When I brought up the phone quote they said prices "change daily," even though I called the same day and came right over. I asked for an acid test and he agreed -- but when I asked him to compare it to his 14k gold he "unknowingly" used an 18k gold ring instead. I asked to see the ring and it was labeled 18k -- he acted like it was an accident when I caught him using a higher-purity gold ring for his test with a 10 karat acid. Once his mistake was pointed out he apologized, then essentially told me to leave by refusing to buy my gold. I took the exact pieces to a jeweler down the street with no problems: they confirmed it was 14k and gave me a great price. Bottom line -- they baited me with a phone quote, lowballed me in person, and tried sneaky tricks. Spend your money somewhere else.

I had a family member who worked with Leo years ago, and my sister reminded me about custom work she did for her as well and recommended I reach out to him and see what he could do. Leo was very prompt in answering my call, said he would likely be able to use my stones was and excited about working together. When we got together I brought all my jewelry I wanted to either use or trade, showed him pictures of a few rings I liked, and talked about the styles I liked. He sketched out a design that we then edited a bit together, and then a week or so later sent the mock up for me to approve. After that it took about 3 more weeks for the ring to be ready. The actual ring is stunning, comfortable, and such a special and unique piece. I opted to wear just this is one ring as a sort of joint wedding/engagement ring rather than have two rings since it's pretty substantial on its own. All in all the experience was great, it was more affordable than I had imagined, and the ring is more beautiful than I had expected.
