Our sweet Loki passed suddenly and to say it's been one of our families worst day and well into the night isn't enough. We brought Loki home after his condition was not improving during an emergency visit and prepared for plenty of hugs/ kisses before he passed away. It's something that will eventually happen, and it's always a sad occasion. Arranging a cremation for you beloved pet is the furthest thing from your mind until that day happens. Well it happened unexpectedly to my little baby girl. We were heartbroken. I thought of Honor Thy Pet immediately. We've used their services in the past for our first set of beagles. They make all the arrangements incredibly easy for you. Our emergency vet office started the paperwork for us. We selected to have a private cremation. A basic wooden urn comes with the cost of the cremation, but you can select a different one from their brochure or the website. You don't need to do it that day. Honor Thy Pet will call you, or you can contact them yourself (which is what I did). They are open 24/7, and they are there when you need them. They are very compassionate and treat you and your loved one with the utmost respect. I've never had any complaints with them. I ended up getting a wooden urn with a place to put a photo. It was about $90 more to get the Crescent Memorial urn along with the personalized memorial plaque. She is totally worth it. They picked her up from the vet office for cremation. She was then delivered back to that office within 3 days. During COVID-19, you have to stay in your car and call them when you arrive. It was all good because I didn't want to go into the office anyway. I would have cried even more. They brought her out to me all packed up nicely into a silky blue bag with her cremation papers, her clay paw print (provided by Blue Pearl), a heart shaped seed patch, and a packet of scented rosemary. It was so tastefully done. I couldn't have asked for anything better. I would never hesitate to call them again when needed. They have always been wonderful and kind. I lost my Izzy girl during my relocation from AZ to FL. They picked her up from the Airbnb where I was staying and called me about a week later when she was ready to bring home. I recently lost my beloved dog, Denny. We were in a panic and didn't know what to do. Of course, we thought to take him to the hospital but he was gone. As I was frantically looking for someplace to help us, I came across Honor they pet. We were going to bury him in the backyard but it was raining and the ground was soaked. The person that we met with to pick up our pet's ashes kept cracking jokes. It seemed more like a candid camera bad episode instead of a crematorium. We were upset and crying, but the fellow was oblivious. Also, our sweet baby was a boy, and after multiple corrections kept laughing and calling him a girl. I have been cremating my babies since 1995. Each have matching boxes... engraved plaques. In Ohio, we had the honor of going to Pines Pet Cemetery And Cremation Center in New Lebanon. My husband and I are of the mindset that we as parents take the body in... not the vet. It is our parental duty but that's just our opinions. Wow, you talk about a nice cemetery! They have bell towers, a church... statues... Then I, my husband and 5 dogs move to St. Pete, Florida and when the time came, I went to the pet cemetery here in town (Foster's Pinellas Pet Memorial Gardens & Cremation Services). So run down and awful. The first couple of times, the people were nice but after that.... They even lied to me about the price of cremation. That's what you get when you leave me alone with the price list in view after yhou just quoted me a price, folks. Just an awful place. Two weeks ago when a pet passed, I googled and found Honor Thy Pet. MY GOD, where have I been? The only downside is one of the chicks that answers the phone is kinda.... Well, she isn't a good actress. You are suppose to act like you feel my pain, know what I mean? The money they make is put BACK into the business.. the vehicles they arrive, the uniforms. Super professional all the way. My only wish is that they had a less than 1 lb. price. Cremating a fish and say.... a hamster begins at one pound. Hard to find unless you pay attention. Staff friendly, and attentive . Urn was attractive, and sealed with a screw, which can be opened. For my other pets, which were cremated at Fosters, much better choice of urn, and they provided a 2 frame picture frame one for his picture and the other side for his paw print. If I had another pet who had to be cremated I would choose Fosters if I could. I will say Lap of Love was absolutely outstanding with my little guy's euthanasia. Their vet could not have been better, when she came to our home. She gave him a little treat before the relaxation injection, and much time to say goodbye before the last injection. He died peacefully with our hands on him. She took him home with her since it was on Sunday, and dropped him off on Monday to Honor Thy Pet. I have been dealing with a pet with an end-of-life condition. One of the things that was stressing me out initially was trying to figure out what I would do if my pet passed away at home. What do you do in that scenario? I don't