Offering us seafood+ menus the many choices made it difficult to choose. First were drinks. The sweet tea was second to none and this is coming from a sweet tea snob. I ended up drinking 3 glasses. From the tacos to my fried rockfish sandwich with delicious tartar sauce to the crabby fries which were a meal in themselves, the quality of everything was 10 out of 10. Highly recommend by hotel staff for blue crab. Called ahead to confirm hours, drove 20 minutes, showed up over an hour before closing, and was told the boilers were already shut down--so no blue crab. Disappointing, especially after checking in advance. We were told to come by 5:30 if we wanted crab, which would have been helpful to know upfront. I've eaten here quite a few times. Food is always good. Portion size has gotten smaller. However, the place is always in disarray. Every time I call to order, the staff is under the water. When I have gone in to pick up the food, they are overwhelmed. I just called to place an order at 5pm on a Tuesday and was told they are closed. The business hours on Yelp say they are open until 6:30. I asked if these were the normal hours, she said yes. That is obviously false. What an unexpected adventure in Southern Maryland! When my friend told me he wanted to have dinner at a seafood restaurant, I was expecting a big dine-in establishment. There is a table for 4, a table for 6, and a few high seats in the restaurant... luckily, it was empty, so my party of 6 claimed that bigger table! Obviously, it's mainly for takeout, but cool anyway! I noticed that they have happy hour everyday until 6 (they just have beer), and that the place smells like your standard enticing seafood restaurant. So we settled and started ordering... drinks first. Lots of local beers were featured, so I decided to start with Mully's Blood Orange, which was really good! Deciding food was a little more difficult... did I want a crab cake platter? Did I want the crab & shrimp quesadilla?? My eyes gravitated to an appetizer item that was labeled as new... Honey Butter Biscuit Breaded Shrimp. That's a lot of syllables, I know. That sounded so different and unusual, I was intrigued. I peeped a July special (which had just a few days left) -- 1/3 baby back ribs, jumbo lump crab cake, 2 sides and 3 hush puppies for $30. Yes please! The appetizers came out first -- after the first bite of that shrimp my eyes widened and I just paused for like 10 seconds. It was SOOOOOO delicious! I let the rest of the table taste and their minds were blown. 11/10. And then when the entrees came out... SO MUCH FOOD!!! As I said with the July special, the two sides I got were the Chesapeake macaroni salad, which actually had old bay and crab meat in it (YUM!) and the vegetable of the day, yellow squash! I enjoyed every single element of the meal -- but I will say that the hush puppies were my least favorite. They were extremely dry on the outside -- even though the inside was fine. The honey made them better, too :). I would drive 50 minutes just to return for that shrimp. By the way, they have food trucks and a trailer that they use for catering... so normally, they're not up around my way. But I'll be watching... read more

How did I not know about this place? We decided to do take out. The menu has been revamped and can only be accessed on Facebook. Ignore Google menu. Service: Very friendly lady who was the call taker. She was busy but still patient with me since I was confused about the menu change. I told her I would look at Facebook and call back. Once again, I continue to be impressed with the quality of the food and service. Whenever family or friends come to visit, we always take them here to eat. There is always a steady flow of people, but I have never not been able to get a table (limited seating). Even in the Maryland crab "offseason" everything is fresh and delicious. My family recently placed a large takeout order on Christmas Eve for brunch, and they had everything ready in record speed and all the food was hot and delicious. They even have a loyalty program to earn rewards as you visit. We have recently been going to breakfast on the weekends and the sweet potato pancakes are to die for. I stopped in to order crab dip. The crib dip is subpar. The restaurant placed Cheddar cheese for the crab dip. First, I do not do Cheddar cheese. I have never had Cheddar cheese used as part of the ingredients for crab dip (this isn't my first time ordering crab dip from this restaurant.) They have never incorporated Cheddar cheese as part of the ingredients. Second, they added tomatoes (diced). Who adds diced tomatoes to a crab dip? Third, I did not taste or see any crab meat in the dip. I feel like the restaurant did not incorporate any crab meat into the dip. I saw more Cheddar cheese sprinkled with diced tomatoes. A Must Try If You Are Near By! I wish we lived closer, I'd be here every week. The family rented a house in the area and we were looking for raw oysters and other Bay delights. Found this place on Yelp, came up as dog friendly, so off we went. Turns out that is incorrect, service dogs only. No problem, they were totally prepared to pack the oysters on ice and deliver them to our car so we could wait with the dog. Then we just took it back to the house. Today, I wanted something different than the humdrum corporate restaurants. I stopped at a restaurant called Calvert Seafood. Having looked at their menu, I placed my order. Once I arrived home to eat my food, I pulled out the wrapped food to eat. I was turned off by seeing a greasy brown bag. I was not impressed. Instead of the onion rings placed in a container (styrofoam), the onion rings were thrown into a brown lunch bag along with 3 hush puppies. The bag was very greasy. This tells me, the cook did not bother to allow the drainage of oil from the onion rings. Seeing the onion rings lying in a greased soaked bag is a huge turn-off for me. I do not like greasy food. Presentation is everything. The po boy sandwich was not what I expected. A po boy should be full of shrimp (or whatever po boy item you select). 6 pieces of shrimp were placed on a hoagie roll which is a lot of bread. Not impressed. I remember this 1970s t.v. commercial: "Where's the beef?" In this case, where's the shrimp?" Overall, it looks like I will have to scout out another seafood take-out for some great food. read more

