I'm giving this a 4 purely on the Pad Thai, it's become my partner's new hyper-fixation food. He stops in after work often just to stock up and have leftovers later! It's incredible how much Pad Thai varies from place-to-place! This one isn't as sweet as some can be, they add lots of crushed peanuts for texture, and use the longer style noodles! Great developed flavor! I've tried various fried rice, noodle dishes, and their Massaman curry. Overall I'd say stick with the Pad Thai, any appetizers, and the curry. The curry has good flavor and is moderately creamy! I've had a few I would rank above it, but it is a solid option! The drunken noodles weren't salty enough for me, and the curry rice is yummy but neither are a stand out. They have quite a large place & parking lot, but we prefer takeout! read more

I've ordered from Mai Thai twice via DoorDash. First time I got pad see ew, which was good (back in August). More recently, I got massaman curry with plant based duck. I liked thay plant based duck was an option and it wasn't too spicy. Massaman curry is one of my favorite Thai dishes and unfortunately I felt Mai Thai's version lacked the flavor compared to other restaurants' versions I've had in the past. Wow wee! I ordered randomly on door dash from this spot. I had no expectations as I'd never heard of the place and I don't go to that side of town often. The food! Wow. I'm a Thai food snob. This place hit the nail on the head. Delicious! The food was packaged up really well and the as delivered thoughtfully so our curries didn't spill. Before I begin: 1. Be careful when you are looking at reviews or websites because there a several restaurants with the name Mai Thai. This is the one in Robbinsdale, off of Bottineau Blvd. 2. The address is on Lakeland Avenue, which really is a frontage road on the west side of Bottineau Blvd. It's one of those "you can't get there from here." The secret is to take 39th St (East) off Broadway, and make a right turn, OR follow France (east) at the point where France and Broadway meet. Use Google maps. It's not difficult, just weird. 3. I looked at all of the bad reviews (1 star and 2 star) for this restaurant and they are all very old. I had been to this restaurant over 10 years ago and was not very impressed. However, they must have changed ownership because now its an excellent Asian/Thai restaurant and very much worth a try. I have been there twice in the last few weeks. The Pork Egg Rolls are probably the best I've ever had, including the ones at Rainbow Chinese Restaurant. Order them for sure. The Chicken or Pork Pad Thai, as well as the Drunken Noodles (Stir fry wide noodles, egg, bell pepper, mushroom, tomato, onion and basil) are fantastic. The surprise Killer dish is the Pineapple Fried Rice (Egg, pineapple, peas, onions, cashew nuts, and raisins) which is absolutely, amazingly good, and now is literally my favorite Twin Cities fried rice. It is a very large order and can easily feed 2 to 3 people. The chicken sate was OK, but seemed a bit dry. The Crispy Pot Stickers lost their crispness on their way home, but probably would be much better in the restaurant. The service is very friendly and they fill take out orders very quickly. The restaurant itself is fairly large, but has the (lack of) charm of must Asian restaurants -- pretty utilitarian. I am very happy to see that Mai Thai has improved so much and encourage you to look at more recent reviews (post Covid). read more

Ordered for delivery at work since I wanted something tasty to drink as well as eat. Found them on my Happy Cow (vegan) app and had a pretty good experience. The jasmine tea was so good! Extremely sweet and refreshing. I did order the fried spring rolls but am not sure if they were actually vegan or not, I wonder if they use fish sauce (I forgot to specify vegan only). I also got mango sticky rice and that was good. I ordered the vegetable stir fry and it was just OK, tofu was good in it just not much flavor and a lot of peppers which aren't me favorite. I would love to order again but all their curries have a spicy pepper next to it so I'm afraid of it being too spicy for me. read more

This was one of the most disappointing food experiences we've ever had. Ordered $150 worth of food through DoorDash on Mother's Day (May 8, 2026). Food showed up cold. Was missing an entire dish. Immediately called the restaurant; said that the DoorDash driver may have taken the food. The food was sealed (see photo). We only received four dumplings but it's supposed to come with five (see photo), and we had ordered the shrimp version but I am certain these were pork and we don't eat porik. Opened the rest of the food and the food portions were an absolulte joke.We've ordered from other Thai restaurnats around the Twin Cities and as you can see, the photo that captures the empty cannister is the canister we use for the remaining food we take after we've already had our fill. So, at other Thai restaurants, the leftover food yields more than the primary portion that this restaurant offers. I tried for four days to recfity this through both DoorDash and the resutaurant. DoorDash told me to pound sand (terrible, but that's another story), and the restaurant never called me back after indicating that they would have a manager or owner reach out. I gave them plenty of opportunites to get this rectified like remake the food, refund us the food, refund us for the missing food/wrong food, before I submit the complaint on Google Reviews, YELP, and DoorDash, which would cause far more damage to them reputationally, they never called me back with a soltuion. This went on for five days, and when I finally got a hold of a 'manager' she told me to fly a kite after respectfully laying out the entire situation. She hung up. Hence, this post. There are plenty of honest reviewers and restuanrt operators around the TWin Cities that are far superior to this disastrous restaurant. I do not recommend ordering from here ever. read more

