Can't say enough about our stay(s) at Honor Mansion. Every time it just gets better and better. Steve, Cathi, Natalie, Amanda, and the entire staff were just the most lovely people. We stayed in Squire's Cottage the first time and the Vineyard Suite the last time. Both rooms were beautiful. The Suite had a outdoor bath, I think we took a million baths during our stay and each time soaked for 2 hours. So relaxing and wonderful. Honestly, it was everything we could do to tear ourselves away from "home" and go out to explore. We will continue to celebrate our anniversary every year at Honor Mansion! Some things that are just impossible to write in paragraph form: -fireplaces in the rooms -huge bathroom -delicious breakfast, different menus daily -SERVICE: my goodness, they don't miss a beat! When we returned from breakfast, our bed was made and the place tidied, how did they do that so fast?!? We never said they were cheating us or any of his other snide comments this man has stated. He makes up whatever he chooses to make him sound reasonable and honorable. There is no "honor" in Honor Mansion. Why not be truthful. It's sad that he has to do this. I voiced my frustration with the multiple changes and made no threats whatsoever. But I am grateful for his suggestion to stay somewhere else as we have booked a lovely place that definitely know customer service and how to treat clientele. read more

Wow. Relaxing, Pretty and Delicious breakfasts First, I want to start with the service. Steve and Lupita were amazing. I have never stayed in a bed and breakfast before. However, I can't imagine this level of service is the norm. Steve walks around in the mornings and serves you coffee, breakfast and clears your plate. He truly made us feel special. His knowledge of the Sonoma / Napa area is amazing, He has relationship with SOO many vineyards. He doesn't just push you to those vineyards though. He will suggest many others and has a passion for the area and its infectious. Thank you Steve for making our trip amazing. Many tastings were complimentary and every vineyard had excellent things to say about the Honor Mansion. Lupita was our concierge. She helped with booking private tastings, restaurant reservations, bike rental, directions, etc. She was VERY quick and everything went well. Thanks Lupita for all your help! Having never stayed in a bed and breakfast, I didn't know what to expect. BREAKFAST. Every morning the breakfasts were GREAT! Every morning they were also UNIQUE, no repeats. The house brewed coffee is delicious. Watch out for the Santa Fe bake and the breakfast burritos, you may have a second helping. The daily mimosas were also nice. Can't say enough good things about how we started every day with a nice breakfast, a good morning from Steve and Lupita and some conversations with other guests. They provided a nice picnic basket for us to use each day when we stopped for lunches between tastings. Every afternoon from 4-6pm, local vineyards came in and provided tastings of their wine. Honor also provided a nice appetizer plates featuring cheese, olives, meats, etc. We took the opportunity to get some wine and sit on the pack second floor patio. WE stayed in the camellia room. It was a nice quaint room with a French influence. When we arrived to the room, music was playing and a nice cake was waiting to celebrate my wife's bday. There was also a complimentary bottle of sauvignon blanc from Dutcher Crossings. The bed was very comfortable and there was enough space for us. A few downsides to the room was that we could hear some activity in the kitchen before breakfast and we heard the trucks on the street. Also, its small, but the wi-fi did not work at all. Natalie and the lovely owners (Steve & Cathi), saved us from a horrible experience at another place we booked, with their inviting vibe in a unique, quiet, luxurious inn. Staff was friendly, attentive and helpful with local knowledge in a relaxed manner. This place is ahhhhhmazing! The main house is beautiful! They have the best breakfast I've ever had! Bocce ball court and putting green, plus lots of other activities! They will make reservations for you anywhere you would like to go! We stayed in the squires cottage and it was perfect! The Squires Cottage appears to be more modern than the other rooms! And it has a private parking spot and entry! So nice:) I will be returning very soon! read more

