Garlic chicken

Hole in the wall is what I'd call this place. It's easy to miss, but I would not let that deter you!! It's honestly some of the better Chinese I have had in a while. When I went they were the only place open late enough . Grateful they serve a late crowd. The follow all covid guidelines. There were two staff members working. The man in the back I felt like had been there for a while and watching Him flip, cook and create was something that I think goes unappreciated. You get a lot of food for a little cost! The food was fresh, hot, flavorful and not too heavy/greasy/breaded I got the garlic chicken. SO GOOD.

Well, I will let the picture speak for itself. Takeout dumplings...burnt...and they actually sent me home with them! Nope, never again.

The best American-style, fast-food, Chinese I've had in Minnesota. Living more than 25 years in NYC, I was spoiled by amazing food of every cuisine imaginable, including authentic Chinese food of various regional cuisines, and the American-style fast-food variety. This spot is a gem. Vegetables are fresh, crisp, bright and delicious! Each dish unique from the rest, and the variety of sauces for each dish distinct from the others.

The best kung pao chicken ever. Lots of celery and a nice balanced hot and sour soup.

Standard, good local Chinese. Recommend pick up, not a place where you eat there. You know what you're getting, & they make it quick.

Probably the best Chinese buffet we've been to. They kept the food loaded and hot! We were amazed at the choices.

delicious food, one of the best Chinese food restaurants in the area. Love their chicken, perfect texture- never too chewy like some places.

Great food. Fast, friendly, dependable. We order from here all the time. Wish they'd bring back vegetarian egg rolls.

I have been coming for 25 years when the original owner ( older lady) ran " a super TIGHT" ship…read morebarking orders to staff, racing around full speed with her almost non stop orders especially on weekends. (Loved chatting with her, miss her.) Several times I saw whole HUGE beautifully roasted and decorated entire pigs sold out the door for private parties! EVERYONE came back then from EVERYWHERE! She was " famous" state wide for having the BEST DUCK. She had delicious big bowls of noodle duck soup too! Her roast duck and roast or barbecued pork were New York City Chinatown quality!!!!! ( I grew up & worked in NewYork for 40 years) Sadly she passed away and about 5 years ago I slowly saw the quality portion size cooking process and especially taste/flavor in the seasoning and marinating almost disappear. I wrote about this on my last trip from Florida where I moved 5 years ago. We permanently moved back to MN 1/26 and just returned to House of Wu today. OUTSTANDING.... Perfect Juicy. Just like in her original old days! Yay! Finally. Today the dining room was filled with 10 older and a few younger family and staff- - an EXCELLENT sign that her original recipes and wonderful care and quality of preparation HAVE RETURNED. Thank you. Thank you family.

Easier to call ahead. Back when it was dine in there was barely anyone there. Taste has been consistent for many years. they are not friendly but the food makes up for it. Prices definitely went up but it's still the best deal around. We still order for our holiday parties. Lately we've just been ordering when we crave it. I've always loved how the restaurant actually looks like a house, makes me wonder if anyone is living upstairs.

I reviewed Shuang Cheng previously, and the last time was a bit more than a year ago. In…read morere-reading my reviews, I stand by everything I've said about the excellent consistent quality of the food, the service, and how much I enjoy coming to this restaurant. I truly hope they are around longer than I am. I would hate to find out this was one of the choices no longer available to us. Please read my previous reviews for a more inclusive view; this review focuses only on their lobster. I had previously mentioned that they prices of their lobsters (I love the version with black bean sauce) have gone up tremendously. While true, there seems to have been a subtle change in their pricing strategy. Previously (as of before the pandemic), the lobster was priced by the pound, which is the conventional way of doing it. However, they seem to have two lobster prices. The first one is called "Big Lobster" and they say it's between 2 and 2 and half pounds per lobster. The price of that (as of this review) is $56 dollars, or $28 per pound. That's not really a bad price at all. It's expensive, but reasonable. The other lobster is called "Live Lobster" and is priced $10 less at $46. So the real question is how much does this second version weigh? I ordered the Big Lobster, but they said they were out of it. I asked the weight of the "Live Lobster" but I didn't really get a straight answer, but he seemed to say "about two pounds" which doesn't really make sense because that's the price of the larger, more expensive lobster. But I decided to go for it anyway. As I stated in my last review, I'm guessing this lobster is at least two pounds, based on many years of eating lobster. For this review, I had ChatGPT translate the the Chinese on the menu, thinking it was secret code for "if you can read Chinese, save ten dollars by ordering this version" but AI says the Chinese means "lobster" so if you spoke Chinese, you'd still be mystified. So my recommendation is order the version that is ten dollars cheaper and you may (or may not) be paying $23 a pound. Price aside, I love this version of lobster and it is certainly a better deal than what you would pay at an American style seafood or steak restaurant in the Twin Cities.

It was nice visiting and enjoying some of our previously go-to dishes. The soft shell crab made with golden garlic style was as delicious as I remembered, although at a much higher price now ($44+) for the dish. The seafood soup was a nice start to our meal, would have been even better if they had red vinegar. The mapo tofu and eggplant dishes that we ordered ended up being very similar in taste/sauce/seasoning but still pretty good. The service was pretty fast and the staff was friendly.
