Review Visit: November 12th, 2016 I wonder if they have a Peoria Buffet in Hong Kong... ha. Ok, lame jokes aside, I may have found a new love at this buffet. Jalapeno Pepper Chicken. Soooo good. I generally get General Tsao's (or Tso's) because it is supposed to have a nice spicy kick to it, but this takes the cake. General is hit and miss at places on spicyness, but I think Jalapeno Pepper Chicken would have a consistent spicy kick due to the... well, peppers. A few of the items on the buffet were meh. The sweet and sour chicken was a bit dough-y. Sugar biscuits had clumps of sugar instead of it being evenly distributed. General Tsao's was not spicy, but was still good. We came here for my friends birthday and I am pretty sure I have been here before to eat. I know my friend comes here at least once a week to get food to go. Yup, they sell food to go. Probably charge by the weight of the container? I don't know. I typically don't add buffets to my travel list. Why exactly? I don't have a specific reason, really. But I've added this and Grand Village Buffet now, so there are exceptions to my rules. This one is a bit pricey. The price for a dinner on a Saturday night was $15 and change. All in all, a pretty good buffet. The service was prompt. Selection was decent and plentiful despite them closing 90 minutes after we got there. the food was not that great there was like 3 things available when I went that were edible. most serving trays were empty or burnt for atleast half an hour. Several Food options were put up an hour before closing. Server never refilled my mans drink. Chicken was hard.... and to top it off it cost 80$ for a family of 5... you will pay 25% less than that at world buffet in Galesburg and it is significantly better. read more

Came in right at 11am and a lot of the food tasted undress. Seemed like the gyoza was from yesterday. Signage for items was not accurate in some places. Ice tea though was absolutely great compared to your usual unsweetened tea. Other than that just go to an Asian restaurant as this is your usual place where most items you choose you leave on your plate Un eaten. Peel and eat shrimp, crab Rangoon and hot n sour soup were edible...see pics. Rice was hard and not fresh or fully cooked. read more

Awesome chicken wings. Everthing was good, but those wings keep me coming back. I had the general chicken, the fried rive, steamed dumplings, sesame chicken, hunan beef,seriously everything was good. The place was very clean and the wait staff was outstanding. Did I mention the wings!! read more

Heard that this was reopening and decided to try it out considering there are not many Asian restaurants in Peoria. I like the selection here because it has a lot of seafood and sushi. I went on a Sunday evening and it was pretty packed but did not have to wait at all. We were seated immediately, they gave us full glasses of iced water, and we were off to roam for food. Some highlights were the salt and pepper fish, sushi that has a lot of filling inside instead of just rice, frog legs, hot and sour soup, mushrooms, and crayfish. Hot & sour soup has a sour and spicy kick to it and lots of ingredients. My favorite part of the dessert was getting to choose plantains and sugared donuts to pair with mini ice cream cups of chocolate, vanilla, or strawberry. Servers are very quick to grab finished plates and clean up after a party is done. A family's kids threw and spilled food all over the floor next to us, the workers cleaned it up with no problem and know how to prepare for the next party as no mess was ever made. The price is very affordable. Dinner prices for the weekend and weekdays are the same, which is unheard of for other buffets that will charge you more. They restock items and food quickly. The bathrooms are clean. The servers are quick and polite. Food tastes fresh. Plenty of parking. Good ambiance. read more

It was ok. Probably a decent place for those who like sushi, as they appeared to have several varieties. A lot of the offerings on the buffet were not labeled, so I really had no idea what I was eating. A lot of the items lacked flavor or had been sitting quite some time. it's pretty good. I really like the noodles and rice and sushi, but I feel like the bathroom could use a little cleaning. Last time I was there, paper towels were almost everywhere. But it's ok, I'm not too worried about it. They're super quick with the tables and have a pretty decent drink selection. Overall, pretty nice restaurant. I am SO happy this place opened! I'm not sure why people are saying it's not as good as last time they were open maybe because people went on opening day ‍. Give em break they just reopened! I was super happy with all the food! It was super crowded when I came in! But didn't wait that long! My favorites were chicken on a stick, ribs, potstickers and egg drop soup!! I didn't care for the beef and broccoli though. The fruit was fresh and juicy and the coconut cream pastries were so good! I miss this place so much!! Our dinner each was $15.99. My wife and I went here for our anniversary. The restaurant is very clean and the servers were prompt and pleasant. The food was very good. A few items were very hot which was good. I thought the current pop music playing seemed out of place. It threw off the ambiance for me a bit. It would be like going to a 50s restaurant and hearing classical music. read more