Perfection in customer service and hospitality! By far our favorite place to vacation and THE BEST B & B I have ever stayed in. The grounds are beautiful and expansive and are perfectly manicured. We have stayed in three different rooms, the last one being the Vineyard Suite III and we were there for a week. It's our new favorite room! Another great choice is the Squires Cottage -- it's right off the main house and past the koi pond. Our first trip to Honor Mansion was for my husband's 50th birthday weekend. Having read the reviews, I arrived with high expectations and was pleasantly surprised to see that Honor Mansion had exceeded every one. This really is a wonderful wonderful wonderful place to stay,and you will not be disappointed. It is obvious that they have thought of everything, and they really do have your interests in mind. And I might add that the food is absolutely wonderful!!! If you like good recipes, be sure to purchase the cookbook... their recipes have become favorites of my friends, colleagues, and my church. This was our first visit to wine country and we chose to stay at the Honor Mansion based on a recommendation from a friend. This was officially the best recommendation we have ever received. I can not boast about the service and quality of our stay enough. As far as I'm concerned, there is no other place to stay when visiting wine country. We chose the Wisteria room and had a wonderful time visiting with friends on the private porch over a bottle of wine as the day wound down. Our group thoroughly enjoyed trying the mimosa of the day (or choosing off the standard mimosa menu), savoring the gourmet breakfast, playing boche ball and walking the beautiful grounds. Go here! It seems odd because it is right off the freeway - but you won't even notice! The grounds have a croquet field, a tennis court, and a swimming pool. The hosts will TAKE CARE OF YOU! I love the history, the service, the well appointed rooms... and everything is so flawlessly executed it makes you reluctant to explore the area. We're lucky to live close enough, and decided to spend the very few extra dollars to stay here vs a more affordable spot. Frankly, the value *really* exists here, and it's also got the added benefit of not being near the downtown madness... if you're considering downtown for the convenience, know that it is *WILD* at night and through the AM, with a very urban trash collection experience. Honor Mansion, conversely, is quiet and has gorgeous grounds to wander and play in. What's more, this historic mansion also has updated cottages that offer a very modern and plush experience, if you are worried about creaky staircases or drafty hallways.... Honor Mansion is not that, and they have wonderful rooms for all types of travelers. Incredibly impressed, and it made our quick local business feel like a week's vacation. =) read more

THERE"S NO HONOR AT THIS MANSION! While this is a long story with several horrendous examples of "customer service" - it can be summed up by the following snippits: HORRIBLE MANAGEMENT (difficut to trust, does not honor the word of their own personnel, mildly aggressive attitude, etc), EXCELLENT STAFF (goes to great lengths to make guests happy), NICE PROPERTY (cute koi pond, interesting croquet course, etc) OVER PRICED ROOMS (hard bed, thin walls make rooms noisy, so-so decor) and AGGRESSIVE RESERVATION/USAGE POLICY (changes at whim of the management, possibility of losing your reservation if not checked in within a 3 hr window, etc) makes for this type of analysis... i will never stay there again, and i will spend my money for my next upcoming trip (next month) at another high end property like Hotel Healdsburg, or Maradona Manor! My experience started when i booked a room a week out in high season back in October of 2009, planning to propose to my now wife with a surprise trip into the bay area/wine country (i do not live in CA). Hours after i made the reservation, she landed in the hospital's intensive care unit after a riding accident. With a pneumothorax (hole in her lung) and other major injuries (lacerated kidney, etc), we were restrcted from flying for the next 45 days. So i called the next morning (18 hours after i made the reservation, mind you) to cancel my reservation, which, to my surprise i was told was not possible because they had a no-cancellation policy when rooms were booked a week out! I had to beg, plead and even argue to get the managament to even consider giving me a an option to re-book the place within a year (they originally wanted to refuse me an option to rebook, saying that my booking and then cancelling in less than 18 hours was "costing them money"). I think a place with great customer service would have been flexible from the start, and maybe even thought about sending my fiance to be a nice note saying "get well"... nope - i eventually had to follow up to make sure I got a letter saying that they were going to allowing me to use the credit in a year (b/c my trust for the property was serevery damanegd from this first interaction) A year goes by, and we are close to our wedding. I call asking to book 2 nights after our wedding as a mini-honeymoon with a 3 week notice. I'm told that they won't release any rooms for 2 nights until a week before (many rooms are typically held for 3 or more nights), and only if its still available... (i have this message from their staff recorded on my phone!). OK - fine. No warm and fuzzies, but they were nice about it. I call the day after my wedding (5 days out) to book the upcoming friday/saturday - and I am told the room is available, but i am not allowed to use it because they require 3 nights and that they NEVER allow 2 night bookings in advance. I ask to speak to the owner, and after heated words between us (can you understand why i'm frustrated?) i was told on the phone "don't bite the hand that feeds you" and I was refused to allow to book the room that i was just told was available moments ago, and the rules by which their staff member left me on my voice mail two weeks earlier. I even went as far as sending the voicemail left by their staff to the management so they knew i wasn;t crazy - but the response i got in an email was "we are in receipt of this note, however, nothing has changed..." I could go on and on about how this feels so unjust, that it feels like they are purposefully not even acknowleding their own policies, but eventually - we decide that losing $800 is not worth it. So we finally go there (with my wife having to book a more expensive room)... but to make things even crazier - when we make friends with some of the other guests there and tell them the same story - they relate to me how they were able to book 2 nights 6 weeks out! They also related how posts on Yelp mentioned similar stories of frustration... I am surprised that any place that calls themselves a "4 diamond property" wouldn't expect that consumer interactions like this won't affect their business! The management made two seperate statements to me over my two interactions along the lines of: "you don't know how to run my business." In the course of my rebooking, it also looks like their prices had to come down by 15% since last year... if the Honor Mansion keeps this kind of attitude up - maybe prices will come down again next year! Again - in my opinion, i believe there are far better places to stay in Headsburg - so unless you don't care about money, i'd avoid the Honor manion and find someplace else with more honor! Incredible place and impeccable service. We stayed in the large private garden suite with our own parking, patio, jacuzzi etc. Tracy and the entire staff were fantastic. The weekend was cold and rainy but we still were able to enjoy the grounds and much of what it had to offer. Love the option to play tennis, mini golf, bocce ball and other activities. Will definitely have to come back during the sunny season. The grand mariner French toast was phenomenal and variety of mimosas as well. We did experience some minor issues during our stay but nothing major (fireplace and fridge going out etc) but the staff more than made up for any inconveniences we encountered and went above and beyond to make things right. Their level of customer service is a rarity these days and we would recommend their property and services to anyone. Very relaxing and romantic! read more

