We had set up an account with Honor but never used them because my wife went into the hospital and then to skilled nursing. We later tried a different company through Kaiser but they had trouble filling our requested hours. They also cost more and didn't take credit cards. We started using Honor two days ago. They were able to accommodate our requested hours on short notice. We love their smartphone app , their rate schedule and the fact they take credit cards. The two caregivers we have had so far were excellent. They both found things to help with and didn't need much prompting from me. I am surprised to see any reviews that are low as I would give six stars if I could. Their intake process was highly professional and their business shows a high degree of organization at all levels. Take it from a very organized retired teacher. Honor is worth checking out and trying their services. Kudos to management and staff . read more

Honor Care is providing part time care (4hrs/day, 7 days/week) for my elderly relative. The person that comes Mon-Sat is great. Always a bit late, but provides great care. My only gripe is when the regular caregiver is unable to come. Honor Care doesn't seem to have a backup system in place. So, most of the time no replacement comes or they able to come only at different hours. I could be wrong, but it feels like they treat caregivers like Uber drivers. Instead of proactively having a backup list or making phone calls, it feels like they just open up a slot and hope somebody responds. I could be wrong, but that is the way it feels. read more

I was working for this Company and I did the best I could for my patient. I was praised and thanked every day!!! By patient, his Family and the company ! My patient it was an elderly man 95 yrs old. They let family to " reap off " the patient of everything! I witnessed what was going on! Money, valuable Items the daughter stolen from the patient, mistreated him, leaving in a mess in the house( not cleaned and smelly terrible) restricted him to have access to his own personal funds!! They "degraded " patient of his honor and dignity and she has stolen a lot of $ from him that he had it in his home ! He confronted her and she said she took it, admitting that it was " on caution" to be sure are safe!! She picked this $, as he told me he had it from his church , bcz he was a Pastor. I think this lots of $ should have been returned to church!!! Actually an investigation should be done on his daughter.He was crying telling me about her and how she took all his $ he hidden in his home!!! What a shameful for this company to let me go ( I am the best ever care giver) because the daughter was upset that he went and ask the bank what his rights are bcz his son in law threaten him with jail if he will ever take one penny from the bank!!! It was his account and he had all the rights to use it as he pleased. Even though his son is an Attorney, he never got involved on this matter. Caregiver cancelled an hour before the scheduled shift.. no back up was provided.... She was also scheduled for the next day... do I worry, that she might not make it.. Care Coordinator texts saying that she will be there the following day.. An hour before the shift... CANCELS.... What???? My son had plans, but now has to rearrange his entire schedule because we have no help for their dying dad with brain cancer.. It's hard enough to know that your loved one is dying, and then to try and get relief for one's self.. to be mentally strong to keep going ??? Clients were okay , but I never got to have a full experience because I saw right through what they tried to sell during orientation they want you to travel far with little reimbursement for gas and not to mention the mileage your putting on your car . Then expect you to not only caregive but clean house & do pet care all for $71 dollars for 4 hours . For you to be a well established business you would think you would compensate certain work more because one it's full care , also your doing extra things in the home plus traveling back & forth . your attendance is crucified for not picking up extra shifts or they call you daily to pick up shifts & during orientation we were told that we would get bonuses for all extra shifts we picked up looked on the app no bonuses just $68 dollars & some change to travel to Victorville for 4 hours . Client consistency is also based on two shift visits with the same client THAT HONOR ITSELF HAS TO PROVIDE by my second week I already was told it needs improvement when I was barely given a client who I was barely gonna see for my two visits that week mind you the first week I was given a client who already had a established caregiver I was just filling in . all in all I get the concept of the agency however they want to pay the lowest rate for work , lied about what was being talked about during orientation and when confronted your dismissed & literally do not want to have a conversation . please look elsewhere they're other agencies that have a better work load & better standards. read more

When Honor (San Francisco) took over ("merged with") a small, independent agency that was doing exceptional work, the new reconfigured agency became just another corporate company serving the bottom line. On more than one occasion, Honor has left my very ill 93-year-old Uncle without care when one of their caregivers had to cancel their shift. The most recent incident occurred when they contacted me at 6:50am to inform me that they didn't have a caregiver for the 7am shift (which was to begin in 10 minutes). The perfunctory communication came with an insincere apology and dismissal. No further communication was extended as I scrambled to find a last minute caregiver. The management at Honor likes to say that they take the needs of their clients "seriously," but it's lip service. They do what's convenient for them and don't live up to their promises. They also increase their rates, on average, every 6 months. Do not for any reason hire Honor for your caregiving needs. Your loved ones will suffer for it and you'll pay an exorbitant amount of money (more than other agencies) for the disservice and disrespect. They're the absolute worst. read more

