Been here twice...the first time the food was INCREDIBLE. I got the Japchae (sweet potato glass noddles with veggies and bulgogi beef) and the pork bun. While the food was next level, the service was unfortunately not as great. The second time I went i got the Chinese fried rice with chicken and it was the most bland dish I have ever had. The previous restaurant in this location was amazing. Lawrence and his entire team were always welcoming and friendly. Dining there felt like sitting down for a family meal. They always remembered your name, and the bartenders knew your drink order as soon as you walked through the door. We were genuinely sad when they closed. Now, onto our experience at Donwoori. This was our second time dining at Donwoori in Winooski because we wanted to give it another chance. We love Korean food, but if you're looking for an authentic Korean dining experience, this isn't it. It's more like going to Taco Bell expecting authentic Mexican cuisine. That's fine if that's what you're looking for, but it wasn't what we expected. Food: We ordered the wings with two different sauces, but honestly, they tasted almost identical. Both were so salty that we couldn't finish them. The rest of the meal was just very underwhelming. We also ordered the fried green beans, expecting them to be freshly prepared. Instead, they tasted like frozen green beans that had been deep-fried and sitting around for a while. Service: Unfortunately, the service was the biggest disappointment. The entire experience felt robotic. No one seemed particularly welcoming, and the atmosphere reflected that. We sat at the bar for several minutes before anyone acknowledged us. Not a greeting or "we'll be right with you", nothing. Once we were finally able to order, we felt rushed. Our bartender, Sienna, was inattentive throughout the meal. After our food was served, she never checked back to see how everything was or whether we wanted another round of drinks. We had to ask for refills ourselves. There was very little interaction with anyone behind the bar or the restaurant, which made the experience feel cold and uninviting. Ambiance: The overall atmosphere matched the service. impersonal, unfriendly, and lacking the warmth that makes you want to stay and enjoy your meal abd have good conversation. First time having Korean food in Vermont and it's not quite there. It was full when I arrived at 6:30pm on a Thursday and the wait time was about 15mins. There was a party of four sitting at a table with the other half the table available so it could have easily been split off to sit another four. After the party left, that section got split into three tables to sit 4, 2 and 2. There were multiple people manning the front, yet it seems to be the "one" person that was taking care of the seating, taking orders and bringing drinks. I requested for a couple things that had all been forgotten because that one person was so overwhelmed, but the friendliness was there. Every dish that arrived at my table was not hot, their organization needs work. Ordered several items to try since Donwoori is new: - Green Bean Fries $7|Fried well, just bland. - Soy Garlic KFC small(6pc) $11 | Korean wings are typically thick, tender and juicy and these were dinky and underwhelming. The soy garlic sauce was on the saltier end and lacked umami. Even the pickled daikon that came with it was made poorly and lacked the refreshing zing from the vinegar. - Bulgogi Bowl $16 | The beef was soft and flavorful. - Chicken Curry Rice Bowl $18 | The rice was far from fluffy, it was hard. The panko was twice as thick as the chicken itself and the curry was just salty with no flavor. Tasted like the cubed curry packs that was mixed poorly. - Tteokbokki with cheese $11 | Small bowl of tteokbokki with a few pieces of fish cakes and a couple sausages. Tasted like one of those microwavable frozen packs that I could find at a Korean store. Korean dishes are usually very comforting and combines a complexity of flavors and textures, and I did not get any of that at Donwoori. My visit was quite disappointing. read more

Overall the food was ok and service ok. Very busy when we arrived. Put our names on a waitlist. If you go have a drink nearby while waiting, your table may be given away. Nice lighting, quite loud, busy, upbeat, on a corner a block away from downtown winooski. Lots of street parking and garage nearby if need be. We got the chicken wings appetizer. Wings were ok but on the dry side and not too flavorful. The bibimbap with beef, which was fairly good flavor wise and portion (large portions), but very salty. I forget what my partner ordered but he said it was a little too greasy/salty for him to want to keep what he couldn't eat for leftovers. The weirdest part of the meal were the drinks. They told us they'd just started their cocktail menu so all the drinks were new to them and us. I got a "spicy cocktail" that had sriracha in it and unfortunately all I could taste, or see (drink had so much sriracha in it that it looked like a Bloody Mary) was sriracha. My partner got a bright green drink which was much more mild and tolerable. Overall not memorable food, but also not bad. Good place if you're looking for a quick bite and/or heavier salty fried food. read more