I came here to celebrate my boyfriend's birthday and we had a wonderful, relaxing, romantic weekend. We warned them that we would be arriving after their staff had left (8pm) and they left a key and a welcome letter in a lockbox for us. We were pleasantly surprised with a complimentary bottle of wine, crackers, cheese and fruit, and a birthday cake waiting for us in the room. We stayed in the Angel Oak Room and loved the private deck overlooking the pool. Breakfast, fresh cookies, and afternoon appetizers were all delicious! Steve was very helpful on our first morning and helped us plan out what we wanted to do and recommended some of his favorite wineries. We just got back from our first visit to Honor Mansion. It will not be our last. We loved the place and all that it involved.....Not always B&B lovers, this is so much more than that. We've stayed here twice -- it's a bit of hybrid between a resort and a B&B. While I'm typically not a huge fan of B&B's (since they can feel a tad bit old), Honor Mansion is really well maintained and just outstanding in so many ways! The second time we stayed there we were in Vineyard Suite and I highly recommend that over the other rooms. It's a bit newer and more private/spacious being physically separated. Honor Mansion is the kind of place you can just show up without any plans and the staff with just take care of you the whole way. Tracy was amazing throughout and set us up with an in-room massages, recommended restaurants, booked appointments at wineries, and gave us picnic gear and told us where to go. They wanted to get to know us, and you simply don't get this same level of personalized service at your typical hotel (even pricey ones). Also little things like coffee delivered to our room, great cookies, and an patio hot tub were so nice. And of course Healdsburg is just a wonderful area to visit and go wine tasting! read more

My husband and I stayed at HM for the first time this past weekend upon the recommendation of a friend and a lot of online research. Let me start by saying that I am not a big B&B person typically - the idea of minimal privacy, forced socialization, cramped Grandma-like quarters, etc. is just not my thing. Well, this place combined every alluring aspect of a B&B with the privacy, maintenance and amenities of a five store resort. I could write pages, but in a nutshell, this place is fantastic. We had a huge cottage/suite that was bigger than my first apartment with a front porch, side porch, and big back porch with a nice jacuzzi. Everything in the room was clean, really well maintained, with easy parking right next to our room. Tons of storage inside the room and mini kitchen area stocked with plates and supplies. Shower had showerheads at each end (surprise!) and even great storage in the bathroom. The location is great, less than a mile from Healdsburg Plaza so we could walk into town even. Service could not have been better, but not at all intrusive either. The grounds are impeccable - gorgeous pool, cabanas, vegetable garden, lounge area, croquet grounds, bocce ball courts, tennis courts, putting green, tennis, etc. ALL are perfectly maintained (decks, cushions, everything looked new and very clean) and surrounded by rose gardens - I cannot overstate this - it looks like there must be a team of full time ground-maintenance crews but yet you do not see them. Cool little things too, like all sports equipment is easily accessible and there are even laminated instructions near each game. Enough about the place itself - the details and special touches are what made this place an A+. WIthout listing them all, they are: really comfortable bed, soft linens, daily coffee and biscotti delivered to our doorstep in a basket, we had a cake in our room waiting for us when we arrived since it was an anniversary celebration (which was really yummy!), the hotel shipped our wine back for us, movies available to borrow, INCREDIBLE Breakfast (different each day - the eggs benedict, the special recipe bacon, and french toast all unique recipes and outstanding) and 7 different kinds of mimosas (special one for each day), daily happy hour on the beautiful side deck off the main house (with koi pond off) offered fresh baked cookies, cheese, crackers, and a local winery featuring a couple wines for free daily btw 5-6. This was my favorite part of each day. The owner Steve could not have been nicer and had some really great recommendations for wineries to visit. Oh and they have spa services available if you have time (we did not, sadly). I cannot wait to go back. read more

