The crab rangoon's looks a little undercooked, but when I ate one, they were perfect, flaky outside creamy inside. One of the better Asian buffets I have been to in terms of food quality and restaurant cleanliness. The atmosphere in the restaurant is perfect, not too loud as the tables are almost in separate rooms, rather than in one large area with the buffet tables. And I could faintly hear some nice oriental music in the background which complimented the setting well, but was not so loud you had to yell to have a conversation at the table. The food was great, lots of options to choose from and many of the dishes have been "Americanized", so even if you are not big on Asian food, there would still be something for everyone to enjoy. The classics were good; sweet and sour chicken, vegetable fried rice, and crab rangoon. I recommend trying the Pepper Steak as well, but everything I had on my plates I liked. The service is ok. The staff is quick to get you in and out without much of a personality. Our waitress had our drink order taken and almost at the table by the time we sat down. She also cleared empty plates away promptly and checked in every so often for refills. I don't expect much more from a buffet restaurant. The price is where you find value. The lunch buffet was $7.99, less than $20 after taxes for myself and my guest. You can't beat that nowadays! Dinner buffet is $10.99 which includes steak, and seafood buffet on Friday and Saturday evenings for $13.99. All in all, a good place to try if you haven't already. Before they closed prices were great since reopening prices are high. They offer the buffet to go the sign had 8.99 but they failed to put per pound so they wrote that in with sharpie marker . My family and I frequent this buffet when we're getting a craving for some Chinese. The place is usually quiet when we do go, but there are many times when it is bustling and busy. The food is decent, some of it can be bland (the chicken fried rice, for example) but overall, it's pretty good. The atmosphere is nice, the building is roomy and there are plenty of options for food. There's your basic sweet and sour chicken, crab Rangoon, fried rice, lo mein, egg rolls, chicken skewers, peanut butter chicken, garlic bread, sugar rolls, peppered beef, sushi, stir fry station among tons of other food items. The staff is always friendly, except there is one girl that works there who always has a mean look on her face, never smiles often at all, but we've never had a problem with her otherwise. But, she could be friendlier. Giving 4 stars because it's a pretty solid place - but could be better. read more

Since this buffet has coupons viable 51 weeks a year, I found my last straw was "the cranky older lady" at the register you find in most reviews rejected my coupon that expired 48 hours prior. The atmosphere , servers, and cleanliness are decent, but as I've noted over several visits, DO NOT show up after 6:35 pm... as hot plentiful selections become less refilled. My review is just for carry-out. I was hoping to find a place that would let me get carry-out of the buffet for a certain price per pound, there must be somewhere in this city that does that!! I gave Hong Kong Buffet 2 stars simply because of our server. She seemed friendly by her smile, however, service wise, she seemed to be on her phone a lot as she watched us. The food was nothing to write home about. Nothing stood out differently, some items were dried out. The price is really expensive IMO. For dinner it was $14 and lunch was $10. Drinks are not included. There is not big difference between the lunch and dinner options to warrant a 4 dollar increase. Atmosphere is great and the selection is good also. I'd go back, but I wasn't overjoyed with the food. I got general, sesame, and sweet&sour chicken and none of them were crunchy as fried food usually is. Dessert was great, large selection! So this is coming from someone who appreciates good business practices and I'll admit that I do have a pet peeve for restaurant services and practices. This place was about the worst buffet I've ever been to in my life! You always expect somewhat mediocre food when going to a buffet, what do you expect? You're paying roughly $10/person which is the equivalent of fast food. My main issue with this place is not even the food, the food was about what I expected. My issue was the obvious lack of customer care from the employees and obvious skimping on the food. TONNES of carbs and sugar EVERYWHERE. So imagine a piece of sushi and how it's supposed to look (rectangular white rice with a slice of fish) what they serve is about twice the rice with a super thin sliced extra small price of salmon. Welcome to Hong Kong buffet, where we let everything sit out for an hour, never replace our food, then complain at the customer for not asking the manager to make a fresh batch of everything. The price of the buffet is thirteen dollars for dinner, a ridiculous amount for as mediocre and old as this food was. Nothing had been changed out for the hour we were there, meaning everything was lukewarm, dry, and gross. The manager was asked for and she basically blamed us for not enjoying the food and gave us a twenty percent discount after putting up an unprofessional fight. She then stomped off speaking obvious obscenities in Chinese. As we left the waitress wished us a nice night with a smile then started speaking under her breath in her native tongue. There are probably fifteen better options in the area for Chinese food (not the immediate area but if you're willing to drive, you'll find some of the best in Pekin and Washington). This may be the worst. The price is obviously because nobody eats there and they need to make money somehow but they'd probably make more money if there were standards and actual customer service. The local health inspectors will be given a call tomorrow, because I can guarantee this place isn't up to code. read more

I have eaten here at least 5 times, it has always been decent-not great but went there last week and was disappointed. Called and was told they close at 9:00pm on a Saturday night. we arrived at 8:10, the flat top grill portion of buffet was closed, there was 1 plate of left over dried out sushi, a lot of empty pans and extremely rude woman at cash register who told us we should have came earlier to eat. I'm not really sure why there aren't any reviews for this place so far, but as I'm coming to realize there aren't that many reviews for most of the places here in Peoria. First of all, you should realize that 3 stars is actually really good in terms of the food that we've come to find here. I'm only marking it down because compared to other Chinese buffets in different cities, this one isn't all that great. The food was good, there's a small sushi bar, and the decor/ambiance was nice. If you go Mon-Thurs nights for dinner it's $10.99. You can't really beat that, so we gave this place a shot, and I liked it! It's super close to where we live so it will probably be a place we frequent often when we are too lazy to cook! I felt as though there were lots of Americanized dishes compared to usual Chinese buffets, however, this could just be a Peoria thing. Overall, good place, and I'll be going back. read more
