The dining are is small and dated but most of their business is take-out so it doesn't really matter. as to one of the other posts, i've never seen workers "hanging out" in the dining area. place is normally pretty steady with customers coming in and out. Recently moved to Calvert County and wanted Chinese. Decided to look at reviews and wanted to try this place out as the reviews seemed decent. NEVER AGAIN!! Ordered General Tso Dinner combination and upon getting home noticed it looked as though it was coated in red barbecue sauce. Not the normal color but I'll give it a shot. Nope. Flavor was off and even the rice which was looked great was bland. Decided to try the egg roll and was surprised that it was at least decent; still different as it was only cabbage and a few small pieces of shrimp, but was definitely the best part of the meal!! read more

This is our go-to classic Chinese American take out place. The dining room is dated, but since Covid they have focused mostly on take out it seems. Everything we've ordered from here is excellent, and we can usually get 1.5 to 2 meals out of ordering two entrees. At times it can be a bit of a wait during rush times. I've never had problems with ordering online. They are closed Monday which has caught me out a couple of times but they deserve a break! read more

It was so bad... I got the chicken hunan style. The chicken tasted very old and reheated... and the seasoning was very bland. I even asked to make it extra spicy and it wasn't the slightest bit spicy. This was my 2nd time trying little panda... and both times have been awful. I don't recommend this place at all. read more

This experience was a mediocrity roller coaster. The good. I got a general tsos chicken/shrimp and vegetable combo, it was excellent. The mediocre: wife got cashew chicken and a mu shu as backup. Both were edible, not the worst, not the best. We also got a mixed appetizer. Bacon wrapped chicken was just plain weird - I never thought I'd say this - remove the bacon to make it right. The chicken actually had good Asian bbq flavor. The bad. We ordered sweet and sour chicken. They didn't mess up the chicken (which is quite hard to do) but the sauce was inedible. Almost like a can of sugar and pineapple juice was dyed red. It was nasty. The fried rice - undoubtedly the WORST I've ever had. Barely Edible. Zero flavor. Almost like they took rice, slapped it on the grill with a splash of soy, no sesame oil, no other seasoning, no vegetables, and the smallest amount of egg you can find. Egg rolls. First bite into one had a mini shrimp. My first instinct was that this was their norm. After continuing I noted it was the standard cabbage egg roll with no more shrimp. End result - their contamination protocol is unsatisfactory in my opinion. Being from New England, you know a good Americanized Chinese place by the sauces. If the mustard and duck sauce are hand packed, they are made in house and good. Here, like most, it was packages of flavorless sauce. I don't know if I'll be back. If I go back I'll update this review accordingly but as of now they have me willing to drive to another town. read more

I can only speak for this restaurant as a take-out patron. I have never dined-in at this place and I don't plan to in the future. It's a great establishment for getting quick Chinese take-out. The setup is basic and the menu is full of traditional Chinese entrees and sides with a multitude of combination dinners. I usually call in my order from home (no issues here). I leave my house immediately to make the 10 minute drive, and by time I get there, my food is always sitting there ready for me. I couldn't ask for faster or more efficient service. In my opinion, the food itself is very good by Chinese take-out standards. I usually get the chicken fried rice or sweet and sour chicken. If I get sweet and sour chicken, it's usually a combination platter that comes with white or fried rice, an egg roll, and a canned soda - really good deal considering all of that only costs $8. My wife likes to get a vegetable entree in brown sauce when I get the combination platter. This allows us to share our meals and enjoy every item (save some coin), and still have left-overs. Two combination platters would be way too much food for us. I find this meal to be of great value since it feeds us both with some leftovers for about $13. If you live in northern Calvert County, this is the place to go for fast, tasty, fulfilling, and reasonably priced Chinese food. read more

I don't get take-out all that often, but when I do, I'll frequently go to Little Panda. Everything's clean, the staff are friendly, and the food is pretty darn good, for the value. You have all the standard dishes found in American chinese restaurants, and it usually scratches the itch. I love their fried bean curd and garlic sauce. It comes with a variety of good vegetables, including bright green and crunchy broccoli and snow peas, as well as the standby bean sprouts, water chestnuts, crinkle cut carrots, and rice on the side. I've had their orange flavored chicken a handful of times, and this is on the other hand, nothing to write home about. I remember it being fried and slightly sweet but no clear memory of the orange or spice. The comment of them saying it'll be ready in 15 minutes is always true, and it being ready in under 10 is also always true. If you're shopping at Roland's and need to grab something for dinner, Little Panda can't be beat! read more

This place is close to the place we're staying, so we stopped by. They serve drinks out of soda cans...really? Get a machine...geeze. Our waitress was also fairly confused. She brought us someone else's drinks...when she had already brought us our drinks...we were only one of two couples in there. The food was alright...the chicken fried rice was a little greasy. My boyfriend's chicken was undercooked in his dish. The wonton soup was good, as well as the egg drop soup. I would've like to have seen some veggies in the soups, though. I ordered food today and got it delivered by door dash (which was quicker then expected) The food was still nice and hot. I got the fried dumplings (they didn't taste the best) I usually love dumplings and eat them first but these ones were just way too salty and didn't taste RIGHT?? I also got the won ton soup, it also was way too salty and also had an off taste, the white rice though was cooked well nice and sticky, I also ordered chicken moo shu, I thought it was funny that they straight up gave me the whole bag of the wraps, the chicken was also slimy and didn't seem like chicken....... IDK from the bag of wraps it looks like they don't make things fresh.. disappointing.. Probably wont come here again. read more