Blue crabs year round! We stopped in on a Saturday (late) morning to try the new breakfast. The place is small but it seems many people do take-out. There was only 1 person seated when we arrived but the place was full at one point. We checked out the menu and I couldn't help but eyeball the one guy eating crabs. My plans for breakfast were out the door and I got some piping hot crabs. My partner got the pork stuffed omelette which she loved. The biscuit was also good but the home-fries weren't that great - they were just soft and salty. My crabs were delish and I can't wait to take my mom back there. Placed a large order to go late on a Saturday and received top notch service and food. The snow crab steamer trays were cooked perfect and the portions were ample. The crab legs were juicy and flavorful even after our 20 minute drive back to the house. We also tried the streamed shrimp and they were cooked and seasoned very well. The restaurant was very clean. Then they took about 15 minutes to ever take our order for drinks and food. After 40 minutes waiting for our food my partners was brought and mine wasn't for another 12 minutes with not a word said. Something else we observed was that the people seated behind us we ignored then another group came in and were waited on immediately and when the waitress finally took the order from the people behind us she apologized that they wouldn't be able to order crabs because the people at the other table just ordered the last they had. If you had waited on them ahead...the correct group would have been able to have crabs. read more

The informed me it would be 20 minutes, which I had no problem with. I got there about 15 minutes later and went inside to get my food. Paid and went back to my car. The crab cake sandwich was barely cooked and cold in the middle. The outside of the cake was barely warm. The French fries were okay, nothing special. For a $20 meal I was expecting a lot more. Recently in town and needed a break from cooking. I would usually not do takeout for good seafood, but the family wanted to try something different. Their crab dip was very good, and there was a good portion for the price of an appetizer. I had the crab cake and soft shell crab entree for dinner. The soft shell crab came fried, and it was a good size and tasted good and well seasoned. The crab cake was relatively large. I got the crab cake fried as well, which I will say I was a bit concerned it would be a dark deep fried hard block but it was moist, barely fried, and very full of crab meat. For sides I did the potato salad and macaroni salad. The macaroni salad was not my fave, it came with a few chunks of crab on top but was a little too saucy for me. The potato salad on the other hand was delicious, again I don't like too much mayo or sauce and this was perfectly seasoned. Everyone else enjoyed their dinners as well. My fathers double soft shell crab sandwich, which was a special, was huge. And my husband loved his steamed shrimp. The only 2 negatives I could say based on this experience food wise is that they were out of hushpuppies. And had been for 2 weeks according to who we talked to when we ordered on the phone. Hushpuppies are so easy to make and I'm sure would be even tastier if they made them themselves. And also all of their condiments are prepackaged, the Tartar sauce and cocktail sauce were Ken's brand. Again, so easy to make, can be made and packaged in bulk, and would taste so much better then Ken's. The service was great. Placing the order by phone went well and we called when we arrived and they had just finished boxing everything up and brought it right out to our car. read more

We got bay fries, soup and hush puppies because they seemed safe. The fries were so over cooked that I gave up after a few bites. I'm also not sure what made them "bay" because there was no flavor - I could only see specks of seasoning. The soup was so bland, there was a little bit of crab meat lumped on top which was tasty but didn't really add much flavor - just texture. I ended up getting old bay fries that were actually flavorful from another food truck and dipped them in my soup, so by the end of the bowl there was slightly more flavor than cream. The hush puppies were perfect, which was a nice surprise because they were a last minute addition. I think I'll go back and try the real meals, I'm hoping that's where their strength lies. read more

A friend and I were in the area and I really wanted seafood. We decided on this little seafood place. The food was very good, everything I ordered was delicious!!! The crab cake was packed with yummy jumbo lump crab meat and just mouth wateringly (probably not a word, but it fits) good. The fried rock fish was cooked just right and the pickled beets (I had a double order of this) was so, so good. It's not a very big place and I suspect a bulk of their orders are take out.
