i've had nothing but issues trying to order from them. I tried a few weeks ago, i then get a call back telling me their driver got into a car accident and will have to cancel. Today again I tried to order via yelp/grubhub and not only did they not deliver, but when i tried to call their number to try to find out where my food is i got what sounded like a fax number. It's so damn hot out. I need somewhere good to eat to cool off in some comfy AC. Unfortunately, Honey's is somewhere good to eat, but the AC was not on. The food was good. I had no issue. I was taken care of right away, even though I was the only diner. The lunch special runs $8.50 and includes a can soda. I would've preferred a spring roll or salad, but hey, every place is different. You can't always get what you want. Right? Anyway, the manager/ owner(?) apologized for the AC being down. It was really uncomfortable even sitting in front of that fan. I do appreciate him thanking me for still wanting to eat even with no AC. I made the best of it and just imagined I was in Thailand eating Thai food, in the HEAT. This update really pains me but I have to be honest and warn others. I came here after working out and was extremely hungry but knew that I would have good food but boy was I WRONG!!!! It appears that this location is under new management as there's an Chinese woman running the establishment, not the husband and wife I was accustomed to seeing. When I arrived, I noticed that they had a cash only sign, although their menus and flyers state that they accept all credit cards.. I'm like what the heck!!! The woman received a call from someone and was complaining about her fear of hiring new staff and business being slow. All while I'm waiting to order and another woman was waiting to pay her bill, in which she asked if the woman could talk on the phone and close out her check. I'm hungry, so I order my usual, shrimp basil fried rice and vegetable green curry. I was in utter shock when I received my bill for $30! I'm like WHAT, are you kidding me?!?! This same order used to cost me about $24 a few months ago. Like I mentioned earlier, I was hungry... So I get home and open up my food, portions look fine, curry looks like it usually does, minus my request for onions. No biggie... However, my basil fried rice looked different and had a more soy sauce looking color. New cooks so I'm still game. Then it all falls apart when I start to eat the food, the rice lacked flavor and tasted as if it came from a mediocre Chinese food restaurant, but for 3 times the price. Then my curry was equally as bland but I should've known because they didn't ask my desired spice level. For $30, I felt as if I was robbed. I could've gone to my local Chinese restaurant, purchased food for two days, a lot more satisfied and probably saved a buck or two. This place will surely end up out of business at this rate. Honey Thai is my one and only favorite Thai restaurant in the Bronx. My boyfriend and I have frequented this restaurant on numerous occasions and always greeted with excellent service and reliable great tasting food. The restaurant is very casual and never noisy. Prices are moderate ranging from $9.95-$14.95 for most meals and the portions are very generous. The appetizers are slightly less but I was never that impressed due to average taste and small quantity. I'm a huge fan of dumplings and did not fall in love with them here. The prices of appetizers are also about $3-$4 less than an entree. I believe just ordering meals is the way to go here. Honey Thai provides a pretty full menu too. Our top favorite meals are the Garlic Shrimp, Sweet Sour Spicy Chicken (or beef, shrimp, squid, pork), Honey's Special Lamb, Honey's Spare Ribs. All splendid meals and did I mention you get to choose the spiciness of your meal? This is important because one time I felt that I could handle a higher level of spiciness. I know right! my American palate can't handle the advance Thai spiciness! Fortunately, the waitress was kind enough to take my plate back and give me a new...less volcanic meal. =( The embarrassment was quickly washed away by the delicious replacement and a glass of Thai ice tea. I used to enjoy eating here. I took a lot of my friends and family here for a quick bite. To say the last few times were bad is sort of an understatement. The food is good and the curry puffs are amazing. With that said, there are a few reasons I won't eat here again. Extremely bad service- I ate in-house a few weeks ago- I asked repeatedly for a glass of water, and a few times for utensils and did not get either. I just took a fork from a table nearby. Food quality- I did take-out a few nights ago- shrimp pad thai... which is usually good. I am not sure if the shrimp was undercooked or overcooked, but it was hard and rank. I did not eat it. Prices- there is a constant increase in prices. To some extent, I understand but it's gotten to be a bit ridiculous. There are other thai places in the area. I've tried Honey's a few times in the past year and I've always been satisfied by the flavor and the food. I'm not particularly fond of Pad Thai, so I've had a chance to try a few of their other dishes. My favorites include Pad Key Mao and Green Curry Noodles. I love that you can choose your own level of spiciness! The service can suffer a little bit if it's busy. The waitstaff will come quickly to bring your order, but don't count on lots of refills for your water. This was pretty inconvenient when eating the spicier dishes! Overall, I'm always happy to go to Honey's. It's quick and very reasonably priced, considering it's the only Thai place in the area. read more

I ordered Chicken Thai Brown Sauce and was so disappointed in the blandness and texture of the chicken. The sauce tasted like simple browning, water and salt. Where were the Thai flavors? I felt like I was eating neighborhood Chinese food. It's sad because I used to love this restaurant and came here over the years before they closed. They are back open. I ordered on Seamless. I had the beef pat see ewe, and it was just average. I've had so much Thai food in my life, I know what's good and what's an average bunch of noodles. This place does deliver, which is nice. They also give you the handy, round to go containers you can keep reusing at home (going green!). Other than that, $9 for beef pat see ewe did not deliver much quality food. This is pretty much the only Thai food place in this area, and it's pretty good. I've ordered delivery and eaten in. Delivery has always been pretty good. Decent delivery time. When I ate in with my family on a weekday for dinner, the place was empty, so the waitress served us pretty quickly, which was nice. The restaurant is really spacious, which I like. The food here is pretty standard fare, above average. The curry puffs are good, and the sauce that comes with them was tangy. The pad key mao was really good. Noodles were perfectly cooked and they put in a lot of vegetables and meat. The spicy basil fried rice was just spicy basil chicken with a side of white rice. Not what I was expecting, but it was pretty good. Pretty standard dish, nothing special about it. I've also had the green curry, which is one of my favorites (along with pad key mao). The portions are really good here. You really get a lot for your money. If you are in the area, I would definitely recommend you check this place out. read more
