Food is decent compared to others in the area. The first time I ordered I received things I didn't order and another time I didn't receive my complete order. I just think it was the heavy accent of the person that picked up when placing my order, plus I didn't ask to read my order back. I've tried using there online site: www.hongkongbartow.com/ and I've been getting error messages. However, after placing my order today I went back and tried it again and it finally let me create an account. YaY!!! I'm just waiting for hubby to bring the food and I'll let you know how the food turned out. Well, the food was great and delicious, however, it's a pretty penny for it. I'm not sure if the prices are high because the last few years everything has sky rocketed. Even though they're expensive, the other Chinese restaurants around here sick. I don't generally like Chinese but I tried this place because I was sick of eating Subway. I ordered the honey garlic chicken. The fried rice that came along was below average and the vegetables in the dish looked quite old. The mushrooms looked like they were either canned or cut sometime ago. The chicken was low quality being papery and thin and had a bad aftertaste. I am guessing they just quickly mixed the chicken with the sauce when ordered because the chicken had no real flavor aside from the aftertaste. We ordered beef and brocolli, got home and there was no beef, no brocolli only rice and onions. We called and the Young girl translated for her mother who insisted that we were wrong. We ordered again, got home and there was only rice and pork fried lomein noodles. I called them back explained it again and told them I would come the next day to show them this time she was wrong. On the phone they insisted we were lying. When I got there, the little girl gave me back $9 because her mom told her too and I paid 9.26. I left the store got in my car and I was backing out the little girl tapped on my window because her mother sent her in the parking lot to ask where the egg rolls were. I told her that's part of the problem because your mother messed up the order we never got our beef and broccoli or the 2 egg rolls That were supposed to come with it. The little girl went back inside and I watched her mother yell at her. Are their child labor laws? How can a six-year-old run a cash register at a Chinese restaurant legally anyway? Let's just say a child should not be working like they work the children up their. Maybe if the mom wasn't so rude she wouldn have these problems. read more

If you think this place is at all decent you have some very low expectations for food. The inside of this place looks like a health code violation waiting to happen. Everything from the order counter to the tables to the restroom is coated in a film of grease and dirt. The place looks like it's never been cleaned, ever. I'm actually amazed the place has been open as long as it has. The drop ceiling in the kitchen area looks like it could give way at any minute. The lady that takes the orders looks like she just woke up from a coma and the food is straight up sketchy. The sauces have a weird taste. The vegetables look old and wilted like they've been sitting around unrefrigerated and I once actually got a piece of the cleaning brush they use to clean the wok in my food. It's a shame because bartow could really use a decent Chinese food restaurant. Sorry if this review seems harsh but honestly if your business is preparing and serving food to the public at least be good at it. The food is decent. The problem is - I've gotten shortchanged, overcharged (more than once) and most recently received an item packaged as a combo when I ordered the small portion. So, they charge for the entre item then package it as a combo - less food for the price. And, I know it wasn't an error because the item I ordered is not offered as a combo; also, the person who ordered right before me had the exact same complaint when he received his order. I'll find another place for chinese from now on because I don't like feeling cheated. If things like this happen once - an error. If they happen repeatedly - I feel it's a deliberate scam. read more

Hands down the WORST restaurant in Bartow. Actually, include Lakeland in that. I ordered lunch from there. Simple order of plain lomein and crab rangoons. First off, 15 dollars for this. Exceedingly over priced, especially considering what I got. When I got my food, as I opened the lomein the girls in my office started commenting on the smell of garlic. I tasted it and it was more like garlic with a bit of noodles in it. Then I tried the rangoons, and nothing was right about them. They were overccoked, small and tasted like they had been cooked in old oil. I also had an officemate try it and she was likewise disgusted. I called to see if they would do something about it, and after passing the phone around from person to person and admitting that THEY COOK EVERYTHING IN THE SAME OIL, they hung up on me. I gave them the benefit of the doubt and called back, I barely finished my sentence and she hung up on me again. I tried a third time and she hung up on me AGAIN, Then, I went into the restaurant in person. The lady proceeded to yell at me that in order to get my money back I had to bring her food from somewhere else! Then went back to the back and started yelling in Chinese and refuse to come back out! I would say that this is the worst customer service that I have ever received but this wasn't even customer service. This was blatantly rude and disrespectful and I advise not going here. read more
