When I say, "let's go to a bar," Craft and Carry first comes to mind. It is everything I want a bar to be: spacious enough that you're not fighting for seats and quiet enough that you're not shouting over conversations. I come there for a glass and read by the window, overlooking the street. This is mainly a beer joint, and although I don't drink beer, I do enjoy their sours and their crisp and delicious root beers. My husband has enjoyed every selection there. I tried their key lime pie flavor once, and I did like it! I also like that you can bring your own food. I've seen people come with all sorts of fare, from chips and dip to boxes of pizza. Come for a pint or for trivia on Wednesdays! The friendly staff will make you feel welcome. read more

My friend and I visited Craft+Carry last weekend when we met up with her cousin for a drink for his birthday. It's spacious, which was nice. And the service at the bar was great (I was a little too tired to read through their entire list of beers and asked for some recommendations in the kolsch family, and the bartender was really helpful). It was a pricey couple of drinks though ($30 for two beers, tax, and tip). If I were a beer girl at heart, I probably wouldn't mind. But I'm a wine girl at heart, so that felt like an expensive couple of beers to me! Overall, not a bad place at all if you're looking for some beers on the Upper East Side. Probably not a place I would frequent necessarily (maybe I'll be in a beer phase in my next decade of life and will change my mind)! read more

My wife and I came across this place walking around the neighborhood and loved their large tap list and beers you can take to go. We tried a flight of beers from the other four boroughs (nothing on tap from Manhattan) and two beers from upstate and took four beers to bring home that looked cool and two crowlers of our favorite beers on tap. Of the four borough, surprisingly the smallest one Staten Island had the best beer, Little Baby IPA from Flagship. The ambiance is great with plenty of seating and the staff is all wonderful. We definitely recommend this place to others and would love to come here or another one of their locations another time in NYC. read more

Craft+Carry is pretty consistent across its locations, so you know what you're getting at any given neighborhood. The UES store is fine, lots of beers on tap and in cans, no complaints there. The inside gives a steampunk vibe, and feels brighter and a bit more spacious than some of their other shops. Staff is always friendly and helpful with beer selection. The beer ain't cheap though! At around $10-$12 a pour (or can), you'll definitely pay a premium for that craft goodness. And in an area with a number of other good beer spots at a similar price point, it makes the UES location a decent fallback option if you're looking for a decent (but pricey) beer. read more

Pretty big space with a lot of area to hang out and get a drink with your friends! They have a huge array of beers both on draft and in a can in their multiple fridges. You can buy a can of beer to drink at the bar or you can buy it to take with you outside of the place.Cool concept where if you buy the beer to take home with you it's a couple of dollars cheaper. I am not a beer connoisseur by any means, but I like this place. I like the big beer selection and I like being able to choose by looking for the cutest can, lol. Nice casual vibe here. Crowd seems to be on the younger side. But it's not rowdy, so it's a nice place to grab a beer with friends and actually have a conversation. Only gripe is the chairs. Very low back chairs, so you can't really lean back. This means you really need to lean into the table to be comfortable. Fantastic beer bar. Maybe two dozen drafts. All crafts and a heavy focus on local and regional options. They had offerings from breweries such as Grimm, Finback, Evil Twin, Gun Hill, and Kills Boro just to give you an idea. Lots more. Those were just the taps. They also have a pretty large beer fridge. I didn't throughly inspect the offerings in the fridge but the few I glanced at seem to be pretty nice options. In addition to a top notch beer menu, they have plenty to do. They skeeball in the back. There are board games and card games too. Very spacious, so it's easy to fit larger groups. Service was quick and friendly. They have two gender neutral restrooms with one being handicap accessible. Handful of outlets available at the bar. Indoor and outdoor seating. read more

Craft and Carry is a new beer joint not far from my apartment. This review is for my beer drinking friends that come to visit me. They have over 300 selections for you to choose from. I enjoyed talking at length with the bartender. She said the selections change daily. I had been here before (yesterday) and was told they don't serve food. My next question to her today was "Can we bring food in?" She said "sure, any food you like!" That was good news. All I saw available today was some chips and pretzels on a shelf. They have a huge amount, and wide variety, of seating choices. There's big booths in back perfect for bringing pizzas and buying beer! Make your own party with your friends and family. They have the seats outside now that are brand new. It's a very pleasant atmosphere inside and outside. I'm happy you can bring food. I moved it and asked if it was okay, proceeded for 45 mins before a manager told me to leave without explaining to me why. He said he was calling police on me. Finally on the way out I overheard it was the because I was rude to the the worker who told me to me move my stroller nearly an hour prior. I've seen some bartenders be noticeably unfriendly, particularly toward customers with kids during the day. Solid craft beer on the UES! Two dozen or so rotating drafts, most of which are local to NY. Coolers full of canned craft beers with a few bottles mixed in. Staff is friendly. They have the Untappd screens showing the draft beers. Prices are fair. Tons of seating inside with a few tables outside. It was such a nice night that we just had to sit outdoors and sip on some local beers and ciders. Definitely the place for a beer snob such as myself! read more

