I can't say enough good things about Rescue Me Marana. I'm not only a volunteer here, but my…read morehusband and I also adopted our sweet girl, Stevie, from the rescue--and we couldn't imagine our lives without her. One of the things I appreciate most is that Rescue Me Marana is committed to finding the right match between each animal and their adopter. Even though I volunteer there, we still went through the same thorough adoption process as everyone else. I actually appreciated that because it showed me that every adoption is treated with the same care and consideration. Some of the dogs and cats that come through the rescue have experienced neglect, abandonment, or other trauma. A careful adoption process isn't about making things difficult for adopters--it's about giving these animals the best chance at a successful, forever home and preventing the heartbreak of being returned once they finally started to trust again. The animals always come first here. The rescue center is always clean and welcoming, and it offers a wonderful selection of high-quality toys, treats, and supplies for both dogs and cats. What makes Rescue Me Marana truly special is that it is run entirely by volunteers who generously give their time and energy because they genuinely care about the animals. The founders have built an organization rooted in kindness, compassion, and years of rescue experience. Their dedication to doing what's best for every animal is evident in everything they do. If you're looking to adopt, volunteer, foster, or support a rescue that truly puts the animals first, I wholeheartedly recommend Rescue Me Marana.

I was curious when I saw this store while walking around the outlets & had asked my friend if we…read morecould stop inside. We were greeted by an older lady who was very friendly & very informative about this store. Once I heard her mention that a % of sales purchased goes towards taking care of the animals for adoption I just had to purchase something. I also saw a big table with homemade cat & dog treats and heard the lady telling a customer that a local lady makes them. I ended up buying a packet of cat treats for my boys & a package of chicken doggie treats for my Mom's dog. All the cats for adoption were so cute but I always feel bad for them being caged up. This place doesn't have your normal cages that you find in those pet stores in the mall. They were pretty neat, clean & looked well ventilated. There were two big dogs for adoption in their cages & 3 cute puppies in an enclosed place on the store floor. What I didn't like is that they had it so you're not able to pet them.....my guess is for liability issues & to keep customer's germs aways from them? Their adoption fee's are affordable too! Definitely think about coming here if you're thinking about adopting/rescuing a dog or cat. Friendly staff, well organized, clean store. No stinky smells here.

West side: cat kennels -it was a horrible troubling experience…read more A lot of "volunteers" sitting around doing nothing while visitors are going around, lifting up blankets for privacy from cat kennels and petting the cats although each kennel has a sign. Petting cats from kennel to kennel. Which spreads illness!! I was not surprised by this behavior as I saw a man doing it, and he informed me that he was a volunteer and he knows what to do. I did not see him wash his hands after the encounter, and then other people saw him doing it and they started petting cats. Not a good example!!! Why aren't the volunteers going around helping spread information and helping. The staff is horrible. No one has incentive doesn't seem to care. The older male volunteer got confrontational and agitated. Maybe because he knew he was breaking the rules under the guise of being a volunteer. Showing poor behavior to other visitors.smh It was so unprofessional, but it's Pima county run. Seems like they need less volunteers clogging up the space and more people doing things. There is no reason it has to be so disorganized. We've been to the cat kennel multiple times over the years and it's always the same. A group of "volunteers" and employees congregated doing nothing. SMH We never decide to adopt there as it's so disorganized and unprofessional. Maybe one or two of the people work there (in blue?) but they are worthless. THE WORST SHELTER I HAVE EVER BEEN TOO. It's the people not necessarily the conditions (for cats) Follow up- went to the southern Tucson, Humane Society and it was a much better experience. Professional and organized. We ran into another woman who had just left Pima as well and said the same thing as I did above.

There was a dog we were interested in adoption and they never follow through three applications were put in one by myself when my husband and another one my daughter-in-law did and none of us receive any contact from these organizations. It is a shame we wanted to adopt from a rescue or a shelter however, they don't care to have these pets adopted? After waiting calling texting emailing and no one returned your call or an email or a text. I went ahead and purchased. Two puppies from breeders. It is a shame that these organizations say they want to place into a good Home however, never bothered to follow up.

Why? Because our rescue is a network of homes throughout our communities that step up and answer the call to end the animal welfare crisis. Our volunteers, when funded well, remove at-risk dogs straight from the streets and place them directly in to their forever homes within our Volunteer Sanctuary Pool Alliance, and not a temporary overcrowded and poorly funded shelter. This membership, (The VSPA) is one that anybody can join for free. All adoptions are free. And we raise funds to support our members. It's that simple. The animal welfare crisis can not be handled by one single shelter or charity. The crisis is a community problem. And community problems must come with community solutions. So join our alliance and make a difference. Even if you are not wanting to adopt or foster, the more our alliance grows, the louder our voice is. And right now, dogs at risk across our country need our voices to be as loud as possible. Visit us now. Become informed. Stay engaged. Volunteer. Adopt. Foster. Support. I paid what I…read morefeel is an extreme amount for a horse than turned out to be green and very unused to more advanced riding. She's scared of dogs, cars, trucks, mud, etc. She has zero knowledge on leg commands and does not know how to move her rear. Anytime someone puts leg pressure she begins to act out by throwing her head. If you use your boot heels lightly or have light spurs on and gently use them to get her attention, she rears and kicks. In thick brush of a creek bed she began to buck and kick about 6 feet into the air because of the brush hitting her (at least that's what I think happened because there wasn't any other issue I could see). She bucked and kicked quite a ways and rubbed me against a tree where I lost a stirrup and went down. I'm a widow who lost my husband in January. I have two teenage boys who are terrified of being orphaned. My son now has ptsd from seeing her come out of the thicket kicking about 6 feet into the air (his words) without me and having to run to find me thinking I was gone too. They knew my story and sold me a green inappropriately handled mare anyway. I gave them a chance to make the situation right but all they offered was to bring her back on my dime and get no refund. When I declined because my boys were attached to her already (this was before she went rodeo on me) I asked about a second at a discount price. That way I wouldn't feel taken advantage of with what I paid. Thus far they've declined. This doesn't even cover the fact that there's a good chance she has cushings because she's lactating NOR the fact that I asked for a vet health check and all they did was a coggins test and lied about getting a vet health clearance. So I have one mare I'm going to have to spend a lot of money on testing her for hormone issues, plus have to spend months for a professional trainer. I purchased my second from another place in hopes of more honesty and professionalism. I do not recommend.
