Early 90's 5 star, around 1995-2000 4 star, 2001-2009 3 star and I'm sure now you catch my drift.. I gave 2 stars cause the servers I've known for over 15 years were working and always provide me great service. Wonton this evening was actually not watered down so thumbs up but we ordered dinner combo for 2 people and the rock cod with spicy salt was just the worst. I'd rather just eat spoonfuls of salt! I don't know how many cups of tea and water but I'm thinking about 8? The pork chop with black pepper was so so and I guess the highlight of our dinner was the beef rice noodle and mango pudding. With tip it was $49.08 that was 15% option. I'd rather just went and go steak or something else. I feel so ripped off and now I'm feeling bad that we gave the homeless guy the salty fish :( PS: wear a scarf, beanie, puffy jacket, long johns, whatever you can to stay warm. Even the kitchen staff had beanies and jackets on. So fricken cold!!! HONS DONT CHEAP OUT ON YOUR HEATING BILLS AND SUBSTITUTE WITH CUSTOMERS BODY HEAT!! BAD!

Some things never change. Our family has been going to different "Hon's Wun-Tun" places as far as I can remember. It was always cheap, available and consistent......as in consistently mediocre. I find myself coming to this Coquitlam location since it still remains cheap, available and consistent. Soup bases are bland and one-dimensional. Portion sizes are okay, but I've never had so much that I had to box it to go. Hon's makes congees even more tasteless than is typical for this genre. Prices, luckily, still remain competitive, although meals are now pushing into the two-digit territory. I reminisce of the days when $10 paid for the entire family. There are better places to eat, but if Hon's won't change, I suppose neither should I.

PUBIC HAIR on the bbq duck , after all the bad reviews I give it a try. We were the only Asian. Because I'm asian complaining about it to the manager will get me know where only work with non asian. Dirty Utensils

Delicious barbecued pork

I don't normally like chain restaurants. And to be honest, I have had mixed success eating inside this restaurant. So if it was a review just for the restaurant itself it would probably be two stars. But part of this review is for take-out, which I quite like here , because they're barbecued pork , and duck is excellent. So maybe don't go into the restaurant sit down and eat, but do pop in and purchase some of their delicious barbecued pork, roast pork, or BBQ duck. The barbecue pork is a steal at $6.99 a pound. They always have an excellent selection right at the front for you to purchase and get out in a very short amount of time.

This place has been here since I was a kid. Glad to see it's still here and I'm visiting again…read moreafter 20+ years. All I remember was that I liked their hot and sour soup. Not really an authentic Szechuan restaurant. 30 years ago, most chinese cuisines were cooked by hong kongers or south chinese people. So, most of these dishes are going to be a southern take on it. Hot and sour soup - price is awesome. $11 enough for at least 6 bowls. Souo base is missing a bit of flavor but it is jam packed with ingredients. Drunken chicken - it was ok. Little on the salty side. Shanghainese pan fried pork buns - these were probably the worst I've had. Not made in house and not properly pan fried. No juice, super dry, no fried bottom crust. Bean curd wrapped pork dim sum - surprisingly this came out last. At least 20 min has passed. This is a steamed dish but it came out with dried edges like it was sitting on a dry heater. Taste was ok. Mapo tofu - asked for extra spicy and extra numbing. Numbing was there but nowhere near real szechuan numbing. Was not spicy at all. Sauce was more oily than saucey. The price point reflects the quality. Things are either mediocre or a complete miss. Would come again to try only the better stuff. Staff was friendly. Came to try to refill the tea way more times than normal. The iron goddess tea tastes much better than a lot of dim sum places elsewhere.