have a yard I could do a burial in. Taking his body to the vet's office is an option I suppose but what if they are closed for the night or weekend? When I found out about Honor Thy Pet I was intrigued. They've been in business for over 10 years and are owned/operated by a licensed funeral director. I called them for more information. One of the first things the woman on the phone told me was "Don't worry" and that they could help. You can call them 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year for assistance. They will come to your residence and retrieve your deceased pet for you and arrange for a cremation. Knowing that brought me so much peace of mind and was one less thing that I had to worry about. I also thought the quoted prices were reasonable. I ended up not having to have them come to my residence because I chose to use Lap of Love for in-house euthanasia. However, because I chose the private cremation option Lap of Love took my pet and transferred him to Honor Thy Pet. A few days later I received a phone call from an Honor Thy Pet representative informing me that my pet's ashes had been delivered to my veterinarian's office. The ashes were stored in a tasteful, sealed wooden box. I also received a certificate verifying the private cremation as well as a comforting poem that had my pet's name printed on it. Our wonderful dog Clyde, was diagnosed with a large cancerous tumor in his lung in early March of 2019. We were told he more than likely only had two months to live, but bless his heart he lasted five months. We had researched pet cremations, and found Honor Thy Pet. This company is incredible. They explained what the process was and we made the decision that we would cremate our baby Clyde when the time came and picked out a beautiful urn. We also requested to have Clyde's ashes and urn returned to us rather than going to vets office for an additional fee which was nominal. We made the difficult decision to have Clyde euthanized at home by Lap of Love. Dr. Anna with Lap of Love made the process very painless and peaceful for our baby. Dr. Anna had also contacted Honor They Pet and made arrangements for them to come to our home to pick up Clyde immediately after he was euthanized. The driver for Honor They Pet could not have been more understanding and respectful to Clyde and to us as we were very distraught at the time. The gentleman that delivered Clyde back to us in his urn was amazing and understood how distraught we were. He kept bowing and paying for us which was so sweet. Although we haven't received the cremains back yet I am do fully expect to be pleased from the service we received so far. My dog Molly was put to rest a couple weeks ago. The facility, Fetch, that she was put to rest said that her remains and clay pawprint would be sent to our home. There were discrepancies along the way. "She was sent to your primary vet." The primary said that they do not accept cremations. Fetch was called and she was sent to their facility. Every was picked up from Fetch, apparently it was an extra $80 to have her sent to my home, we were not informed of this. The name was spelled wrong on all of the paperwork and stickers on my Molly's urn. As I was sitting there going through the urn, pawprint and lock of hair the last name was spelled wrong. Such a disappointment from having to "find" my daughter to get her remains. There was also a long black piece of hair in the mesh bag that her pawprint was in. Very disappointing when you are going through a loss such as this. read more

I used Honor Thy Pet via Lap of Love. Lap of Love is great, Honor Thy Pet, not so much. My issues with Honor Thy Pet are: not honoring my request, not effectively communicating, having folks answering the phone who don't have Information readily available, sitting on their thumbs in lieu of getting my pup back to me in a timely fashion and having a facility/grounds that are so poorly maintained that it's reminiscent of something from Sanford and Son. My dog passed away on May 6, 2022 and was delivered to Honor Thy Pet around 7:30 PM. I asked the vet to let Honor Thy Pet know that I didn't want any teeth ground up. The vet said teeth don't normally remain intact after the cremation process, but she would add my request to her write up. I told her I understand they may not remain intact but I still didn't want any fragments ground up--she apparently noted this discussion on the write up provided to Honor Thy Pet. Based on the Honor Thy Pet guy who came to address this, after the Lap of Love rep couldn't, he said their interpretation of what was written on this form was that I understood the teeth probably wouldn't be in tact so they ground what was left after the cremation. The guy told me I should have requested the cremains not be processed. I said don't grind up the teeth, so if that is the same as don't process the cremains then, why the flip were they processed? If there was confusion, which there obviously was, why didn't someone reach out to me before putting the cremains in the grinder? This leads me to their timeliness in having the cremains returned to me. My dog was cremated some time between 8-midnight (remember, he was dropped off around 7:30 PM, so he was only there a