I've been a customer at French Cleaners on Dartmouth for years. Joseph and his staff are simply the best. I was originally referred to them by the sales team at Louis Boston as the only dry cleaner in Boston they would recommend for their clients. The service is always exceptional and they have saved numerous items for me that I thought were beyond repair. I'm greeted by smiling faces every time I walk through the door. very expensive overpriced . I got a men's 2pc suit and 1 dress shirt cleaned and pressed. I was charged $39. the suit was $ 27 and I was charged $ 12 for a dress shirt. after some research I discovered that this dry cleaners is the most expensive in the city. Also they advertise same day service, however they don't. I went in 7:20 am on Tuesday and asked for same day service. but I was told my order would not be ready until the next day after 3pm. My advice avoid this business unless you don't mind overpaying and not getting their advertised service. I will never use this business ever again!!! Terrible business. read more

BEWARE!! THEY DESTROYED MY VERSACE JACKET! I brought in a limited edition $7,000 brand new Versace jacket that I bought in Milan. There are only a few made in the world of this rare jacket. I explained to him how special the garment is to me, and he assured me that he specializes in high end clothes. What a scam! I picked the jacket up and to my horror the entire piece was covered in white bleached-out chemical lines. In every area, sleeves, front, and back. My beloved jacket is now completely destroyed. I was fooled into trusting that one of my most prized possessions was in good hands. After waiting several days for him to call me back, he had the impudence to blame Versace and told me to "take it up with them". Do NOT trust this dry cleaner with anything you care about. He absolutely does NOT have experience in handling high end designer garments. Don't end up like me wishing you never set foot in French Cleaners...with a rag of what was once a stunning jacket. read more

Stay away!!! In sheer stupidity I went there twice, to give them the benefit of a doubt. Both times for shortening pants (that were already marked) it took them 3 whole days!!! I mean, what the hell are they doing with the pants? It was extremely expensive (but maybe I was paying for my pants room and board...) The opening hours are inconvenient for someone who has to work for a living. And the worst, both times(!!!) the stitch fell apart after few miserable weeks. They did a great job with my winter coats (which were in very, very, very desperate need of a dry clean). I left my Canada Goose parka, along with a lighter winter coat, which also needed to be repaired. Overall, the coats with the repair cost 47 dollars-- definitely not inexpensive, but I would say that it was worth it. I also was a little bummed out that it took longer for me to pick my coats up, but overall, I am super super happy and would recommend them for any sort of dry cleaning, especially with winter items. read more

This is a great dry cleaner. I've been through several dry cleaners the past couple of years, consistent issues with lost shirts, missing buttons, crushed buttons, over pressing suits, etc. It was becoming absolutely nuts! French Cleaners came highly recommended. Have been having my weekly shirts cleaned and dry cleaning now for several months. They are always friendly at the front counter, provide good recommendations, haven't lost a shirt as they do the work in house versus shipping stuff out, and they do a fantastic job on suits and trousers with steam pressing versus scorching material with irons at most other dry cleaners. Very glad to have found this place and highly recommend them! read more

I was told that this is one of the best places in town for dry cleaning, but I've had average service here, terrible tailoring, and found that Dependable does a better job for my needs. I took my shirts here and they asked for 4 work days to get them back! When I asked for something better, he said I'd missed that day's pickup and that was the best he could do... Uhh, what's going on that's gonna take you an extra three days? I then took my suit here to have some alterations done (not knowing there are better alternatives all around.) When I got it back, it was clear they did a single seam which caused all sorts of wrinkling and bunching. If they're not able to do the alterations properly, they should recommend you go somewhere more advanced... Definitely go to Newbury Tailors if you want your alterations done properly! On the whole, I've found better and faster dry cleaners nearby, for less money. read more

I've had all good experiences so far. I regularly take my shirts, sweaters etc... here and everything has come back clean and intact. I also give them some extra points for transparency and honesty. One time I brought in a coat for rush, next day service, but they said (unlike normal) they couldn't guarantee next day because they had a problem with their dry cleaning machine. I came back later in the afternoon to check, and it turns out they'd fixed the machine and were able to get the coat done by the next day. I appreciate when people are up front about a problem and work at it. read more