I live near this restaurant and have eaten their food multiple times, but today, I had chicken 'jerky' instead of chicken satay. And the lunch 'special' peanut noodle sauce was terrible. I called to let them know how terrible the food was. The woman who answered couldn't have cared less. I asked for the manager, and they refused to tell me who the manager was. I'll never eat there again. And I am dedicated to writing this review in as many places as I can find. read more

I finally went in person to Mai Thai and I wasn't disappointed. The food was very good. I had wontons, mango stir fry and dessert. I like that you can pick your spice level. The service was excellent, and I really enjoyed saving myself all those food delivery service fees by being there in-person. The ambience was a bit dated, but I kind of enjoyed that too. When you get in, it feels like you are going to eat diner's food. But the food, I just say this place offers great Thai food. Worst experience! today's chicken satay was as hard as boot leather, the lunch special was no special I can tell you! the peanut noodles was a jar of penut butter with noodles, yuck. I called the restaurant and told the server about the disappointment and she couldn't care less! she didn't do anything about it and didn't know the managers name. my family have eaten here a lot and won't go back now! Mai goodness, these stir fries were good! You've gotta Thai them... haha I had to! My buddies and I had the Thai Basil Stir Fry, Cashew Stir Fry, and Pad Thai This place was pretty darn good. Very nice owner and open atmosphere. They have a statue of some of the Peanuts characters near the front which is fun! I loved the mushrooms in the first dish, and the chicken was fried lightly but flavorfully. The next one had the cashews as the highlight, with sautéed chicken, which was also tasty. The final one was our least favorite. The noodles were just a bit too thin for Pad Thai; I prefer thicker and wider noodles. A friend and I had lunch there today. The food was absolutely wonderful. We stuck to appetizers because we weren't super hungry. We had the fresh spring rolls, the pork egg rolls, and the chicken satay. Everything was absolutely delicious. Delicious. The egg rolls were not greasy. Super yummy. The fresh spring rolls were wonderful. Chicken satay was so good as well. We didn't have anything we didn't like. Also, the service was really nice. The young lady who waited on us recommended the Jasmine tea which was absolutely delicious. All in all a fabulous experience and we will definitely be back. Just called to place an order for wings and jalapenos wontons.... I guess my order wasnt high enough, so I was advised of $15 minimum on credit card purchases. I asked how much my order was = $12.58. What a terrific find! Not the easiest to get to but once you figure out the roads it is absolutely perfect. The pad see yew is my favorite item here. The sauce is sweet and succulent. The chicken was very tender. You can tell this is a family owned restaurant. I would love to try the various curries. The red curry sounds amazing. Pricing is very reasonable. read more