few hours) and then processed--I'm just guessing the cremation and processing of the cremations is the most time consuming part of the process. So, when I called Monday morning to ask when I could pick up my dog, I was told Thursday at the earliest. When I asked why, because I already knew he had been cremated Friday night, I was told there is a "process" and that takes days. Something was mentioned about making sure everything was done correctly, which we already know wasn't, and that there was no misappropriation, which there was. There was also mention of making sure I received the correct cremains and that they are tracked by a number. Considering the brass plate with the identification number was with my dog's cremains and that I expect that it remained with the cremains once put in the plastic bag, I'm not sure what needed to be verified. The only time a mix up could occur was while the remains cooled down, so.... I have no idea if the cooling process occurs in or out of the machine, but it makes sense that the remains would be put in the bag with the brass tag attached as soon as they were cool enough to insure there was not a mix up. Engraving was also used as an excuse for me needing to wait six days to pick him up after already being cremated. Engraving isn't done by hand, so I see this as a bogus reason and this is done in-house. I realized after the vet left that I hadn't clipped any whiskers from my dog. Not thinking anyone was there to cremate my dog nor answer the phone Friday evening, I called Saturday morning. The person who answered the phone was very nice, but clueless to the status of my dog (you'd think the process for this sort of thing would be tracked in a database of some sort). When she called me back, she said he had been cremated shortly after he was dropped off, so my bad for not getting the whiskers before he left the house. However, I did ask abt the my request for teeth not to be ground down and she said she saw this in the notes and told me my request would be honored. As noted above, it wasn't. So, six days after he was cremated, I went to pick him up. If the receptionist hadn't mentioned there being diamonds on the building, I would NEVER have found it. There was no sign on the building telling me this was Honor Thy Pet, the parking lot, if you can call it that, looked like a junk yard with cars randomly parked wherever and weeds everywhere! I had to ask the Frontier guy standing at the door, waiting to be let in, if this place is a crematorium because it looked so raggedy, I couldn't possibly believe this is a place where humans and pets are cremated--I have been to other crematoriums and none have resembled this place. My experience with Honor Thy Pet was an unfortunate end to an otherwise beautiful life lived by my dog. Fosters crematorium was recommended to me, but I don't believe it it was an option through Lap of Love. read more

I am devastated. The paw print they gave me back was not my dog and we paid extra for the ashes to be an individual cremation so we could be sure we were getting our dog. But now we dont even know if the ashes we got was our dog, its just a very upsetting situation! If we paid for it we should be certain it is the correct ashes. They told us they squash the dogs paw down so it spreads out, but all the spreading in the world would not of made her paw print that big. She was tiny and the paw print is just not even close, no matter how hard you do the imprint. I appreciate the on time service. However, we received a text from Honor Thy Pet asking us to call them concerning our beloved pet as soon as possible. I didn't know what to think I thought something had gone wrong. However, when I called the number given I got a woman by the name of Shelley or Shelby who asked for my information and was very oblivious to her tone on the phone. It was not a caring tone but a bored secretary tone (ex: what's your pets name? (Blank)? (Blank)...hm....let me look it up.) And then finally after waiting she said "Oh yeah, we just wanted to see if you wanted to upgrade your urn" I was absolutely baffled. They had me go out of my way to call them to see if I wanted to 'upgrade' on the 'package' I had already purchased. This is NOT a cable package. This was my baby. She wasn't sympathetic and never once said I'm sorry for your loss. When I told her I'd like to say this is an inappropriate call and where I understood she was just following what she was told, that I wished she could pass on to her superiors that a pamphlet or a better explanation while I was choosing what to do with my pet was a more appropriate time then to call 4-6 days into mourning and try to see if I wanted a more decorative urn' She cut me off and said she could pass me to a supervisor. She sounded urgent and panicked like she had done something wrong and while I was remaining calm through the demeanor I tried to explain I was not trying to yell at her or scold but simply trying to make a suggestion that would be easier on a grieving pet owner. Yet, she simply transferred me in the middle of my sentence to a supervisor. The supervisor also sounded on edge and simply barked an apology that did not seem sincere. At this point I began to cry as these people had drudged up my sadness and while I tried to explain I just simply wasn't expecting somebody to call me to try to upgrade to decorative urns like some car salesman and that I would have appreciated a more direct option in the beginning. She tries to say it was the vets fault because apparently usually they do give options in the beginning with a pamphlet. Then...what was the purpose of this call? She then mentioned 'Well your pet is at the vet anyways so you can call them and see about picking them up." And with a brief goodbye hung up. I have never felt so hurt from a phone call in my life. I understand that this is a very delicate business they run and that I am mourning but you'd think they would be more compassionate. read more