This is the best cleaner I've ever used, on time and take credit cards (doesn't display so on the window but they take all major credit cards), and their tailoring is expert too. Pricey, but, I brought over some Express Editor pants that had to be tucked in about 1 inch, and you can't see the alteration at all, it was (to be a little punny) seamless! read more

Truly amazing. I was in a tough spot - needed a dress dry cleaned for a holiday party and the place that told me they could handle same day just happened to have their driver come early without notifying me. Needless to say - French Cleaners absolutely saved me. While they let me know that it was a rare occurrence that they can turn things around in 4 hrs, they took care of it. I discovered French Cleaners after Champion Cleaners in Woburn destroyed a Kiton shirt and Brioni shirt. Joseph, one of the owners, is the best! He always remembers me and is highly interested in how clothes fit when I get my clothes tailored and he takes seriously the cleaning aspect of his business. He explained their process when I first walked in and told him what happened to my shirts at that other dump. My clothes are very important to me. I take care of my clothes so that they still look brand new after years of wear and FC cleans them with equal concern. Their prices are probably higher than other places, but to be honest, I have never asked what the prices are because how can I put a price on preserving my clothes??? Bottom line, no one cleans my clothes except French Cleaners. No one. read more

I recently started using this location for my work shirts, and was unsure at first since they are not done on site. I was pleased when they came back very clean and bright (white shirts especially) with just enough starch and no damage, or signs of being handled with hundreds of others. These are not expensive shirts, $50 or so, therefore it will be interesting to see how they look in six months or so after being washed en masse. I think the key to keeping them looking good, is good rotation. The turnaround time was quick, if dropped off before 10:00 a.m., they are returned the next afternoon. The only inconsistency I have found is that sometimes the shirts are returned with a crease running down the length of the sleeve, sometimes not. I prefer a crease. I suppose this comes down to who pressed it, and what they think the proper way is. I should ask the next time I am in whether this can be requested. Nonetheless, I have continued to use this location, and am happy with the service. The staff have always been genuinely courteous (not excessively or falsely so), and accommodating. read more

This is the only place I will take my good shirts to have cleaned. I trust these guys with my Lorenzinis, Borrellis, Truzzis and all of my high-end shirts. What a difference compared to other cleaners I have taken them to--no chipped mother of pearl buttons, no crazy sheen, no problems ever. Ask for the hand-pressing--about $5 per shirt but worth every penny. If you like great dress shirts and want them preserved, this is your spot. read more

OK, we have used these guys for the last 4 weeks and where happy. Today we went in to find that 3 shirts dropped off last week had not been touched! Excuse was that one of my cheap Vanhusen shirts needed to be dry cleaned. Upon questioning this the elderly lady then insisted it had a rip in it! I even brought in a fairly new pair of jeans which had torn and the owner suggested I not bother to fix them and return them instead. I was looking for a high end dry cleaners to service designer apparel and husband's shirts. Their dry cleaning leaves much to be desired. Men's shirts have returned with missing buttons, etc. White clothing was oftentimes returned dingy and one time, beige. Upon asking them if they could clean a Gucci motorcycle jacket or their recommendation on how to maintain the jacket, they recommended limited wear. Moreover, despite the owner's involvement in the store, their customer service is lacking. I only bring designer clothing to Personal Cleaners in Lexington. read more

I've been taking my cleaning here for 11 years and thought maybe it was time to give them a well earned kudo! They do an excellent job, are always on time and remember their customers. I just hand them my stuff, don't even take or need a slip, because they know me. If there's ever a problem they work very hard to make it right but there aren't usually any problems anyway. They also have a skilled tailor who can do any basic repairs or hemming, etc. that I ever need at a very fair cost. This is the best cleaner for shirts that I have ever used. If you order the hand pressign, the shirts will always come otu perfectly. Lapels and cuffs are ironed perfectly--it's the only cleaner in Boston that I have found that can do this flawlessly. I would never take my custom-made shirts anywhere else.
