The only reason I'm updating is to add pictures. For some reason, my pics didn't upload the first time. Everything else remains the same a year later. The only thing I might change is the packets of soy sauce. I do prefer the bottles. But I really do think that's a preference because some people might prefer packets for the cleanliness aspect. Bottles have more germs (ha). A year later, it's still great hole in the wall (my favorite kind)!

Best Chinese in Dawsonville. I'm not great at elaborating details. I just love great food. They're always on point. Go, trust me.

Akami Sushi & Grill was a really pleasant surprise in Dawsonville. I honestly did not expect to…read morefind a sushi spot this good on the north side of Atlanta, but this place absolutely delivered. First off, full transparency: I am NOT some sushi expert. I'm not going to pretend I can break down every fish and technique like a professional critic. What I can tell you is simple -- I grabbed sushi, put it in my mouth, and it was yummy yummy in my tum-tum. That's my expert analysis. But seriously, the sushi was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. You really do eat with your eyes first, and everything coming out of the kitchen looked excellent. The rolls looked clean, colorful, and well made without being overloaded. Add in the soy sauce, wasabi, yum-yum sauce, and the whole experience just worked. The gyoza was an excellent starter. Nice crisp on the bottom, soft on top, and the sauce paired with it really well. We also tried the Beef Tataki. Flavor-wise, it was good, but I do wish the beef had been a little more tender. Personally, I'd probably skip that dish next time, but honestly this is a sushi restaurant, so I'm not going to hold one beef appetizer against them when everything else was very strong. The chicken tonkatsu with fried rice was excellent. Super crispy breading, juicy chicken, and the sauce on top tied everything together really well. Next time I actually want to try the pork cutlet because they clearly know how to fry food properly. Service was A+. Spencer took care of us and was a gentleman from beginning to end. Friendly, attentive, and made the whole experience even better. The inside of the restaurant deserves its own paragraph because they did an AMAZING job with the design. It's modern, spacious, clean, and honestly feels much more upscale than you'd expect in Dawsonville. The booths and tables are roomy, we never felt cramped, and the whole atmosphere makes it feel like a great date-night spot or somewhere you can actually relax and enjoy dinner. Pricing varies depending on the sushi rolls. Some are around $13 while others go into the $15-17 range depending on what you order, which honestly feels pretty normal for quality sushi these days. Also, one final important detail: When you leave, grab one of those little guava candies by the entrance. I'm telling you right now, those things are ridiculously good. Plenty of parking too since it's right there by the North Georgia Premium Outlets area. Overall, very happy with this place and definitely one of the better surprises I've had in Dawsonville in a long time. We'll absolutely be back. And yes... all of this was enjoyed properly with a Coke Zero because they are a Coca-Cola spot. I have to remember to take photos of the inside during my next visit. I ordered the chicken Yaki Lo Mein with onions and it was good. The next day, I ordered the Lovely Roll and chicken fried rice with onions. Everything was tasty, my only complaints are, I wish they hadn't put the sushi rolls in the same bag as the fried rice. The rolls were warm and by the time I got home the seaweed was really chewy so I had to remove it. It would be nice if they had a spicy fried rice option as well, like the Japanese restaurant I always went to before finding them. I highly recommend this establish and glad it's in Dawsonville.

Seated immediately a hand hibachi table. Our waitress Aku was incredible. She was polite, repeated our orders. Make sure our orders were correct. Keam came and checked in on us with a smile. Now our hibachi chef (TJ) was Incredible. He was funny entertaining was so sweet to the kids at the table and cooked my steak and lobster to perfection. This has to be the most amazing fried rice I have ever had and the vegetables were fresh and large pieces and delicious. They were even amazing the next day when I had the leftovers. My son had the volcano roll absolutely delicious 16 pieces of fresh sushi. This location was the one all the way in Dawsonville and I believe it's worth the trip to come back here again, close to the premium outlets.

Our party arrived at 9:12 PM, nearly an hour before their posted 10:00 PM closing time. Before we were even seated, we were told that if we didn't place our order within five minutes, we would not be served. We hadn't sat down, hadn't seen a menu, and hadn't been greeted properly yet we were immediately met with pressure and dismissiveness. This is not a staffing issue this is a management issue. Properly run restaurants do not treat paying customers like an inconvenience simply because the staff wants to close early. If your kitchen closes before your posted hours, that needs to be clearly communicated and enforced professionally not thrown at guests in a rushed, borderline hostile manner. What's most concerning is that this behavior felt normalized, as if management has allowed or even encouraged staff to operate this way. That speaks volumes about the leadership and standards of this establishment. First impressions matter, and this one ensured I will never return. I would strongly caution others to reconsider before dining here, especially if you expect to be treated with basic courtesy and respect. Ownership should take a hard look at how this restaurant is being managed, because experiences like this don't just lose one customer they damage the reputation of the entire
