Two eggs breakfast

For being only one of 3-4 parties for Sunday breakfast, we expected better service. Items forgotten from order, slow bringing things out and didn't seem to be a team atmosphere with the wait staff -- every waitress had to fend for herself. That said, food and ambiance was great. Expected a drink menu, which was lacking.

This is a review of the newly renovated and recently opened Rod and Reel restaurant. It looks like most of the other reviews here, with the exception of one is for the old restaurant prior to it undergoing a huge facelift and change of ownership. Had dinner here this past Saturday evening to celebrate a birthday. I really have to say that everything was top-notch. The hostess was friendly when we arrived. Our waitress, Callie, was super friendly and helpful. She was able to make recommendations and give us detailed descriptions of most of the menu items. Manager came over to check on us and make sure everything was to our liking. Everything we ate was really delicious. There wasn't one person in our party of 5 who was not happy with their meal or drinks. The dining room is nicely appointed, but not overdone. We were there in the evening, but could easily tell that the large windows in the dining room provide an excellent view, overlooking the marina and outside of the resort during the day. I could easily see myself coming back here for happy hour, another full dinner or even just for dessert and drinks. Would definitely recommend as this is easily gonna be one of the nicer dining experiences in the twin beaches and north end of Calvert county.

This place has a lot going for it. The view is spectacular- the bay, boats, you know. We had Jennifer as our wait staffer. She was excellent; got our order right, never let our glasses go below halfway, and had that hard to fake happiness that makes your dining experience just so much nicer. I had the fried chicken-tasty; 4 pieces was kind of a pleasant surprise. Crispy, moist, slightly salty. I ordered a side of slaw- very good. Smashed potatoes were fine. My associate had the baked stuffed shrimp. This was also good.slightly higher price than expected for this dish. So!, come for the friendly service the fried chicken and the views! LOL

We stopped by at Rod N Reel after a nice stroll along the North Beach. The location of the restaurant is perfecto -- overlooking a pier nearby, where private boats, beautiful birds, and the Chesapeake bay can be seen. Since it was still phase two of lockdown reopening (hello future generations, the 2020 pandemic was quite something ), only takeouts were available. We ordered Fish N Chips and the Crab cake combo, and were told to wait for ten minutes or so. We took advantage of the waiting time and walked on the small boardwalk to take photos of the beautiful surroundings. Were able to snap photos of families of ducks and swallows,as well as some crane looking birds. Food was ready pretty quickly. We all enjoyed the freshness of the seafood. My crabcake was so chewy and yum! Even the side dishes were not blah like some of the other places. Can't comment on service as we ordered takeout, but generally all the staff we met were friendly and helpful.

I haven't been here in approximately 15 years and today reminded of why it was never in my radar to return. It was approximately 6pm on a Sunday and we got off to a really rough start. I wouldn't even blame it on the server Natasha because poor thing seemed to be 1 of 2 servers in the entire establishment with only a handful of tables. They both were definitely in the weeds. Upon arrival, we were immediately seated and drink orders were taken but it took over 20 minutes to even get our drinks. I actually had to ask the busboy in passing if it was at all possible for him to at the very least to bring our cocktails to us. He quickly brought them over and sent the other less busy server to take our orders. Another 30 mins passes, by now it's 6:50 and I absolutely had to ask the extremely bubbly host to speak with a manager. As I returned to the table our Mariner's Platter and Rockfish Dinner finally arrived, wasn't bad at all but not sure if it was worth the wait. Becca the manager came soon after with a long explanation of being extremely short staffed due to change in seasons as most servers head for work at outdoor restaurants. Both Becca and Natasha attempted to turn our dining experience around at the end but overall this place is in need of some help. While the outside parking lot is under construction the inside can definitely use a little TLC too. We were sat in a window seat that had an awesome view and you could see & kind of hear the live band outside once you were able to get past all of the gunk and dead mosquitoes in the window seal and pane. A good wipe down and a fresh coat of paint would do wonders. Once dinner was over we went outside to enjoy the live music that's there every weekend on the backside of the restaurant, which was nice. If we were to return anytime soon we would more than likely go for the music only.

