My experience at Volcano was so unprofessional and off-putting that it reflects a serious failure in management not just a bad night. Our party arrived at 9:12 PM, nearly an hour before their posted 10:00 PM closing time. Before we were even seated, we were told that if we didn't place our order within five minutes, we would not be served. We hadn't sat down, hadn't seen a menu, and hadn't been greeted properly yet we were immediately met with pressure and dismissiveness. This is not a staffing issue this is a management issue. Properly run restaurants do not treat paying customers like an inconvenience simply because the staff wants to close early. If your kitchen closes before your posted hours, that needs to be clearly communicated and enforced professionally not thrown at guests in a rushed, borderline hostile manner. What's most concerning is that this behavior felt normalized, as if management has allowed or even encouraged staff to operate this way. That speaks volumes about the leadership and standards of this establishment. First impressions matter, and this one ensured I will never return. I would strongly caution others to reconsider before dining here, especially if you expect to be treated with basic courtesy and respect. What an incredible experience!!! absolutely amazing restaurant at the moment you walked in you agreed with happy welcoming smile from the hostess. Seated immediately a hand hibachi table. Our waitress Aku was incredible. She was polite, repeated our orders. Make sure our orders were correct. Keam came and checked in on us with a smile. Now our hibachi chef (TJ) was Incredible. He was funny entertaining was so sweet to the kids at the table and cooked my steak and lobster to perfection. This has to be the most amazing fried rice I have ever had and the vegetables were fresh and large pieces and delicious. They were even amazing the next day when I had the leftovers. My son had the volcano roll absolutely delicious 16 pieces of fresh sushi. This location was the one all the way in Dawsonville and I believe it's worth the trip to come back here again, close to the premium outlets. read more

I wish the food was as great as the decoration. Besides a long hair in the hibachi, and the ribeye needing seasoning it was good, the second time they brought it. Ok the fried rice was as a bit bland too and only had a few pieces of egg in it. Veggies were fine. Then on to the soup- incredible, the waiter brought it fast and every soup had exactly 2 mushroom slices and one noodle in it. As for the sushi, can't say there was too much rice. Rice layer one grain thick on parts of it. Shrimp tempura, more like tempura. I think we had famine shrimp they were so thin. Also the rice seemed to be plain white rice. Real California roll - glad it had masago on it because otherwise uneventful as well. Lots of drum beating here so probably a lot of birthdays. Love trying new places so stopped by here with some family. I love the outside. Such a unique fountain. A few of us ordered the Ladybug roll and it was delicious. They do seem to have a lot of spicy rolls so I do wish there was more variety of not spicy rolls that are unique. Service could improve too. All of us that ordered sweet tea received unsweetened tea. Service felt rushed. The enclosed patio area is very cramped with seating and the flies were an issue. Willing to try it again but they do need a little work. read more

The staff was preparing up until the last minute and were ready to welcome in their first official guests!! Smiles greeted us and sat us at our hibachi table. Things were smooth throughout our service. There were a few hiccups with our table that made it take a little longer than expected to reach the cooking temperature. But our chef kept us entertained!! Once the food started things went smoothly as well. The food was worth the wait. Fresh and delicious are how I would describe it. It's a Saturday, so of course they had college football on the TVs. I decided to visit this establishment on a Tuesday night with my soon to be wife, I'm currently typing this as I'm eating here. So far service has been really great. The ambience is amazing and our starters have been pretty good. Things that I noticed that are good and always a good sign is service has been very good so far and the appetizers have been pushed out at a pretty good rate. We both got combos and then I got a sushi roll to try . A note though, the soup and salad are actually very good, I would say better than the competition in surrounding area. The sushi roll I got , I believe it was the dragon roll, was amazing , made perfectly , and not too much wait time! The combos were delicious and our wait time was not bad at all. Overall, a great experience along with great food and great service. I recommend this to anyone going on a date or having an anniversary or even a birthday celebration. First time at volcano was a true joy! I went with my family and we had such an amazing time! The ambience is very lively and vibrant perfect for a fun night! The service was amazing! They came to check on us a lot and then our cook was fantastic! He was hilarious and we truly hadn't laughed that much in a while! Got takeout for lunch today, two basic chicken hibachi meals. The price was nearly $60 with no addons or drinks. The service at pickup was good enough, although I noticed they charged a "convenience fee" which means my normal custom of leaving a tip even when picking up didn't happen. The food wasn't bad, wasn't great. The chicken tasted effectively unseasoned, maybe a little of the sauce on it. The vegetables were well cooked, but again, lacked the pop you'd expect. This was my first time at this place, and it was really nice. The decor was interesting, a little over-the-top, but in a whimsical way I actually enjoyed. The TV screens over the bar were huge, like mythically huge. I plan to go back at some point to try the sushi, but at the price of this place, I'm not sure when that will be. This restaurant is pretty cool and has great lights for the holidays. The food was like any normal hibachi place and the sushi was just ok. My biggest problem was that the prices are outrageous. Our typical pricing for 4 people at hibachi with sushi is just over $100 with too but here it was $220. Nice experience to visit once but not sure we will go back with those prices. read more