I am a night shift worker, so knowing there is a service available 24 hours, where they can come to my home, is an amazing relief during a difficult time. They have helped make so many tough periods of my life easier just by being available. They are a professional, sympathetic service, and I would recommend them to any pet owner faced with a difficult thing such as loss. I would also say do not pass up on options such as a paw print made of your loved one and a clipping of their fur. We sadly lost our wonderful rabbit Sunshine and wanted to always keep her with us. I did a local search and found Honor Thy Pet. We could not be more happier and grateful for the kindness the staff showed us. We called 3 AM on a Sunday and they picked up Sunshine only 90 minutes later. A few days later we picked her up and everyone was so nice. A year ago today I lost my heart, my beautiful Betty Boop "Pud" as we called her. She was my everything. Pud saved my life, literally and had a personality that made you think she was part human. But Pud had one bad habit I couldn't break, she loved to chase trucks. We had just moved to Lakeland 3 weeks prior and our yard was fenced, we had walked it before letting her loose and she was always fine back there before this day. Somehow though, and we still don't know where or how, she got out, went exploring, chased a truck and...... At 9lbs you would think she would be terrified of something so large but she had the personality of a giant. The man that struck her stopped and held her crying until she passed. She wasn't outside for a half hour before I went to call her in and when I realized she was gone I panicked, my heart sank and she wasn't a block away when it happened. I knew I was NOT going to bury her, I wanted her cremated but being new to town had no clue where to go. I was so hysterical I couldn't talk so my daughter, who lives on the east coast of Florida, hit the internet and started calling vets - where we are from that's who you contact for cremation. Every single one was either rude or just couldn't be bothered, they all wanted exorbitant amounts for the service and you had to make an appointment to take your fur baby to them then they would call in about 6 weeks for you to pick them up - so cold for a family member. Then my daughter comes across Honor Thy Pet - Angels in disguise is more like it!! Warm, caring, loving, answered the phone immediately, told her they would pick up my precious baby so I didn't have to drive, treated us as though we DID just lose a family member and for such a reasonable price we couldn't believe it. Within an hour and a half this nice gentleman was at my home, had a nice warm cute blanket to wrap Pud in if she didn't have one (of course she did), told me I could take all the time I needed to say goodbye, told me about the wonderful things they offered and do like paw prints, a clipping of fur, Urns if you need one or if you have something else you want to put them in they are more than happy to do so, letters to the family, death certificate with all the family's names. He sat there and let me hold my beautiful baby for well over an hour, the whole time just talking calmly and sympathetically. It was well past 11:30pm when I realized this poor man probably had a family to get home to so I asked if I could walk her out to his van and he agreed. He had a nice little box for her with a blanket in the bottom with bones all over it and after I laid her in he buckled her up, gave me a hug and promised to take good care of her. The next day I received a phone call asking how I was doing and letting me know Pud was ok. They explained that they had urns I could have her put in but I didn't want just any urn so they said as soon as I get the one I want bring it in and they will put her in it. Unfortunately it didn't arrive until the day before we picked Pud up but they still put her in for us. When you pick your baby up you don't just show up and get handed a box or urn, you are taken to a grieving room where you have a wonderful caring person sit with you, give you a beautiful letter from Honor Thy Pet, give you your baby and the certificates and if you asked for a paw print and clippings and they allow you time to grieve if you need. I can not say enough great things about Honor Thy Pet and will use their services for any babies I get in the future. I recommend anyone with a fur baby that wants to honor them as you would your human family members - Honor Thy Pet does exactly that. read more