Chicken and other food on hot line were cold and stale. Dessert and cold food at room temperature. I was concerned about how long food actually had sat there. Flies all over the place. The general appearance of restaurant is clean(floors swept and tables cleaned).The servers were non existent when it came to refilling drinks(as many were sitting around), but ready for a tip when it came to pay. I won't be back. Everything on the buffet was cold food wise and was very overcooked. I didn't make it for seconds or the dessert bar. I put my fork down and got my first and only ready to be picked up so I could go back up and the lady hovering over my section asked if I was down with her hand on my plate and my cup. I replied, I guess so. She cleaned everything up before I even was ready to stand up. VERY RUDELY!!!!!!!!!! I was very insulted and went up to pay and leave. I was so excited when Hong Kong Buffet finally opened back up after Covid. They have new owners and the layout is different. Service was still fast with drink refills and clearing off the tables. However, their air conditioning was not working when I went in so the inside temperature was miserable. I was disappointed they removed the Hibachi grill option as well. If you are a seafood fan, you will be pleasantly surprised. They have a large variety of seafood options. My guests said they tasted okay. The salad bar and the desserts were Chinese buffet average. I am more of a land animal eater so I tried their chicken and vegetable entrees. They only had one beef entree and no pork entrees. Nothing was good. Just below average. The temperature of the food was hot and it was fresh though. It just lacked creativity and flavor. Quite a disappointment compared to the food that used to be here. Only entree that was slightly okay was the Honey Chicken but it wasn't worth eating a lot of it. This place would be nice for people who enjoy seafood or who are looking for a buffet. Typical buffet. Went in and the food was eh. Not a lot of flavor and they didnt have a lot of product out for customers, for a weekend lunch crowd, which the place was fairly packed for. Service and staff, especially the hibachi guy, were fairly rude and I overheard him mumbling rude things about people he was cooking for. (Funny that I speak Chinese...). Also when he did make my hibachi mean, chicken wasn't thoroughly cooked. Not very happy. Probably wont go bsck. read more

Went there and they didn't have any food out, never put food out the whole time we were there. Had to pay full price and we didn't tip and the lady begged for a tip and made my brother put a tip on his card. Never asked how it was or anything never came after she gave us our drinks. The food was okay, ish. Pretty average for a buffet of this caliber. The service however was awful. I've been several times, and it always seems like no matter how busy or slow they are it's hard to get the attention of a server. I have also had several issues with the owner/manager, I'm not really sure who he is to the business but hateful would be a word that comes to mind. The last time we were there, we finished our food and waited for about 10 minutes for a server to come bring us our ticket. Finally, I got up and went to the front counter, and was just going to pay for it there. The manager was at the counter as per usual and when he saw I didn't have the ticket, he started yelling at me about how he didn't know where I was sitting, and about how he can't know what everyone ordered and so on. Every time I'd try to explain what was going on, he would cut me off and ramble about how it was essentially my fault, and this continued until he smacked my card and receipt down on the counter and went on to the next person. I honestly had no idea how to react or respond, and it's been a solid few months since we've been back. Also, a word to the wise; keep an eye on the health inspector website. read more

Heard this place reopened decided to give it a try what a waste of money. The air conditioning might have been broken. It was very warm inside and full of people: The table was dirty and there was food on the seat. The food was awful, everything was sooo dry like fried chicken jerky, the hot food wasn't hot and the things that are supposed to be cold were room temp. It was awful. I won't be back. read more
