I was a little worried to try my food after reading reviews of this place. Therefore, I had low expectations and didn't think I would enjoy it. Thankfully, I was completely wrong! We thoroughly enjoyed our food and it met that Chinese food craving. We tried the Mongolian beef, sesame chicken, house lo mein, fried rice and cream cheese wontons. The Mongolian beef was a favorite! The sauce was so good! It had a nice beef and garlic flavor with some heat to it. The fried rice had some good taste as well. I didn't notice any egg in it and it had some larger chunks of onion which I liked. The cream cheese puffs were decent- the wonton was a little soggy where the cream cheese was so it sorta lost some of its crunch. The lo mein was pretty good as well! The sesame chicken sauce was pretty disappointing and tasted like sweet and sour sauce. The pieces of chicken itself though were okay - not too hard or soggy. We ordered take out at the counter and it took about 10-15minutes. They don't do dine- in by the looks of the place. Prices were fair and so was service. I stopped at this establishmet looking for some new spots in Bloomington. They just so happened to be holding a soft opening. It was easy to find, ambiance was nice, service was okay, but the food was bland. Nothing to truly rave about. I had to walk around to reach the dining area in which there was no one there to greet customers. Once seated, you place your order on a tablet. I ordered the Chicken lo Mein lunch special and pan fried dumplings. After I bit into the dumplings, I noticed shrimp inside which was not listed on the menu. Glad I wasn't allergic. Food review: The chicken Lo Mein is actually very flavorful as well as the Fried rice. I didn't care too much for the Szechuan chicken. When you compare entrees they all kind of have the same flavor, no big distinction, such as between the hot and spicy chicken and the Szechuan. However, I have not had the orange chicken, which generally can be a popular dish. The first time I got the Hot and Spicy chicken, the flavor was average, but I was dissatisfied with the lack of heat. The next time I ordered it I requested extra spicy, still I was disappointed, it was the same as the last time and lacking heat. I am in a search for the best cheap Chinese in the Twin Cities and Hong Kong Garden was next on my list. Located in Bloomington, I opted for the free delivery via GrubHub to save me the 20 minute drive from where I'm at in the city. As always, I got the General Tso's chicken lunch special ($9 with egg roll), extra spicy. They did not make it extra spicy and just gave me hot chili oil on the side. The egg roll was one of the dinkiest that I have ever seen. The chicken was slightly below average, but not BAD at all. The lone bright spot was the chicken fried rice that they offered with the dish. Overall, it wasn't THE WORST Chinese that I have ever had, but I certainly won't be getting it again. The restaurant delivers itself rather than Grubhub so you can't track your order, but the delivery person is really trying his best! Calls and works to get your food to you quickly. Flavor wise, I like it! The Singapore mei fun comes with beef chicken and shrimp, and I wasn't sure what to expect, but it was delicious! Affordable, classic Chinese take out!!! read more

I ordered food ahead of time for delivery at 6, at 6:15 I still had no food so I called just to make sure my order went through. The person on the phone said it was out for delivery and I should have it momentarily. I still had no food at 6:45, called again and had my call denied twice. The food finally showed up at 7 and was still super hot which tells me I was lied to on the phone at 6:15 when I initially called. My food was not out for delivery at that time or I would have gotten cold food at 7. To top it off the food wasn't even good. The fried rice was super mushy and had a fishy taste to it. I was quoted 30-40min which I was fine with. My order arrived over an hour later. I mentioned this to the driver and he completely dismissed my comment offering no apology or explanation. Not a great start to my first (and last) experience with this restaurant. My order consisted of Sweet and Sour Chicken for the kids Egg Rolls and an order of Chicken Fried Rice. The Sweet and Sour Chicken was soggy and the Fried Rice was bland and only had onions. That means it did not include any peas, carrots or eggs. The Egg Rolls were good, they were crispy and a good size with the typical ingredients. Unfourtunatly not good enough to ever order from them again. My family and I have been frequent visitors to Hong Kong for many many years - this place use to be called Ming Chou Chow Mein for a long time and perhaps 5 years or so ago it was changed to Hong Kong - not sure if owners changed or what. In any event - we have always enjoyed the food here - on first glance it appears as a little hole in the wall place - which it basically is - but the food is very very tasty. We typically get the Chicken Subgum Chow Mein, Pork Fried Rice, Egg Foo Young - and all are very tasty. The prices are very reasonable and it seems to have a good bunch of regulars that visit the place. This is not a place that you'd eat in at - the dining room is very small and you typically only see people using it during lunch hours weekdays. Many asian places just don't appeal to me for your basic chinese food - but this place has been a favorite for 15+ years for our family. read more

Usually have very good and service but as of late the business is going downhill. On a Friday night we ordered our usual Szechwan beef and Szechwan chicken with fried rice, garlic chicken wings sauce on the side, and chicken chowmein . We received no wings but instead garlic chicken, no fried rice but white rice, I had also asked for 10 hot sauce packets for that amount of food and received four. Called back that same evening but the owner was not there. Called back the next day and spoke to the owner who was very defensive with me and stated that he personally put the fried rice and hot sauce packets in the bag plus he also said I had ordered the garlic chicken and not the wings. He wasn't even the one who took the order. We've been long time customers but after this instant and the way the owner treated me and hung up the phone on me I will go elsewhere. I ordered the mixed vegetable and bean curd, as well as the vegetable lo mein. Again, the food was standard and met expectations. My friends said the same about their food. The only downers were some quirks when ordering online. We left a comment about the coupon for four cream cheese wontons with our order of $25 or more. No wontons came with our delivery.
