Going through memory lane, Moon Star was a go to spot for us. We moved to Jersey and drove back here to see if things changed. It's just as good as we remembered, thank god since it was a hour ride haha there's not much reviews on here so I just had to write one. There's plenty of table seating, we arrived about 10 mins after they opened so it was pretty cold and the heat took awhile to kick in. Mind you it was 15 degrees out so that's understandable. But food came out quick and fresh, they do offer hot tea if requested. Very authentic Vietnamese restaurant with lots of options to choose from. Price was decent, they do have a small lunch menu but portions were perfect sized. read more

A real gem. Non-descript on a busy street, with an equally non-descript interior, but the food is generally anything but. Large and long menus usually scare me, but after having eaten there 3 times, always something different, there has yet to be served a bad dish. Standouts include one of the best hot/sour soup around, a robust twice cooked pork belly, anything fried is done non-greasy and crunchy, and don't forget fried ice cream. I never put hoisin sauce in the broth when i eat pho but i had to use a lot of sauce to flavor the broth. We ordered 7 different dishes and not one of them was good. The hot & sour soup should be called 'sweet & sour' - tasted absolutely terrible! All the flavors were flat and pretty tasteless. Szechuan dumplings doused in a sticky sweet sauce. General Tso's chicken was acceptable but nothing special. Chicken with ginger & scallion at least had some ginger to make it edible, again nothing to write home about. Mixed vegetable with black bean sauce was a totally bland dish. And lastly Chef's Special: Vietnamese Style Grilled Chicken was completely dried out and tough as shoe leather. Be warned! Don't waste your money on this restaurant. MSG does a great job with fast service for home delivery. The Summer rolls w/shrimp are large and fresh. The roll is a bit sticky and stretchy due to the steam in the container and the delivery time. Not complaining, but I'm sure they are better when dining in. My number one dish is #48 Cumin Chicken, spicy and the favor is to make you sooo happy. #83- Basil Prawns are sauteed with sweet snow peas, red pepper, mushroom, squash, lotus root, asparagus with basil in our chef's spicy sauce. The restaurant itself has about 10 tables, and on this early evening, there were two or three small groups eating there. Our food was ok. I appreciate the hot sauce that came with our dishes, which boosted the flavor. The pineapple fried rice was good, and the fried pork dumplings were standard fried goodness. The lemony sauce that came with it was very surprising to me. The Bo Xao Gung had a nice portion of beef-to-veggies, but the sauce was a little lumpy (maybe too much cornstarch?), and I didn't really want to finish it. I would try a different protein dish next time, but overall, I think they do some "standard" (re: American) Chinese dishes well. read more

While I typically stay away from fusion restaurants because I think it's best to specialize in one thing rather than try to be a jack of all trades, master of none, I was tempted by the pictures of the summer rolls here on Yelp. They were bigger than any summer roll I've ever seen! I've had pretty positive experiences every time I've ordered from them. The summer rolls are huge (I cannot stress the size of them enough!) and really soft. They taste good too, though my order for less noodles and more beansprouts in its place is often ignored. The delivery time is normally pretty fast, typically way faster than the estimated time. I ordered curry chicken, scallion pancakes and basil chicken. The bill came out to about $40 and, man, was it NOT WORTH IT. Basil chicken, had no basil. And it tasted so extremely bland and horrible I have no words for it. The scallion pancake with beef tasted of no scallions and had been soaked in oil. The curry chicken-- the slightly better of the lot, was intensely mediocre. This unpleasant experience makes me wonder if these glowing reviews are real at all.
