We have celebrated birthdays, wedding anniversaries, brought family visiting from Ireland, shared meals with friends, and it has been our sons' choice for many of their birthdays as well. In fact, I am booking Benihana for our 40th wedding anniversary celebration this August. After 40 years together, my husband and I can both agree on one thing: the food, the atmosphere, and the experience are truly top-class. Thank you for being part of so many special moments and memories with our family.

We were seated, but almost an hour went by before we even received our salads. During that time, no one came to properly check on us. I eventually had to ask the host to please have our server at least take our drink order, and I even got up myself to get a glass of water from the bar since I'm currently pregnant and had been waiting so long. What made the situation more frustrating was noticing that tables seated after us had already received drinks, soups, and were being actively attended to. At one point, I also observed our server frantically searching for another table's lost credit card, which made it seem like things were very disorganized overall. After waiting such a long time with little communication, I finally got up and spoke to the bartender and someone who appeared to be the manager. They said they would look into it, but by then the table next to us already had their chef cooking in front of them while we still hadn't progressed beyond salads. At that point, my family and I were completely fed up and decided to leave. Very disappointing experience, especially given that we had reservations and were celebrating time together as a family.

There are SO MANY special rolls. A few of my favorites are the the hamachi daisuki, sour punch, and pinky pinky roll. I also love ordering a chef special that includes a mix of nigiri, rolls, or sashimi. You can't go wrong with anything you order here, all of the seafood is so fresh, and the fried food is delicious and crispy. The staff are all super friendly and welcome us back every time we visit. The restaurant has a lot of tables (mostly 4 tops), but I've seen them push tables together for larger groups (probably best to call ahead in that case). The decorations are cute, tasteful, and fun, with a mix of studio ghilbli images and samurai themed art. They are usually playing early 2000/2010 music hits which are familiar to me.

Most importantly, all the fish was fresh and the rolls were well made. The service was friendly and attentive. Sushi Time is a good sushi restaurant, just not great. And we are in pursuit of a great sushi restaurant in the greater Monterey peninsula. So, the search goes on!

After walking on the pier we were kinda worried about finding a decent spot to eat. So glad we gave it a try. Walking in there were like 3 other parties walking in so that was encouraging. It gave off Hawaiian/tiki vibes and was inviting. They have a 3 course special 4-5 pm for like $30. My husband and I picked that, I had the teriyaki chicken bowl and he had bbq ribs. The salad had a delicious dressing and had to eat every morsel. Both the main courses were really good. My grandson ordered the steak and ate every bite of the whole meal. Kai (the waiter) was very nice and gave us some advice on what to see along the route. I got an amazing picture that I blew up to hang in our room. Totally recommend giving this place a try!

There weren't any seats available at the moment, and when my wife asked how things might look in an hour, Debbie gave her attitude. We decided to go anyway and wait it out. We arrived around 6PM and noticed an empty table for 4 and an empty table for 2 outside. My wife went in to check, and Debbie again said there were no seats outside. When my wife pointed out the empty tables, Debbie just repeated that there were no seats, then took down my wife's number to call when something opened up. We walked around the center for about 35 minutes and came back -- the same tables were still empty, so I went in myself. I got the same response from Debbie: no seats, and she already had my wife's number. I asked if I should just make a reservation for 7PM since that's when they started taking them. She told me a table would be ready before then and that she'd call my wife. We waited another 15 minutes, and after 45 minutes of staring at empty tables, we decided to leave. At 7:15 I called to check on our table, and Debbie said it was ready. When I reminded her she was supposed to call us, she said she never told me that -- that I'd only said we were coming in at 7, and our table had been ready. I told her that wasn't right, that she'd specifically said she had my wife's number and would call. She just repeated that the table was ready, and I told her we weren't coming. Unfortunately, I can't speak to the food, since our experience with Debbie was bad enough that we didn't want to waste any more time. If Debbie is working, I'd avoid trying to eat here.

We were a party of 6 but at the table it seats 8, so there was a couple also joining our table. The food: the soup and the salad were a little salty to our taste, but everything else was yummy. Our server was in training so there was another employee shadowing him. He was nice, but made a couple mistakes. Mistake 1: his penmanship was apparently too small, per the chef, to read on the ticket, so we were asked several times about our order throughout the night as he was plating. Mistake 2: he added the couple's bill to our bill, which was an additional $300. Our chef was nice, but a little clumsy and definitely messy and not organized compared to another chef next to our table who was calm, organized, and clean during his cooking. The couple at our table knew him and referred to his name as, Jose. Jose seemed like a master chef, especially the way he cooked the shrimp and cooked in general: calm, cool and collected . Our chef had food everywhere. The drinks we thought were better here and they did not water them down, like the other 2 restaurants I mentioned. The decor could use a little updating with lighter colors, lighting, and more ventilation. It's kind of dark inside and dated. Overall, a great experience and a must try.

There's a nice outdoor bar area where you can get drinks and appetizers while waiting for your seat. Slow cooked pork belly : 20/10 must try! The crispy outside texture was perfect and the charcoal taste complemented the pork belly fat really well. Szechuan pork ribs: 7/10 Not bad, but the Szechuan flavor lacked and it tasted more like Sriracha. Half butterfish and half ahi tuna dish: 8/10 the sauces were PHENOMENAL!! I'm going to need to get their recipe for their fragrant herbaceous green sauce and the coconutty umami white sauce. The butterfish had a bit of lingering fishiness but the texture was nice with a carmelized crust and soft insides. The ahi tuna was to be expected. Watch out for the spicy wasabi brown sauce! Dark chocolate raspberry molten lava cake: 8/10 I love lava cakes and they gave us an extra cup of dark chocolate to pour on top. I wish the raspberry flavor tasted more natural though. Service: 100/10 everyone was fantastic and our server was incredibly hospitable and nice.