I have eaten here before as both someone who takes out and eats in the restaurant. There food is really wonderful and good to eat. When you order take out they say it will be typically 10 to 15 minutes. I do not think I have had an order take longer than 15 minutes and that is on a busy night. The food itself is really good, I typically get the General Tso Chicken and the Chicken Fried Rice. The General Tso's is covered in sauce, which is how it should be, and just enough veggies to keep your interest but nothing too much. The food when you eat there is so good that I typically want to save some for later but I always end up eating it. You can't go wrong with this place. read more

This was by far my favorite Chinese food place when I lived in Calvert County, whether ordering take-out or having a sit-down meal. The staff is friendly and attentive, the food is good quality and tastes fresh, unlike many other places where it's obvious they reheat their food from a freezer. My only complaint is occasionally I'd go in and see the owner's children running around the dining area. Went on Wed night. The air was not on so it was hot and dark inside. The bathroom was filthy as was the carpet in general. The hall to walk to the bathroom had dish basins filled with old dirty plates with the food caked on (looked like they had been there for hours). The food left much to be desired. The General Tso's chicken was tough and dry. The rice was dry and looked old all around. The egg rolls were not edible. The fortune cookies were ever stale. We tried this place because it came highly suggested here. Those giving high ratings have either not had good Chinese food, don't know how to cook, or don't know quality food, or all of the above. The Lo Mein was quite good though, which is why I gave it 2 stars and not one Don't bother. My rating=pretty disgusting. read more

I liked it. I'm Chinese-american AND I live in NYC, where there's a decent Chinese takeout place virtually on every corner. Little Panda does a decent job with standard Chinese dishes, and the fried dumplings I got were divine. They're a little inconsistent, I suppose depending on who the chef is that day, but that's a minor quibble. I like the fact that they sell a limited stock of Chinese groceries (although I never was able to find five spice powder ANYWHERE in Calvert or St Mary's Counties). I need to respond to Aaryn's review - she apparently has a problem with Little Panda serving canned soda rather than fountain soda. Honestly? That's a stupid reason not to like a place. Many small restaurants serve canned soda, so saying "geez, get a machine" just sound ignorant. So, Aaryn, GEEZ, JUST GO TO PLACES THAT HAVE FOUNTAIN SODAS AND SHUT UP. read more

Standard American Chinese menu. Family run but they don't make truly authentic dishes (even if you ask for them in Mandarin). That said, have had good luck with a few dishes from time to time. Beef with Snow Peas came out very fresh and good, and my mother-in-law (from China) would often get the chicken soup. Other times though they can get in the 'American's will eat anything' mode and pile on really thick sauce trying to cover up uninteresting vegetables. It's hit or miss whether you get a good meal or something that could have come from joe-chinese place in a mall food court. I still order from there from time to time, but wish they'd step out of the 'cheap Chinese food' mode and experiment from time to time with something interesting. read more

Little Panda used to be fresh and wonderful but in recent years the food quality has dropped. Vegetables are now a hit or miss for freshness and all the sauces taste like they been rehashed from 1 base. The addition of red pepper flakes in dishes that never had them before and fishy tasting lo mein make my family want to avoid this restaurant in the future. read more

If you go for take out, don't glance at the place, you'll see how dirty it is. The owner is rude (always a big point with me), and the food is adequate at best. But...if you want Chinese, it's here. There's another Chinese place down the street. you DO NOT eat in there, and it's even worse. But the people working are really , really polite and nice. To sit and have dinner there? Seriously? We finally ordered takeout after a year of living here. I can say I was pleasantly surprised. The food actually exceeded my expectations. The chicken lo mein and kung pao shrimp flavors were spot on. The steam dumplings were fresh and tasted homemade, I highly recommend trying the dumplings.. I especially how it was apparent the kids were helping with the business. Horrible food! The last few times we have ordered food it has been awful. I suggest trying the food before leaving the restaurant. We used to get really good food from the original owners. So I have something to compare it to. Ever since their children took over, their food is awful. I keep thinking they are having an off day as we all do. However, I have been consistantly not happy with the food I have gotten. Our sweet & sour chicken was hard, greasy and overcooked. The sauce seemed watered down.The house fried rice was overcooked, hard, no egg and very little meat. The Teriaki steak on a stick was also overcooked hard and lacked beefy flavor. The donuts were the worst thing - they were brown and greasy. The chicken wings hard and overcooked. It was as though everything I got was refried from an earlier preparation and cooked in old oil. This was not a one time occurance. Maybe it is better at lunch when everyting is hopefully freshly cooked. read more

I have been going to Little Panda for about half of a decade now, and I think that with the culmination of all those years, it is deserving of a five star score. I do not like every dish on the menu, but the ones that I do like I like a lot, so much so that I am a regular there, stopping by at at least once a week. The variety of foods is excellent, from super tasty fried pork dumplings, to a light vegetable fried rice, and soothing egg drop soup; Once you find what you are looking for, you will love it. I live between Dunkirk and Prince Frederick, and yet when I eat out i go out of my way fifteen minutes to go to Little Panda's, because the food is good, the atmosphere is charming, and the people are good to you. The food will be ready in the timeframe the owner says(which is usually around ten to fifteen minutes) 100% of the time. I used to take the food home when I ordered, but when you eat in it is so fresh and hot that I'm willing to dine in, it's well worth it. If you have not eaten here yet, you should really give it a chance. The best items to try are the shrimp fried rice, the chicken katsu, orange chicken, and beef lo mein. read more
