For Hibachi compared to the others, the food was good and the customer service was very good. The manager hostess was very sweet and welcoming. I will go back when I want some Hibachi. The only constructive criticism for the owner is the music being played (as in many places that overlook this issue) is being played for the the employees instead of the customers. Listening to Def Leopard type music with screaming guitars is not the best thing for getting customers in a relaxed environment to sit down, enjoy food, and have conversation. The wrong music kills the vibe and experience. Music is a big part of a dining experience. Music should fit the restaurant. Even if they didn't want music with an oriental flare, some smooth Jazz would be a better option than hyper music belonging in a bar environment. read more

The service here is absolutely horrible!! The servers here have no regard of time and respect. They are all very snappy. The food came out cold and did not taste good whatsoever. Overall I had a really great dining experience. My waitress was Destiny or Desi and was extremely sweet and ontop of it. Before I could ask for anything it was refilled or given. I give the interior decor a solid 6/10 typical Asian themed but not very modern or well lit. The bathrooms were clean when I went. The food however I didn't get the hibachi I got the sushi and it was amazing. 9/10 in freshness and taste. However the downfall was the gyoza. They said it would be friend however it was deep fried to a crisp. Not like pan seared or fried and the sauce it sat in made it mushy. I'd totally stop deep flying gyoza and look at steaming or pan searing. Overall id come back again though to try their hibachi. read more

I've only ever ordered from the menu (no hibachi) and have enjoyed all of my experiences! Lunch specials are great since they include miso soup and salad (get the ginger dressing). There are some sushi lunch combos as well as sushi and sashimi combos. All solid and filling. Oh and $2 large hot sake. A sushi-riffic steal. read more

Oh yes, the ol' throw the eggs at the guests at the hibachi grill routine. The show was the classic 15 minutes of entertainment while you watch your food go from raw to cooked and plated, and they do a really good job of it. The food was excellent, the entertainment was classic hibachi, and the service was top notch. I do have to give these folks a kudos for doing the right thing as well. My 6 year old daughter took some food shrapnel to the eye during the show, and they comped her meal. She was basically unharmed, but I really appreciate that kind of exceptional customer service. My wife and I were invited out to dinner with a group of friends who were all going to enjoy the Hibachi Grill at Osaka. Besides being a very pleasant evening out with great people we were impressed at the service and food at Osaka Steak and Sushi. This establishment sits in a shopping center off Georgia 400 and is not visible from the highway so we did not know it existed. However, from the crowds on a Friday night, many others were familiar with this place. Despite being crowded the seating moved pretty quickly around one of the traditional Hibachi grills. Our server was very friendly and at our grill almost immediately. She took our drink order and then returned to take our dinner orders. Our Hibachi Chef followed quickly and began to prepare our orders confirming our order and how we wanted items cooked such as our steak. My wife ordered her meal cooked dairy free with no butter due to a food allergy and her request was accommodated. I ordered the Steak and Sea Scallop meal with vegetables and everything was cooked to perfection. The chef's put on a show at each table and our chef did a great job in entertaining the table. I think my scallops were some of the best I have had, fresh and cooked to perfection. We finished our meal and were provided with takeout boxes to bring home leftovers and our checks were settled. Overall this was a great experience and we want to return to try their bento box meals for lunch sometime soon. The cost was on average with other Japanese Steakhouses we have been to. read more

I appreciate that because although I don't drink the water I like to have it in case of choking. I hate asking for water that I know I likely won't drink. This pains me to write because I have been a customer for over 12 years and I have rarely had a bad food experience and used to recommend to all my friends, BUT the service and attention to detail is now an unmitigated disaster. I wanted to review this place because it's more than a sushi or steak house. Most of the pictures are sushi. So I wanted readers to know that they serve a little more than sushi or hibachi. They have bento boxes with teriyaki dishes, too. It was pretty good, nothing special. But nothing to complain about. We all enjoyed our meals. I ordered a bento box and I was pleased. Instead of rice, I ordered broccoli (for an up charge). I was a little shocked at how much they charged for replacing the rice with a veggie, but I dealt with it. I won't do that again because it was so filling that I didn't even finish my broccoli. The server was a sweetheart and completely accommodating! Kudos to her! It was the food that we were not wowed by. We got a sushi roll that was decent, wish I remembered the name but it had eel in it. I had the shrimp and filet entree and both meats were tough. The soup tasted like water. The price points were decent for Japanese food. And both of us were having stomach issues within a couple hours of eating here. read more