Salmon salad was great!!

Back when this place was still one of Maryland's best kept secrets, I could have easily given it 4 stars at the very least. However, as traffic has increased, it seems the establishment has been challenged keeping up with the demand and maintaining the facilities. Therefore, it has slid down to a three star restaurant. The Belgian waffles are still delicious so make sure you try those if and when you go. Don't forget to tip Ron at the waffle station. He is a saving grace for this falling star venue.

never again. many many years ago this place was the happening place to be we decided to give it a try since we were in the area never again. the decor of the restaurant sucks the place was not packed but I guess they didnt have staff to cover certain areas of the restaurant we wanted to sit by a window BUT we were told the tables hadnt been cleaned. so we were led to a table that we could kinda see out of a window 10 minutes later a few window booths opened and we asked if we could be moved they moved us but the window area was filled with ants DID I SAY NEVER AGAIN! we didnt ask to be moved again - it seemed like such a hardship to get that booth so we sucked it up. the ants weren't bothering us. The crab dip was good. the seafood platter meal that we shared was underwhelming.

Roach so gross right next to me. Manger only took $10.00 off our bill of $70.00 and said "its cold outside and they come in to get warm".

Roach so gross, manger only took $10.00 off our bill of $70.00 not a cheap place at all.

ZERO STARS for the beachfront restaurant :( Food and service are equally as atrocious. We waited 20 minutes for a server to come over. She didn't have a drink menu so we waited another 10 for her to come back. After we ordered, we watched the table next to us get drinks even though they sat down after us. We could hear them complaining about their waiter never coming back to put in their food order. Our food came out nasty. I had a chicken wrap that was supposed to have almonds ... but it was just lacking and disappointing. My husband had the seafood platter that was way overpriced and lacking. Super disappointing.

Lots of seafood options and a good waterfront view

We visited Chesapeake beach resort and had an opportunity to try out the seafood here at Rod n reel, as it was right across the resort with a waterfront view. The place was nice with good ambience and music. We ordered fried calamari for appetizers which was very nice. For main course, my wife ordered crab capellini and I ordered the mariner platter. The food was ok.

Came here on a Sunday before going out on a fishing charter with a group of friends. The service was not very good, the decor inside looks like it has not changed since they opened in '48, and the food was not very good either. They had a weekend buffet spread but we all opted for ordering off of the menu. The service was a little slow but she stayed on top of filling our drinks up. All of our meals were just ok. The burgers were nothing special and a little over cooked, the pickles tasted a bit weird, and the flatbread was just ok. The shrimp salad may have given me food poisoning the entire next day (but to be far I am not positive that was it, though I highly suspect it). Overall, I do not recommend this place besides for the views of the bay.

The lounge is on the smaller side, which actually worked well for the event and gave it an intimate vibe. The owner was also very nice and welcoming, which I appreciated. Unfortunately, that's where the positives ended. The menu is extremely limited, and you pretty much have to piece together a meal from a few items. I ordered the jollof rice and six-piece chicken wings. The wings were overpriced, overcooked, and had no flavor at all. The only options were sauces on the side (honey, ranch, or blue cheese), and when I specifically asked for honey drizzled on top with blue cheese on the side, that request wasn't followed. Even more frustrating, our server never came back to check on us or make sure everything was okay. The jollof rice was honestly the worst part. Instead of that rich, smoky flavor you'd expect, it tasted burnt with a harsh charcoal aftertaste. I've had jollof rice many times before, and this was nowhere close. I ended up sending it back. Because I was hungry, I forced myself to eat the wings, even though they were dry and lacked flavor. Overall, Myste Lounge has a nice look and potential, but the food and service really need improvement. A revamped menu and better attention to guests would make a huge difference.