This was our first time in Healdsburg and our first stay at a B&B! It was a true delight. My husband and I went on a weekend getaway for my 40th birthday, we had no agenda or reservations. We found the Honor online and my husband called, the young lady was so sweet and informed us that they had a drop in rate. She said come take a peek and see if it is something you would like. I will say my husband was a bit weary of the B&B experience, so he was so pleasantly surprised when we walked in. We ended up staying in the Squires Cottage! We loved our entire experience. The staff was wonderful, the breakfast was wonderful, the delivery of the coffee basket was wonderful, they took care of all our needs. I cannot say enough about it! I cannot wait to go back. If you are looking for a great B&B, or our a first timer, try the Honor...they will not disappoint! You'll be begging for more! Thanks to all the staff for our weekend! read more

This place was fabulous from the second we walked in the door until we left. We celebrated our one year anniversary here, and walked into a room with a small sign wishing us happy anniversary and a house made cake (with all the necessary tools for serving and eating) waiting for us. Everything in the house and in our room was impeccable and the staff was welcoming, gracious, and extremely professional. These people take comfort and luxury very seriously and it shows. I won't go on and on but I will say that I have no trouble recommending this place without any reservations. You get your money's worth here and then some. And all of this from someone who stayed Jan. 30th and New Year's eve while is was cold and raining. We really didn't get to enjoy all of the amenities this place would have to offer on a sunny summer or spring day. We will be back to enjoy the pool, bocce ball, tennis, and leisurely breakfasts on the patio. Anyway, thanks Honor Mansion for a memorable 1st Anniversary. July 19, 2010 My wife and I recently returned from 2 heavenly days at The Honor Mansion in Healdsburg. We decided to use Healdsburg as our take-off point for exploring Sonoma and were very pleased that we did. It is an interesting town with lots of authentic non-touristy places to explore and superb dining at restaurants like the Dry Creek Kitchen (incredible halibut). There are many wineries with in 30 minutes and it is also easy to drive to the beautiful coast, which we did. The Honor Mansion is a very high-end Inn, almost like a B and B, and we chose it after reading many laudatory reviews on various sites. It actually exceeded our expectations in all respects. I am saying this from the perspective of an experienced traveler who has stayed at many outstanding properties throughout the world. The view from the street is unassuming and does not really hint at the gorgeous interiors and grounds. There is an extensive property behind the main Inn which includes a croquet pitch, garden, fairly slow putting green, pool, massage tables and small vineyard. We chose the Vineyard 4 room which was beautifully furnished, had a large bathroom with double sink, exterior private deck with hot-tub, circulating ceiling fan in addition to the air conditioning, beautiful bed with a nice firm mattress and nice CD player with external speakers. My wife's first comment upon seeing the room was: "let's move in". Coffee was at our door each morning at the arranged time and then we partook of a superb buffet breakfast with places scattered around the Inn or on the adjacent patio. The owners, Steve and Cathi Fowler were present and extremely gracious and accommodating when it came to requests for information, directions or recommendations for wineries or restaurants. Besides the wonderfully tasteful environment and the friendliness of the entire staff, the most memorable feature of this top-end place was the attention to detail. this was apparent from the moment of arrival when we were presented with a very comprehensive and clear package. Another nice touch was the always available cappuccino machine and scrumptious biscuits . What a strange long weekend at the Honor Mansion. To be fair it is a very nice property apart from proximity to the 101. There are numerous water features to mask any highway noise. Upon arrival the front door was opened about 6 inches and the woman said welcome. Her body language said something else. Apparently the owner (Steve) is paranoid that there are unregistered people planning to injure themselves on his property and take his business away. We fully appreciate a desire to maintain a quiet atmosphere. We were in town for my son's wedding and when my son and daughter-in-law came by to discuss the ceremony they were treated rudely at the door. Similar to an earlier review they were told they could not eat anything. They did not come to eat. I discussed this treatment with the owner and found the staff to be much nicer the rest of the weekend. This property is on total lock-down. This is not a bad thing if you are there as a couple but don't invite anyone back that you meet wine tasting. We understand business risk but the attitude at the Honor Mansion is unlike anything we have experienced in small hotels around the world. Hospitality (noun), Hospitable reception, treatment, or inclination. Dennis N PS. One more thing. We had multiple rooms. Read carefully before you book as the terms will vary. They are not at all flexible. But you already know that. After a lengthy and angry rebuttal (with plenty of spin) from the owner my review and his rebuttal disappeared. I'm not sure how that was done. I believe my review was balanced. Let me be clear there is nothing wrong with Honor Mansion that an attitude shift or change of ownership wouldn't fix. The staff is only responding to the owner's directions. The purpose of writing a review is to give the business feedback and potential patrons useful information. We had 4 rooms and they had 60 and 90 day cancelations. Terms will vary. When my son canceled the owner held us to our reservation 88 days out (his right) but was nasty to the hotel owner that called on our behalf (not his right). There is a pattern of attacking any patron that writes less than a glowing review. The enduring mystery for us is why somebody like this would choose the hospitality industry. read more