My Auntie has alzheimer and we used Honor for 2 yrs. There are good and not so good about Honor. When we first started working with Honor I really liked them, compared to the agency prior. As time went on, their support went downhill. I first want to say, that it is very hard to find good caregivers and there are not enough to cover the demand. And, there are pros and cons between agencies and independent caregivers. We all have to do our due diligence and do our homework, and find what works for our personal situations. My feeling is that they wanted to be #1 more than they wanted anything else. They have grown very fast in a short amount of time and everything else suffered. We all should make our own decision and do what is best for our own situations. I think their billing system was the worst. I'd never seen one like theirs and never liked it. They wanted a credit card on file to be charged on a daily basis and tried to charge for things without in forming the client 1st. read more

It should be noted that I actually did use their service. I should have just backed out after the initial phone call, but I spoke with a few reps. within the company and they were sincere in their apology and explained that their sales process is still getting worked out. The caregivers they sent were ridiculous. One person went ahead and ate lunch, breakfast, and numerous snacks that were purchased for my elderly mom. I was fine with it for the first few times, but it kept happening. The next situation made me furious. We have Nest cameras set up in case one of my parents takes a fall. The caregiver... she was not moving, she pulled her hood over her head from her jacket, sat on the couch and did not move for 30+ minutes. All this occurred literally 15 minutes after she arrived. The instructions left for the caregiver were to provide companionship for my mom. Not only did this person not talk to my mom, provide meals, or ensure safety. She FELL ASLEEP on the couch while my mom sat alone in her bedroom and I sent a screen shot from the camera feed to the customer service rep. showing that she has literally fallen asleep while on the job. Customer service brought someone else over about 45 minutes to an hour later and comped the visit. I appreciated the effort to do right as a business, but with the sleeping and waiting for a new rep. nearly half of the visit was over. The emergency replacement was kind and I was thankful for that, but the caregivers sent in for service are less than ideal 85% of the time and having someone constantly new to explain things over and over to is also frustrating. I'd steer far away from this home care agency. They cared for my elderly aunt last year and the incidents that took place under their care were horrific. For example, one time they claimed to have a staffing issue and were not able to provide continuous care. The overnight shift caregiver purposely left the front door unlocked with a wheelchair bound elderly person alone in the house for 3 hours just so the next caregiver could get in. We're in the San Francisco Bay Area. With all the crimes that have taken place in the last few years, they thought it was a good idea to leave a disabled elderly person in the house with the front door unlocked. Another incident involves another caregiver not helping my aunt up when she fell onto the floor. It's been a few months since we stopped using Honor but the entire family is still traumatized by what they did. We're now having to seek legal action against them. read more