Service was great considering the place is small, it's hard to miss customers. It's a small hookah lounge in downtown Laurel, so don't expect a ton of space, but it's still a nice little spot to unwind after a long day or make a chill after-dinner stop. Hookah was smooth and the atmosphere was laid back. They do sell food, but we didn't try it this time. My only downside is the drink menu, it's mostly wine and champagne but overall it's a place I could see myself frequenting.

I never been to the Bayou Room but it was a great experience. As soon as we walked in we were greeted by a waiter who welcomed us. The ambiance and vibes were great. They had a guitar band that night who were phenomenal. They were really talented. I wish I knew their name. Apparently, the Bayou Room has live entertainment every night. I hope that I am able to see them again. They were very engaging and interactive with the audience. It added to the ambiance. It was pretty crowded so I did not get to walk around too much but they have seating upstairs, bar seating as well as a general area for tables on the main floor. And you can hear the music and enjoy the entertainment no matter where you sit. They also allow you to smoke inside so many people had cigars which adds to the ambiance. If you don't like the smoke smell then it might not be the place for you. Unfortunately, we did not order any food. However, I ordered an old fashioned which was very tasty. I asked for it to be a little sweeter than traditionally made and it was delicious. It was a little strong but I really enjoyed it. Overall, it was a great experience. An okay place to get some drinks or relax a little bit before going upstairs for a jazz performance or some dinner reservations.

"Waste o' time, Bobby, you won't find the critter there," Sam Guthrie (Cannonball), the oldest of the teenagers that make up the New Mutants, responded, "It'll be here." "What are you talking about, Sam? Explain yourself!" "Stands t' reason, ever since we've known her, Dani's had a special fear of a spirit bear she said murdered her parents. None of us really really gave the story much credit, after all who believes in magic?" Sam paused oh so slightly before continuing. " 'Cept Illyana's a real witch, an' we fought demons and sorceresses. Maybe Dani wasn't kidding." Sam shifted his tone to reveal his evidence. "Illyana tells me Dani spent the last week or so in the Danger Room fighting bears! T'night, she walked out into a [winter] storm, alone, armed with a bow an' arrows an' wearing war paint! And got mauled. We were wrong t' doubt her. We should'a listened, we should'a seen the signs." Whenever my wife and I visit a restaurant or bar for the first time, whether we are there by ourselves or--in this case--treated to a meal by our favorite neighbors--I can count on her to sort through, heed, and pick up on every nuance in every aspect of culinary service that is there to be sensed. In this case, at the Dockside Restaurant & Sports Bar at 421 Deale Road in Maryland, the food was mostly wonderful, and the prices were more than reasonable for this economy. What prevents Dockside from receiving at least four stars was primarily the service. Two orders of fries, one sweet potato and one regular, weren't hot; and although our waitress reluctantly brought one of the orders back to exchange it for a new batch, the fries didn't taste any warmer. Our other host ordered his crabcake lightly-fried, only for it to be brought out broiled. He still enjoyed it, but it wasn't exactly what he wanted or ordered. By the end of the meal, it became obvious that, if we return, we need to ask for Sarah, who, although she was tending the bar and wasn't even our waitress, still brought one of our neighbors a fresh cup of Pepsi Zero that she could take on our return trip home. Sarah also exhibited a great sense of humor, an attentiveness and an attention to detail, and, most importantly, remembered with pleasure our hosts, who have dined there frequently. Apart from the pumpkin cheesecake, which was so infused with nutmeg and pumpkin spice that even Linus from Peanuts couldn't have tasted the pumpkin, and the lukewarm fries, our meals were terrific. I devoured the perfectly-seasoned shrimp from the fried shrimp platter; everyone loved their onion rings and their cream of crab and Maryland crab soups; and we all agreed that the crabcakes, boiled and fried, were scrumptious.