The Honor Mansion is an amazing B&B. Upon arrival we were warmly welcomed and shown around the property. We then settled into the Tower Suite before heading to the main house for the wine, which is served daily at 4:00 and the cheese and crackers that are served at 5:00. WOW is all I can say. I have traveled all over the nation & few cities over seas and I have never had the whole experience as I had at the Honor Mansion. The staff and the owners are very professional, encouraging and informative. I felt like I made some friends there. The grounds were immaculate with the small vineyard, the two Bocce Ball Courts, Tennis Courts, Swimming Pool, Putting Green and more.....you will need a few days to explore all it has to offer. Plenty of window shopping to do in the gorgeous Nor Cal weather in downtown Healdsburg. The owners are very hands on and want to make your experience the best it can be. Beware the onerous pay-in-advance, 90 day no refunds cancellation policy. Forced to cancel on 2 weeks notice due to my sudden job loss, owner Steve Fowler refused to cancel the booking with even a partial refund, also refusing to permit me to sell the fully paid $2k reservation on Ebay. He had vacancies, so had not turned away business due to my booking. Even so, I offered to pay a substantial penalty. His response- try to "make the best of a difficult situation. It's our policy. I've recorded all our conversations." What a prince!! read more

The room was very clean. The breakfast was absolutely fantastic as well as the staff. We were asked at least 3 times during breakfast if we needed anything and felt like the only people staying there. It was luxurious and the grounds are beautifully kept. It is not a traditional bed and breakfast, so much more is offered here. I would stay here a million times again. read more

Very nice accommodations. My boyfriend and I stayed there a few months ago and we were blown away with how great the grounds and staff where. We were truly treated like royalty. I've stayed here several times starting about 10 years ago when they were less well known. Most recently stayed here with my girlfriend at the time and now we are getting married in Healdsburg. We asked if we could take a peak at the available suite to determine if it was suitable for our wedding week and they curtly rejected us twice. On the first occasion, they asked us to come back after the guests have checked out and when we returned, they said it was not licensed for viewing. The owner's daughter was very rude and they didn't bother to call us back even after they promised to check with the owner's. We wanted to celebrate our wedding week by coming back but I guess they are taking it for granted that customers will automatically come back. We asked the same question at Madrona Manor, Duchamp and Grape Leaf for a quick viewing and everyone was super accommodating and they also never heard of such licensing issues. I think it's an easy cop-out to blame things on a vague legality, "licensing issue". read more

I called to stay there the day of my visit (I live in San Francisco and it was my birthday and my friends were taking me wine tasting). I called in the morning to see if there were rooms and was told there were 3 rooms free and could call back later to book if they were still available. No one told me that if I was not able to check in by 6:40 that I was out of luck...which I easily could have done had I been told this!! I was in town all day. I have a gift certificate there to use, and perhaps because of this they didn't really care about my level of service. I called back on my way to my dinner reservations at 6:30 in Geyeserville to book the empty room and was told they could not check me in after 6:40. I told them it was my birthday and I could be there by 8:30 since I was close to my dinner location by then, but they said sorry, no way. No one even works there after 7pm! The concierge called the owners and they didn't want to help me out. Is that 5-star service? I don't think so. Very disappointed. I will not recommend this place to anyone (and all my friends go up to wine country numerous times a year). read more
