I hit this place up once a year and once a year only and have for the last 7 years. During an annual pilgrimage to Montreal, which is just north of Plattsburgh. Our crew first discovered this place by accident, but now stopping there is just a fun tradition we have, stopping there before we cross the border and hitting the buffet hard. Does it fill a void in our hearts, sure. Do we regret it? Almost immediately. While I'm not a local, given it's location in the town that it's in, it is probably pretty popular, and had to make adjustments to its menu to keep locals coming in. It's a pretty average Chinese buffet, most things are fried and covered with a sauce of some sort and called "Chinese". But if you are going to a buffet, you want quantity over quality. But there's a lot of fried fare and there's enough things that involves bacon, so you're good. Also, if you are hitting up a buffet for outstanding food, well who is the fool in this scenario? They're also pretty loose with the idea of what Chinese food is - fried chicken, a sushi bar (Japanese), carving station, and who knew ham lo-mein was a thing? I used to love this restaurant, however I will not be coming back ever again. Our waitress did not provide us any service besides taking drink orders when we sat down. Our cups were empty the entire time we were eating and our plates were not picked up either. She was also just standing around the whole time not doing anything so I can't even try to sympathize that she might've been busy. Not even half way through our meal the waitress brought us the check instead of refilling our drinks. When we finally paid I didn't leave a tip because it seemed a little ridiculous since we had no service the whole time. The waitress didn't let me leave until I left her a tip. She blocked me from exiting the booth and forced me to leave a tip. I don't know what kind of establishment these people are running but as a former waitress I was totally appalled (this was the second time this has happened as well). If you want a tip you need to work for it and not force people to leave you money!! Totally unethical and rude honestly. Terrible food too, my chicken was completely raw. Disgusting , Food made me sick and gave me diarrhea and stomach problems , wait staff is unprofessional

I have been a devoted customer of Hong Kong Jade Buffet for as long as I can remember. Sadly, I do not believe I will be returning to Jade due to the horrible service and food that myself, and my friends experienced tonight. To start off, the food quality was extremely poor. The chicken wings were pink on the inside, the rice was hard and old, the sushi stank like it was rotten, the lobster tail looked like something from an 80's slasher film. I would not have had as much trouble with this, had it not been a "special buffet" which costs a substantial amount more than their average dinner price for food that is sub par to say the least. Also, due to the poor quality of the food, a member of my dinner party ended up getting sick in the parking lot. He's been feeling horrible ever since. If this wasn't bad enough, as we were trying to leave in a hurry so my friend would not embarrass himself by blowing chunks on the floor, the waiter decided to stop us because he felt he had not received a large enough tip. For three people, we tipped him $3.50. Given, all he had done was get us each one glass of water, didn't bother to ask for refills, and didn't even offer to pick up our plates from the table. The waiter had trapped my friend in a corner who gave the tip and refused to let him leave the restaurant until he gave a bigger tip. He called him things like an "asshole" and a "cheap bastard". Overall: I would give them zero stars if I could. Never again will I be attending Hong Kong Jade. read more

Shouldn't even get 1star after what I went through with them for 2 nights in a row. Late delivery, even after ordering 1hr 15min ahead of time. Being offered a free meal cause food was late. Order next day for the free meal and delivery guy aggressively tried to make me give him a bigger tip, to the point, to where I thought it was gonna get physical. And to top it off, the meal that was delivered was basically thrown in the dish with cut Lo Main noodles with pork fried rice thrown on top of it. There's no excuse for the way your delivery guy acted or for the way food was prepared. I don't order as much from yall because of issues with you but you just lost a customer from Las Vegas who might be opening a business in plattsburgh. "Chinese" food, they said. I find the food to be overly salted, and greasy. Large selection of food, but anyone can throw soy sauce on chicken and call it Chinese food. Most items were deep fried or pan fried with a few steamed dishes. There is a sushi bar, which is odd because it's claiming to be a chinese restaurant. The staff here all spoke Cantonese and English. They were all friendly, and attentive. This is Plattsburgh though, so authentic chinese food is nearly impossible to find. I guess crab ragoons will do for now! read more

As with most 'Chinese' restaurants near here, the food is mediocre. The buffet is obviously the main draw and targets the population more concerned with quantity than quality. There are times that I fit that description and find myself there. More often I find myself there because a friend chose it. There are a few tasty options on the buffet, but many are overly greasy, salty or sweet. Most don't resemble even 'Chinese-American' much less 'Chinese' food. Although most Americans would not recognize or appreciate real Chinese food. They have experimented with a station that cooks to order, but I have seen very few people use it, and I didn't much that interested me. The dinner and weekend choices are better than weekday lunch, but you pay more. If you craving an all-you-can-eat, fatty food fix, this is the place. If you are looking for Chinese food, keep looking. read more

We were new in town and wanted to try Chinese buffet. The presentation of food was subpar but for taste it was better than it looked. We enjoyed most of them, except some of unusual items like popcorn. Service was relatively good. The server was very friendly and welcoming. read more

We were very disappointed as we remember this place having better food than what we experienced on this visit. The food either had no flavor or was old, dry, and chewy. Some of the food smelled spoiled. The carpet was filthy. I didn't eat much but went home not feeling so good. The service was terrible. I have been a customer of this restaurant since they opened around 27 pounds ago. The staff is now just like my family (nope, they don't like me either). The best Chinese food I've found in a very long time. They have great service, a good variety of dishes, great sound system, sushi and grill bar and plenty of desserts. Takeout is one price and you can pack your containers up to maximum. The worst Chinese food I have every had. I didn't even know you could make bad Chinese food until today. The food is very bland and tastes cheap. While I know it is a buffet, I still expected the food to taste decent. I have had plenty of Chinese food in my life and this didn't hit the spot. Turns out no one who works there is either from Hong Kong or has been to Hong Kong. So the the authenticity was less than desired... however when I found out that "Buffet" indicates that you can eat all you want for the price of $5.99 I was hooked. Literally... I am giving this place no stars. We had one plate and instantly felt sick, we then paid out bill and were followed outside by our waitress claiming that we didn't leave enough money, which we know is not the case. I enjoy going here the food is always fresh and delicious. I especially like the wonton soup.

Given the remoteness of the location, taste is borderline bearable. They do a few dishes well (most of revolving around bacon) and the selection is decent. Fried food section is massive and caters to the area, as a restaurant that needs to survive would. Terrific service though. Would recommend if decently hungry only. read more

Have only had take out, but not a good experience. Ordered 2 dishes; orange beef and Hunan duck. Both were very bland. Beef had heavy cornstarch coating. Duck was tough and more bone than duck. Have ordered out here for 10 years and it was never great but best around. Something has changed. read more
