Located in Spanish Bay at Pebble Beach, the views are incredible. You're looking out over the golf course with the ocean just beyond, and it feels upscale and peaceful. If you time it right, you can even catch the bagpiper at 5:30pm. I've been to other Roy's locations and always order the miso butterfish. This time, it was still good, but slightly off compared to what I'm used to. It had a faint fishiness that usually isn't there, so while I still enjoyed it, it didn't quite hit that usual top tier standard. We also ordered pasta for my son, which he devoured, and a steak that was solid and well prepared. Overall, the food was good, but not necessarily the highlight. The real standout was dessert. The chocolate lava cake was an absolute slam dunk. Just a heads up, it takes about 20 minutes to prepare, so ordering it midway through your meal is the move. Totally worth it. Service was excellent. Our waiter was polite and thoughtful, especially recommending we order the lava cake early, which saved us a long wait at the end. Parking is easy with plenty of self parking available, and after your meal you can walk around or head into 17 Mile Drive, which makes the whole outing feel like more than just dinner. One tip: try to get a reservation on the earlier side and request a window seat if possible. We went with a big party and the downside is that they are not able to push tables together and had us at 3 tables next to each other. Our dinner was absolutely incredible! We were so sad when the Roy's by us closed so any time we are near another one we have to stop in. This one is exceptionally beautiful and the ambiance is breathtaking and lovely. Our service was impeccable and the food was beyond delicious! Long on my bookmark list, this restaurant is the only to my knowledge that's still owned by its founder that's on the mainland. Booking a Sunday brunch reservation in mid-September, we arrived a little early so we walked the back of the resort towards the beach and enjoyed the sights and sounds. We made a reservation here for a birthday dinner during our visit to Monterey, and it was remembered that we were celebrating a birthday until they gave us the birthday greeting card of the completely wrong person HAHA no harm no foul. Not sure why they had such a bad review rating but we didn't stay overnight. We walked in with a Roy's reservation. There were at least 6 bell boys standing at the entrance greeting guests. The lobby was clean, airy and neat and facing the ocean with a great view. We saw that the glass window side seating were full and asked if we could seat at the lobby outdoor at the firepits. The restaurant told us that the lobby would gladly took care of us and cancelled our reservation without any charges. We had a good time drinking wine and eating chicken wings while seated at the firepit. The staff lit it up when it was cloudy and foggy. The red blend carafes was good and was only $54. The chicken wings were delicious! Freshly fried and very crispy on the outside but juicy on the inside. There's a free water station and the staff checked on us. Firstly let me say, you absolutely must take some time to stop outside and see the amazingly beautiful and scenic garden area and beach that is connected to the backside of the building! We went around sunset time and it was so lovely seeing the sunset and walking along the pebbled beach. Once you have got your fix of lovely scenery save some appetite for the equally lovely dishes. When I went I decided to order the lamb chop as well as the butter fish. The butter fish was some of the juiciest tender quite literally butte try fish I have ever had and the lamb was cooked to perfection with a light lime green sauce that paired well with the mash. While the prices are on the steeper end, the quality of the food and the scenery definitely make it worth it and I would highly recommend check out Roy's! read more

The tiger shrimp and beef spring roll barely had any meat and was mainly veggies which was disappointing because I could not taste the meat. Apparently they also have a location in Hawaii that my friend went to, and since he liked his meal there we decided to give this place a shot. The interior is definitely on the nicer/fancier side, and if you come around sunset the outside area of the restaurant is really nice to check out near the ocean. For my dishes, we decided to get the Panko Crusted Rack of Lamb along with the Misoyaki Butterfish. While these dishes were definitely on the pricey side for the portions, they were well-cooked with great flavor to them. I especially liked the lamb since it had a great crust on it and the mint gelee it came with was a pretty unique addition to the dish. We had an anniversary lunch here yesterday. I was reminded what a great restaurant this is. My wife and I have ate here on a few occasions over the last 10 years. The restaurant is bright with classic contemporary interior design. We requested a window table so we could watch the waves crash 200 feet away, and watch golfers struggle with the tricky 2nd green of the Spanish Bay golf course. It was a perfect table. After ordering a reasonably priced bottle of champagne, we told Brook, our server, that we were going to share 6 dishes. Brook did an amazing job coursing out 2 dishes at a time. He and his crew provided an excellent experience. Food: We started with the Firecracker sushi roll (5/5) and coconut shrimp (5/5). Our next course was the blackened ahi sashimi (5/5) and the crispy calamari (5/5). All 4 seafood dishes were super fresh and prepared flawlessly. Our last course was the BBQ Szechuan pork ribs (4/5) and the chow mein (3/5). The ribs were charred with a sweet Asian glaze. I really enjoyed this dish. The chow mein lacked seasoning and flavor. As an aside, Brook brought us warm wet napkins for our sticky rib fingers...what a great touch. We had a great experience at Roy's. Dear Roy's Corporate Management, I am writing to formally express my deep disappointment regarding the service my party received at Roy's Pebble Beach, Patio section, on Thanksgiving Day between approximately 3:00-3:30 PM. What should have been a pleasant holiday dining experience turned into a frustrating and upsetting encounter due to the conduct of our assigned server, Tracy. Incident Details * We arrived with my service dog, who briefly barked. I immediately apologized, but Tracy responded by audibly saying "fuck" and shaking her head in disapproval. * Two of our friends placed their orders, while my partner and I requested a few more minutes to decide. Tracy's response was shockingly unprofessional: "If you plan not to order, you have to move to another table." * This rude and arrogant remark left us no choice but to cancel our order entirely. * As we exited, Tracy was standing at the bar speaking with other staff. From about 10 feet away, both my partner and I clearly heard her say: "They better get out of here," obviously referring to us. * When my friend asked her name, she pretended not to hear, laughed sarcastically, and avoided answering. My friend had to check her name plate to confirm her identity. Concerns * Tracy's behavior was not only disrespectful to guests but also demonstrated a lack of basic courtesy and professionalism expected in hospitality. * Her dismissive attitude and inappropriate language suggest this may not be an isolated incident, and I strongly suspect her colleagues may also experience similar treatment. * On a holiday meant to celebrate gratitude and togetherness, her actions were especially disappointing and unacceptable. Request for Action I urge management to review the CCTV footage between 3:30-4:00 PM to verify this incident, specifically Tracy's statement at the bar that "They better get out of here." This footage will confirm the accuracy of our account and highlight the seriousness of her conduct. Tracy's behavior reflects poorly on Roy's reputation for excellence and guest care. Stopped here for breakfast at the beginning of the 17 mile drive. Located inside the hotel on the golf course, this place had a great view! We sat outside to enjoy the view, which later cleared up making the ocean visible by 10:30 am. Our server was also courteous, thoughtful, and kind. I ordered the chorizo huevos rancheros and my husband ordered the ribeye steak and eggs. Huevos rancheros were better than I expected with good flavor and a hint of spice. For $55, the Ribeye was lacking in flavor, quite fatty, and full of tendon. Overall, it was a good experience but minus 2 stars for the price being quite expensive and a basic steak being quite disappointing.