We've never had to make reservations and didn't know we could or should. She went to the woman at the pay station, they both peered around the till, looked me up and down, went behind the till and then looked out at me again and lady from the front comes over and says nope, you can come tomorrow. Im like what?! Stunned and not sure what to say. I said no one is here, we are, whats the problem? She said no, no,no can't, nope, cant reserved .... then she physically leaned around me and started speaking to the new person that came in the door. Like i never existed. Unbelievable to be treated like a piece of crap on the floor. Never have I been treated so bad and felt less than as a human being. Never ever will we go there ever again. And I will tell everyone i know how they treat people. Like i wasnt their race, their ideal customer. DISGUSTING behavior!!!!!

Being used to the options in Burnaby and Vancouver, I'm giving this place 4 stars as it's one of the better ones in the City center of Coqitilam. Definitely not as fancy as Copa or Deer Garden, but the staff are personable and the food is decent at a good price point.

Best place for congee or any type of HK style breakfast. Prices are fair and the specials give you a whole lot of bang for your buck. Lunch and Dinner: MISS. When I test out a new chinese restaurant, I usually order the tomato and eggs on rice because it's a staple (I grew up in China) for me. It was extremely disappointing and a little gloopy? The tomatoes were overcooked and mushy and the eggs were blended into the sauce which made the texture thick in a bad way. Couldn't finish it and tomato and eggs on rice is one of my favorite dishes so I was pretty heartbroken. Overall, they definitely specialize in HK/Canto style dishes which they do extremely well but everything else is meh.

For those unfamiliar,…read morethere's an unspoken belief that if a Chinese restaurant has 3 stars on yelp, they have amazing food and substandard service. I am sad to report that this was somewhat the case. Yes, the service was substandard but the food was too :( The service was pretty typical for a Chinese restaurant. The servers are doing their jobs and don't care too much about pleasantries. My main gripe is that we all felt like the food was bland (apart from the fried string beans). We had also ordered chow mein with bokchoy and beef. They had typed in our order wrong and instead a beef brisket friedchow mein came out. We told them that the wrong order came out and they tried to convince us to keep it but it wasn't what we wanted! If you are familiar with Cantonese food, beef brisket has a VERY distinct taste. Eventually they agreed to take back the beef brisket chow mein and came out 2 minutes later with the chow mein we had originally ordered. I could taste the beef brisket sauce on it still. They had just removed the beef brisket from the noodles and replaced it with beef and bokchoy. In my opinion, they should've made us a new dish as this completely changed the taste of the dish. In terms of vibes, the restaurant looks like your typical Cantonese restaurant, the inside is a decent size. I think the clientele here leans more to the older side, not many young people seem to frequent here. Overall, I will not be coming back or ordering from here again :(

I have been to Legend House several times in the past and it was decent, but it has gone down hill…read morerecently. I would say sometime after mid 2024 the quality has dropped significantly. The hot and sour soup was excessively sour, the fried rice cakes was too sweet and the Dan Dan noodles was excessively salty. Furthermore, the ingredients don't taste fresh and dishes such as the Dan Dan noodles are missing key ingredients like cucumbers and carrots. Service is good, and there are robots as well. For the good news: very generous portion of the thick and flavourful Sweet Corn & Chicken Soup; the wonderful surprise of biting into the dumplings and getting both the authentic taste of the pork filling and the burst of the well seasoned broth Shanghai "Xiao Long Bao" Soup Dumplings; the properly cooked with the right amount of garlic and spice Salt & Pepper Squid and; the ever reliable FR "Yang-Zhou" Style. Unfortunately, we didn't fare so well with the rest of our meal. I've always wanted to try the Dan-Dan Noodles and I even opted for the Blade-Sheared Noodles. The noodles were overdone and so soft and slimy. It also didn't help that the extremely oily peanut sauce tasted like melted store-bought peanut butter with a smattering of minced pork. It wasn't even spicy as described. We also ordered the ironically dry and plain Green Onion Beef with Black Pepper Sauce. Not sure if the sauce spilled or evaporated but the container was devoid of any liquid. If it wasn't for the wonderful baos, my revised rating would have been 2 stars. If we ever go back to Legend House, it's probably just for the dim sums otherwise I'll pass.