The food is dependably middle of the road, not the top tier Thai food, but okay. The reason I will not return is because of a failed take-out order. When I got home, I found out it was the wrong item. I don't eat meat. While there was plenty of chicken in my pad Thai, I wasn't able to eat it. Upon calling the next day (closed when I called that night), the owner told me she remembered the order, even said she was sorry, but it was the helps fault for writing it up wrong. She told me I was charged for the chicken and not the higher price for the shrimp--like that made me feel better. As stated, she said she was sorry, but was unwilling to go any further. This place is very unassuming looking but the food is great! My red curry was perfect -- a nice mix of protein and veggies with robust flavor and not too sweet. That's so rare these days. Our spring rolls were good too, and there are many vegetarian options. Service was friendly and efficient. I'm surprised this Mom and Pop restaurant isn't packed all the time. We are from Duluth and have been looking forward to some decent Thai. This place just happened to be by our Airbnb. Ordered Wontons and drummies as appetizers- both were nicely crispy and tasty. Next came the Pad Thai, Red Curry and the Shaking Beef. (Well- we ordered chicken but got beef.) Even though we didn't order it, the beef was our favorite dish. Feeling very fortunate to have this place so close to home. We ordered a little bit of everything between 7 if us and I wasn't disappointed with anything I tried. We started with fried spring rolls which are as good as I've ever had. I don't say that lightly. They were rolled tight and fried to perfection. I don't see how I could ever go back and not get these every time. We also ordered calamari and although it was only rings and not tentacles it was fried delicately and the accompanying sauce was the perfect complement. I should add that the menus explains that it is only rings so I didn't feel slighted or anything. I ordered kabocha with beef and it was amazing. Everything was in its right place and the broth part of the entree was very complex. I would order it spicier next time but even so it still had a nice bite. We also had chicken pad thai which was a highlight. The flavor was very subtle and not overdone like it's very easy to do with pad thai. After our meal the owner brought us over a complimentary dessert. It was a rice pudding with fried bananas. Not a huge dessert person but this had my attention for sure. The service was great. Worst food I've had at a restaurant... my dad had never had Tom Ka soup (coconut soup) and I had been raving about the magical flavors the dish can offer from Legit Thai restaurants or even making it at home (its not hard!) So i ordered that straight away as it said required 20 min to make. We made our selections from the menu and waited minuets before she took our order (red curry tofu, pad thai chicken, cranberry curry duck) Shortly later our soup came... and I knew as soon as i saw the white broth that it wasnt gonna be good. What we recieved was something like someones bad and literal interpretation of "coconut soup." All it was, was warm coconut milk, basic vegetables, and tofu. No spices, no lime, no fish sauce, no lemon grass... No Flavor. Nothing. I was so embarrassed especially because this was a $14 dish!!! It should have been $5, if that... oh and ya know how i mentioned we wanted to share it? Well it came out in 1 bowl but she did come back with 2 for us to split between ourselves awkwardly... We suffered through the "coconut soup" because we were hungry then stacked our bowls to be collected. Finally my thai iced tea came (which was the only good thing we had) but the waitress didn't collect the bowls... we waited. Then she came with just the red curry dish with chicken... my vegitation dad was appalled. So... we waited another 15 minutes for Just the pad thai. We waited 2 minutes, expecting the next two dishes to come. Nope. So my fiance started to eat. He said the sauce was extremely overpowering, oddly flavored, and super soggy. He could only eat the chicken which was warm with cold parts (probly sat out after the mix up) finally when our currys came out (2 min after another) we told her to take the bowls as they were STILL uncollected as well as the Pad Thai cuase it was disgusting and inedible. We also expressed how poor the soup was... I shared my cranberry duck curry with my fiance as he had nothing to ear. The currys flavor was ok. Nothing special. At least there was spice and flavor. But the duck.. yuck it was spongy and icky. So we didn't even eat that. Just so dissapointed... The service was slow ontop of everything. I had to get the 3rd set of silverware myself. $58 for everything. Waste of money. I could have made better food at home. Took out of town guests for dinner on a Friday eve. Seated ourselves amongst only a few other visitors. I typically order takeout 2-3 x per month. Fresh spring rolls huge. A small beer selection and friendly, attentive service. Excellent sweet green curry. Pad Thai also very good. If you are looking for ambiance go else where. I used to eat here regularly. Probably 1-2 times/week for lunch. I almost always order the chicken pad Thai because I've always loved their spin on it. The last 3 times I've ordered here, I've ordered the exact same thing. The pad Thai has been so bland to the point it's inedible. The last time I ordered it through take out I ended up having to doctor it up at home to make it edible. I don't know what happened. It's only been the last few months. One of my favorite spots! We live close by in golden valley and so happy we found this place. The restaurant it's self is nothing special, out dated decor, but the wait staff are great and the food is amazing. They also do a lot of take out. I've read some of the negative reviews saying they mix up orders but I have ordered take out many times from them and that has never been the case. As you can read from other reviewers, their Pad Thai isn't the best. If you're picky with Pad Thai like me, don't order it here. However their other dishes are delish!!! I am obsessed with their Cashew Stir Fry with Chicken! So yummy. Also love their Thai Basil Stir Fry, Red Curry and their Pad See Yew! Prices are around $12 per dish, which isn't terrible considering portion size and freshness of their food. My only con is that their spice level isn't the most consistent. I have ordered several times and have to ask for extra spicy (I like it hot). Once I asked for spicy and there was hardly any spice to it. Delicious food (egg noodles with chicken, veggies and spice!, perfectly crispy chicken wings with jalapeño "salsa," and a delightful mock duck curry), and a kind and caring staff. The owners of the store obviously love their work and their workers. They handled a very rude customer who was heckling over her bill with kindness and grace, although she obviously shook them. Just left Mai Thai with a very happy heart and belly. The family that runs this place is so lovely! Very humble, friendly and make you feel like family. Really one of the best dining experiences all around that I've ever had. We were driving through Robbinsdale on our way for thai in NE when we passed the sign for Mai Thai. We called to ask about their vegan options and the girl was super helpful and explained all that they have- lots of options for everyone. We turned the car around and headed back to give them a try. Glad we did! We ordered the fresh spring rolls, pad thai, green curry with tofu and the thai basil stir fry. Every dish was SO on point! I often have to add veggies (and pay extra) to dishes because they're so sparse at other restaurants. The dishes here were very balanced, fresh and bursting with flavor. We definitely have a new go to spot for thai and if you haven't been here you really need to give them a try! read more
