    Flight from other four boroughs
    Kenneth K.

My wife and I came across this place walking around the neighborhood and loved their large tap list and beers you can take to go. We tried a flight of beers from the other four boroughs (nothing on tap from Manhattan) and two beers from upstate and took four beers to bring home that looked cool and two crowlers of our favorite beers on tap. Of the four borough, surprisingly the smallest one Staten Island had the best beer, Little Baby IPA from Flagship. The ambiance is great with plenty of seating and the staff is all wonderful. We definitely recommend this place to others and would love to come here or another one of their locations another time in NYC.

I am not a beer connoisseur by any means, but I like this place. I like the big beer selection and I like being able to choose by looking for the cutest can, lol. Nice casual vibe here. Crowd seems to be on the younger side. But it's not rowdy, so it's a nice place to grab a beer with friends and actually have a conversation. Only gripe is the chairs. Very low back chairs, so you can't really lean back. This means you really need to lean into the table to be comfortable. I guess that's fine if you're with your boo, but kinda awkward when you're just with your friend lol. Looks like there's games in the back too.

No food but they serve over 300 varieties of BEER! 07/24/21

Craft and Carry is a new beer joint not far from my apartment. This review is for my beer drinking friends that come to visit me. They have over 300 selections for you to choose from. I enjoyed talking at length with the bartender. She said the selections change daily. I had been here before (yesterday) and was told they don't serve food. My next question to her today was "Can we bring food in?" She said "sure, any food you like!" That was good news. All I saw available today was some chips and pretzels on a shelf. They have a huge amount, and wide variety, of seating choices. There's big booths in back perfect for bringing pizzas and buying beer! Make your own party with your friends and family. They have the seats outside now that are brand new. It's a very pleasant atmosphere inside and outside. I'm happy you can bring food. I'll be bringing my friends so we can sample the many delicious flavors of beer. If you're a beer lover you will want to check out Craft and Carry!

Tons of beers and ciders on tap as well as many options for carryout in their fridge. Great snacks in bags for purchase. Love love love that they have skee-ball in the back. Super chill vibes and staff is great. Love the original sin blackberry cider. Very smooth. So thankful for a place in the neighborhood with cider options other than angry orchard and magners. Cheers!

Loved this place. Friendly staff happy to advise me on my flight choices. Yummy brews on tap. Many more yummy brews in the fridges. Skeeball! Board games! If I lived here, I'd go every day.

Large selection of craft beers on tap as well as a number of fridges with craft beers that can be bought to stay or to go. Importantly, there is no food sold here but there are multiple nearby restaurants where food can be picked up and brought to the bar. A nice place to experience some new beers and catch up with friends.

They have a bunch of board games and a skee-ball machine which is fun. Lots of beers on tap or refrigerated items you can purchase and open.

It's a pretty nice sports bar with large TV screens throughout the place so will definitely be on my list of places to hit up to watch a few games! Overall food and service was on point, but also it was a random weeknight where there wasn't a crowd. Either way, recommend this bar if you're looking to grab a bite or watch a game! Classic Waygu Burger - 4/5 Great tasting and juicy burger, but one thing I wish was included was a side of fries at bare minimum. Cook of the meat was on point Disco Fries - 5/5 - Think of it as poutine but with mozzarella instead. Great side dish to a burger

What to make of this place?…read more When we visited in September (at that time), a wanna-be sports bar had just taken over the Greek taverna Blue Sea Taverna (before that, two iterations of Akrotiri). Both Greek tavernas had failed or gone out of business. So we were curious to see what changes had been made. When we entered, we were initially confused because the seating, especially the lounge seating, did not create a sports bar vibe. Even adding a bunch of TVs did not give us that feel either. Instead, our initial impression was that they were trying to convert an old Greek taverna into a gastropub, similar to other well-known ones in the area. And I should also add we had not been following the local news about the controversy regarding their name association with a World War II fortified bunker that was blown up at the end of the Second World War, and only read about the controversy over their name after we left, and on social media. Apparently, the owner(s) were most likely unaware of its historical context when naming their establishment. So we did not factor that into this review. Upon entering the Wolf's Lair, the seating was that of a modified Mediterranean restaurant. We chose the comfy seating looking out towards 29th Street and 30th Avenue. It had been raining heavily, and so we were just glad to be inside. Because our initial impression was that we were in a Mediterranean gastropub, we ordered lamb chops with lemon potatoes. The waiter, who may have been one of the owners, informed us that this vegetable was not on the menu; however, when our chops arrived, as you can see from the photos, we were indeed served lemon potatoes. We got what we ordered, which made us happy, and the chops were cooked to perfection. As we usually do not drink alcohol, beverages were not factored into our review. However, there was one thing we found a little strange and creepy. When we left, one of the employees, presumably an owner, insisted on coming out to help take photos. This was a little off-putting. Nevertheless, we got some good shots. In writing this review, we spent a lot of time deliberating our experience at the Wolf's Lair. We focused on the restaurant, service, food quality, and atmosphere. While the overall experience was excellent, we did not find Wolf's Lair to have a sports-bar atmosphere, but rather a family-dining atmosphere. On the day we visited, there was hardly any action at the bar, and most of us seated were into the food, if nothing else, with one family having a birthday party for one of their children. Overall, we had a good experience. Whether we come back to see if the Wolf's Lair becomes an actual sports bar, well, that's another matter.