Ate at their old location and hated it. Was reluctant to try this new incarnation until people I trust said to go. No regrets! Best fried chicken I've had since I moved here! I favor the butter version. Mouthwatering good! Perfectly cooked. Japchae was good but needed maybe shiitake mushrooms and a bit more soy sauce. Needed umami. No soy sauce on table. Fries with bulgogi tasty but meat was a bit overcooked. Will skip that next time and get string beans, side of kimchi. No banchan! A few weeks back my friends were gushing about how Winooski had gotten a fabulous Korean restaurant perfect for a casual weekday meal, so I and the Husband went for a date! It was busy, but the service was great and our waitress was so engaging! The food was also delicious. That said, it was to our shock and horror to hear an older sever, in beret and dark chef uniform, perhaps kitchen? mutter under his breath "I ought to strangle her" as he passed by one of younger servers. That poor girl looked like she was going to cry! As a mother of three beautiful girls, I would never want them exposed to such toxic behavior! My only complaint is I find some of the dishes a little heavy on the salt, so for that reason I get their plain fries instead of the truffle fries. The garlic aeoli is chef's kiss. The place is ok, but I've had a few quirks with take-out orders. Once, they forgot to include rice and kimchi, so I had to go back to pick them up. Another time, I ordered the spicy squid rice bowl, and because of a previous experience, I asked the waitress if rice was included. She said no and asked if I wanted it, then needed to check with the chef. It felt a bit odd because the dish is typically listed under rice bowls. Also, I've received undercooked rice there, which was surprising for an Asian restaurant. Overall, the take-out service and rice cooking skills need to be improved. read more

I wanted to experience the hype over their KFC - Korean Fried Chicken wings. The wings did not disappoint! I ordered the Gochujang Flavored wings. The order came with 6 large fall off the bone crispy tasty wings. The wings were not soaked in sauce but mixed well into each bite. I like a good spicy wing but These were not spicy at all just good flavor. Seems I ordered the mild ones. Next time I'll ask for the heat! We also ordered the Spicy Pork Bulgogi. Tasty but not spicy. The portion size was perfect with the order of wings. This came with a side of rice and kimchi. I appreciate a good kimchi which this one was just okay. Last dish was Japchae Noodles. I was told this was a good flavored dish. Good portion size. We ordered take out and it was ready and waiting for me as promised. Easy 15 min free park out front and plenty of parking if you choose to dine in. We will be back as there are other KFC inspired sauces to choose from. read more

We enjoyed the food so much that we forgot to take photos! The size of our orders were just right fir us but admittedly, smaller than what you would get in most restaurants in the Burlington area. The service was friendly but our food wait was longer than anticipated. They are fairly new so perhaps they will have better timing later on. The place was small so it's not meant to have a large dine in crowd. Since there was a table available, we dined in. The place is very clean, well-lit, and cozy. Ordered the Galbi (short ribs), cheesy tteokbokki (rice cakes), kimchi pancake, Honey butter KFC, and the Gochujang KFC. We tried to eat in and got a table. I wouldn't exactly recommend this, as it it is small and no table service. We waited two hours for food as they were extremely busy and backed up. I felt like the front lady was incredibly good at dealing with frustrated customers. She kept a positive attitude the entire time. She did try to get our order in earlier, as we were eating in. I thought the food was tasty, though the tteokbooki and KFC were kind of disappointing to me. I did not get any gochujang flavor and feel like it tasted more like BBQ sauce. I don't know if they were trying to keep the spice level low or what, but I expected some spice from the "Spicy Chicken" menu item and got a level 0. I was pleasantly surprised by the rice cake side (vs. the crinkle cut french fries). I've never had them this way and would go for this option over the fries next time. All in all, I would order again, but there is some room for improvement. I hope they stay around as a Korean food option in the area. read more

