If you're looking for a dry cleaner in the area, you should take your business elsewhere. I took a formal dress to Honovan's to be cleaned and advised them that it required special care. Unfortunately, the dress was ultimately returned to me ruined and Honovan's was not only very dismissive to me but also refused to take any responsibility. I am now out of a very expensive dress that I would have taken elsewhere if I knew Honovan's was unable to accommodate the special care it required. Please don't make the same mistake that I did. I went to Honovan on a whim because of the reviews. And they were right! Honovan was transparent and really went out of her way to help out. I needed a top altered for a wedding and there was no extra fabric. With the fabric I gave they did such a nice job to incorporate the alteration. You would not even know the top was altered. I've only come here for dry cleaning but Honovan is pretty good. She's very reasonably priced. I don't think she's particularly fast - it takes a few days for my orders. However more importantly she's pretty consistent - if she says Monday it'll definitely be done on Monday. I don't have nightmares where I need something by a certain day only to come by and see that it's not ready yet. I have had a good number of suits and pants altered here. They have never done a bad job and always with a smile. I go out of my way just to bring clothes here because they do such a good job. This is an amazing place for alterations. I have gotten a blazer, trousers, jeans, and shorts tailored here. Every time they fit me absolutely perfectly and they are well made. Also very affordable, and very accommodating. They usually ask you to allow for one week to pick up the alterations, but I had an urgent need to get a pair of pants altered before I left for the weekend out of town, and the lovely lady at the front was kind enough to accept my pants on Wednesday afternoon and they were ready as promised on Friday. Didn't charge me extra for the rush at all (although I did tip to thank them for that generous rush effort on their part). I also get dry cleaning done here, dry cleaning turns out just as you would expect. If you are dry cleaning something that you don't want a pin hole through though, be sure to mention that. They sometimes use pins and this can make tiny holes in fabric. Not super noticeable, but good to keep in mind to mention if you are particular about that. read more

Honovan is great. The woman who takes care of the counter--I assume she's the owner--is very nice. Laundered shirts, boxed, are $1.65 each, a flat-out bargain. Alterations are true and accurate. Honovan is close to my office, which makes it convenient for shirts or an infrequent mishap but almost impossible for regular dry cleaning. I don't mind walking from Copley Square to Brighton with a box of neatly folded shirts but I'm not about to trudge four miles toting an unwieldy collection of clothing, plastic bags and wire hangers. I suppose I could take the T on dry cleaning days but I prefer to stay healthy and keep my sanity. By the way, if you who read this are one of those people who thoughtlessly hang dry cleaning from the rails of crowded subway cars, please remember that the T is public transportation and not your stinkin' closet! read more

Once upon a time, I was fat and continually getting fatter. When this happens, one can spend big money and buy new pants, or spend less money and have existing pants altered. Looking at all the good reviews, I decided to go and trust. I shouldn't. They completely butchered my Burberry suit: - The sleeves are very poorly done, they didn't even align the textile inside - The pants are supposed to be a "blind stich" : What a joke, I see every stich. - They didn't even do the openings for the buttons, and didn't fold the sleeves correctly... This place is great. Really close to my work so super convenient. Honovan (lady who runs the place) is super nice. I don't get my clothes dry cleaned here but get tons of clothes altered. They do a fantastic job and are pretty reasonable. They only accept cash which can be a pain as I never carry cash but overall I highly recommend. I typically pin the pants myself and bring them in (which she appreciates), but for other clothes she has a little dressing room where you can try your clothes on and she will pin for you. read more

I sent a shirt for dry cleaning and a skirt to repair the slit in the back. While the shirt came back fine, the stitching in the skirt was TERRIBLE. Seriously, horrible. I was looking for a shoe repair place in Back Bay and my boss recommended Honovan's. I needed to get the soles/heels of a pair of black leather Ivanka Trump boots repaired. I love these boots and have had them for several years. I dropped them off on Monday and picked them up today. They did an excellent job on the boots and provided excellent service. The soles/ heels look like new and the boots were shined. I have never repaired shoes before so I am not sure if $35 is a good deal. I asked my friend how much she pays to get her boots fixed and she said between $60-100. I will definitely recommend here to people and be back again read more