I am pleased that Honors has someone come every time, no absences for my mother's Care at her home. Also I love the electronic updates after the caregivers visit. I am disappointed that I have three different people for 3 days for a few weeks of care for my mother. Then a new crew of caregivers for a few weeks. I would like one single person! We have to constantly reteach the caregivers where things are located and what clothes are dirty, where to wash them, and where items are kept. I want to offer praise for Honor Hone Care. My Dad needed 24 hour care after he became critically ill with pneumonia in February. The level of care provided by Honor was outstanding and the caregivers became like family to us. They truly cared about my Dad and always went the extra mile to make sure he was well taken care of. We had been using Catholic Charities for several years for my Mom. Then Honor took over. I was very impressed with the Honor representative Chris Braun,who came to our house to tell us about Honor. He was very professional and caring. He kept in contact with us. We were able to keep the same caregiver, Gina who we had with Catholic Charities. She came twice a week for 4 hours. I appreciated that she always wrote a report when she left so that my siblings and I could see what they did that day and what she ate. Gina was very caring and let us know if there was a problem. After my discharge from hospital, my family hired Honor as the home healthcare provider to provide a home care-giver to help my recovery at home. Lawrence was the care-giver assigned to us. It was the first time we used such service, four hours per workday for 4 weeks. The experience was excellent and we used the home care service till I had gained adequate independence. Lawrence was a conscientious care provider: He was eager to help and be useful. He anticipated my needs and offered the needed assistances proactively. Yet, he was careful to be intrusive, allowed me rooms to be independent that helped the recovery process. He at time offered to drive me to treatment appointments at his own expenses as a gesture of goodwill. My family was grateful for his friendship beyond a business deal. I started using Honor Home Care back in January of 2018. I am still using Honor Home Care. I have two Care Professionals, Gladys and Bella. They are absolutely wonderful, caring, and helpful young ladies. Honor was recommended to me by the skilled nursing facility where I stayed for 3 months. Nightmare!! The clerical side of things was fine, but some of the workers were horrible. 1. Crashed the car on the side of the garage. Did not report the damage. 2. I understand that. If it was just a matter of denying service I would not have issue. However, there was an initial phone screening where the client was described to your staff as an autistic adult in great detail. We were told by the person on the phone that you are able to meet his needs. "This is what we do." In addition ( and perhaps most important) a staff member came to our home and met the autistic adult IN PERSON and did an assement on him. We spent an hour amswering about him. We were again told. "This is what we do." Never even hinted that there would be a problem. Again, AFTER MEETING HIM IN PERSON!! We signed a contract, we logged on the website and saw that caregivers were assigned. All of this took course over 6 days. Then, a day and have before service was to begin we were called and told you were denying service. When we reminded the company that we had a signed contract, we were told that doesn't mean anything. We don't have to follow it. Yes, thank goodness we were able to find another option (doesn't make you any less guilty). We had to get everyone we know frantically calling everyone they know on a Saturday night hoping someone would pick up the phone. You should be ashamed of yourself. There are a few things that people should know about Honor before signing up. We have been using the service for my husband for more than 2 months now. He needs care 2 days a week, plus extra days when I have to be out of town. For the 22 days we requested care to date, Honor has sent 13 different care providers. Eight of those were excellent and we marked them as favorites, which I thought meant they would come back. Here's the problem -- and it's a big one for anyone whose care is complex and/or who needs consistency: Honor will not tell alert you if a provider has been changed. More than once I've opened the door to find a stranger. That meant I needed to spend time explaining my husband's needs and orienting the provider to our home and routines. But this also happened when I was away, so I was not around to train the person. In essence we were paying for a "body" who was not prepared to do what my husband needed. Yes, you can go to the website and log in to see who is coming. But how would you know to do that? More than once I checked the website in the morning only to learn later that a care provider had been changed later that same day. Why can't I get a text, email, or phone call to say "the scheduled care provider has been changed; please check the website for details"? How hard can that be to set up? I've complained about this numerous times to no avail. And now Honor is raising its rates, which were already high. We will be looking for help from a different agency that can provide better communication. read more

Our family has enjoyed a special relationship with our Honor care professionals. While my 86 year old mother has not required the kind of medical assistance for which Honor is best known, she is housebound due to COPD and emphysema difficulties and counts on Honor's assistance in maintaining a healthy home environment. She especially enjoys her care visits as opportunities to share her stories and the news of the day. We have two care professionals visiting three times a week. Melissa takes great care for her needs two of those days, and Briana spends a good deal of her time with small household items and enjoyable conversations. Both care givers perform the irreplaceable service of driving her to and from medical appointments and performing short shopping trips for her weekly needs. My mother has often expressed her enjoyment and gratitude for Honor's personal attention to her individual needs and care. She has told me that she wouldn't know what to do without their visits. Overall my experience was ok, but I don't think my care giver was too experienced. She came an hour late to the pickup time from my doctor's office because she thought that she was picking me up from my home. I specifically went over when and where to be picked up. She arrived in an Uber, which was uncomfortable because the driver had to ask me what type of surgery I just had, and I felt like my privacy was being violated. She has a car so I'm not sure why she didn't drive to pick me up. When we got home, I asked for an Advil and she gave me a different painkiller which was much stronger. It wasn't serious for my situation, but i could see this being serious for another patient with very specific drug intake. The next caregiver that was supposed to come after her either forgot the appointment or didn't know about it because we repeatedly had to call her after she didn't arrive on time. i eventually cancelled the visit because she was already half an hour late and I didn't need too much help. The pricing is very affordable so I recommend it for people who need some assistance but I would not expect high-quality caregiving. read more

