The egg rolls were a standout as well: crispy, well-seasoned, and genuinely memorable. The spicy fried rice with basil, however, fell short. While the vegetables were fresh and well-cooked, the dish lacked the spice and flavor I was expecting. It felt mild and underwhelming compared to how promising it sounded on the menu. We went back (again) today. Friendliest service and food remains delicious. We tried a couple of new to us dishes including the drunken noodles and a coconut curry spin on pad Thai - both were wonderful. They had takeout going pretty steadily. We tried this spot a few years ago and visited again recently. We were blown away by the flavors this go around. The Panang with Chicken was creamy, spicy, and absolutely delicious! There were a lot of onions, but they were well cooked and sweet. The Pad Thai with Chicken was flavorful and plentiful. We took the food to-go. Once a year, I go to this restaurant with my extended family. The service is good with a side of humor, and the food is great! The ambiance (because Yelp is asking) is pretty standard for a strip mall Asian restaurant - it looks fine, but I'm there for the food. :) We ordered Pork Pad Thai, Lab Esan, and the Pad Ped Talay. My sister and I shared the Pad Thai and the Lab Esan. Both were really good! The Lab was like lettuce wrap filling, but we were instructed to eat it with a little ball of rice. It was tasty! I really wanted to love this place. It's smaller and dated which is ok. I was asked to grab a table anywhere and I ordered fresh spring rolls and house pad thai. The egg roll filling tasted like the filling from frozen egg rolls and they were a tad bit overcooked/burnt in certain areas. My pad thai smelled like cigarettes and the first few bites tasted like cigarettes as well. The shrimp in the pad thai was barely warm and obviously cheap frozen shrimp. Hong Thai has the best egg rolls and dipping sauce than any other place we've tried in the Twin Cities. Also a fan of Thai broccoli dish which you can add a protein too. Almost always get takeout because the sit down area of the restaurants are not warm or cozy. read more

Massaman Curry was delicious as well, I only had a sampling of my hubbys choice but I would go back to order it for a lighter meal. I usually don't write reviews but my experience stuck out to the point where I feel it's necessary, when I walked in the cashier who I'm assuming is the owner was walking out of the bathroom and asked my name, I told him (first time he should have noticed that he messed up) he then proceeds to help the two ladies who where already waiting at the counter for their food, I'm second in line at this point, while they were waiting for their food another person walks in while he was making small talk with the girls saying that he was "dead most of the day and that he was 100$ behind on tips blamed it being Sunday and football" when he brings out the girls foods he asks me for my name again, I tell him, he then asks the gentleman behind me who just walked in for his name and he goes okay walks into the kitchen in the back, and grabs his food, but not mine. He takes the payment from the guy 5mins and then turns to me and told me that I called the wrong location, I told him no and that I called Rogers location he told me to go look at my phone I ran out in the pouring rain to get my mobile I walked in he tells me to redial I did, and what do you know the phone started to ring, looking at me perplexed he goes you must of talked to my son, he flips threw his orders and ends up finding mine in the finished pile, he goes we must have missed it and asks if I would like to order again?? Sure I say being hungry and not wanting to drive any further he asks me what I want to order I told him again 1 order of sweet and sour chicken, 1 order of sesame chicken, (I asked if both of those comes with white rice and he said yes) and one order of two eggrolls, he then asks for my name a third time, and tells me he will put it in for the kitchen to cook it next, it took the kitchen 35 minutes for this order while in the meantime people are calling and coming n going, while I'm still waiting. Finally when I think I'm about ready to get my food and pay he calls out the wrong name (but whatever I'm there for food not for friends) and brings out the food and tries to take my payment, walking away to help other customers several times when I'm trying to pay I realized that the total is just about double of what I thought, he goes over of what I ordered and it turns out that he thought "one order of two egg rolls" means 4 eggrolls, he gets cranky blaming the Mishap on me and take the eggrolls out of the bag and walks back into the kitchen just to take the two eggrolls out! (Petty but whatever) I was just happy to finally get my order and get out of there considering it's been an hour and a quarter since the first phone call, but when I get home to eat Is what really disappointed