I do not recommend Honovan for dress alterations. I brought in a bridesmaids dress (http://images.rewardstyle.com/img?v=1.3&p=19085639) to be hemmed and altered at the top. The alterations for the top were great (that's the 1 star). The hem, however, was a disaster. The first time I tried to pick up my dress, I noticed the hemline was jagged. It was zigzagged across the entire bottom, and there was even a vertical cut (See uploaded photo where she had to sew the cut). Granted, it was a very lightweight tool fabric, and the hemline would be near the floor and difficult for anyone to notice cuts in it. However, I still paid a lot for this dress and was upset that it had been butchered. I showed the business owner, and she said she would fix it. So I came back the next day, and it was definitely better, but she was not apologetic whatsoever and became defensive stating that the fabric was really hard to cut. (But isn't this your job?) I then asked for a discount, and she reluctantly gave me $5 off (the hem cost $38 originally and the top cost $26). I was unable to leave with my dress because they only take cash. So on my 3rd try the next day, I was finally able to pick up my dress. The business owner was again not apologetic, and when I explained again that I was disappointed with this experience, she became defensive and continued to explain how difficult cutting tool is since the fabric is hard to see and you have to hang up the dress to cut it. I understand that cutting tool fabric is difficult, but she advertises that her business delivers "expert tailoring". If cutting tool is too hard as an "expert tailor", maybe she should communicate that. I completely understand that mistakes happen. Had she examined the hemline PRIOR to me finding the cuts in it and communicated that she could fix the mistakes, it would have made the situation much better. I also would have appreciated better customer service, and if she had been apologetic and honest about the mistakes and offered a discount (rather than me having to ask for it) or a coupon for future business, I would have thought about coming back and recommending Honovan to others. In general, the price was reasonable for the result (the dress does fit), but because of the disappointing customer service and annoying experience, I will not be returning to Honovan. read more

This is the cheapest dry cleaning I have found in Back Bay, and their hours are fairly convenient, usually that would warrant five stars. However, they have a horrible practice of putting 2-4 pins through the waistband of skirts... that total ruins them if they are any delicate fabric. DO NOT bring skirts here because they don't use skirt hangers. I'm out easily $100 because of this. read more

Bad. I have delivered my daughters clothes ( she study in boarding school in Usa) Her clothes were washed kike without adding detergant. They charged 85 usd for only water wash. Nobody helped while transfering clothes to their bags. Tgey lost her blanket . When we asked her She did not want to double check . She seems doesnt care. This place is the best dry cleaner in the back bay. They are not only the best dry cleaner but ALSO THE CHEAPEST. I've been to them all because I've lived in different sections of the back bay and always would choose the closest or most convenient location. The owner is incredibly friendly, reminds you of the some of the old school local businesses where they great you with a smile and try to accommodate you the best of their abilities. This is one of those places, so rare that I want to tell everyone to go here to keep it in business. Wow! So considerate, friendly, reasonable, well located, knows what they are doing, the list goes on and on. I was in desperate need to have my Indian dress, lengha, altered to fit me. Actually, it needed to be totally tailored, forget altered. The blouse came in two pieces of fabric and it was a total nightmare. I mostly use Honovan because i work across the street so it's uber convenient, but I agree with eq that the owner is delightfully lovely. Plus, the squadron of graying ladies with their needles and threads remind me of my aunts and grandma so I can't help but like them. Unlike some places in the Back Bay, I think Honovan's is unpretentious and appreciate that. I don't think the quality of their alterations or dry cleaning is out of this world, but for my usual needs (dry cleaning, the occasional hemming and seam work), they're more than adequate. read more