I have used Honor for the past year for both my parents after trying two other agencies. Hands down, they're the best. When we needed emergency 24-hour coverage for my dad after a hospitalization, Honor made it happen. I wouldn't necessarily say all those folks would have made the best daily care givers on an ongoing basis, but we had boots on the ground at a moment's notice which is what we needed at the time. In terms of daily care, we've been able to choose which care pros to have back on a regular schedule and all of them are competent, self-directed, and effective. I recognize on my end that I can't offer an optimal schedule for most folks (4 hours blocks instead of 8 or 12), but even so Honor has been able to get us good people on a regular schedule, both of which are essential. In addition, my dad's care is supplemented by insurance and Honor takes care of all the invoicing to make sure we get repaid, something which the other agencies didn't do (and makes my life so much easier). After spending hours filling out paperwork, talking with them on the phone, signing a contract, and finally meeting at our home with one of their staff, they sent out a totally inappropriate caregiver for my mother, and she told the person to leave. We agreed to try again, as Honor had agreed to send out different caregivers until we found the right fit. (They don't allow you to interview potential candidates.) Absurdly, they sent the very same person the second time, and my mother told her to leave again, of course. I guess this works well for Honor, because we have to pay for the entire scheduled time, while the caregiver exits after one hour and presumably is assigned elsewhere. Do not use this service. Unlike some others who make promises and claims which are sometimes exaggerated or forgotten once you have signed, Honor has kept their promises and lived up to their obligations. After a glowing start over a year ago, I have lost all faith in Honor. They don't live up to their commitments. I have had repeated cancellations the day of or the night before a scheduled visit for one reason or another. (This is especially disconcerting when it is during or around a holiday after confirmations have been given and plans have been made. It causes a domino effect of disruption and changes, as well as detriment to over-all well-being.) I have given more chances to them than I care to any longer. An elderly dementia patient requires continuity of care. So does his/or her family. Plans are made around confirmed schedules. We have been using Honor for 5 months. They are one of two agencies that were vetted by my mother's senior facility. I like that they guarantee someone for the 2 shifts needed. They have been very good communicating with me when a caregiver would be running late or that they had to change out a caregiver at the last minute. I like that I can check which caregiver is scheduled, and historical billings online. I like that the caregivers provide detailed reports which I receive via email at the end of their shifts. This is very helpful to assess how my mother is doing. The people on the customer service line are always pleasant, and quite helpful. While we have had a series of care givers, most of whom are okay to good (however, we haven't met all of the ones that have come, especially during the night shift, or stayed while the caregivers are there), there are two which my mother and I both think are very good - Ashley and Evelyn. They are professional, efficient, and kind. Two things my mother especially likes about them is that they are responsive to my mother's requests (and my mother is nice and is not a demanding type), and knowing her habits, they actually anticipate her needs. Even some of the senior facility staff and friends at the facility have remarked that Ashley "was the best one". We wish that we could have them more often but not sure how to go about making that request or if it is possible, as I know caregivers are often going to school or have other established clients. I do wish online, there was more of a sliding scale of hearts to differentiate how much we like a caregiver compared to others, or a way to make such a request. But we do realize scheduling all clients and all caregivers is not an easy task. While my mother needs monitoring (keeping her up on food and water intake, exercises, and some fall prevention) more than doing tasks, I do appreciate the caregivers from Honor, as it gives me some peace of mind that nothing too bad will happen to her, as someone is near. I encountered and emergency situation when a friend, the adult son caring for his 100 year old mother and 75 year old brother was suddenly hospitalized. I called Honor and withing hours a care pro was at the house. During the first few hours Honor was able to give me a 24/7 schedule of care pros to come into the house and care for the elderly residents. The care pros were kind and very competent in providing care. The situation was not ideal and yet within a week the house was cleaned and the odors eliminated. Best of all was the steady and kind companionship the care pros provided. The software utilized gave me an update of each shift and beyond that the care pro called me if there was anything they needed. A very difficult situation was made manageable by the very professional staff in the office and the care pros in the home. read more

The people that Honor sent to my home to help with my husband, who has Parkinson's and needs a great deal of help due to very reduced mobility (he is temporarily in assisted living during a remodel), were without exception competent, kind, reliable, and good-humored. Most of them went above and beyond the basics of caregiving and took on household tasks without being asked. Once my husband is able to spend time at home, I will be counting on their services once again. Honor will do their best to not only accommodate changes or more instructions, but often someone will call you to find out more details on how they can improve the situation. Since I have siblings, the visit summary that is sent to all family members on the emailing list helps us know what happened that day. If there isn't enough detail regarding areas we siblings want to TRACK over time (what items did our dad eat each meal? what type of physical activity? did he accept a shower?), we can request it directly from the caregiver (which will be the same person if you schedule 20+ hrs./week), or contact Honor to add more caregiver instructions which is usually read by caregiver before each visit. Our acct. mgr Sergio takes the initiative to periodically call myself and one other "primary" sibling(or family member) to see how things are going. We are so lucky to have outstanding caregiver Mexi since she has excellent "people" skills and can also manage our mom (who is a controlling spouse with a difficult personality and short memory). Mexi can read body language well since my dad can't speak due to his stroke, and can encourage him gently to do things he doesn't want to do (exercise, take a shower, etc.), but doesn't force him to do it if he insists on any particular da. We appreciated her suggestions on which assistive equipment we could consider buying as my dad's condition deteriorated (commodes, chairs, etc.) I also appreciated Rhea's call to me while regular acct. mgr Sergio was on vacation during a situation where there was miscommunication regarding something, since one of the many Honor phone receptionists had accidentally not read all the notes before making a decision.