Two visits to this place now, two home runs. Both times I have tried something new as an entree, and something more familiar as an appetizer. The first time I got the cheese tteokbokki and kimchi pancakes. Both were obviously freshly prepared and hot and delicious. The tteokbokki was sweeter than I had anticipated, but I suspect that's a common perception among Western palates not used to the dish. The biggest surprise to me was just how much I liked the sausage and fish cakes that were part of the dish. I like both of those foods, broadly speaking, but these were like the Platonic ideal of Sausage and Fish Cake. They elevated the dish for sure! It will be a go-to, and maybe when I've had it a few more times I'll try the Rose tteokbokki. The second time around I got the gochujang fried chicken and fried mandu (Korean dumplings); how have I spent an entire gluttonous adult life never experiencing gochujang seasoning? These wings were works of art. I don't typically prefer anything more than sauce on my wings, but these wings were coated in a crunchy coating bursting with flavor. Sweet chili as well as about a million other tastes work together, and it truly is a wing unparalleled in Vermont. Do yourself a favor and order more than the 6 piece minimum. I got the "spicier" medium version, it was great for folks that enjoy some spice but not a fiery mouth. Next time I'll get the hottest option. I'm not mentioning the sides, they were delicious but I'm assuming if you've had fried pancakes and fried dumplings you'll order those to accompany the strong meal and be more than satisfied. read more

This place is really cute and small, nice vibe in the inside. The only thing I got was the tteokbokki and a strawberry milk, both were good but a few things about the dish: 1. Small portion- I know it's an "appetizer" but I've had lots of tteokbokki before and I usually get double the amount. It was $9.26 with tax, not too expensive and I think it is worth that amount. 2. I really wanted that spicy gochujang flavor, but it tasted more like a Korean bbq sauce with a little spice. Still good just not the flavor I was expecting. 3. The little sausage wasn't anything special or flavorful, kinda just tasted like a hot dog. 4. The little fish cakes were good, good texture and flavorful It did satisfy my craving for some tteokbokki, and I would get it again. I wanted so badly to love Donwoori but unfortunately it missed the mark for me. I ordered the chicken bulgogi rice bowl, the galbi rice bowl, an order of mandu and a small kimchi. The total with tax and tip came to $45, and the portions were incredibly small. The chicken meal was made up of tiny pieces of chicken with slices of onion on top of a lettuce leaf and a scoop of rice. The meat side of the container wasn't even half full. The galbi was mostly bone. The mandu were tasty but small, and the kimchi was not the best. I was hoping for so much more as it's the only Korean option in the area, but it's a pass. read more

Came here for dinner on a Tuesday. This is a new Korean street food restaurant that does primarily take out. They have 2 tables that seat 4 people each. They said the food would take 30 minutes to come out because they had a lot of to go orders at the same time. It took about 40 minutes for the food to be ready and we were brought a complimentary kimchi pancake which was good. The fried chicken came out first but was not hot. The flavor was good. It came with fries, a slaw and some kimchi. The kimchi was mushy and not good at all. (My sister and I are Korean and make our own kimchi so this was a disappointment.) The tofu stew came out several minutes later but at least it was hot. The stew was good. The bulgogi came out several minutes later and that was pretty good. The tteokbokki came out last and that was pretty good. Everything was on the sweet side. This place just opened so they are clearly working on timing and service. There were 3 other people who were all waiting for their take out orders while we were there. Hopefully, they will work out the kinks because this area is lacking in Korean food. The menu is pretty diverse and I would try other dishes there. They have a website and you can order online. Located where Pho Vo used to be next to a recycling place with a parking lot. read more

The pancake was burnt on the bottom. Can't taste anything beside the burning taste.
