    The Shrimp Fried Rice
    Stephanie S.

I'm sure this place used to be really good before Covid but I was disappointed when I tried it. They have one menu up front and you have to go ahead and order before you can sit at a table. My husband and I was looking at the menu when a family showed up. I then felt rushed to order something even though I this was my first time there. I order shrimp fried rice and this is what I got, I found one more shrimp after I took the picture. My husband's food was great. The lights were not on in the building only leaving about 6-7 tables with good window lighting. Just might be me but I thought it was odd. Their food is very tasty, just disappointed with the experience and the quantity of shrimp.

We'd been hiking @ Providence Canyon all morning and also spent a few hours at the Riverquarium that afternoon without eating. It was now about 4 o'clock and our last meal was about 7:30 a.m. before leaving our hotel for the day. Not a good idea!!! I was in the grumpiest of moods as I fought a serious hunger headache and everything seemed to get on my nerves. I didn't like anything, from how empty the place was to the aqua blue color of the walls. My OCD nature even hated the amount of clutter on the walls and several pictures were unlevel (I felt like I was having a Monk attack). To top it all off I thought it was a buffet... but I was wrong. Too hungry to go anyplace else we stayed and ordered our food. * SHRIMP & LOBSTER SAUCE - I did mention I was grumpy right? Well, I didn't like the way it looked when it came out (sorry, no pics because my iPhone died). It looked like slop on a plate to me and to add insult to injury, I don't care for white lobster sauce. Question: When did imitation meat become an acceptable substitution for "lobster"? The waitress (poor thing was so patient) asked if I wanted something else from the kitchen but at this point I was too wired to wait any longer to eat. Well, after sampling my dish and putting my massive mood aside, I actually began to enjoy it. It was quite tasty and quickly brought me from savage Neanderthal to a civilized human being. Everything else we ordered was also very good: * EGG ROLLS - We tried both the Chicken and Veggie egg rolls. We enjoyed them so much that we ordered a second round of each. * CRAB RANGOON - Crispy with nice flavor. Perfect stuffing to dough ratio. * SESAME CHICKEN - Our kids cleaned their plates if that says anything. * SHRIMP FRIED RICE - What I appreciated most was that nothing was dry about this dish. The rice was perfectly cooked and the shrimp, egg & veggies weren't overdone. * VEGGIE STIR FRY - My hard to please wife inhaled this like a Dyson vacuum. Not sure if it was THAT good or if I just took too long to feed her! LOL THE VERDICT Lots of claims this place is the best Chinese food in Albany, including a sign on the front window. I don't know about that, but we did enjoy our meal here and the brown sauce they offer as a condiment makes just about anything taste fantastic. Be sure to get a bowl of it for dipping.

Loved the taste, portions, price, friendly staff and cleanliness of the restaurant. My kids and I had the: House Special Fried Rice (Shrimp, beef, chicken roast port), Kung Pao Shrimp & Scallops and the Four Seasons Sizzling Platter (shrimp, chicken, beef, mushroom, water chestnuts, carrots, baby corn, snow peas and bokchoy)... All were delicious! Lunch is served Monday - Saturday from 11am to 3pm. All lunches served with egg roll, fried rice and choice of soup (egg drop, won ton or hot & sour). There is a note that on take out orders there will be a $1.00 extra charge. The lunch menu starts from $5.29 to $5.99. If you order from the dinner menu prices start from $7.99 to $15.99! They have a wide selection of dishes to choose from and I am sure you'll find a Chinese dish that will fill up your craving of the moment.

Thanks to the other yelp reviews I gave this one a try. Little worried about the lack of patron but yelp has good ratings so powered on in. Glad I did! Started with a spring roll and hot and sour soup. The soup was excellent, just as it should be. The spring roll was crispy and light, again just as expected. 2 for 2 so far. The Main meal was garlic beef, not spicy at all but very good. Had plenty to eat and should have kept half for lunch tomorrow but I am traveling so I of course ate it all . Definitely a keeper for future visits to Albany.

Hong Kong Cafe is no longer open. I hear that it is permanently closed. Not surprising since the food and service were both terrible.

Foods good. Flavorful and well presented. The only gripe? You get so much food! They are polite and seem glad that you're there.

Food is good, possibly the best Chinese in Albany (tried the Kung Pao and Spicy Chicken, both were good). The service? Meh.

Having evacuated to Albany to escape Milton's path my cousin and her husband treated my husband and…read moreI, and our neighbor, to dinner at this restaurant. I think she wanted something to take my mind off the impending storm. This did the trick. For me, being able to watch the chef make my meal was just as good, if not better, than the meal. This was my first hibachi experience and I would have to say it was a good one. My friend and I started with an order of sushi. We got the deep fried crab delight roll. It was very good. My husband and my neighbor both got the Sukiyaki steak dinner. It came with soup, salad, and fried rice. I got a side of scallops and had a few bites of my husband's rice. The rice was good, but the scallops were a little over cooked, at least in my opinion. My husband really enjoyed his meal, as did my friend. Our chef was fun to watch and he was, well, fun! While I have no plans to be in the area again (at least not for the reason I was there this time) I would eat here again.

Sat in an 80° room for an hour and a half with no service beyond soup and salad. When we finally…read moreleft, instead of an apology we were told to "be patient." Unbelievable. Save yourself the sweat and frustration: 1. Leave Mikata's parking lot. 2. Turn left on Dawson Road. 3. Drive 2 minutes to Tokyo Japanese Steakhouse. 4. Actually enjoy good food and service. Skip Mikata -- Tokyo is the better choice every time.