us, I order a sweet n sour chicken, and sesame chicken, and 2 egg rolls, we only got one container of white rice. But the box that contained the sesame chicken a 1/3 of full with fried rice, I don't know what I did to piss them off but note taken, will not return. (people who are this confused should not be toting pistols but that's just my opinion) This experience would have been a lot better if 1. Help people in the order that they arrived 2. Living in CA for 18 years I am used to authentic foods I started off going to this location in Albertville it was fast my favorite. I since moved to Rogers, and I was thrilled to see the same owners here. I have taken a few friends here and not one ever had a bad thing to say. Serice is always good even though they like many are suffering in a work that apparently no one needs to work. I highly recommend this place just remember if you eat here order your food hot or mild. Stopped in for dinner and was having a hankering for Thai food. Ordered the fresh spring rolls with shrimp. They were very cold and sticky, which means they were made in advance and probably kept in the fridge. They tasted good and I enjoyed them. I was debating between the red curry and the green curry and speaking to the waiter he suggested the green. I almost always get red so I figured I'd give it a try. I got the chicken and it was very good. The green has a little less oomph than the red, was a milder flavor but spicy and good. I had the Thai iced tea and it was good but very sweet. Overall I enjoyed my meal and would definitely come back next time I'm in Rogers. Went to Hong Thai today and had chicken fried rice, chicken pad thai, and the shrimp roll. Chicken fried rice was delicious, perfectly seasoned and the portion is plenty!!!! Chicken pad thai is as smacking lacking! Noodles are thin, and the smashed peanuts were a perfect touch to the dish. However, the spring rolls did not contain enough shrimp to my liking, but still tasty and refreshing. Loved the spring roll sauce! The staff were friendly and the customer service was great! Maybe in part because of finding what seems like pretty good Thai food in Rogers after living in Otsego for a year. The one thing I would like to see them improve is their menu, both in the restaurant and on their website. I found the layout of the printed menu to not be helpful and the expanding and contracting on the website is even more problematic. It obviously was not designed to order off of. I take-out from Hong Thai at least twice a month. I really enjoy the food! The egg rolls are delicious. They have a flaky crust, and the sauce is awesome. The chicken fried rice is great, and has a smoky flavor that makes it unique. The chicken pad Thai is fantastic. I go with spicy-3. I can't claim to know if the food is authentic Thai - but I know it is good! The owner - yeah he is not going to try to impress you - but he is authentic. I enjoy him! He carries a firearm, but that is his right. And I'm ok with that. His employees work very hard, are friendly, and provide a pleasant experience. Decent Asian food, good service. My parents treated the 5 of us to dinner last night. They seem to think this is the best Thai in Minnesota so we drove 45 minutes to eat here. But keep in mind, they live in Deer River, Minnesota! So this is the best Thai according to two senior citizens that live 4 hours away. My wife, my daughter, and I all agreed that the food was okay, more like 3 stars. We definitely wouldn't drive 45 minutes to eat here. The service was excellent though. And the food came out very fast. I had a super bad pounding headache after I ate here. This usually means that I've just consumed a big pile of MSG. But I guess I should expect this. P.S. My wife wanted Thai food. We are visiting from out town and this was the closest place. When we walked in we were the only ones there and had to ask if they were open. This was 5:30pm on a Friday evening. I wanted to leave but my wife really wanted Thai. The service was very friendly. My wife had a glass of wine and I had ice tea. We order the cream cheese wontons which were good once we got to eat them. The wontons and the sauce were so hot (think steam) you couldn't eat them. Our food came out and they were still to hot to eat. I ordered sweet and sour chicken, there were exactly 2 small pieces of pineapple, bell pepper and onion. My wife ordered a not hot dish and said wow I would hate to see how hot medium is. Overall the food was just OK, not bad not great. When I asked for a refill on my ice tea I was told that you only get 1 refill and if I wanted more I would have to pay for another. She said it was on the menu, so I looked and the menu stated two free refills on soda. She said that did not include the ice tea. When we paid I asked about a service charge on our bill, I was told it was for using a credit card. I have got think there has to be a better place to get Asian food. read more