A history in the making as we came across a beautifully decorated building. Volcano Steak and Sushi first day of trial and tribulations as this restaurant opens its door for patrons to see the amazing insides and decor. A soft opening like no other as we see staff doing their best to tend to hungry foodies either at the Hibachi or at a booth. We (4) opted to see and order from the colorful lunch menu. Diana was our attendant and as all new personnel had too make sure to confirm our questions regarding the menu as well as vegan-friendly preparation. We ordered a lot of food and the first item of a spicy salmon roll was brought to our booth by no other than a robot... the robot only came to our table once during dining. But it was fun to watch a loud Japanese style drummer beats to that birthday song we all know at an adjacent booth. And, it was also fun to watch the serving robot as it scurried to and fro and staff making sure not to have any accidents. First day jitters for sure that we sensed when another staff brought appetizers meant for another table and soups got swapped as well as rice orders got mixed and our garlic edamame appetizer came after all our entrees. Seaweed salad and a side of cubed lightly fried tofu was however a good start. Salmon Nigiri was fresh but the Tempura appetizer medley with shrimp dipping sauce lacked that punch to overcome the batter on veggies and the panko on the shrimp. The Bento chicken box was a good meal with soup and salad and a $2.50 upgrade to fried rice. Presentation of this bento box was perhaps a little sloppy as the rice was sort of hanging to the edge of the box. The chicken was over cooked and served on way too much grilled onion. I am told that the Rib steak ordered rare was a well made flavorful steak. Thanks to Diana as she elevated our experience and checked on the availability of the Mochi Icecream flavors. We ordered vanilla and mango...perfect to get the now garlic edamame off our palates. Volcano Steak and Sushi will certainly learn from this first day experience and we went along for the historical ride. read more

This review is for Volcano's raw fish experience & not its hibachi. Dropped in for a quick lunch on a Monday for my first time. My partner & I were excited to finally try the place. This is Another big footprint operation that's put a lot of thought in the decor; think très industrial chic. Several eating areas: sushi bar, booths & hibachi. Hibachi area had traffic but regular dining was experiencing a slow lunch. Service pleasant enough & we ordered a couple of simple rolls & 2 pieces of yellowtail sushi. When we finally got our meals, we found that the fish on rice was mushy & tasteless. My 'real' California roll had the littlest amount of real crab in it, rice to protein ratio maybe 10:1. No taste other than the obnoxious amount of fish roe that was leaning towards being past its prime. I will not recommend Volcano for any rolls, sushi or sashimi that contains raw proteins. The friendly service at Volcano warrants it an additional half-star. We wish Volcano much luck but we won't be back for the sushi; maybe we will try Hibachi with a group as it's hard to mess that up as hibachi requires all raw ingredients in view of the diners before the experience begins. read more

We have a favorite go to place for sushi that I was comparing this place to. The salad with the ginger dressing was top notch and the miso soup was very good, these beat our favorite sushi place. We ordered 6 rolls that we felt was compatible to the ones we get at our go to joint. These rolls seem to lack flavor and was rolled looser than we are used to. At this point, it's a tie with the other place. We will return to try all of the starters and the hibachi grill items. read more