Just what the neighborhood needed! I love the concept of this place. They offer a wide selection of beer and cider from local breweries. This place has potential, but told me that I couldn't let my child out of the stroller, when the place was basically empty. This is the UES, which is full of young families and all of the restaurants and bars are very accommodating. Telling anyone to keep their kid in a stroller or leave is honestly so out of touch with the neighborhood and 2024 in general. read more

I like this place a lot, but the prices are just too darn high. They have a nice selection, but there's not a single draught beer on the menu under $10 (and none are 16oz pours). The cans have a price for takeout and a higher price a few dollars more for drinking there. Many were roughly $11-13 for a 16oz can, if you drink it there. The space is new, clean, and a comfortable place to hang out. Also, the bartenders were very friendly and attentive. There's no kitchen, but you can bring your own food. It was mostly empty on a Sunday evening. I saw a number of people come in, look at the menu and leave without ordering. Overall, this place could have been great, but I don't plan on paying $24 for two beers again. read more

Went here as a pick-me-up with a friend after a particularly bad day in the late afternoon/early evening. It was a vibe! Definitely a cute little joint. I would have liked more help when it comes to suggestions/knowing what to order and how to order it, but once we made it clear we hadn't been there before they helped us out. Still, the world of craft beer can be a wide and uninviting one, and for the prices, some more help and education would have been sorely appreciated. This place seemed like a combination of a cafe and a bar if anything. Between the board games, the skiball, and people sitting at tables with computers, it was a very interesting vibe, and to be honest, one that clicked with me! Very relaxed. The bathroom was clean and cute. The whole place had nice decor and a good vibe. The skiball being free was honestly fantastic, and not what I'd have expected of a place with beers of this price. I'd go here again in the afternoon to hang out with a friend or with my computer and a book. The only downside of this place is there isn't any food. I get that it's a part of their model, but some sweets or baked goods could make a killing here. read more

This place has been great for children the last few years. Unit recently, where the weekend bartenders have been utterly rude to parents. There is a woman bartender who yelled at the children in a very aggressive tone. I have seen her several times the last few weekends and she is among the meanest bartenders I can remember. Except if you want to sit in the chair to drink the beer it costs like an extra 4 bucks so you are paying like 14 dollars to drink a beer in a place without much of a vibe. Very bad experience here last night. I live in the neighborhood and I've been going to this place a lot in the last year but will not be going back. I came in around 8:30pm to watch the Rangers game and drink craft beer. The bartender was rude and inattentive to the few customers that were there. I was sitting right across from her and , for the 3-4 minutes I was sitting at the bar , she didn't acknowledge me despite passing by me multiple times. She wasn't busy either: there were no more than 3 people at the bar and no more than 5 people in the whole place. She overheard someone talking about the hockey game and she said she is rooting against the Rangers because she doesn't  like them. Not a big deal but not something I'd want to hear when I plan on watching the game there for the next 2 hours. Then the topic of baseball came up and the bartender (who proclaimed to be a Red Sox and Patriots fan) yelled:  'If you're a Yankees fan , get the F*** out ! ' As a Yankees fan , I obliged. No need to settle up with the bartender because she never took my order (or even acknowledged I was there). I get it, not everyone in NYC supports the local teams. That's perfectly fine. But making someone feel that unwelcome is bad business and unprofessional. What kind of employee tells their customers to leave before they even greet them?? To the Craft + Carry Management / Ownership: you lost at least two customers yesterday because of the disrespectful and unpleasant service behind the bar last night. If you want to hire a Boston sports fan that hates the Yankees, I'm totally cool with that. But regardless of where someone is from or what their interests are, it's NEVER ok for a bartender to make a repeat customer want to leave your establishment and never come back. Very disappointing. I'll be going to City Swiggers for Craft Beer from now on. read more

I had been to this place a few times. It's new. I've lived in the area for awhile. I get along great with servers and bartenders..tip well too. I strolled in yesterday at 6:50 and it was moderately crowded but a young brown-haired bartender was free. An old pal has a niece who worked there. I inquired. He scowled at me...was curt...no smile...totally dismissive, then lied to me. (She was on break). This is one of the few places that makes me feel old the few times I've ventured in. This place has SO much potential, but the staff is almost unsettlingly rude. Every other Craft+Carry location is amazing, but I was so uncomfortable here. When I walked in, I said hi and asked if there was room in the back. I was told "I don't know, go look" pretty gruffly. A guy near us in the back was playing with his kid for about an hour while we were there, we walked in right before him so maybe something happened when he walked in? But he was so kind and considerate to my kids, and was playing with them so kindly. About an hour into him being there and not leaving the area, a manager came back and told him he had to leave immediately or he would call the cops. The guy kept asking what he did and they wouldn't tell him. They said it was their right to kick him out but didn't give an explanation. When I asked a bartender/server what happened after they left, they said that his child's stroller had blocked a doorway and he was rude about it to a bartender when they asked him to move it. I didn't witness this, and I don't support being unkind to waitstaff, but that felt like a very extreme reason to publicly and embarrassingly kick out a hands on father. A friend in my party noticed the man was wearing a Star of David necklace, and wondered if that was why. I don't want to accuse this place of that, but hours later, our friends could still not figure out what happened to the kind man who showed our kids love. I won't come back here again, and wouldn't recommend it unless they change the staff. The concept and beers are awesome though! read more