As an experienced waiter whose worked in high volume restaurants, events, catered to major groups, and worked in the battery of Atlanta for a few baseball seasons including the World Series says a lot that I found so much wrong with how this place treated my significant other and myself! I always give the benefit of the doubt to servers because they do work hard for small pay but man after a certain point I was just ready to go. Not going to lie I would give this place 0 stars if I could and here are the reasons why. My s/o and I went to this place because she has been before and remembered it was really good. Anyways we were sat and went over the menu and knew what we wanted. (Will # everything that went wrong from here on out. 1. We were sat at around 6:15 and waited 18 minutes @ 6:33 before my s/o went to the host stand to ask if we can please get served 2. Finally a server came but it was a server who has walked past our table a minimum of 5 times and we saw talking in casual with the hostess 3. We finally gave the order and asked with southern hospitality can we please get the sushi before our hibachi entrees if it's possible. She said okay can do that. After time went by a few minutes we reasoned to double check if she put the sushi in first since the way she responded through the order she could've not heard us. 4. We ordered waters and for the duration of sitting at the table (90 mins) we were never given a refill or even asked if we wanted another beverage even though we did end up asking for a refill 5. Our hibachi came out before the sushi which we didn't get till half an hour after our original order in which we never saw our waitress since we checked with her to make sure about the sushi being first 6. A different waitress brought out our food and the chicken hibachi was okay but the steak was cold and could tell the food was sitting in the window for who knows 7. Had to wave down a different server to send it back because we never saw our server and he said they will make a new one 8. Had to stop the waitress who finally walked past the table about the sushi and she said "I swear I put it in first" and went to go look. She came back with it and gave it to us with no chopsticks or soy sauce. As well the sushi was as soft you can imagine since we put it in at around 6:40 and didn't get it till 7:30. She had just forgot to ever go and get it. 9. The steak hibachi came back and it was the same plate just reheated 10. Still thirsty 11. Had to get up and go to the server station to get own chopsticks 12. Just overall neglect by the FOH staff 13. After getting the check and it's time to tip the server finally apologized but only for the wait of the food and nothing else It's obvious this place doesn't care about the customers, it's service, and quality of food and is okay with charging over price and taking your money for a lousy experience. This place definitely doesn't deserve the 3 star overall and needs new management/ownership! read more

This review is only regarding the sushi, not the hibachi. My wife and I love this place. We love great sushi, and Osaka has the most consistent quality of anyone in the area. There is a larger more expensive sushi joint up the road, but we prefer Osaka due to the price point and the consistently high quality of the fish, and that other place doesn't even come close, even though their prices are higher. The head sushi chef is very knowledgeable and is always happy to offer some fun info about what we're ordering, and he's incredibly skilled. We always sit at the sushi bar, as that's the correct place to sit when two people are ordering only sushi. The hot Sake is almost decent, but what it lacks in quality they make up for with a low price point. If the fish matters to you more than the Sake list, you're golden. Don't get me wrong. It's not a Michelin Star sushi joint, but for what's available in the area you can't beat it. read more

An affordable alternative to Kani House! It's less formal and smaller, but the food is much better! Many single hibachi choices (chicken, steak, shrimp) are priced from $10-$13. Combination hibachi choices are a bit higher. You still get the entertainment factor and the chefs are just as skilled at cooking in front of you. The food was so delicious that no one in my party had an leftovers!! I tried the salmon hibachi and it was cooked to perfection. The chef added a teriyaki glaze at the end that was very tasty. Everyone wanted a bite of mine. The only reason I'm not rating this restaurant five stars is that our waitress seemed to be either very busy or just not attentive. We decided to go eat somewhere that we never get to eat because it's just gotten too expensive for what we make and have. Everything was going okay and then I noticed that there was only zucchini and onions that they had cooking. I didn't specifically order only those veggies, I ordered all of them, so I mentioned something to our waitress. The people across from us had ordered only the zucchini and onions and they had forgotten my order of veggies. Then I went to mix the yum yum sauce in with fried rice I noticed a short black hair in my food . Neither one of us had short black hair, we have longer brown hair. I was a bit irritated at this point and upset that I would be paying $40 for two people and nothing lived up to what it used to be. We were given this check in the picture and after all of that and what little money I make as it is being in college, I felt awful not leaving a tip but I didn't feel as if I should. When the waitress came by cleaning up around us while I was still eating, she grabbed up all of the checks looking at them as she took them up and looked me dead in the eyes and told me "no tip?" I already felt bad and I told her why I didn't but she blamed it all on the cook and that I shouldn't be giving her no tip for what the cook had done. When you choose a job you shouldn't only rely on the tips as your income. As a waiter or waitress the tips are supposed to be acting as "bonuses" not your main pay. You never know what people have went through that day, how their living situation is, or what their income is. A waiter or waitress should be serving people as they would want to be served and not just because they have to, and want to get tips. Tips should not be the only reason they give good service. I'm sorry I didn't give a tip, but don't confront someone about it or show it off to the coworker that was right at the other side of the table giving out checks to a different group, which my waitress did as she walked away after confronting me about her "no tip". It's upsetting, and it did upset me leaving the restaurant, that that's all that people care about now. If you don't make enough money where you are at in your job confront your management and ask if there is anyway you could make more money or go find a better paying job rather than stay where you might not be making exactly what you want. read more

A hidden gem really! Ive been eating at Osaka in Dawsonville since day 1. The whole family has suffered through bad servers over the years, but the management will always make it right! The quality of food has never wavered and they always cater to our picky food Preferences! NO ONIONS, please. Rock shrimp the Benton box and the boat for one, no matter what you order. I was really surprised to see poor reviews on here. I've been twice and had great experiences both times. I am a big fan of sushi, and I've eaten at Kani House and others, and this sushi was right on par with what I expected, the exception being the price. They do a deal on Sundays for 30% off, which was an excellent bargain in my opinion. I ordered four rolls ( I was famished! ) and they were all prepared wonderfully. I only omitted one star because I haven't tried the Habachi, but my roommate did and said it was standard. read more
